CAGbag: Get your questions answered on CAGcast
For Cheapy:

I was watching a show yesterday on strange foods around the world, and of course Japan came up. The people on the show were eating things like chicken hearts, different animal testicles, and poisonous fish, among other things. My question is, have you eaten anything similar to the things listed above?
I think he was talking about how he'd eat some shit for 10k. That also answers the sponsorship question as well.

CheapyD and Wombat-
What is the largest number of video games you have bought at a single time (in one day...a trip to mall...one night online...) and what made you do it?
Was there a huge sale/deal going or were you just way behind on purchases?
Thanks!

Hey guys,

Do you guys generally aim for 100% completion on games when you play them (such as unlocking everything/getting all the items/coins, etc), or do you prefer just to play through for fun and then shelf a game?

As a game, Halo 2 was one of the most anticipated games in the history of gaming, but it was a double edged sword to alot of people on release. From a entirely different feel in the controls and gameplay that seemed to target the broader audience, instead of those who would have liked to see Halo stay more focused on skills and with less auto-aim.

This leads me to my question. On the Xbox there are alot of players out there who are only going to play Halo 1 or Halo 2, based on they're style of play. There are going to be people like my friends back home, who'll only play Halo 1 because of the 'noobiness' of Halo 2 and vice-versa.

Now this leaves Bungie with a bit of a problem in my eyes. They have a huge fan base, one of the biggest in the industry, but there are people who are divided on what they're asking for in Halo 3. With the massive success of Halo 2 online, many people would scream if things went back towards Halo 1, in much the same way Halo2 caused.

What would you think if Bungie announced that it was going to do something similar to Counter Strike? Release an older game on a next generation engine, meaning a complete rebuild of a popular game like Halo 1 multiplayer. They could throw it in there with the new standard of Halo 2 style options, allow both versions access to levels/weapons and Xbox Live and of course set Halo 1 as a Classic Mode.

Would older fans come back?
Would this be possible?
Your thoughts about this being a success?
If it works great, do you see other classic games being rebuilt? (EX Starcraft)

Did you ever think this site would grow as larger as it has become and getting bigger ever day?
Milkyman? Milkyman? Hey I may not have proper engrish but at least I can READ Wombat :)

If a magic turtle said he'd make you any cos-play costume from a video game but you had to wear it at a convention, what costume would it be?

Also what Cos-play costume would you make your wives wear at home? ;)

Being a CAG I won't be ready to move to a XBox 360 until the price drops. However, I can't help but feel a sense of disappointment that Microsoft has essentially halted support of the original Xbox. I say "disappointed" becasue I'm not *surprised* that MS has done this. I kinda took a risk buying a Xbox when most everyone was buying PS2s. Maybe MS has taken my loyalty for granted.

From an incomplete and laggy (and some might say offensive) Live experience (on the original service), to missing promised features and harware (video chat), to lack of full implementation of the Xbox Live Arcade, I think of Microsoft as a politician - willing to tell you what you want to hear, but unable to follow through on promises.

Cheapy and Wombat -
Do you think MS's effort to get the 360 out before the PS3 hurt the current Xbox owners? How does MS's abandonment of the Xbox compare to other console makers' transition to new hardware (PS1 -> PS2 for example)? Is the console industry littered with promises that are never fulfilled (I think I know the answer to that one)?

Thanks

How do you feel when CAG doesnt get credit for a huge scoop (such as the recent Circuit City Bonanza?). Also what did you guys pick up for your selves at the circuit city sale?

Also i think i have figured out what Wombat's day job is. Remember that picture of him with the pirates hat? He gave away a very crucial clue. By day just a wombat but by night! Superwombat!

I just wanted to let you ungrateful bastards know that even though you won't mention my questions that are out of this world with greatness, I mentioned you guys and you CAGcast on the (crappy)PSP Forum I am an admin at. So when all of 1 of my members listens to your show, you are welcome. Also, should I get a 360 to play Oblivion(granted I would more than likely get more games). Cause I just ran into some money and would love to play it on my PC, but I don't have a work horse, more like a pony of a PC. SO upgrading my pieces to play Oblivion would cost me roughly a 360 and the game. I mainly like RPGs, Action games, 3rd person shooters are ok and fun racing games are a plus. Please help me out.

Cheapy and Wombat, what is your guys' favorite type of game music? Instrumentals such as those prominent in Final Fantasy games? The rock hits as featured in Guitar Hero? The gangsta rap played as you do a drive-by and run over some hoes in GTA San Andreas?

Also, were there any notable games where you just had to buy the game soundtrack or at least thought the music was moving or inspirational?

Thank you.

If you were forced to buy a used car from one of the following people, who would you choose?

