Demon's Souls - Atlus & From Software's Action RPG - October 6

2-2 done, bitches. Thanks to getting my body back from defeating 3-1, I summoned two helpers and the flamelurker didn't even touch me.

I beat flame lurker and Dragon God today. Trying to beat Man eater but I keep falling I might try the first boss in world 4 as I can one hit kill all the skeletons (except for the red eye). Game has been taking a toll on my social life since my B-day.

Is there any advice for the dog things in 1-2? They run at me so fast I can't get anything off to even kill one of the two. Maybe I should go through 1-1 again to gain some levels.

What I did with the dogs in 1-2 is Shoot an arrow at one, switch to melee, block their jumping rush, then hit it until they died. Then rinse and repeat until they are all gone. If they all attack you at once they can overwhelm you since they're so fast.

For the dog parts on 1-2. Start walking slowly on the stop where you know the dogs will appear. And lure them 1 by 1. It's harder to fight them if they're in groups.
That guy you save through out world 1 will give it to you after you save him in 1-4. Alternatively, he drops it when he dies.
Now that I've had some sleep I realized that duh, I didn't have the key after starting a NG+ because they strip you of them. Also, fair warning about talking to the Black Maiden after defeating 1-4: do not talk to her before you're ready! They give you no chance to back out or any confirmation dialogue which is BS. I was trying to dump the 100k souls I had before finishing the game and she just sent me on my way! Really terrible design there.
Nice. I haven't even started the game and people who got the game a week ago beat it already, lol. Grats, Jodou.
Thanks!
The guide makes special mention that the gap between a regular game and your first + game is the largest. It says there is an increase after that, but it is not near as large or noticeable.
Thank god. I'm still breezing through NG+ for the most part, but certain fights I still feel like I'm a little underpowered. I'll farm souls for a bit and get my faith up more.
Trying to beat Man eater but I keep falling I might try the first boss in world 4 as I can one hit kill all the skeletons (except for the red eye).
For some reason, this is the only fight that I keep having to come back to. You really have to dish out damage fast to these guys or else they will eventually cheese you. Can't tell you how many times I can do nothing to save myself because they just completely pin you. It's honestly the only fight I hate because there's really not much skill to it and more of luck as to what they decide to do. Considering just about every other boss fight in the game is a joke once you have the strategy down, this one is just way out of place.

So, I think I'm going to adopt this strategy for every boss. Kill myself in the nexus, go down to where the boss is in a level, use one of those stones to get my body, summon help, defeat boss easily.

Trying to get through 5-1 now because I want the spell you get from the boss demon. Apparently, it's really easy to kill the dragon in 1-2 with it.

Anyone else feel kinda guilty killing the miners in 2-1 or the prisoners in 3-1? I have to kill even the prisoners in 3-1 that aren't crazy and attack you because the fuckers keep getting in my damned way with their constant following me around and cheering. GET OUT OF THE WAY *blasted by a 'flayer spell. dead...

I'm probably missing something, but why do you need to kill yourself in the nexus for that strategy to work?

Well just encountered some sort of co-op glitch. On 3-1 I and another blue phantom helped the thief beat the boss. We go to the pedestal and the cutscene never triggers. Level won't end. We even exit the fog, refight the boss to no avail.

Well, you don't need to, but I usually die on my way to the boss at least once, so killing myself in the nexus keeps away those pesky tendency changes toward black.

For all of the other Royals out there, did you buy the fireball spell or stick to soul arrow - will fireball hit much harder?

I started going through 1-1 again to gain some more levels, although I'm not really sure where the points should be going - now magic since I'm assuming I will start hitting harder.

When you say "fireball" do you actually mean fireball or flame toss? I assume flame toss. I started out as a magician and I bought soul arrow as soon as I could, and that's pretty much all I've used since. Some enemies are weak to fire though, so it's good to use against those (such as the 1-1 boss).

As for what to put your points in. I have 13 vit, 30 int, 10 end, 11 str, 11 dex, 27 magic, 12 faith, and 11 luck.

That's no glitch, if your talking about the level I'm thinking of
theirs a guy up stairs that says don't kill him because he wont be a problem although he is one of the bad guys. Well he keeps regenerating the boss of that level so you have to kill him then go back and kill the boss again but this time it'll stay dead.

Yeah, that's that level.

So, I've beaten 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1. I also beat that red dragon on 1-2 with poison cloud extremely easily, I think I only cast it twice.

I finally got my insanity catalyst and am highly disappointed. It raises my magic damage but lower my mp to below 100. I'll probably only use it for boss battles.

Yeah, I meant the flame toss. Sounds like I might as well just stick to soul arrow.

Good to know about that insanity catalyst. Was looking forward to making it. Now I don't know.

I haven't played any of 3 yet, but I kill miners over and over and over again. Only they drop certain things. I have to farm them...

Yeah, the insanity catalyst drops your MP to half. It's best to get the tailsman of beasts since it lets you cast both spells and miracles and raises both of their power.

Also, the prisoners in 3-1 drop the shards that lets you make crescent weapons.

