Edit: Sorry i just saw this has been posted before.. The earlier post didnt mention blu ray however.

So i went into gamestop today, and they had a "buy 2 get 3 free on all dvds" sign up.. I asked the person who worked there if it was for blu ray as well and he said yes.. I was suprised... I picked up FIVE blu ray movies for only $32

The guy that worked there said only around 1 in 10 gamestops actually carry blu ray or dvds.. He said by september they will no longer accept trade ins on blu ray or dvds due to people stealing stuff at walmart and taking it there.

But if your gamestop has this deal going on its a GREAT deal and worth picking up some movies! But definitly YMMV

I don't think it has to do with theft. Gamestop is adding DVD rental kiosks to their stores. They rent and sell DVD's and Blu-Ray. After a little while they then sell the rented movies at a used price. You can get some good Blu-Ray prices at the stores. They need to move them to make space for more...

Maybe ont 100% because of theft but they are trying to clear out the inventory of dvds and blu ray..

For $32.xx I got Spiderman 3 (BR), The Patriot (BR), Chappelle Show Season 1, Boondock Saints, and Tenacious D Pick of Destiny. My GS's Blu selection is shit.
Any idea when this goes until? May as well check the GS by the path tomorrow...
I think they are going to do it until their DVD selection completely runs out. They will probably amp up the deal even more as times goes on.

btw I fucking love the .gif in your siggy.

My Gamestop had buy 2 get 4 free!

No Blu-Ray, though. I ended up getting Futurama seasons 1-4, My Name is Earl season 1, and The Sopranos season 1. I'll probably sell off Earl and Sopranos after I watch them and make back 25+ of the 47 bucks I spent. w00t.

Mine too. Nevermind they had about 9 copies of half the stock, and most being things like First Daughter or Pluto Nash. I still managed to grab I Am Legend, American Psycho, Tenacious D & The Pick of Destiny, Groundhog Day, Children of Men and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Even those 6 pretty much cleaned out anything worth getting.

About a week ago I got Spiderman 3(BR),Hellboy (BR), Casino Royale(BR), The Patriot (BR), and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(HDDVD) for about $40 after tax.

I got the buy 2 get 4 free deal with 5 blu-rays and 1 dvd. Paid $34 and change after edge discount, and I got Live Free or die hard BR, The Covenant BR, 30 days of night BR, saw IV BR, the rock BR, and the brothers grimm DVD. I got the only blurays they had though.

holy...wonder if the GS near me has blurays. Is there any way to check other than to just go to the stores?

And are the blurays in crappy cases?

I guess you can try calling them and asking.

As for the bluray cases:
If you mean in general, I think they're pretty solid.
If you are referring to how GS handles them, I believe they just use the original cases.

All my GS has are Spider-Man 3 Blu-Rays. The other day they had the Blade Runner Blu-Ray set for $14.99 but I already own it so I passed.

you might be able to call them and see if they have them

i might be going tomorrow to check out and see of there are any other deals i can get or if they got anymore blu ray movies in.

Well, I don't think I've seen any Blu-Ray movies at any Gamestops within the past few months. I remember them having a bunch back then though.

Just called 4 different Gamestops. Only one of them had some Blu-Rays, but the guy working there said that they were new, and the deal only applied to used items. Oh well...

=( called my gamestop, guy told me it was online only. so i go and look online all they have in the blu ray section is spiderman 3.

Whoever has a GS with Blu-ray's near them give my GS's whatever yours is on. I went into one a few nights ago and this nerdy dude looked at me like I had two heads and said "we don't carry Blu-ray's"... like a chick... with an attitude. I was like alright then lol! :whee:

My Gamestops got rid of their DVD/Blu Ray sections since there is a Movie Stop or whatever their new store is called like right down the block. Sucks. They used to have tons too.

Does anyone know if this deal happens automatically or does the gs employee have to enter a code? One of my stores has a few blu rays but an employee said it was dvds only. Thanks

Went to my local gamestop, and one of the bad things about living in SoCal is once a great deal like this is announced, it'll most likely be cleaned out by the first day.

I picked up Indiana Jones box set DVD, Heroes Season 1, Firefly Complete Series, Juno(Blu-ray), Family guy Vol 1(I think this has Seasons 1-2, IIRC)

Most the of them were $30-23, expect Juno BR which was only $18. I asked if they had any BR and he said no, store manager was going to buy Juno but , but then he said he would sell it to me. Also came with the Digital copy that works on itunes. (i thought the code would be used since it was used.)

I think I paid $60ish out the door.

All disks are playable a few smudges but nothing that should stop them from playing.

