CAG 360 Game Lending Circle - NOW OPEN TO ALL, READ RULES 1ST - 292 Games Available!

Here is my updated revised list. I am willing to lend out all my games, minimum of two at a time. Shipping is around ~$2.50 for two games, one way. So, about $5.00 for shipping to and back, saving 1/2 of a Blockbuster price!

My List:
Beautiful Katamari
Burnout Paradise
GRAW2
Far Cry 2
Gears of War 2
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
The Simpsons Game
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Fallout 3 (loaned out)
Forza Motorsport 2
Dead Rising
NBA Live 07
Madden NFL 07
Grand Theft Auto 4
Assassin's Creed
Viva Pinata
Call of Duty 3
Mass Effect
DDR Universe

I'm not quite sure which category I fall under. I mean, I've been on CAG for nearly 2 years, but I don't have any iTrader feedback.

You'd only qualify as a lender for the time being. I've yet to hear of any major issues with the GLC since I set the minimum iTrader to +5/100%, so I don't think it would take you too long to build that iTrader rating up. (and by that, I mean a log of completed lendings reported to me until CheapyD and John implement the system into iTrader).
Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I'm looking to borrow, not to lend...just yet anyways.
Which is understandable, but CAGs without prior successful trades (i.e. iTrader) are not allowed to borrow in the GLC (to help prevent fraud). I do allow successful lending as a substitute, but outside of that I don't see lenders being all that willing to lend a game out to a CAG with zero iTrader, regardless of their time on CAG.

I could be wrong, but the idea itself is still very new and this trial period is essentially its "test run". I'd rather err on the side of caution for the time being.

~HotShotX

I understand what you're saying. I'd be cautious too. I just sort of wish there was another way to prove I'm trustworthy.

Please submit all "trust" payments to my PayPal address. :)

This is a really cool idea!

I know I'm not necessarily eligible for trading, but where could I find a list of available lending/borrowing games?

Check the first post. Recognized Lenders will list the people who are participating and what games they have. Below that you can check who and what games were previously loaned out.

Added myself to the Recognized Lenders listing and updated the OP. We now have 10 recognized lenders and 248 games available.

~HotShotX

I'm finally situated in my new place, I should be able to start lending again. I need to update my list though.

I may have to try this out. I'd do it more to see if I want to buy certain games. This is a great idea, and for those that are nervous about doing it just lend lower value games at first.

I would definitely not open this up to the trading forum at this time. I would say the people participating should try and get reliable cag's they know to participate.I would also pay close attention to how cag's have acquired their itrader rating. Many only buy and as far as I am concerned if your fb is higher than mine but most is from buying I would notfeel as comfy as someone who has always sold.

I guess I'll have to get a list and let you know soon Hotshot. Won't be much but it will grow. Maybe this will keep me from buying so many games I don't care about in the end.

I like that idea syn had about being willing to lend 2 at a time. That is a great way to help keep shipping down.

Sounds great, welcome to the GLC, hope to hear from you soon.
i'd be interested in joining this.
Unfortunately, the GLC is currently limited to CAGs who have been with the forums for at least a year. This may change in the future, but the idea is still very new and rather guarded.
I want to borrow just to increase my Gamer Score. :)
This would certainly be a good and cheap way to do it. :)

This looks like a great idea. Sending multiple games at a time (especially if they're short games) would make a lot of sense.

I'll give you guys a call in 8 months. :p

neat idea, although im weary of lending games to some people i know in person, ahaha. im just very particular/OCD when it comes to my games. but great idea none the less, this reminds me of the book trading websites that i've seen around.

hotshot you kid about paypal, but you could probably do like a safety deposit like thing. but i doubt people would trust a single person to the money, it'd be an awesome way to keep the trust though. like a 40 dollar deposit to join the trading club, but you know they get the deposit back when they return the game. just thinking out loud.

Hey, I just read about this and I think it's a great idea, and limiting it to vets with feedback is a smart policy. Ive been on CAG for a year and have 100% itrader feedback, what is the process like for getting started? I'll go ahead and read the rest of the FAQ of course but if there's anything I need to know...

There really hasn't been a problem so far. I've lent out 2 games and currently borrowing one now. I've only had 1 problem, which was getting my game back later than expected but, the borrower made up for returning it back late, with a few bucks to make up for my troubles.

I'm just saying, there doesn't seem to be a necessity for such stringent measures. Maybe if something like this got to the size of Goozex, but even still you can choose who you lend to.

I only have an itrader rating of 3 but I've been here since 2005. I wouldn't mind joining this group.

Here's what I can lend:

Dead Rising
Rock Band 1
Fifa Soccer 08
The Darkness
Beautiful Katamari
Skate.
Mass Effect
Karaoke Revolution: American Idol encore (game only)
Gears of war 2
The orange box
Open Season
Fuzion Frenzy 2
Assassin's Creed
Viva Pinata
Guitar Hero 3
Pocketbike Racer

What about lending? May those under 1 year be Lenders?

