wheres the nyc show anyways?
Manhattan Center. It's a block behind Madison Square Garden. It holds about 1200 people. It's basically at the same place they held the 05 and 06 One Night Stand shows, except its in a smaller portion inside the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Whats so special about Misawa ?
His match against Bret Hart.
I just get general admission when I go to the Philly shows. I haven't purchased my ticket yet but will probably sometime this week or next.

A friend of mine is heading to both shows, for the NYC show he bought front row balcony.
Where in Baltimore are you? I just put in for 2 4th row tickets... total was around $58. This'll be my first ROH show, definitely looking forward to it. :)

Perry Hall

I've enjoyed most of the Philly shows I've been to, the weakest has to be when Morishima beat Homicide for the belt.

I guess I forgot to mention that when you were planning that last trip to NYC. You said you probably wouldn't be able to make it so I just dropped it.

The thing with the Manhattan Center is that the front and second row usually sell out right away and the place has sold out every single time a ROH event has been held there. I'll be getting GA tickets since I am a CAG and get there around 8AM or 9AM.

GA ticket holders have a first come, first serve type thing. The earlier you get there, the better the seats you can land. There is a raised stage area where if you can run in and get the front row, you have a CLEAR view of the ring and the action with no one in your way.
2 nights only. Philly and NYC. Friday November 2nd and Saturday 3rd. I'm trying to get myself a ride for Philly but I'm a definite for NYC.

I don't how much it means to you, but since this may be a once in a lifetime chance to see Misawa in the United States, if you want to come down for one of those shows, I'd be willing to let you crash at my place. I'm sure his asking price was a quite a bit so ROH probably can't justify bringing Misawa outside of Philly and NYC (which they always sell out).

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

EDIT - JJSP Thanks for the pictures and the video. I wish I could see Shelly live again. ::cries::
I'll give it some thought. I've got a lot of work going on at the moment, and doing a lot of traveling for rollerderby in September and October (going to PA, MN, and CO). We'll see if it's financially feasible. Nevertheless, I appreciate the offer.

No problem man. My house is huge so giving you a place to sleep won't be an issue. GA tickets are $20 and odds are we'd get really good seats since me and a friend would be heading there early. Send me a PM or something when it's easier for you to make a decision.
Benoit's Brain Testing Results are in:

Credit: http://www.prowrestling.com/article/news/6098
Wow,

If this is true, this changes some things for me. Ok, first off, no excuses. But, change the scenario.

What if there was a couple married for 50+ years, and at the age of 85, the husband snaps and kills her and himself. Is this right? Obviously not.

But, over time, you try to look past that last indescretion, and look at everything as a whole. If his brain was that damaged, we can never know what was going through his head. How clouded his judgement was. I don't forgive or forget the incident, but I can far more easily still celebrate the wonderful career that Benoit had.

One thought though, if Benoit's brain was really that messed up, shouldn't it have been at least partially noticeable on the mic?

It was that brick shot Edge got in on him that did it.

Michael Jackson's mic work is great..but he has done some really messed up stuff.... my point is.. this type of stuff is not something you can notice or monitor.. who knows..maybe people closest to Benoit knew what he was capable of and maybe thought that he wasn't serious or ignored it because it wasn't their problem...

As I mentioned in my PWInsiderXtra.com Q and A today, they current plan is for CM Punk to hold the ECW Title until John Morrison comes back, then he will lose it back to the now former champ. Yes, I know this will tick a lot of people off. Yes, I also hope WWE comes to their senses in the next month and doesn't Orton Punk by making him a short term champ.

Called it.

The Benoit brain test revelations definitely make it easier to understand what Chris Benoit did - it doesn't excuse it, but it does provide some level of explanation. While he made victims out of both the family he killed and the family he left behind in the wake of his actions, he was a victim as well - a victim of his own passion for his profession, and that profession's callous attitude towards its performers.

Aka - He was insane.

Watching those Vader videos brings up a question. Who in the US, other than Cactus Jack, had really good matches against Vader? I'm 99% certain there were none in WWF/E back when Vader was getting buried, what about WCW? I want to say that I heard about some good Sting vs. Vader matches but I haven't seen any myself.
I wonder if they'll ban the flying headbutt, or any other head-trauma moves.
I know that he said he couldn't remember his address, but I'm not so sure about forgetting how to get home.
You'll be even more pissed then that his match with American Dragon is going to be the match of the year.
Nope. I've come to realize that for every fan who had no idea who the guy was there were about 500+ who knew him. Also, Dragon is in the match.

Booker is believed to have been suspended and might be gone from the company, along with Sharmell, who could be leaving wrestling completely to get into law practice. Vader and Sting had tremendous matches on a regular basis - that's actually my favorite series with him. Vader and Ray Traylor also had tremendous chemistry in their matches. Vader and Shawn had some good matches, but they're hurt by Vader never actually beating him for the belt.