Thanks. Alright, that makes sense. I when I defeated the level solo I definitely killed that little goblin guy. Ugh, so much of this game is unexplained in a typical Japanese fashion. I didn't bother with that guy when I was a blue glowie because I just wanted to hurry to the end of the level and get my souls...i.e. not waste time showing the PLAYER how to save Freke, etc.

It's amazing how you get better at the game by just playing the section over. It's similar to old NES games (Mario for example) where when you return to parts that were hard at first you end up being able to run through them, even without upgrading anything.

Is there any place to open doors in 1-2 to make it faster? I just got to and died on the boss but did not see anything I could open. Just before the boss there were metal chains attached to a gate of some sort but I couldn't figure out anything to do with them.

Just beat 1-2 boss with a bow. It was way easier with a bow then the couple of times I tried with melee.

I keep on picking up all of these "broken" type items like broken sword and slave shield. Is there any use to these? From what I can tell, you can't sell stuff, so if should I just drop them?

How many arrows should I pack to kill the dragon in 1-2? Also, are miracle spells worth investing in for a jack-of-all trades type character?

Game is tough, but enjoyable.
So, why can't I upgrade the Crescent Falchion+1 I picked up in 4-1?
You have to upgrade it with a certain type of ore.

slave shield is useless, broken sword should be kept (can be upgraded nicely later), you can just deposit everything with stockpile thomas (99 of each, 999 arrows) so I'd keep everything you can.

Depends what level you are and what kind of bow you have, on the safe side I'd say 200-300 arrows, that'll guarantee just in case you're not doing enough damage.

I'm Soul Level 80 something and I just have to beat the final boss. I'm farming a little to get to Soul Level 100 just so I'm not underprepared.
You have to upgrade it with a certain type of ore.
Oh, so if you don't have the ore, the blacksmith wont even show the option?

Which ore do you need, and where do you find it?

I recommend everyone pick up Poison Cloud, it's awesome.
Oh, so if you don't have the ore, the blacksmith wont even show the option?

Yeah, he won't show it unless you have some of the material.
It requires darkmoonstone and it's in area 4. Word of warning, 4-2 is very difficult. I suggest you be in body form for it and summon help to do the work for you because...
There are like 3 Reaper enemies in there, and as long as they're alive they keep summoning these shadowmen enemies and the reapers also have a very strong magic attack. But, it also appears that the reapers have a 100% drop chance of a splinter or chunk
Oh, so if you don't have the ore, the blacksmith wont even show the option?

It should still come up even if you don't have the proper ore, my guess is
your going to the wrong blacksmith, theirs a second blacksmith in level 2-1 I believe who can do more things then the guy at the nexus.

So I got through all of 3-1 and 4-1... and just before entering the fog for the bosses I turned my ass around and ran back to the nexus. I'm too afraid of losing my precious souls! I think I'll try the 3-1 boss in my next run though. Gotta face it eventually, eh?
Erm... I probably shouldn't have eaten the first two boss demon soul's, huh?
Yeah, don't eat boss souls. They are used for
unique items/spells.

Oooo. I just beat 2-1 and I didn't see a blacksmith.

Better look it up.

Also, it really helps to level up in 4-1.

2-1 was a breeze.

Zmonkay, I wouldn't worry about the boss of 3-1.
Use ranged attacks on her and use the pillars as cover from her spells.

I would definitely not worry about the boss of 4-1.
Keep hitting the spot on his stomach and he'll keel over. When he does smack the shit out of the bird on his head. When he swings his arm back to strike just move counterclockwise around him and he will always miss. Probably the easiest boss fight in the game.

Man, I just invaded someone, and it was awesome. I didn't actually fight anyone, but it was awesome none-the-less, haha.

Came into his world on 2-1, and started looking for him. He summoned someone to help him, so I wasn't about to go 2v1. The tension knowing he could be around the corner, and when I actually caught up and could hear them fighting was amazing. But, the phantom he summoned to help looked pretty beefy, so I left the world after watching them from a ways away for a couple minutes.

Damn, I think I just screwed myself out of the Fragrant ring :[

I gave the crow the telescope thing, went back to the nexus, and when I came back, he was just talking about shiny items again :[[[[

I beat 2-1 :)
Should I go to 1-3, 2-2, or 3-1 next?
Also where do I find the guy that sells better spells?

You find Freke in 3-1. Overall a pretty easy level. You have to get all the way to the end though to find the key to unlock Freke's cell.
It should be next to the tree trunk, search all around it seanr1221.
Definitely not there. I pushed X all over the place.

I was supposed to leave after I dropped it, right?

Well, I think a little thing will appear on the ground no matter where you drop it, but if she didn't say anything then you dropped it in the wrong place (which seems like the case).

That sucks if you lost it, best get on making a decent crescent weapon.

I just made my large sword of searching from a kilij. Certainly will come in handy going forward with future farming. I beat 4-2 (obviously) and now am not sure what I want to do. Probably will finish out 4 and then head on to 3.