Peter Moore ("Ignore those consumers who complain of gears sticking and overheating - this car is perfect for you. We're happy to add power steering, but you have to buy dealership points and cash them in.")

Reggie Fils-Amie ("A steering wheel is irrelevant in today's innovative world. Try this innovative steering stick. Also, yell into this innovative microphone to roll down your windows. We're moving into an innovative new direction!")

or Kaz Hirai ("HONK HONK! RIDGE RACER! You'll buy our ultra-expensive car even if we decide not to include brakes and a windshield!")

Hey Cheapy and Wombat I was wondering if you guys play any fighter type games. In almost all of the cagcasts I never heard either you mention one fighting game release that you really enjoyed (I only heard two fighting games that you guys mentioned, which were Tekken 5 and DOA 4 but you mostly just mentioned them and never really gave your opinions on whether you liked them or not.) Also what type of fighting games do you like? Button mashing games like the Dead or Alive series or combination buttons like the Tekken series and Street Fighter series (including crossover games such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2)

Cheapy - Do you find yourself gaming more often now that you are, for lack of a better phrase, a house husband? (Keep in mind that I am headed in that direction myself. :p) If so, do you find yourself being less discriminate about the games that you play just so you will have something to play? Or do you find yourself only gravitating towards the "AAA titles?"

For both guys - A lot of CAGs I talk to and other people I game with online seem to get online after a hard day's work, or a night out, or after some kind of activity, rarely are they just sitting around all day. With the Wii coming out soon, I was wondering if the idea of this new and innovative controller might actually drive some consumers away. I get the feeling that if you came home from working all day to play, for example, the tennis game coming out for the Wii, that you would not want to move aside any table or object between you and the TV and run around the entire room trying to return the ball. I know that many people appreciate the creativeness behind the new "controller" for the Wii, but will there be a substantial backlash to its idea? I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

How much time do you guys estimate you actually put into your handheld games away from the toilet? If you can't be specific, do you think your invested gaming time is minimal, comparable to, or exceeds the time you spend playing handheld games while pooping.

As juvenile as this question may sound, I'm really trying to bring up a good point. How many adult American gamers actually invest significant amounts of time in handheld games?

Like Wombat, I too was disappointed by the new Superman film. The film itself wasn't terrible, but it does appear that there were a number of fanboys among the so-called "professional critics" that gave the film huge props following pre-release screenings.

The movie wasn't everything I had hoped for following the old Christopher Reeve films. The special effects were great, but the basic storyline was pretty weak. Kate Bosworth is way too young for the role of Lois Lane, and the pacing was too slow for a summer action flick.

If the CAGcast sparked any curiosity about Japanese baseball, you might want to check out a program on PBS tonight about high school baseball in Japan. It's on the program P.O.V. and in the NYC area it's going to be on at 10 and re-run on Monday July 10 at 1:05 A.M. I read a review of it in today's Times and it looks like it's going to be interesting.

Cheapy mentioned that he was going to watch Superman there when it comes out. I was wondering if American movies are usually dubbed or subtitled when released in Japan.

Cheapy I was wondering if you ever asked for free copies of games or game swag from companies to give out as promotional prizes for newly released game? It could be a cool way to advertise for you and the game company.

To both:

If you were a video game voice actor, which game character would you be the voice of?

[P.S. Can you guys do any video game character impressions?]

Thanks guys.

It seems like I've been waiting forever for a price drop on Guitar Hero and Mario 3 for the GBA. Have either of you waited for a game to drop in price but it never seemed to come? If so what game?

How deep into the NES library do you think they will go when releasing virtual console games? What I mean by this is that there are some obscure games out there that I would like to play like Duck Tales 2. You think Big N will try to get games like these on there. My big worry is that they will only get the major titles like megaman, castlevania, sonic and peoples' individual classics will mostly get left out.

Also what NES/SNES/SEGA/Turbo Graphix games are you guys hoping to play on the VC?

You guys have mentioned that you are not big PC gamers so I was wondering if you guys would considered having a guest CAG moderator (like CaseyRyback) or someone to review PC games?

There are some great games on the PC and lots of gamers play on the PC and would like to know about these games.

OK here's a good one... what is the proper etiquette when someone (coughwombatcough) invites you to play a game on Xbox Live but you are in the middle of watching "The Family Stone" with the wife? It feels rude to just ignore the invite (especially when I'd rather play on Xbox Live than watch some chick flick) but the little pop-up icon is distraction enough and interrupting the movie to respond is probably also rude (I dare not even suggest it!). What do you do?
...Cheapy/Wombat, what do you think of Linkin Prime (CAG/Team Xbox poster)'s constant copying and pasting of articles from teamxbox.com?
I know my reply is kind of late on this but I just got word from my CAG buddy, Richlough that I was mentioned on CAGCast #34 where this question is asked and answered.

