Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

At least it wasn't the 35!

Speaking of PoE, it looks like I'll be home most of today. I plan to get some serious reading done, but would anyone like to do the 32 PoE sometime? Got the Crota raid thing going on at 6 P.M. Pacific, so it'd have to be before that.

That armor core will get my white-man-jumping Warlock to level 34!

We didn't have any problems with the maze. It was getting down to the area in the first place and then ascending the cliff to the chest. Everything is so dark and the cliffs are covered in Vaseline.

That alone will get you lots of friends, LOL. But yeah i never do 28 POE, but i get exotics a lot from 32 and 34. Save your keys for those chests.
Oh believe me i tried everything lol. I think it was confirmed all chest have same chances of exotic. May be I'll try a lvl 34 chest again today.

adjust yo brightness
It's only that specific part of that game, though. Everything else in games looks exactly right on these settings, including everything else in Destiny. Raising the brightness helped for that part last night, but it makes the rest of the game look too bright and washed out.

Yep I used to always take the brightness on my TV from a 50 all the way up to 100 when I was jumping down to the maze. The same thing goes for the lamp section of Crota. Those parts are just way too dark otherwise. I remember the first time I ran Crota right at launch with my friends. Every 5 seconds someone was falling in a hole that they couldn't see until we all turned the brightness up.

Got a Skolas kill done last night and received the pulse rifle with Solar burn. Too bad it was paired with the stun captain perk.

Going to hold onto it for now but it's still annoying that these perks don't line up better with the elemental type.

And doesn't seem like you can get another shader either, shame.

Hit the gorgon chest 3x and walked away with shards. Thinking about it, I believe everyone I was with got shards only, no exotics.

I thought the exotic chance came from opening any of the challenge PoE's (32,34,35). But even then it was only one shot per week, as in the 1st chest you opened that week for that toon.

BTW, I've gone about 3 weeks without an exotic drop from PoE and think I've only pulled 4 total since HoW dropped.

You could also try switching to movie mode for that section. That's what I would do on my set.

It was a quick button change on my remote and it provided enough of a difference so that I could easily see everything.

No need to dig thru menu prompts.

I've gotten an exotic on my second POE chest opening, I think 2 weeks ago at the most recent? I think it was even with you, we were spamming 32/34, and I got the chest on the second run (opened it on both runs).

Regarding brightness, my BenQ monitor that I use had an option for the HMDI RGB PC Range. One setting, the default, made all of the darks very rich and deep black. The flipside was that shadowy areas were dark as BALLS.

I changed it over to the higher range, and suddenly everything ceased being murky/inky black (ESPECIALLY in Crota's End). I also run my monitor is "photo mode" all the time, which is a higher contrast/brightness setting w/out color over-saturation that plagues "game" and "movie" modes in my experience.

tl;dr = Pick a higher HDMI RGB range if your display supports it, and try choosing "photo" mode in your displays preset modes (or just toy around with one you like.)

I can try connecting to my phone as an access point if things get desperate...
Give me your email and password and i will buy it for you. Then download all the games you bought in ps store. ;)

PS, why does batman have to have really hard trophies. All predator takedowns, 15 different move combo, 69 AR stars. fuck im never getting these. The predator takedowns prob wouldnt be hard if the game actually told you what the moves were so i didnt have to google it, and also i have no idea if they count or not when i do them. But the fact that ill never get 69 AR stars and the 15 move combo makes the rest of the trophies pointless to go after, since i wont get the Plat.

Are the AR stars similar to the combat challenges from Batman AA?

I thought that was cool and 100% that game, but never bothered with the ones in AC.  Kinda sounds like I may not bother with AK's challenges.

Yeah they are the same. I will say the scarecrow nightmare ones are actually FUN. The rest arent. Combat, Predator, Tank battle, some mode like burnout where you crash into cars to take them out which isnt as fun as the burnout version, race tracks that would be fun if two werent riddler type tracks with obstacles in your way to kill you in one hit. I think im done with the batman. But idk if i want to go back to destiny yet. I can still play Walking Dead season 1, AC Freedom cry, Borderlands 2, want to finish all the LA Noire trophies, Alice the madness continues, the list goes on. LOL

Crazy weapon changes incoming. Sounds like typical reactionary nerfs to things people are using too much, which is just going to result in something else becoming the new OP weapon.

Im glad they are nerfing the last word and thorn, but reduce ammo size for all hand cannons? I never thought they had too many bullets. They also nerf shotguns with shot package, made final round in snipers useless except for pve, gave icebreaker an 8 second recharge, proximity reduction for nades and horseshoes. Wow, we just needed auto rifles buffed, and nerf to thorn and last word but they go and make a bunch of guns worse. Wolfpack rounds do less damage now! WTF?  Black Hammers white nail will come from reserve now, so we have to reload now. But at least they made Necrochasm better! One step forward, three steps back.

