ChromeHounds - Gen. Discussion & Info

So, uh, what the hell kind of game was that last team battle? We were supposed to avoid shooting the other team?

I knew something was up because everyone kept running. Was it just a COMBAS grab?

Sorry guys, had to get out so my youngest could play Worms. It had nothing to do with that game ;).
Was it the Smash Everything battle? I think that you are supposed to destroy as many buildings as possible.
If that's the case boy were we using the wrong tactics!

I don't remember it telling us anything in particular - just started us up in 2 teams like the one before (where we were definitely trying to kill each other).

I saw a bunch of you guys tonight, but I decided to hold off on joining in. Did you guys play that free-for-all game mode? I figured we'd have too many to do the regular team missions, but my Hounds suck for those free-for-all skirmishes.

The match type is indicated in small type in the lower left. It should be right on top of the screen in big, bold letters to let you know what's what, but...

I just grabbed a fast wheeled HOUND, some machine guns, and ran around destroying bases and buildings. Someone on my team said that you get a penalty for destroying other HOUNDs.

We spilt up at first, then just did 2 free-for-all games (then I ducked out). It looks like they went back to War missions after that. I'm still hoping to pop back on in an hour or two and will just do some single-player War missions if no one else is there. Funny thing - I jumped in one before everyone else got on and didn't realize at first that another player joined in. I got my ass kicked - it was 100x harder than any vs CPU mission I've done .

Rusty - hmmm, I didn't see anything, but then I was being distracted before the match started. Does it show during the match or just in the briefing screen? Damn, that would have been fun if we knew what it was all about!

We did both. The new recruits went on missions, and the veterans went on missions as well. Then we did a few free-for-alls.

Great matches tonight guys. This Thursday is Rainbow Six Vegas day for us Hostile CAGs. I should be on between 730-830p PST. We should be able to play some mssions if you guys want or terrorist hunt, or any other gametype. I don't have the new maps yet, but I could get them if you guys have them and we can play those as well.

I'm going to have to miss that one as I don't have Rainbow 6. Chromehounds is really the only game that I play online.

Even if we have 6 or more on, we'll just split up into two teams like we did last night when we had 8 people on for awhile. Don't let too many people online playing deter you from joining in.

Also, we had a pretty nice Rainbow Six group going yesterday before I hopped on to Chromehounds, so pegging Thursday as a Rainbow Six day would be good. Lots of CAGs play.

Edit: Also, that Rainbow Six group is here: http://www.cheapyd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141255 and I mentioned getting on at 9 EST but that would easily roll into Linkin's suggestions of 1030-1130 EST. So, just keep that in mind. We've gotten nice sized groups in the past.

I have rainbow and the new maps are great. If you really like the game you should pick them up Linkin. Rainbow is my most played game next to chromehounds. I love it. I'll try to hop on Thursday.

I was ready to jump on R6 but I decided to try Dirt out while some of you guys jumped on and I got hooked playing that. What's everyone playing tonight?

I'll probably be on with dirt tonite...I love their xbl interface (just wish there was voice chat, though). I can also hop on with shadowrun if anyone wants to scrimmage.

the no voice chat does suck major balls. Last night was fun Toper but you screwed my winning streak up by killing us in those last few races. Damn you were fast on a few of those races.

I'm up for more Chromehounds tonight.

How do the DiRT multiplayer games work? I heard that it wasn't traditional MP. I have it coming form GameFly hopefully soon. Been 3 days today with nothing shipped, they are freakin' slow.

I'd be up for some Chromehounds if people are going to hop on. Gaming in a group is simply more fun, so I pretty much follow where the groups form. Fingers crossed, I'll be home all night tonight. I need a break after being out late last night.

Hehe, looks like my messed-up driving style (which sucks for forza) translates well into this game! :)

Hey LP,

It works pretty well (considering it IS based on rally racing, which alot of people don't understand involves racing against the clock/course moreso than other vehicles). Would've loved to have ghost cars of your opponents as an option, but at least you can follow your opponents progress compared to yours in realtime.

The lobby interface is both good and bad...the bad is no voice chat (which is probably a blessing in public games). The good is that everyone gets to vote for which course to race on (with the vehicle to be used tied to course voting also). There is an amusing little "text chat" where you can enter canned responses while the race loads, as well.

Overall I like the setup...nice and laid-back with no headset required (for you shy types). And races aren't that long, either, so you can hop in and out of sessions at your leisure.

Hell, out of town this week so no hounds yet again. Just drop me from the squad if you need the slot and you can add me back once I get my crap together and start playing regularly. I really want to start playing this again (even though my hound still sucks).

I finished off the single-player last night (finally got all the 'S' ranks - the key in that last Heavy Gunner mission which I found impossible with the default hound was to switch it to something else with more ammo which made it a breeze).

Then I jumped online to do a mission or two and found out Morskoj had won the war. That was kind of a surprise because we only had 36% control (with Tarakia controlling all the rest) just last week when I played. Anyways, got the achievement for that, so that was nice.

Looks like a new one has started up - can we jump over to Sal Kar now? I'm sure some of the other new guys would appreciate a new place to buy parts from as well.
Another vote for Sal Kar. I need to do some shopping there.

Anyways, we up for tomorrow?
sal kar X3
im on for tomorrow night. im on for ch every night pretty much though =)

I just bought this game last night. I'm gonna take a week to start learning the ins and outs of the game and then try to make it to this groups meetings. Anyone who has any tips for the new guy to the game, they are more than welcome.

Good way to learn is just get online with us (tonight maybe) and try it out. I just bought one of the stock hounds to get started and I've modified from there. That's probably a good way to go and you might get lucky and find someone with some extra cash to get you started too.

what he said.
i wasted far to long tryign to figure the game out offline when i couldve done far quicker online, and had more fun with cags to boot.
I'll be on at about 8:30 PST
I gots to mow the lawn and then take a shower - but 8:30 Pacific sounds perfect as it is 7:30 now. That is, if the family lets me ;).

When I was on last night it didn't look like Sal Kar was doing too well, so we'll see how long we last in this war. What happens if your nation is destroyed? Do you have to sit out till the next war starts?

You still get to play, but only in your capital. If you do well, you can revive your nation and open up other maps.

I'll be on around 8:30 Pacific. If anyone needs cash, just ask me and I'll send over a million or two your way.

It's looking more like 9pm for me, so just go ahead and start whenever and I'll jump in when I can.

Ramo I have a friend who really wants to join the squad. Is there anyway we can make room for one more person? Let me know what you can do. Doesn't really post at all but is a member of CAG.

Thanks

I'll have to see who we can drop.

Has Cheapy or Shipwreck shown any interest in playing again? If not that can open 2 spots.

Not at all.
Not at all.
I've messaged both of them about it and they both said they're interested but don't ever seem to show up. Could we add them on the fly in the unlikely event that either of them showed up some Tuesday night?

I'm down for some RB6 action with the old crew (and new faces)...please let me know when you guys get together for this one, thanks.
