Dang, I didn't get invited to the cool kids table. I was wondering why it was rather silent here. All good though.

I just got a Darkblade Helmet to drop which helped and some high 290+ rares. So I finally have two characters up to acceptable levels. The grind continues...

 
I love the grind. Got a 300 helmet today, so that was cool. I need to do six more strikes to get the Dead Orbit class item, which I'm going to try to infuse up to 300.

Did a few ToO tier 3's with NJ and that was fun. Even though we failed more times than we completed it I think.

Hah. I tried for like 4 hours earlier in the day. You can see my rant in the Xbox One thread.

Long story short: finally got a great crew to do it just before reset, started at 1:40 Pacific. Finished at 2:01 (with a minute to spare on the time). No fuck ing rewards because of reset. So, yeah, screw this game.

Yeah. I found a bunch of randoms spamming the CoO and joined in. They invited me to their party and had another friend join in my Fireteam. Very strange situation but I ended up finishing the Antiquated Rune several times. Prof. Stotch missed out on the full experience since he didn't have a mic. It was....special.
 
We had a team of 8 (6 plus 2 randoms) in there on Tuesday. It was tons of fun wrecking little Crota a handful of times after getting the randoms to invite our people in.
 
Still looking for some people to play with, I haven't gotten Taken King yet, because I haven't finished most of the other stuff. Do you think we'll see a sale on Taken King Digitally any time before Christmas? I already have all the other content, and the game digitally.

 
Mostly chill night of Destiny'g. Was still feeling burned out from the Black Spindle hunt, like most of my group.

Did a bit of Court, one nightfall and then Heroic strikes.

Afterwards, switched to my warlock to work on it's level. I can now hit at least 291 on all 3 of my toons.

Now to wait and see if my friends have alt toons high enough to do multiple raid runs. I really want to start maxing my opportunities of getting the raid ghost and weapons.

You mean to get the artifact?

A buddy said you need to be rank 5 to buy stolen runes from Eris. Those let you do level 2 fights in CoO.

I'm currently rank 4 1/2 with Eris but got level 1 & 2 done by joining up with friends who had those other runes. Held off on level 3 until we see more people hanging around CoO.

You might see a sale on digital collector's edition. That happened last year around X-mas (about $68). Don't remember ever seeing the individual packs ever going on sale though, so might not happen for the "TTK only" pack.

Best savings opportunity is probably buying the retail copy at BestBuy, with GCU discount, then trade in the disc that it comes with. The TTK part is a digital code anyway, so you don't need the disc.

LoL. It gets easier, unless you're carrying pugs ;) .

And not getting anything at the Ogre drop sucks... that's why I want to do multiple runs.

RNG hasn't been the nicest to me so far. Really want the Ghost shell more than anything else (and there are like 3 chances for it to drop in the first half, which means I'm like 0 for 6 so far :bomb: ). Figure that'll push me to the high 290's

 
I already had that Eris quest for the lv 300 artifact before hitting rank 5 with her. It's not that. I don't even think that quest is linked to the calcified fragments because I barely got my 5th one last night and my 300 artifact quest is already done.

Edit: from what I found online it seems you have to complete any tier in court if oryx then Eris will hand you the quest next time you are in the tower. So Matt have you ever beat a court of oryx challenge? They are all really easy and take a few minutes at most.

Crap, sorry. Still have pop-up notifications off. I checked for you when I signed on and you weren't online yet, so I actually already played through and beat the next mission myself. It's pretty easy. Then the one following that awards 20 legendary marks. ;-)
 
Killed Oryx on my hunter and titan with Jimmy, 7th, and a few other friends. I got the scout, pulse, and machine gun on my hunter using the moldering shards, and a second scout on my titan. I still need to do the rest of the raid on my titan and then I'll work on my warlock some more.
 
I think I'll have to raid this weekend. It's getting to a point where very few groups are willing to let in people who haven't done it, and it's only been a week.

I need to try it as well. I just reached 290 yesterday and am sitting at 291 currently.

What's a good exotic weapon to buy the Year 2 upgraded version of? I have only purchased Truth and Hawkmoon thus far, but I have the blueprints for all the Year 1 stuff that got upgraded. I'm up to 193 legendary marks and need to spend some.

Suros seems to be a popular choice. I grabbed Red Death because I never used it much in year 1. I'll probably get Suros next.

 
Beat Oryx with my hunter and got pulse rifle, scout rifle, and 310 ghost. Beat him on my titan and got hand cannon, auto rifle, and rocket launcher. Both times i had the 20 materials for extra drops. The raid is fun, and i like the team work aspect. But at the same time it can be annoying when one little thing screws up a good run. But overall i really like this raid, and its getting easier each week. Pretty soon we should be able to clear the whole thing in a couple hours.

Right now i want to try to work on getting my other 2 legendary/exotic swords, and the Chalice of malice or whatever its called. Heard its really good for the oryx boss fight.

I think 7th beat it with other people earlier. Dylan and I missed out because we thought the time was cst not est. we were home just messed up. I think they beat the daughters and are on oryx

The only issue with that is getting the same group together for consecutive nights. We tend to struggle when we keep rotating new players in to an existing raid team. The teamwork gets screwed up (unless they already have the mechanics down and help lead) and people start getting frustrated.

I'm fine with it being anywhere between an hour to maybe an hour and a half in length. Having very limited time to game I thought the Crota raid was perfect as far as time goes. But I understand if the more hardcore Destiny players enjoy the longer raids.

 
Once the mechanics are down and people farm it for weeks the raid gets much faster as with any expansion. Very sorry about the time mix up last night
 
I know one of the first few teams to beat the raid did it again in under 45 minutes not long after. Once people learn all the fights and get geared it shouldn't take long at all. The jumping puzzles will probably take longer than the raid.
 
I did the raid up to the golgoroth part but then had to bail. We were five guys who have never done it and one that had and it didn't take us long at all. The jumping section actually took a while since one guy just couldn't make it over. I did it on my first try because I'm awesome at games. And all I've picked up was a machine gun.
 
How long does it take to get to the first drop/chest? Is it possible for a light level of 275 to get up to there or will I just be holding a group back. College work is tearing through whatever little of my destiny time i have :(

Hardest part is the intro fight, so if you have a decent team you should get through fine.

First real challenge would be the Warpriest fight... that would be rough if you're all in the 270's

Oh and there's another chest you can get on your way to the first, another loot opportunity.

I'm more than halfway done with the Crucible quest line.  Currently on the 6th part, which is actually fairly easy (5 wins by 1200 pts or more).  Won't be long before I have access to those special Shaxx bounties.

Gonna suck going through all that again for my other toons... #notenoughtime

 
It doesn't sound like it from what I've read but is there anyone else out there just getting into Destiny? I started playing today up to level 6 and maybe high 20s for light, not sure. Enjoying the game so far but would be nice to play with other people who are similar levels.

Did most of it with randoms and things went fine, for the most part. Think I had 2 losses at most. Helps that I can wreck with Hopscotch on most of the maps. Actually went better than I thought it would.

Well, don't know if anyone else is just starting out, but it wouldn't surprise me if some current players would start a new run for an alternate character.

 
I found strikes to be the best way and xur is good because you can get a decent amount of coins from strikes. I really recommend the strike playlists because you get the bonus drop chance for doing them in a row