TBH just because you've been on a forums so long, that doesn't make you trustworthy. I mean you can still get ripped by those who have been on forums for 4+ years. I've seen people with over 100+ and 200+ i traders turn into rippers leading to their disappearance from a forum. Its hard to trust anybody these days. There is now even a mod on a forum that i visit who has ripped a member and hasn't been on the site in many days.

As far as I know, lending is allowed (which makes sense to build your own rep).

you heard it here first! the launch of CagTrade.com. it's not a bad idea, but i suppose if you develop a company out of it, it would be hard to make money.

Just saw the thread a few days ago, I have been trying gamely. It takes over a week for turn-around on a game where I live. I think I rather spend money on the lending circle, then waiting and waiting.

I'd like to join the "circle of trust". Let me know and I'll edit this post with my list.

Approved. Post your list.

~HotShotX

Update (3/2/09): Added Phil to the Recognized Lenders section, adding 31 games to the GLC, bringing us to 11 lenders and 279 games.

To date, the CAG 360 DLC has been running pretty dependably. This is a great opportunity for CAGs to get in on playing games for cheap (only cover the lender's $2-3 shipping cost), so if you have been a CAG for at least a year and have at least a +5/100%
iTrader rating, you may borrow a game right away! If not, you may begin lending if you have been a CAG for at least a year in order to build up iTrader (which you will report to me to be recorded here).

As always, remember to submit all current lending transactions to me to that they may be tracked and potential issues may be caught early.

Thoroughly enjoying Fallout 3, thanks :) By the way, add me to the list, games are below:

Amped 3
Army of Two
Blitz: The League II
Bullet Witch
Dark Sector
Flatout Ultimate Carnage
Lost Odyssey
Mass Effect Platinum Hits
Marvel Ultimate Alliance/Forza 2 Combo Pack
NHL 2K7
NBA 2K8
The Simpson's Game
Unreal Tournament III

The rest of my games are in LE's in Steelbook cases so i'm iffy about lending those out (obviously i'd put the game in a different case).

damnit SynGamer, was looking for blitz II and had to use goozex, feels like a waste of points now.

update for my current borrowing:
Chrono and I are in the process of mailing back each others games (civ:rev and Fallout 3) Hopefully he should have the game today or tomorrow.

In all fairness, it's a good game. I bought it at GameStop for $17.99 used a month or so ago (it's still that price)...

Just incase HotShotX didn't receive my PM (I'm pretty sure my inbox is at max or close to max), my trade with homeland went very well -- my Fallout 3 for his Civilization Revolution. Sorry for the delay, my birthday was Saturday so I didn't get around to calling it out.

I've updated the OP, glad to hear everything went well, though I don't think I was ever sent a pm that homeland was borrowing Fallout 3 from you (I thought Chrono was borrowing Fallout 3 from homeland).

Oh well, sounds like everything was a success either way. Good work guys.

PS: Mods, this thread should totally get a sticky.
I borrowed Too Human from justden a few weeks ago. Sent him a PM requesting an address so I can return it.

Just putting it out there
If you borrowed a few weeks ago, then it was prior to your 1-Year CAG Anniversary, thereby violating a major rule of the CAG GLC (being a member for at least a year).

You are hereby banned from the GLC, as well as justden for ignoring the rules.
Got my college hoops 2k7 back from tehmuffinman + shipping money!
You failed to report your initial lending to me, so did tehmuffinman. Both of you receive a 1 week temp ban from the CAG GLC.

Kidding, of course.

The GLC has been around for nearly 4 months now, and we've really had zero major issues. I think it goes without saying that the individual lenders can police themselves, and it is time to open the GLC to anyone the lenders are willing to work with.

Therefore, the GLC is officially out of Beta, although completed lendings cannot be reported in iTrader (as the function has not been approved or implemented yet). I will update the OP with a few changes in rules, and will leave the "recommended" minimum iTrader at +5/100% + 1 Year on CAG. This however, can be ignored by lenders if they feel comfortable.

The only thing I really want to stress here is the following: If you lend a game to someone, report it to me in the thread or by PM. I am removing the 1 game limitation, but leaving it as a recommendation.

As such, lenders have a RIGHT TO KNOW whether a borrower is currently borrowing from someone else. This is absolutely critical, and will likely prevent many if not all potential fraud and abuse. Protect yourselves, and protect your fellow CAGs. Report the beginning and end to all lendings.

I will record all completed lendings in the thread until a point in which Lender/Borrowing is added to iTrader.

Congratulations to all in making this a successful program to this point. I look forward to the expansion of the CAG GLC, because in the end, it's not about the number of games we play or the money we save (edit: yes it is), but it's about the number of us that now get to play that one game we once could not afford to play before.

Take care of your fellow CAGs, and they will take care of you.
