CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!
i usually do awful against terrible zangiefs but this was the first good one i've faced and i lucked out =D

is sweeping a good technique for getting people when they wake up? i do it because it works (see end of vid for example) but is there a more effective alternative that can be used at that range? i feel newbish when i do them.

Well, let's take a look at Zangief's wakeup options.

He can either jump up, backdash, ex green hand or block.

Sweep would beat jump. I believe the guy was doing that, or doing a special move other than ex green hand. Ex green hand would've beaten that sweep because of its starting invinc frames.

Let's look at Sakura's options. She can stay back and block just outside of grapple range and just react.

She can also jump in, but you risk getting blocked and have to guess whether or not the person is reversal SPDing or nothing. Or they could reversal backdash to spd.

You can do option select jump in - ex dp which can beat backdashes, jumps, specials and ex green hand. But doesn't really do anything if they block.

It's really up to you what to do, but in that situation, I recommend jump in option select because that guy always pressed a button on wakeup.

I don't fully understand what option select is. You're preparing to do a number of different moves while in the air?

And how would that work against Zangief doing a Lariat wake up?

Couldn't the gief also do a (ex) SPD to beat sweep?
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on sale at amazon for $5 for those of you that don't already have it. And by the looks of it... That's pretty much no one in this thread haha. But figured I'd share all the same.

http://www.amazon.com/Super-Street-..._1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1280378778&sr=1-1
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. I bought this for $15 about two weeks back.

And that's what I get for being excited for finally having a console that can download such games!

But excellent news. I love playing HD Remix, and hopefully this sale just boosts player numbers.

Went OOS pretty quick.. But despite being an avid tekken player since the PS1 days and being pretty terrible at any other fighting game made.. Decided to give this a go. (Also bought MvC2 for $7 last week). If anything these sales have given you guys a few easy wins here and there haha.. Send a friend request if you're looking for someone to mentor.. Or beat up on pretty easily. I'm down for whatever.
Couldn't the gief also do a (ex) SPD to beat sweep?
Only if sweep is mistimed and it catches the other person before the sweep becomes active. The EX SPD is 2 frames slower than normal versions and less range than jab SPD. EX SPD is not invincible at all, however it provides better positioning. It'll lose to a meaty attack.
I don't fully understand what option select is. You're preparing to do a number of different moves while in the air?

Lariat has no invincible frames, but has pretty fast startup. That's why people use it as anti air when standing to trade in ex green hand. Because it has no invincible frames, you can throw out a meaty attack and wakeup lariat will not hit you. Go ahead and try this in training, meaty attacks will beat out lariat out right.

As for option select jump in to ex dp. Inputs will look like this.

j.HK, forward, down, down-forward+ 2punch.

You time j.HK semi-deep and input forward, down, down-forward+ 2punch during the block stun and before you land. If Zangief backdashed or becomes invincible, jHK will whiff, and you'll land sooner making the ex dp register and come out. Now if Zangief blocks, the ex dp will not come out.
good lord that sounds like cheating, lol -- i never heard of this stuff in the past, is it like a recent discovery?
I believe option select existed even in the old Super Turbo days, however it wasn't given the name option-select until much later.

Man this is getting fun. Trolling the Blues like never before. Disconnecting and then telling them the game sucks and sending out the emancipation proclomation along with the return of hover cars and all the copies of blue will evaporate and turn into pizza. Fantastico!

Good games s_d. If you want some tips in SF, feel free to ask. Lots of close games as well.

$40 just to ragequit and troll... Sounds like Aksys won this round.

for sakura vs zangief
use far hk for spacing
charge/uncharged hadoukens
light tatsu from far away to build meter
on untechable knockdowns, i think you can time a neutral jump hk or mp to beat out reversal lariat
to hit lariats from far away, use st. mk, be careful since forward mk is overhead
and the standard crouch mk to shouken etc etc
and thats all i remember

Yeah I just can't seem to get you the final round everytime. I kept falling for me jumping in and getting Shoryu'd by Ken, but I've tried to restrain myself a bit from doing that.

I hope I'll get better over time.
Oh and it's s_D if you want it shortened. I don't know why, but the capitalized D makes a difference.