They're getting rid of them because of Moviestop mainly. Unless you're in a smaller location with only 1 or 2 Gamestops (theres literally 7+ GSs within 20 miles of me and 2 within walking distance lol) they wont be getting the rental kiosks. The rental kiosks are meant to take the place where there wont be Moviestops, obviously this is not a rule, as Im sure some places with Moviestops will see kiosks in their local GSs as well.

Moviestop is actually quite decent, at least the one nearest here.

my store had a Buy 2 Get 4 Free deal and I picked up ALL Blu-Rays

Oceans 13
American Psycho
Letters of Iwo Jima
I Robot
Saw II
Full Metal Jacket

for $34.88!

I got tipped off by a pal who is tight with the staff at the GS across from our works that they had BDs that weren't on the shelves. He told me I'd have to go in and ask them to print out the stock list because these were all "trade-ins" (*cough*) that didn't have cases - they came in plain cardboard disc sleeves; no cases or inserts. Hmmmm....

I got 10 under the B2G3 deal and another 6 with B2G4, for a total of 16 BDs for ~100. Not bad IMO. Picked up:

30 Days of Night
Across the Universe
Apocalypto
AVP: Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem
Basic Instinct
Enchanted
I Am Legend
Live Free or Die Hard
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Ratatouille
Spider-Man 3 (PS3 version - had case, but no 2nd disc)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
X-Men: The Last Stand
So is this deal advertised at the store for you people that got it, or do you just have to ask the clerk?
They had signs around the DVD bin. My store had B2G4 for a long time, but they never really had any Blu-rays, unfortunately.

Picked up a few blu rays:
Hiitman
Rush Hour 3
Talladega Nights
Pirates: Curse of the Black Pearl
Spiderman 3

They also had plenty of Stir of Echoes. Chain Reaction, and No Country for Old Men

I just got the Buy 2 Get 4 Free deal myself yesterday. I wonder if I should have asked if there were more behind that counter too. I saw some cases, but I'm not sure if they were DVD cases or generic cases for the Blu Rays. I managed to get Spider-Man 3, Talladega Nights, Live Free or Die Hard, Meet the Spartans, Pearl Harbor, and something else. Not the greatest, but considering I wanted a few it wasn't bad for 32 bucks.

Possibly has somthing to do with a little company they have going called moviestop.

Once again with GameStop's Blu-ray/DVD sales, my store does not even have the amount of Blu-rays needed for the sale. They only have a total of 4 Blu-rays (and 2 of those 4 are copies of Spider-Man 3). :(

Going to try another nearby GameStop tomorrow. Hopefully they have a somewhat bigger selection.

I grabbed (they only had 6 blu's to choose from, so I grabbed the "best" 5):

Night at the Museum
Talladega Nights
The Golden Compass
Click
American Psycho - Extended

for $34+tx.

Had my discount card too, lol!
yeah my stores were buy2 get 4 free and it was all CRAP and no BR :(
My store is still B2G3 free and the guy there said it was going to B2G4F within a few weeks but my store didn't have any Blu Ray movies.

I hit a pretty sweet deal (or at least I think so) when I found the first 3 seasons of the Sopranos in near perfect shape. I added volume 1 & 2 of ATHF for my other two. Total was $53.xx, not bad. I love their DVD deals every now and then when I find some good stuff.:)

Got Rambo (2008), We Own The Night, War, 10,000 B.C., Saw IV, and NAtional Treasure Book of Secrets all for $34.xx and all on Blu-Ray with the Buy 2, Get 4 free.

nice score davestation, none of the stores around me have anything great like that. there are an over abundance of spiderman 3s though.

Yeah, the store I went to was in the Minneapolis area, the Gamestop clerk told me that they are the only store in the Twin Cities Area (Minneapolis/St. Paul, I just realized thats why they call there baseball team the Twins a few years ago) to accept trade ins on DVD and Blu-Ray. I was at a different Gamestop yesterday inquiring about Blu-Rays and the manager told me if I could find a store, that the deal is now Buy 2, Get 4 Free. There is one store near the Wisconsin Boarder with the sign saying" Gamestop....and movies too, so I went there and sure enough found the deal.

None of the stores around me have any Hi-Def movies. THey have not for a couple of months. My guess is that the employees are grabbing them.

Matthew

Hey Simpsonp, all the Gamestops in the Twin Cities no longer take them but one store. Ask your local store if they know where there is one, or you can use the store locator and call around.

I've picked up the following using the B2G4 sale.

Simpsons Seasons 3-5, 7-9
Weeds Seasons 1-3
Dexter Seasons 1-2
Seaquest DSV Season 1

Roughly $80-ish in credit.
