Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - July Elite DLC out now, Terminal free for everyone

They released a new patch, still no details on what it did but heard that they finally fixed the issue where you make sounds by crouch walking.

I turned my video recording off since I heard it was supposed to help with the connection so of course that's when I get into a game with a hacker who runs around and shoots people from below the map. What a load of crap.

Maybe they have mentioned it before and I have missed it, why doesn't COD host their own servers like BF?
I think the game prioritizes the quality of connection over matching you players of a similar level. Wish there was something that could help you out in that regard.
I have to agree about this. But I'm also one of those people who think that playing better people makes you a better player. It's really about just learning the maps. The game itself is just like B Ops and MW2 as far as play style goes IMO. It's been a great month for me with BF3 and MW3 and both are so damn much fun to play. As I get older (yes, I am old), I really only play sports and FPS games and am still enjoying NBA 2k11.

I could not agree more. There's a third point I'd add: walk, rather than run, when you're playing a map. It's too difficult to survey your surroundings when you're moving at high speeds.

I would agree with this also, but I think that it really weights the priority towards better connection. Based on the level differences I have seen, I'm not even sure there is a 2nd level priority.

I would also agree that playing people ranked above you makes you a better player, but that has to be kept within reason. If I were to play tennis against the best tennis players in the world, I would get slaughtered and there is no chance my game would improve. I know rank isn't the only indicator of skill, but it is still a decent indicator.

There seems to be something off with the matchmaking. It is not unusual for me to be placed with several lower ranked players on a short-handed team.

I am slowly getting better (not the bottom player every game :)), but I do think there are enough people playing that getting matched up with similar ranked/skilled players shouldn't be a problem.

If anyone wants to play to play today send me an invite TakeoverClown13 because I am tired of playing with the special ed randoms.

Also is it me or has the f'ing bullet lag gotten worse? I shoot people with the 1887 and I end up running by them before they die. I wish they would send the little bit of money, compared to how much they have made, to have dedicated servers.

That would mean less money in their pockets, duh!

Agreed. Sales have been just fine without doing it, so what incentive do that have to utilize dedicated servers.

I've been trying to teach a couple of friends this concept as all they want to do is run around the map. I shoot from the hip a lot depending on distance from the enemy and when you are running, you have to stop and then take time to aim, either from the hip or red dot and that's time consuming when a fraction of a second decides whether you or the enemy gets their shot off first and accurately.

I know the feeling, I have played some players that I knew no matter how much I played or how well I knew the maps, they would always be better than me. And not just a little better, just owning me like a rented mule and I can take that beating for only so long before I rage quit...lol. My loss/ratio takes a huge hit but eh, I'm ok with it.

I'm sick of idiots who shoot me during Spec-Ops and run down my armor or do other dumb shit. Send me a FR if you want to do the Survival missions for achievements. I have 3 of the Hard difficulty and 3 of the Insane to do.

So I played some more kill confirmed today....and it is simply over my head as to why this is considered the bees knees. Its like staring at one of those mind games where if you unfocussed your eyes it turns into something else.

I like KC because it discourages camping. If all you do is snipe, then you're getting a lot of kills, but not necessarily scoring points to help you win. Also, you can die a lot and not necessarily lose if you play smart and travel in groups and pick up the tags. It's a good variant on the classic TDM.

On the topic of shotguns, I don't know about you guys, but I get killed from rediculous range and in one shot. And if you absolutely have to have one as a secondary, just run Overkill. Yeah you have to give up your red perk, but you have your guns.

I've been starting to change my mind about this game the past few days. The lag is getting so bad it's starting to remind me of BLOPS.

And the quick scoping has been taken to another level. There was this guy in a game earlier today that was no-scoping from halfway across the map.... and that was not even holding still. All you had to do was cross his field of vision briefly and you were done. This is making the online play unplayable. The MP is the only reason I got this game so it might be going to the shelf sooner than I thought.

Except that it does none of that. Or more accurately it doesnt do anything more than any other basic objective type match to discourage anything. I dont understand why anyone would think that if a person was A-Ok with sitting in the back of a level sniping on capture the flag, search and destroy or dom that they would all of a sudden get a hard on and spring to action for a dog tag. It makes no sense what so ever to me.

Again the mode is completely beyond me.

I guess I haven't run into it that much. I haven't run into quickscoping much either. If they're out there, it's hasn't hurt my winning pct. Right now I'm sitting at about a 1.2. It's only that low because my group has just now gotten the hang of the maps.

I suppose I'm just lucky.

So I went to play yesterday, and the game prompted me to download row CoD Elite application. So I signed up and I went and verified my email, so when I did it online it asked me for my password and birthdate(again) it asked me for that in the application too. I filled it in and submitted and then it told me that my double XP was redeemed or something. Not sure what it was but i like double XP. Also, does anyone know if those codes that come with mountain dew and doritos will work in Canada?

