N8 did you want to try the vikes saints game today?
Yeah. I gotta feed the baby here in a few minutes, but could you do maybe like 11:30 AM CST?

Waited for Tana from 950CST to 1025cst and no go! I'm still gonna be on for a while but I'm leaving the lobby for now. If you sign on shoot me an invite so we can play.

Great game N3XTLVL. Eagles came to play and kept the Jets guessing on both offense and defense. Eagles got up early, winning 10-0 in the beginning of the 2nd quarter. I got a lucky pick with Revis to turn the tide and we each turned the ball over, before I settled with the ball and was able to squeeze out a FG before the half ended.

Started off with the ball in the third and was lucky enough to drive down for a TD to tie it. A few more errant throws with Young put me in the position to score a few more TDs. With a better QB fit for PHI, I don't know what this game would have been like, but I think it would have been a blowout win for Philly.

Edit - BTW, I am going to pick up a mic to use in the future if someone wants to. If someone wants to use a mic, let me know when we are setting up a match so I can have it ready (I will need to keep it hidden, as I have had 3 trashed by my son). I normally don't use one and that will be my default method, but I felt bad because N3xt wanted to chat and I wasn't able to. He still tossed out nice comments throughout the game, which was cool. Win or lose, the dude was great to play against.

Sorry about being late I forgot and didn't remeber until I got the email from your pm.

GG Doc

Steve Slaton was player of the game with 175 yards and 2 TDs
Yea dude that's definitely possible. I'm waiting for Tana right now for our 1000am start.
Hey, getting the baby back to sleep is taking a little longer than I had hoped. I know you had to wait around for Tanabeo though, so I don't blame you at all if you're tired of sitting there. It might be another 30 minutes before I can get on. If you're not around, I'll completely understand and we can try again later today or tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know so you're not wasting your time.

No worries man! It's ok! GG to you to! Killed my playoff hopes! Now I need to win 2 and need the jags to lose out!

Awesome. Getting on now. Thanks for waiting, man. I really appreciate it (unless you beat me..lol j/k ;))

I play the Jags this week, but Pitfall has owned me thus far, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Jesus fucking Tapdancing Tittyfucking Christ. I can't take this game seriously anymore. I don't know how people play it and feel like they actually have any control over the outcome. When you kick someone's ass, sure. You're just better than them. But in a close game, with two skilled opponents, shit just happens in this game. And the outcome rarely has anything to do with one person making "the right call" over the other person. It's just random, dumb, fuck-you-in-the-ass-and-spit-on-your-face luck.

docb played great in our game. He ran the ball well with AP...partially because my defense is full of arm tackling pussies, but he did a good job bouncing through the holes. The difference in the game though was what is an INT and what is not an INT. We had each thrown 1 INT that were just forced balls into coverage. Then, late in the 3rd, as I'm driving in his end of the field, 66 rated CB Chris Cook, with 50 catching and 35 spectacular catch, makes one of Madden's awesome leaping, twisting, over the head, by his fingertips interceptions.

I saw him there the whole time. Colston was running a slant across the field, and I was timing my throw so he would be on the other side of Cook and I could get the ball in the gap between him and the safety overtop. But no, not in Madden 12. Meanwhile, once again, my 85 and 86 rated DBs are content to just slap the ball to the ground, even when its thrown into double coverage. (videos to follow)

What the fuck does anything have to do with anything in this game? The numbers don't mean shit. Your timing doesn't mean shit. Your playcalling doesn't mean shit. What the fuck are we doing game after game? I'm so tired of EA's garbage. Their games are so fucking horribly programmed, but we play them because they bought out and ran out the competition. Maybe I've played too many sports games this year, but I usually get like this and just need a break from sports games.

Obviously, I'm going to keep running and playing in the league, but I'm really glad my secondary team was just picked up because there's no way I'm going to keep putting as much time into this game as I have when there is literally no reward for it. I just can't play this game and have any expectations. It's too frustrating. This game basically knocked me out of the playoffs, and sets me up to finish in last place in the NFC South with an 8-8 record. Un-fucking-believable how much I get shit on by this game.