I guess im the only one who really loves this update. So many good things and fixes. Im a little sad they are hitting my last word but its okay ill adjust to it and still use it regularly. So they basically got rid of all the cheap kill methods and made loadouts in PVP more diverse.

Also I was annoyed by how many times the word Gjallarhorn came out of peoples mouths. Im glad its weaker even though it will still be the most prized boss killer. And I find it funny how so many people are actually upset that final round is being fixed. I didnt realize there were that many people who solely relied on final round to get kills.

Anyways. Im guessing trials this weekend is on Pantheon?

7th number did you get an XBone after all? If so are you getting Gears Ultimate? Im so stoked for that game now that I got an xbone. And I was able to trade in Batman Arkham Knight (free game with xbone) for $61 towards TTK. :D

The only thing that's dumb to me is the change to Black Hammer. But 7, you won't have to reload when white nail kicks in because it automatically refills your magazine. The only difference is that right now it creates phantom ammo out of nothing, so if you keep hitting crits you can just fire forever. With the new update, it will pull ammo from your reserves, so ones that's out you have to go get more.

I never really understand why people get so worked up about weapon changes. There's nothing we can do about it, other than stop playing the game. Like stellar said, you just learn and adjust. My only complaint is that when they break something (auto rifles) it takes far too long to fix it. I would love to see weapon balancing on the radar on a constant basis and updates to happen more frequently.

Which is fine, really. It was kind of cheap to be able to lure a boss to a corner and just unload at his head for a few minutes. The only time I ever used mine was on the Valus strike against the tank and then against him at the end. Now I'll just have to make sure I'm stocked on special ammo before I go into those fights.

No Land Beyond getting a blanket buff is just....idk. I've been running that in PVP for nearly 2 weeks now, and I JUST got decent with it, and it's only going to get more OP.

Doing blanket Handcannon nerfs RIGHT AFTER stating they just worked out a new system where individual guns can be re-balanced is just stupidity of the highest order.

Hawkmoon's triple proc being removed is asinine, as the odds were so astronomical there wasn't any 'unbalance' to be had.

Thorn's dot applying up to 5x, however, is a welcome change.

IB/Black Hammer nerfs are unwarranted, in addition to the Gjally nerf. To me this just puts more light on the fact most boss encounters are just lazy bullet sponges, so when we do them too fast we still aren't playing right. Also I think this (in relation to the Gjally nerf) comes from the shit-head LFG community / dipshit mentality where a Gjally is REQUIRED to raid. FYI: I don't think the lfg community are all shit-heads in general, I'm just speaking about that particular element from the community.

Oh, and Final Round is effectively useless now. Awesome :wall: .

From my understanding this 2.0 update isn't going to be applied until September and just before The Taken King is released. I'm not entirely sure why they're announcing these changes 2 months in advance unless they want to generate a lot of feedback (or angry mobs) between now and then.

While I don't hate all of the weapon updates, I do hate that they're making these changes all at once. Why not just do a few tweaks here and there every other month and see what the results yield.

I like the Thorn (DoT stacking x5) and Hard Light updates, but I HATE the Ice Breaker (5 second to 8 second ammo recharge increase, seems pointless) and reducing the base magazine size in all hand cannons. What did my original Red Hand IX do to deserve this treatment? I was also just getting use to unleashing my lone maxed Gjallarhorn at everything, what a total buzzkill depending on the reduction to wolfpack rounds. If I had a Hawkmoon or Black Hammer I might be upset but those guns just don't exist in my world.

I guess I have mixed feelings about the changes.

Internets came back on last night but i saw antman instead of playing destiny...Antman was fun and the visuals were trippy and cool and worth the IMAX 3D for once. Plus the cure gets a cool shout out...probably the best one since robert was on south park.

Got on and got that nighthawk...jesssss. Upgraded my sunbreakers, bought two helmet engrams and got better rolls on two other hunter helmets but still no ramz :( I have two hundred coins still so I will probably try a couple more engrams maybe...between rerolling and buying engrams I'm so poor in motes lately.

They said on tweetar they are looking into the no gun error so I bought my helmet before the fix comes in case it resets the inventory completely. Xur is getting gang banged on the balcony by the speaker.

I love the Ant-Man comics. Probably going to see the movie in a week. I go to this smaller local theater the 2nd weekend new movies are out (usually 3D superhero movies) and am often one of 5 people in that particular screening- sometimes the only one! And I love that.