Type 95 needs to be nerfed. Also seeing fm9 akimbo spraying lately, way OP. Not cool to die to those when I'm already getting hit markers on the guy. Ran into two kids boosting in kill confirmed last night, they were glitching or something and getting insane score by dying constantly and picking up their own tags. hope there's another patch soon, not sure what this last patch did? anyone know?

Type 95 isn't that OP'd. If you can avoid the first burst, most full auto weapons should be able to get the kill before the guy using the T95 gets another burst off. Its a burst weapon for a reason, its not like it is full auto.

Turned off theatre and the very next game I got a model-shotgun, 2 kill winning kill. It looks so great in slow motion >.<

I've been obsessed with that firing range mission in special ops, the very first one. I've trimmed it down to 22.8, but some guy has done 18. I must have done it at least 30 times.

Noticed several low level people last night with colored clan tags. One guy had a green clan tag and name one players list and in game. The in game color sucked because you see green and double take at shooting even though you know the player model is enemy.

Is there any benefit to turning off theater?

Is there an in-game option to add the special Xbox icons into the clan tags now? I see the B,A, LS and RS all over the place in peoples' clan tags. Previously you could only do that through modding, right? It's kind of obnoxious to see.

The Type 95 is really, really powerful if you can hit with it. It's what I got destroyed with before, and now that I have it I can knock out people pretty quick. I feel a bit lame when I use it.

You don't need a modded console to do the Xbox icons. It's just an in-game exploit. I believe IW said anyone using these in their clan tag will have their clan tag privileges revoked.

Yea you change the language on your 360 or something and you can get buttons. They jsut make you stand out and attract bullets online. I report everyone I see in the player lists with the quick report menu in hopes they get squashed. :D

The T95 is actually a bit OP if you're going to compare it to the M16. The T95 kills much quicker it seems to me.

Yeah I do that too. It actually helps me find them with the Marksman perk.

i might be in the total minority but i am having so much fun with the shotguns now. Striker is a beast.

if you guys think the Type 95 is op. wait till you use the MP 7. That is the MW 2 ACR of SMGs. 0 recoil and stick in Rapid Fire and Silencer with 2 attachments and its EZ mode. I see this getting as many complaints as the 74u pre patch soon.

mp7 is beast lol, it is pretty OP. I still stand by my type 95 is OP statement, just played against a whole team in domination using nothing but...constantly getting one burst from around corners and camping. damn ridiculous.

I found that when I put 2 Attachments on the Type 95 with a sight and Rapid Fire...things got ridiculous. Rapid Fire is ridonkadonk on that thing.

Anyone who's skeptical of the gun's op-ness need only slap on Rapid Fire and Quickdraw. No sight required and add Stalker or Marksman to the mix if you really want to be a dick. If you aren't in the top spot of any game without trying you aren't actually looking at the screen while playing. It's practically impossible to go negative using that gun.

Try out a P90 with rapid fire and silencer....

I've heard it helps with lag related hit-detection problems. I don't see a difference though...

I can agree with that, the M16 is definitely inferior in pretty much every way in comparison to the T95.

I turned it off, didn't see much of a difference though either.

Seemed to take a while but the game is finally playing much better for me. I'm guessing it's probably due to:

-My increased familiarity with the maps
-The fact I'm using the ACR
-The game using better matchmaking

I still vastly prefer the MW2 maps but at least I'm more comfortable out there lol. One thing that's definitely improved is that it doesn't seem like I need to empty half a clip into someone now before they die. Whether that's the gun or the patches -- don't know.

the ACR isnt as accurate as MW2
I turned it off, didn't see much of a difference though either.
Same here. I haven't noticed any changes in the past week or so since I've turned off theater mode. Has Infinity Ward been able to confirm or deny this?

they said if you turn off theater mode that it would reduce the lag. Well it hasnt. just an urban myth i say.

Wow no kidding on the Type 95/Rapid Fire/Red Dot. This thing is an utter beast.

All of the maps in MW3 suck, some more than others, but I don't really like any of them like I did in Cod4 and MW2.

Bring back crash, terminal and favela. MW2 only had a few bad maps like afghan and wasteland.

Now that I've learned the maps, I like most of the maps, except Bakaara, Village and Arkaden. Of those only Arkaden is really bad IMO. Too many corners and noob tube friendly access points.

Ok, where did I miss it. I got the hardened edition and had signed up on the Elite site back some months ago. When I sign onto Elite, it shows the green skull which is supposed to show that I'm a founder and I have the winter camo meaning the same but I never did put in the code on the back of the Elite card that I received with the game. How did it put me as founder if I never put in the code?