Sounds like my last game in the other league. Luckily, I won 31-29, but I had 6 turnovers and the other guy 7. I was getting beyond frustrated as fumbles I recovered were getting reversed and picks were flying everywhere.

With that said, sometimes I like the crazy games and honestly the best players are going to win most of the time. It's frustrating using a team like the Browns, but I still believe it. I think on skill I can win about half my games and can probably go plus or minus 4 either way because of outside factors. Though I guess maybe that supports your argument some, but I don't know I think eventually the more you play you start to develop a groove and you'll win what you should win.

Take passing for example, the game I just won I threw 5 picks and had 0 TDs. I can complain about the game, but really say at least 3 of those were on me. I would have won easily if I had those back, but because of my mistakes I made the game close and left it up to the shoddy AI.

Oh, I still haven't heard from the Cardinals about playing tomorrow either.

...if it makes you feel any better I couldn't do shit again Carolina with my Texans and they all but head stopped the though of the playoff out of my head! :) I'm definitely drafting a FAST RB. GREAT GAME NATE! I'd rather be 8-8 with my primary then the 5-9 I am now. You are an awesome commish and a hell of a player but like we've discussed previously in the thread...if madden deems it your day then its your day!

I know you are pissed..I feel ya there. I have been there myself even over the last couple of days. I can agree to some extent on 'numbers not meaning shit', but I disagree on timing and playcalling. The other factor is also execution. I know Madden can pull some insane acrobatic bullshit with their defenders..so I need to call the plays that will minimize it and make the decisions on the field to minimize it. I still fuck up and throw stuff I shouldn't. You just got to separate 'football sense' and 'Madden sense'.

It's not a secret to anyone who has played me - I play a short field and try to control it as much as possible. I will be really surprised if I keep winning as I don't have big money plays. And when I am not on my game, I lose hard. But I do know where all my receivers will be on pass plays I use a lot. I know where they will be on the field one second, two seconds and three seconds into a play. I know where they will be if they are bumped off the line. I also know if I throw a pass over the middle, there better be no LB in the middle, or its getting picked. I know that. If I force it, I am putting myself in the hands of Madden (or the defender if they user him). If there is, I have to know the timing of the WR so I can squeeze it before he hits the middle or after. If there are defenders there too, I have to go somewhere else or sometimes I will just eat a coverage sack rather than risking a throw. You said you saw the DB there, but knowing Madden, you probably made a throw that made football sense and not Madden sense.

I'm not saying shit you don't know. I have played you and you play well. If you're anything like me, you fucking collapse when something like that happens. You just might not be shaking it off for the next game because you are a bit burnt out. I really hope it improves for you though..you are a big part of the league (not just because you are the commish either).

Just to let you know, I have wanted to post that very fucking rant in the other league after a loss where I felt I was robbed (I wasn't, the other player played well and deserved to win too). So I get it man and am not trying to disagree with you as much as to try to point out positives that you know can be in your control once the black cloud leaves after awhile.

As for missing the playoffs, the South is a bitch. You got unlucky there - we all did. It has been a great division, though there are a few others in the league that are too. The wild cards are still up for grabs though and you have as good a shot as anyone IMO.

ATL - 24
JAX - 10

Another game that was closer than it looks. Pitfall played well, but just wasn't able to overcome young Gabbert's mistakes. He scored a TD in the 4th to pull within 7 and about 4 minutes left. First play on that drive, he brought the blitz hard and my offense was able to pick it up long enough for a long TD strike to a streaking Douglas and put the game on ice.

GG Pitfall, it was nice to finally get a win over you (still 1-2 though).

As much as that might be true, it makes for one boring ass game. This is why 95% of the people in the other league rush for 300 yards a game. Or, it's the reason that people will only throw to their HBs most of the game...which doc actually did a lot...not blaming him. He's just "learned how to play Madden 12". It's how you "get good" at this game. It just kinda disgusts me that you have to resort to that because throwing downfield is basically a crapshoot unless someone is retardedly wide open.