I understood that they are going to apply them before 2.0 (I might need to read again). The DoT stacking of the thorn is just usable for PvE and they are doing that because they are reducing the thik from 7 to 2 or 3 (one third of what it was) and all the general nerf HC is just stupid why would they affect all HC when it was just the three exotics that needed tunning (although the nerf to TLW seemed a lil bit exaggerated for me).

Im gunna log in to buy celestial nighthawk helm, mine only has around 100 intellect. So +20 is worth the buy and it doesnt take long to level up. Maybe buy another one and not level it up to trick pvp players into thinking i have one shot.

Bungie is a company that gives 0 fucks about pissing it's customer base off. Make the fucking Gally a bitch to get, then for Bungie Day, eat a Gally cake and show it off. Instead of giving out a shader/emblem, you have to do a bunch of shit to earn it. Then they announce they are nerfing all of the weapons people hold dear to them. So when people complain about the incoming nerfs, they be like "fuck you all crying about weapons nerfs, so we will have Xur carry no exotic weapons."

I got this Crux, but no way to combine it since that blade asshole only spawns in 1 place now and wont drop it. I have killed that guy 75 plus times now in the past 2 weeks.

Only good thing going is that they arent raping Scout rifles anymore. VoC/Mida/Fang will still be usable. I just dont understand what is so hard to give people more access to the weapons they are paying to play to get. Can't they let you buy a random exotic weapon like they do with the armors?  It's not like this a fremium mobile game. Everyone actually paid and it shouldn't be like a damn job.

The nerfs are generally a good thing. It's the problem with basically every encounter in the game being complete shit. Stand on an edge/safe zone. 95% of the map is never used. All the bosses are non-dynamic bullet sponges.

Fix the encounters so the OP weapons aren't necessary. After playing the same boring bullet sponge bosses over and over, you look for ways to kill them faster. Hence GHorn and BH.

I took down Skolas last night in 1HR 50 Mins (we had a couple early wipes and lost our 3rd man in the first round so had to find another). I was the only team member with a gally. One guy didn't have a mic (he waved when it was time to take the essence) and the other guy had never done Skolas before. We did just fine. Gally, IB, BH are not game breaking. They more or less mitigate the bullshit.

I understand the Strikes having dumb boring bosses. Those are able to be played alone (only in the nightfall, though). Anything that requires a team should require team tactics. Bosses like the Raid bosses should be throughout the game. Bosses in the Raids should be even more dynamic.

Destiny is at a point where it is a perfectly serviceable game and worth the money if you purchase 'the complete' pack. If you are a day one player, I'm sorry, but the content is not worth:

$60 Vanilla game (sorry, $150 Ghost Edition)

$35 Expansion Pass (Or $20+$20)

$40 The Taken King

Hours played does not equal quality if you are grinding the same BS and low quality encounters. The game right now is in the state it should have been at release. Improvements to resource farming (no more 4 hour patrols in a circle at scablands to upgrade raid armor with relic iron), the destiny app, more bounty slots, matchmaking weekly heroic, etc. have made the game much better. Now you can focus on actually playing the game and doing activities you want to do. The activities themselves do need improvements, but generally the community, camaraderie, and excellent gunplay make it still a fun game to play.

32/34 POE should no doubt have matchmaking as they aren't exactly complicated/difficult. Matchmaking chat should be on by default since many people don't even know how to properly use it/never use it. Nightfalls should have matchmaking.

Also, the POE is a waste of time after you've reached lv34 on all 3 characters and have a decent amount of maxed things. Loot needs to be fixed.

Not enjoying just playing the game?
The game is really fun...online. And it becomes even better when playing with friends. But the stats for driving 500km doesn't track properly when playing online games and I'm pretty OCD about completing games...especially one as easy as Rocket league. So here I am driving alone in circles scoring a single goal every 5 minutes so I win the match and get closer to the get all Items trophy. It doesn't demand too much attention but it is a waste of electricity.

Sometimes I wish achievements/trophies were never made.

Might have to level up my Hard Light seeing that it's getting buffed heavily.

Tomorrow will be ToO day, then hopefully the Witcher crew gets their patch released this weekend so i can go back to playing that great game.

all kinds of stuff
I agree with everything you said except the NF having matchmaking. Griefers can fuck that up for everyone by rushing into a darkness zone solo and dying, booting everyone to orbit.

I can see them trying to re-balance the meta in anticipation of the TK exotics...but we ALL remember how "amazing" TDB ones were, right guys?!

DRAGONS SHARD! FOURTH SHARDMEN! NO SHARD BEYOND!

Gonna be so amazing!

/sarcasm

If there was a better online game without a monthly fee out, I'd have jumped ship already.