You're forgetting one thing though. I'm winning most of the fights and I STILL Disconnect just to fuck with peoples minds and tell them the glory of Hoseph the 3rd and his prowess when it comes to the enactment of the emancipation proclomation and how that it will one day set us all free from our minds and the petty squabbles of human frailty.
As good as Paco is at Blazblue he should quit trolling it and enjoy it. ;)
Oh yeah this is me on my quest to destroy Blazblue

Desperado_EK67294.jpg
I think deep down you enjoy Blazblue. Don't try to deny your true feelings!
Nope. I've trolled exactly ten people now on Blazblue with the ramblings of a madman mixed with the fanatical endevours of perfect trolling. The world shall know the TROLL KNOWN AS PACO AND HIS TACOS!
Paco is a closet BlazBlue fan confirmed.
LOL NO. Though a lot more people then just Jman question why I'm so good at the game despite hating it. It's part of my ultimate troll plan. I plan to one day make the an intricate plot of trolling, bullshit, and according to Hazuma in Gaysglue, LIES. LIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I am Paco and I will become the biggest Blazing Troll there ever was.
I feel like I'm finally leaving my plateau on SSF4. I think it may be time to upgrade to a TE =D
Aye, I feel you.

I can't do kara-throws, piano/slide method/inputs, and option select inputs with my current set up.

But damn, is it pricey.

fuck dem japanese sticks. Build yourself an AMERICAN POWER STICK! FOR GLORIOUS AMERICA!

I think I might try to actually get good at SSFIV. I've played a mediocre Guile for so long though that I think I just have to switch characters and go in with a clean slate. Thinking about trying Cody or Makato. How bad are these two characters?

Time to put trolls on blast. Here's one dedicated to all you internet monsters.

Check back a little later for another special match.

EDIT: Here's the main event.

Unfortunately it's banned in Germany for its pure rawness.

Makoto is hard to be effective with. She's a bad character overall and it's hard for anyone to win with her. Cody however is easy to pick up and is great all around. He has a good set of tools to win matches.

I will admit that i learned how to play Fuerte just to troll Guile Players and piss off Ken and Ryu players.

But you gotta admit the power of beans is pretty tits.

Thanks option for the lovely theme for both videos. They both really fit the composition. And the video quality was perfecto. Magnifique!

Dizzyam, when did Valk get so good with sim and boxer with such little time? That's a big improvement, I'm impressed. All I got to say is "Hyperbolic Time Chamber". Tell me your secret. What do you do? Drink prune juice? ;)

Valk, has a really interesting sim. Good use of normals. Know when to teleport in sticky situations. Paco was doing the mexican jumping bean in the first round to get ultra II out. That was hot fire and hilarious. Valk almost had paco, but couldn't eek out a victory. El sucksors.

In the second match, Valk didn't need to go buckwild. He just sat his ass on the toilet seat. He played that patient game right. Waited for TMK to come to him. And it worked. Watching this video, I thought TMK would get some sort of redemption and get karnov's revenge on Valk. I can't forget the last match when valk used j.lp for the win.

But nope, TMK had no chance in hell to win against turtle power boxer. TMK should have stayed away, chuck a lot of plasma mid-screen/full-screen. Get lvl2 focus ready for boxer's dash straight, but watch out for those turn around punches. I kept seeing a lot of lvl 1 focus'es. I don't like it, don't use it. There were a lot of unsafe uppercuts that don't need to be there. Use it only for anti-air or as a finisher in a combo. Make great use of cr.mk xx fireball/ex fireball. It's a great footsie tool to push boxer away. Use it as an opportunity to punish a mistake or use it in a fadc backdash when wakeup uppercut doesn't connect. Also, conserve your meter. You need to add tick throws to your game as well. There's no indication of haagen dazs scoops in my bowl. I'm missing that ice cream man. You need to have baskin robbins in your repertoire.

GGs to you too, glad to fight somebody on the same level as me in BBCS, really helps me improve. By the end I was kinda starting to get the hang of Mu-12.

The Round 2 is down to $100 shipped again. This is a tough decision :bomb:

The new character is up for BB CS. There charging 7.99 for one fucking character? I was hoping for 4.99 at the most and that's pricey.

$50 off and free shipping Round 2 code: ROUND2

the deal ends on the 10th, but MarkMan said it's safe to say it'll return a couple times next month as well.
Do you guys think I'd be better off buying a used TE Stick and mod it myself if it goes bonkers or buying a brand new one? (Note: I've never modded a stick and I'm not the most dexterous person when it comes to this type of stuff.)

*edit - gg's fellas. Really close matches all around.

I'd only go for a used TE if it was for a great price (sub 75), or if it came from a trusted seller -- but I'm paranoid like that. I'm not a stick expert either.

I kind of want to wait and see what deals come around for the holidays. But I also actually emailed a custom stick builder just to see some pricing guide lines because those things are soooo beautiful -- you could hang it up as art when you aren't using it.

Pretty much costs around $250 though :cold:

GGs guys.

Question answered.

Edit - 2nd Question - For the people who bought Makoto in BB:CS and played with her. How is she?

Frank's friend.
So... shini... when's the last time you played ssfiv? I never see you on anymore. Damn Casper.
He got grounded.

Or was it something about his dad confiscating his stuff.

Or maybe he just got molested.