I hope WWE nixed chair shot and stiff blows to the head - concussions are nothing to mess with, and wrestlers not taking time off just leads to them stacking, leading to the damage becoming far worse. Umaga's unprotected chairshots had me cringing as those are a recipe for concussions.

No details yet, but it happened on WWE's international tour. Not sure if it was a mistake or if it will even be acknowledged on TV.

Currently Benoit's signature moves (triple suplex, flying headbutt, crossface) are all banned. Also banned are any chokeholds, unless said wrestlers receives special permission. So this is why Cena is still allowed to go out there and choke on Vince's wang.

The best news today is WWE has supposedly made Jericho a 7-digit offer to comeback full-time. Hopefully he can't turn it down, and returns in time for WM24.

Spoilers AHOY!

Speaking of Terry Taylor (from a few pages ago), I'm watching him hock Splenda on a late-night infomercial, entitled "A Sweet Taste for Glory".

https://www.splendajourney.com/page.jhtml?id=sweettea

Edit:
Oh god...

Taylor: "SAY IT!!!"
Jobber: "SPLENDA TASTES LIKE SUGAR!"
Taylor: "WHY!?!?"
Jobber: "BECAUSE IT'S MADE FROM SUGAR!"

I guess he really never did recover from that Red Rooster gimmick.

It all could have been different for Terry Taylor had he been given the "Mr. Perfect" gimmick like it was originally planned. Instead, he became the Red fucking Rooster.

Was wondering if anyone is digging ECW (even though it seems there are a handful of people present). I'm psyched that CM Punk is the new ECW champion and just gotta love his gimmick. Wasn't much of a Morrison fan... and all that... "flamboyance".
I know that he said he couldn't remember his address, but I'm not so sure about forgetting how to get home.
Yeah, I've heard that too (was that in Beyond the Mat?) I think Foley's state should be as good of a reason for some changes to be done as anything else.

Honestly, are head chair shots really neccessary? In the 80's, I remember most of the chair shots being to the back, and they can be as impressive. Sure, it makes a sick sound, but it's not worth killing the performers over. Honestly, when they are on the ground, you could probably miss completely, and have it still look good.

That Terry Taylor video is just... fabulous. It's just perfect - endless comedy. Between Terry's yell and him forcing a wrestler to shill Splenda while in an armbar, I'll be able to watch that forever and still be entertained.

Head chair shots should be saved for a really special occasion.

They have the ability to take a match to another level if used properly (Rock/Mankind I Quit Royal Rumble 1999)

That match led to permanent brain damage for Foley without question - just because they 'take a match to a new level' doesn't mean they should be used. Unprotected ones should be completely eliminated, and at most, protected ones should be used very infrequently.

I agree. When I think of inappropriate chair shots, that match is at the forefront of my mind. I hated The Rock for months after that match. I'm not the kind of smark who tries to interpret how wrestlers communicate with each other during matches, but it was crystal fucking clear during that match that, on several occasions, Foley (after being handcuffed) was feeding his back to The Rock. Meanwhile, Rock walked around Foley and planted a chair shot straight down his head (not even the "swipe across the head" technique so many others use). It was immensely difficult to watch, completely unprofessional, and thoroughly disrespectful to Foley.

If that's the kind of match I wanted to see, I'd watch UFC instead.

Those chairshots that Umaga took on RAW will be sure to shave a few years off of his consciousness.

Triple H hit him with the leg of the chair, which made me grimace.

The Foley/Rock and Umaga/HHH shots were the ones that came to mind when I was typing that up. Rock definitely took way too many liberties with Foley, and looks like an even bigger asshole when you consider that he didn't even apologize to Mick after the match. HHH's shots on Umaga were needlessly hard - especially after the studies by Nowinski's group showed how much long-term damage could be caused by concussions. WWE clearly knew about that, but still didn't have Umaga protect his head during that assault.

Probably not, but he doesn't want to look weak either.

Mick Foley wrote in his second book that he was angry at the Rock for going beyond their agreement that the Rock would give Foley 5 chairshots in the "I Quit" Match and wound up giving him 11. In addition, Foley wrote that his feelings were hurt when the Rock didn't show up backstage to check up on him after the match. The Rock would later apologize to Foley for this. Rock apologized for the misunderstanding in his paperback book and said he was sure he had checked on him. When Foley talked to a producer he confirmed Rock checked on him so Foley apologized to him.

This week's edition of ECW on Sci Fi bounced back in the ratings doing a strong 1.6. This makes it the highest rated show on Sci Fi for the day. CM Punk winning the ECW championship is much credited for the spike.

I wonder if they'll still take the belt off Punk when Morrison comes back.
