Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Wow, I guess I know where to use my GameRush credit now....looks GREAT.

I suppose I will choose the 360 version also....as my PS3 does not seem to like games (ok, I just don't have many) ;)
 
Oh crap this is out next week? I've barely scratched the surface of Halo but damn I may not be able to pass on this.

On another note, anyone know where I can get a clip of the "Let's do this" sound from the Beta? It'll be cool for a AIM sign on or cell phone sound.

Halo is very stale to me at this point with the limited maps and frustrating roll-of-the-dice melee system. I thought I was going to pass on this initially, but I think it's a must buy now.
 
I'm hoping the single player mode is as fun as COD2's was. I'll hit up some multiplayer but I tend to get games primarily for their single player components.

I dunno if it'll be the PS3 or 360 version for me. The 360 has a really good controller for first person shooters but if I ever get the multiplayer bug, I won't have to worry about maintaining a gold membership (I think mine's almost out).

EDIT - My god, some of those pics are unreal. Someone at AVS mentioned that it looked photorealistic. I initially scoffed but... he's pretty much right. This game really skyrocketed into my "MUST HAVE ASAP" category.
 
Ok, not a huge difference player wise--- but looks like PS3 supports 18 players max, whereas the 360 locks it in at 16 (This statement is not true).

Still more than likely getting it on 360-- unless things upend themselves graphically as more impressions and side-by-sides roll in.

Edit: So I read the whole thread and looks like IW posted about it, and 16 is max in every gametype on console except for one game mode, then it goes to 18 for both consoles. Leaving this here so I can remind myself to RTFM.

Zew the second set are still alive. You weren't missing too much on the first set besides a PS3 Menu Game Disc screen and another in game screen shot. The second set are sweet looking.
 
360 for me. Achievements and a far superior online infrastructure make any advantages the PS3 might have of no value to me.

The controller is probably the biggest deciding factor. The SIXAXIS analogs just don't cut it for an FPS game (not with that convex dome and inline setup) and the triggers are fucking pathetic (again, because of a convex shape).
 
I can see myself advancing to level 15-20 the first day. Im gonna play the hell out of this game. Halo 3 has been collecting dust, Im done with it. I may throw it in tonight to see the Halloween content, but CoD4 is the game Ive been waiting for.

Same. I really really like COD games. I played the shit out of COD3 MP even though it wasn't really that great.

I'm contemplating it since my 360 is hooked up to my SDTV upstairs and the PS3 to the HDTV downstairs. Only problem is that the wife watches that TV downstairs while I'm playing the games. Either way, I will be getting this next week.

I would get it on PS3, but I have more friends on XBL and like LIVE over the PSN. Both should be a lot of fun. I might rent the PS3 version through GFly.

I am getting this from Tony @ Lion Games, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
 
I'm actually not going to get this the minute it comes out because I need to see/hear more comparisons between the two console versions.

Right now I'm leaning towards PS3 just because I feel like the 360 deserves a break after enduring Bioshock ---> Halo 3 ---> The Orange Box. If I run one more FPS through that poor thing, it'll red ring on me.
 
i havent kept up with this, but does anybody know if it will have spltiscreen mp system link? if so is it 2 or 4 player splitscreen?

id REALLY appreciate an answer if someone knows. this is a big thing for me as i mostly play system link games. ill probably buy 6 copies with the guys from work if it does.

past CODs have had system link, but they limited the system link to one person per console. So I wouldn't doubt that this one has the same thing.

Those screenshots for the PS3 version looked amazing! Better than anything I saw in the multiplayer demo on the 360.

But I dont think I'd want to play a FPS on a Sony style controller. I have over 200 PS2 games and not one of them is a FPS due to the dualshock controller design.

That's because it's the single player.

A lot of games have better looking single players than the multiplayer.

cod3 supported more atleast 2 ircc i know cod2 didnt.

An in case of Ubisoft's MP games they look like ass compared to the single player.

Well, dont forget about Resistence... Most people baught that, beat it in a week and sold it... My PS3 is now just a BRD player, nothing else... Long live the 360, well, untill the next exclusive ps3 hotness comes out....

On that note, I ordered COD4 before my xbox lit me up, so I'll have the game here at my house before my xbox gets back... o well, at least i'll have the manual to read....
 
I totally haven't been following this game until right now ... I'm going to jump full into the hype machine starting today just because I can only devote so much time to all of the sweet games coming out.

Quick question ... I was getting smoked in the multiplayer beta - would this game still be worth my money if I decide I'm too much of a pansy to play multi and stick with single player?
 
The SP on CoD2 alone was worth my $60 when I first picked it up. Haven't heard much about the campaign on this one, but since the same team that worked on CoD2 are doing this one, I'm betting it'll be worth it. If you're on the fence try to read up on campaign previews and/or wait for reviews/CAG impressions.
 
I'm probably going to go to gamestop and use the trade 2 xbox games for an extra 10 to pay off my preorder, really sucks i didn't preorder at lions while I could, but at least I will get the game the day it comes out. Just adding to the pile of games I need to play, but this will take priority when it comes out.

That's true - Infinity Ward doesn't skim on the single player usually, but CoD 4 sounds to be pretty short. Well, maybe I can latch onto a few CAGs for multiplayer ... any takers? :D

Rent it first, then see! I quit buying many games because they are too short, I rented and finised in 2 weeks several games like halo 3, the darkness, gears of war, bioshock, etc..etc..etc.....

Games are getting SHORTER AND SHORTER, but the prices are still too @#$@$#@ high. I have a unlimited pass at blockbuster, its only $21 a month for UNLIMITED RENTALS on ANY SYSTEM! Cannot beat that!

I doubt it, as an offical beta tester for cod4 on xbox 360, it will take a LOT LONGER than that! If you wanna RANK UP, play on TEAM SERVERS, you will go no place FAST on ffa!

But up to 15-20 on one day, doubtful.

Cool, thanks. Hopefully playing with some CAGs will be more pleasant experience than getting pwned by everybody.

I've been fucking hooked on the PC demo to hold me over til the x360 version gets here. I'm starting to wonder why I ever switched to console in the first place though. xD

Have they changed the leveling up system from the one in the 360 beta? I got to the level cap of 15 in about 7-8 hours.

When they changed the limit to 25, it got alot harder to level up, but 1-15 was a cakewalk.
