Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

13! Thirteen! Th1rt33n different Scout Rifles currently in my (full) vault.

I hate housekeeping.

(Anyone else getting a funny vibe from Matt googling tukai's name and posting the results here. Getting a little stalkeresque.)

Works great with a hunter or two for even more bubbles with their golden gun/blade dancer
Iron Banner is just around the corner. This is probably the only way you can get me to to play the lagging banner this time.

You clearly don't know what the definition of stalker is if you think that. I wanted to see if a funny meme involving his name or something (not him psrsonally) showed up on a Google search. I saw the pairing of his name with the word "exotics", and with his constant frustration about the Gjallarhorn, it seemed pretty funny.

Also of note: my post about Tukai lacking a Gjallarhorn came right after you posted an image directed at Tukai not having a Gjallarhorn.

Someone explain to me why the Gjallarhorn is such a highly sought after weapon. I got it, immediately put it in storage and never touched it (not a fan of rocket launchers).
You are playing Destiny wrong! Joke aside, it basically kills pretty much anything due to its wolf pack rounds chasing the target(s) after the main rocket hits, making the DPS from this gun even better, and if you can combine it with other good primaries and secondaries, then you basically always have it in your heavy slot.

I either have an elemental primary & BH so my GHorn is always equipped. If solar is not the burn of the day/week, then I just switch it to whatever has that burn.

^  This...

Wolfpack rounds set it miles ahead of any other rocket launcher (until the nerf anyway).

The damage from the initial blast is similar to every other RL, but that initial blast also unleashes the WP rounds (12 total I think); each WP round is a mini-rocket that homes in on your target.  So you get initial blast damage plus additional pinpoint damage, from WP, on your target.

To give you an idea, one rocket can take out a yellow-bar captain (like the ones that come during the Queen bounty drop ships) and still leave a few mini-rockets for surrounding enemies.  It just chews thru stuff.

Nerf? What nerf? On the Ghorn?!?

I have a bunch that need new rolls, but I keep spending all my motes on helmet engrams only to not get the Ram...
I know that exact feeling, but for the Nighthawk. Last weekend I stupidly forgot to pick it up, after having already spent about ~15-20 engrams worth of motes the previous weeks trying to get it.

Now I have about ~7 or so legendaries that I'd like to re-roll (Matador/Party Crasher, Her Benevolence, some fusion rifles, etc), but honestly the item I'm short on is weapon parts. Spent about 150 of them rolling a full-auto + exp. round scout rifle that turned out to suck balls in the current meta. It's a cool gun, but the TTK* is about 4 times longer than I'd like it to be, and doesn't perform "like an OG auto-rifle" as advertised by the interwebs.

I keep seeing really neat video montages with Her Benevolence, so that will probably be next on my list.

*time-to-kill in this instance.

I think its because the wolfpack rounds are enough to kill someone in pvp. So i think they will nerf it so it cant kill someone by itself. I know ive killed many of people just by shooting a wall and letting the wolfpack rounds track them down and kill them.

Oh... so you're THAT guy huh :shame:   j/k ;)

Nah, pretty sure it's a PvE driven nerf.  Bungie says it's due to the blackball'g that goes on for Raids/NF's/etc.  But it's really just a miscalculation on how OP  Gally is in the game.

IIRC, the nerf is going to reduce WP rounds by a 1/3.  That's not a big deal in PvP, but it would cause you to pop another heavy synth for PvE activities (boss fights mainly)

What perks do you have I love the shadow scout...it kicks ass.
Exp. Rounds, Full-Auto, and the one where it reloads faster on an empty mag.

From my play-testing, it is awful. Needs nearly a full mag to kill someone, which is about twice the time it takes for you to kill anyone remotely skilled. I'm not going to scrap it anytime soon, it looks too damn cool.

In other news: Trials of Osiris w/ map rotation gets a BIG thumbs up from me. Went 8-3 on my lock, and 5-3 on my Titan.

I got 2 Dry Rots on my quest for a Hopscotch Pilgrim with a buddy of mine. He ended up getting it on the 2nd strike we did (he didn't even know what it was).....that was 2 weeks ago. Neither of us have seen one since.

I would, depending on time. Only beat each one with my Titan. Then when Tukai, Dylan, and I switched to our alternate characters, we realized none of us had completed the story missions required to host.

You could always start it up with a character that did beat it, then leave once in the poe, switch to one that didnt, and rejoin. Not sure that would work but it has for nightfalls in the past for me.

Young Ahamkara's Spine, Celestial Nighthawk, and Bones of Eao are the only 3 Exotics I am missing.

I forgot to buy Celestial Nighthawk last weekend when Xur was selling it, as well as missed out on ToO the same weekend where Vance was selling the sniper. Luckily this week Xur was selling Ahamkara gloves.