On the play in question, he was in a zone. I knew there were gaps in it. I was trying to time the gaps. Honestly, watching the replay, Colston suddenly breaks more back than across right as I'm starting to throw the ball. What I envisioned him doing was cutting across and getting to the other side of Cook by the time the ball got there. Even so, it was one of those plays where the receiver is 5+ yards behind the defender and there's plenty of room to get the ball in there...but not in Madden 12.

I'm just at the point with this game where I got to with the last Madden I bought (Madden 10). I can't possibly play the game any more than I have the past 3 months. I have 100 ranked games under my belt (where I'm actually like 10 games over .500 somehow). I play this game more than any other game, and this kind of shit still happens. I can't put in more time "practicing", so this is basically as good as I'm going to get. From this point forward, I'm basically going to just be playing to play. But there's no way I can keep putting the same amount of effort into it.

There was nothing wrong with the way I played this last game. My run defense was actually much improved from the past few games where guys lit me up. I called the right plays to stop AP. Most of his yards came off broken tackles (which is also pretty arbitrary). I didn't have any huge coverage lapses. doc really had no huge offensive plays (I had more passing and rushing yards yet again). The game literally came down to those turnovers/non-turnovers. And I'll stand by my statement that the game screwed me there. doc wasn't better than me and I wasn't better than him. The game just went his way. We may as well have played rock, paper, scissors.
Yea post it or PM it to me. I'm more than curious

Pitfall I'll send you a PM about Packers Vs. Chiefs
The play I'd setup for QB rushes on 5 wide sets specifically for my team would be a combination of the two plays I found to be most effective during our game: The 3-1-7 QB spy and the cover 4. The 3-1-7 QB spy could stop every rushing attempt, but was giving up a ton of yards to the WR1. The cover 4 didn't quite shut down the passing game, but did the best of any play I called, but also gave up a ton of yards on the ground. I'd pick the simpler of the two plays (or another play) to use as a base to audible from, then audible a 3-1-7 QB spy cover 3. I'd put man coverage on the WR1 and WR2, three defenders in zone over the middle, and two defenders in deep zone over the top. Or as an alternative, I could take the 3-1-7 man defense and audible one of the safeties to double cover the WR1, and the remaining safety to cover deep over the middle. It would probably depend on the WRs being covered and would need to be adjusted depending on the routes that were being run in 5 wide.

For any potential QB rush with less than five receivers, I run the play I remarked upon earlier in this thread. It needs to be either a 3-2-X or 4-3-4 base (the 4-3 requires a 4-3 base, but the 3-2 can be a 3-2, 3-3, or 3-4) that blitzes LBs straight at the gaps between defensive linemen (the blitzing playcall lines need to be straight) and plays man coverage with anything from C0 to C2 (depending on personal preference and the number of receivers). Essentially, it serves the same purpose as a goal line defense, but with better penetration (due to LBs hitting the line after potential gaps have been made) and better pass coverage. It gets wrecked by screens, outside runs, and blown coverage, so it isn't a play you can run on just any down. It's a play you run when you anticipate a QB sneak or inside run (QB or HB). Most teams should have a defensive play that matches or is close to matching this setup, so there should be no audibles required.

For other teams against 5 wide QB runs, I'd probably start with a generic base of 3-1-7, 3-2-6, 4-1-6, or 4-2-5, depending on whether their strength is in the line or the secondary. A good line and MLB can stop the rush by themselves, while a weaker line could use an extra 1-2 players assuming that the secondary can be trusted with a C0 or C1. The easiest way to play against the QB rush is to put the LBs in spy and take control of a DT and play to give your LBs opportunities to make plays first, and make plays yourself second.

Bengals 27
Rams 24

St. Louis' late-season slide continues as it loses this nail-biter 27-24 to Cincinnati. The Bengals' defense smothered the Rams' once-potent rushing attack, forcing Sam Bradford to throw. The Rams had four turnovers in this one, and it was just too much to overcome.

After falling behind 14-0 in the second quarter, St. Louis sustained a drive that netted 3 points before the half. On the first drive of the third quarter, Bradford connected with Mark Clayton to pull to 14-10. However, the Bengals stormed right back to make it 21-10.