I'd like to thank CheapyD and Wombat for sticking up for me . I don't understand why some people try to give me a hard time on me doing this. I love gaming and I'm not in the industry so I can't just start threads with brand new information that has never been posted anywhere before.

Almost every site I visit, copies and pastes information from other sites, its normal. I simply do what I do because I love gaming and I love the CAG community. I like to have discussions here as opposed to the other sites. I started posting stuff from TeamXbox, which was one of the couple news sites I knew at the time. As you can see by my more recent threads I do post from other locations. If its newsworthy, I'll post it up for a discussion, simple as that. I never try to take credit for someone else's work, or mean no harm in doing so. Thanks again to the CAG's that do appreciate and understand what I do here.

CAGCast #34 was the first one I've listened to, and I'd like to say that I'm hooked. Awesome job guys :applause: .

#1 Do you think Microsoft is squandering thier chance to take a big lead in the console market by not having any first party titles come out for almost a year after the 360 launch? Or do you think just worrying about holiday sales is the smart route?

#2 Are you open to the idea of having one of Cheapys burps/slight-barfs being sponsered by a user each week or month? If so what would this cost?

I put that question as a joke, i dont really care that you copy & paste from team xbox

Wommy - Now that your 360 has gone tits-up, how do you feel? Are you pissed at Microsoft and cursing a flawed product, or are you just thinking "This happens to early adopters...I knew what I was getting into?" Also, do you think MS is lying about and/or downplaying how many consoles were really sent in for repairs or came back as defective? (Cheapy - I can't remember if you had to send yours back previously or not...if you have please answer also)

I'd like to add on to his question, since it's a good one - How much of a role do you think a steady stream of XBLA titles would play in selling 360 consoles during the usual "summer drought" that most consoles experience? Would it nudge them further towards their magic "10 million" buffer before the PS3 & Wii launch, or would it only affect people that already have the 360? Also, do you think that MS is holding back some of these previously announced XBLA titles to save as much ammuntion as possible for the holidays?

I'm not Cheapy or Wombat (although I'm kind of an amalgamation....a really tall guy that burps that is also furry and has a job I won't tell people about)...but I usually send a quick text or voice message saying "Sorry, can't right now" or something. This is if it's someone I actually give a damn about playing with/against. If it's some guy where I can't remember why he's even on my list in the first place, I ignore it.

Here's some options: If your using your X360 for an in-home date with your significant other, you might want to set your online status to "away" or "busy", or you could turn off the friend indicator, or if you're near a PC, you could log on to xbox.com and send a quick text message.

I don't recall you guys ever discussing this, but if you did, feel free to skip it:

With the year just past half over, what would be your pick for Game of the Year thus far this year? And which game do you think has the greatest chance of being your Game of the Year pick coming out in the second half of the year?

What type of game or what game would you really want to see be released on the Wii that utilizes it's features (Wii's controller(s), etc.)?

Two questions. You can do both or just one. GOD DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!

How has your interest in gaming changed over the years? Do you find yourself liking different games now that neither of you are no longer spring chickens? Or has getting long in the tooth not had any effect on your gaming persona?

Second:

In an interview with GameInformer, Hideo Kojima said "If you talk about the war between Japanese developers and those overseas, I acknowledge that we have anlready lost." Who do you think makes the best games and is winning this so called "war?" Americans? Europeans? Japanese? Lawn Gnomes?

When is the official CAG video game coming out, with CheapyD and his sidekick Wombat fighting zombie nazi best buy employees with deadly coupon launchers , Cheapy's Belch attack, and Wombat's outrageous potty mouth?

Plus special transform into Devil Customer mode, with killer combos!

Guys, do you ever do retrogaming the old fashioned way; by actually using retro consoles? Due to emulation and retro complimations, I figure out that the older games are going to be cheaper.
Especially you CheapyD, you can get a Famicom or Sega Saturn cheap over in Japan with a lot of games for a low price.

For instance, I got myself a PC Engine with CD, A/V Famicom, Sega Saturn, Japanese PS2 (so I can play Tokimeki Memorial 1 & 2) and Neo Geo MVS (via Supergun). I have a crapload of games but I wish I can find to play them due to looking for a job (feel free to snip that from the podcast).

Not that I use myspace, but have you guys ever considered making a CAGspace? You could get alot of promotion there.

Now that you guys are selling T-shirts, are you guys also going to be selling caps and beanies? What other CAG merchandise is in the works?

As a thanks for saving the porno king's life, he will instantly make an officially licensed porno starring characters from one game series and let you choose who (real life people) performs each role. Which game series and cast would you choose and why?

P.S.
No Robocop. Robocop is gay... unless he has a gay love scene.