In the fourth, the Bengals added a field goal to extend their lead to 14. However, the Rams were able to strike back twice to even the score at 24.

With less than a minute to go, the Rams had a chance to drive the field for a game-winning field goal. However, Bradford threw yet another INT (he had three total, plus a fumble), and the Bengals were able to pull within field goal range for the game-winner.

Great game, KasterDB. Not sure what's going on, but I seem to have lost my Madden mojo that gave me the great record. Not exactly the time I want to be slipping ...

I think I was fortunate. I was focusing on Jackson, but I'm never that effective stopping the run, haha. If I were just joining the league, I'd consider Cincy. They've got some really good players. I was so mad at how conservative I got in the second half to give you a chance to win, but I lucked out. That was a fun one, man, well played.

I was surprised that you weren't chewing up clock there in the third and early fourth. I just thought you were toying with me lol. At the end there, I was so out of my comfort zone that I was just letting the Gameflow thing call my offensive plays. I couldn't do ANYTHING on the ground, and as you saw, Bradford isn't trustworthy enough to put the game in his hands.

Dude that is AWESOME! Thanks yank! I gotta win Out and still need JAX to lose out. I can feel the love with HOU AND ATL! Lol

Games remaining this week:

Cowboys vs Buccaneers
Dolphins vs Bills (Not sure if the new guy is playing this week)
Redskins vs Giants
Titans vs Colts
Seahawks vs Bears
Browns vs Cardinals
Patriots vs Broncos
Ravens vs Chargers
Steelers vs 49ers

I'm trying to put together a playoff picture, but holy shit is it muddy. Things should be a bit more clear after all the games are finished this week.

If we both finish 7-9, you own the tiebreaker because you're up 2-0 head to head.

If I would've beaten Atlanta with the Jaguars, it would have put my Packers in the driver's seat for a first round bye. So, I kind of ended up losing twice.

Okay guys,

G33 and I should have the (TENvIND) game sometime in the next day.

I have never heard from damailman, who is playing my secondary, so I guess I will send him a pm.

I'm gonna be playing (Bills v Fins) but wasn't sure how I'm supposed to join the league. I registered through the league manager link at the top but needed the password. If anyone could help me out getting it set up so we can just get into it tonight. Thanks.

Terrible Idea to just be giving this out when we have so many open teams!!!

I don't know how many of you were involved in the Fantasy League Fiasco but we were very lax with the passwords and someone went in and made a million trades and essentially destroyed the league.

Commish's gotta have a few and mix up the passwords to avoid this.

I know it seems like "who would waist there time" but someone already did twice (fantasy and main league).

Just a friendly suggestion. Hope I don't give anyone bad ideas before this is changed

Packers 34 - Chiefs 21

In a turnover battle for the ages Pitfall gives the Chiefs their second loss since new ownership.

My first two offensive plays were fumbles, so down 0-14 one minute in, things were looking bright.

Pitfallharry did everything in his power to let me back in it (namely 1 INT for 6 and another INT to end the 1st half)

But Cassel flat out refused to score points in the Red Zone and the Pack scored a few more.

Frustrating game, but needed, Chiefs now have there eye set on that Super Bowl ring. No more silly turnover games from here on out.

---

Good Game Man! Looking forward to our next one.

Okay changed. However I know people have given out the pass in this thread before. You might want to remove it from your quote.

This was posted in response to your initial post. I didn't see you say anything after this, so I wasn't sure what was going on.
Cool. Welcome to the league! The Bills play the Dolphins in Week 15, which is Blade3D's secondary team. If you're not able to get the game right away, it wouldn't be a huge deal, as this game could just be simmed. In Week 16 (which we'll advance to on 2/1), the Bills play the Broncos, and that's a game that would need to be played. Up to you how you want to proceed.
Lol it was already up there! I figured the solution would be to change the password, not delete it from every posting!

But it has been edited!

Cardinals Vs. Browns? (Ultimate Matt) is on for 8pm PST tonight

For some reason I thought everyones secondary teams were in the NFC, but the Cowboys must be DVO's main team.

So are we half NFC half AFC with secondaries teams in both? Or what?