I mention to clanmate that I was stupid for not buying Nighthawk last weekend while we did my 3rd nightfall on my hunter.

Loot from NF #3: Celestial Nighthawk

I say to the other two fellows in my Trials group that I missed out on the sniper from Vance last week. We go Flawless.

Gold-Tier package: Eye of Sol

As we fly into Mercury, I finally mention that the only exotic I still need are the new Hunter boots, and after that I'll be done with Destiny.

Mercury Chest: Bones of Eao

Bricks were shit.

tl;dr - My Hunter IS RNGeezus.

I wish i could get the Bones of Eao.

3rd day in a row i see someone in my fireteam get the dry rot shotgun. fuck this game. Im sick of doing strikes just to watch other people get the gun i want, yet they seem to give me every other legendary gun in the dragon strike mode.

I saw an LFG post from a guy saying he was helping carry people to the lighthouse and wanted one more decent player to help out. I checked out his stats and he had a 2.10 kd, so I sent him a message and got an invite on my titan. We start playing and he's pretty good, but he's not incredible or anything and he's mostly just abusing final round. He tells us to just buy the favor and we'll pick up the other boons when we get further along. Well after we tried for a while and never got past 3 wins he leaves. After he takes off I get a message from the other guy asking if I had paid him for a lighthouse run too. Turns out he had sent the guy 10 bucks and when the guy couldn't deliver he just bailed. I guess it could have been much worse for the guy since most of those guys charge 50+, but it still pisses me off and I feel bad for the dude that paid.

Have not been on Destiny for weeks/month maybe but people paying for lighthouse carries should be ripped off.

I still need to get to the lighthouse on my Titan, so I can have the emblem on all 3 characters :D.

So I'm putting together a short list of "worthwhile" weapons to grind for, feel free to reply with any others you think are worth getting:

Dragon Strikes

Hopscotch Pilgrim (pulse rifle)

Dry Rot (shotgun)

Crucible

Matador 64 (shotgun)

Party Crasher +1 (shotgun)

Prison of Elder's/Queen's Wrath

Her Benevolence (sniper)

*edit*

I'm also now offering my services for Lighthouse runs. Cost is only 25001 glimmer, or the Fate of All Fools exotic scout rifle. Must have Gjallarhorn, be level 36.4, and be willing to communicate primarily in sign language over a walkie talkie.

I want to run Trials next weekend.  Haven't ever done it thus far.  Will be using Iron Banner to warm up.

I'll probably be a Voidfang Sunsinger (grenades everywhere!) or I'll run light beyond nemesis for fast revives.

I'll run Thorn, Judgement IV or Matador, and Hezen Vengeance or Hunger of Crota.

Judgment IV with Spray and Pray/Luck in the Chamber is outrageous.  Unload 4 fast shots, 1 shot does significant extra damage and fast reload!

Trials lasts from Friday until reset, so you still have time to try it out before it goes away.

Made it to the lighthouse again early yesterday evening. Connections were fairly solid for both sides for the entire run (a first for ToO). Really liked the map rotation. We did get the Burning Shine map a lot. Lighthouse yielded another The Messgenger (adept) for me (the only weapon I get from the LH chest). No exotic.

Had a group of 5-6 run crucible later in the evening and it was a complete mess. Connections were abysmal with most matches bordering unplayable. I get that more people are on later in the evening but the connection issues are inexcusable on Bungie/Activisions part. By now, they know how many people will be playing and should have this sorted out.

Connections are the worst part about Destiny. Which is extremely bad, seeing that PvP is probably the best part of the game when PvE activities becomes stale. I tried trails this week but I find the random maps annoying and the connections get progressively worse as your team gets closer to flawless.

I wonder how the "pay for Flawless Trials" accept payment. If it's through paypal (send for service not family and friends) can't they just ask for a refund.

I've recently started playing hearthstone, reminds me of gwent but better.

4 days in a row doing dragon strikes only to see one dry rot shotgun per day, and they always go to someone else. on the bright side i do have 3 hopscotch pilgrims, but what do i need 3 for?

I have a dry rot and I thought that I had good perks until comparing it to the 4th horseman yesterday so now I would like to ask you guys if these are good perks for it, I've got aggressive/full auto/injection mold (increases stability reduces range)/final round... so guys should I keep it or should I reforge it?

also seven, I've been looking for the damn HP with no luck for a week now :(

Nightfall/PoE plans for this weekend didn't materialize. Would anyone be willing to play through 1 Nightfall and 1 PoE 32 tonight around 8 P.M. Central? Maybe a PoE 34 as well if there's time.

After 22 re-rolls I settled on a Dry Rot with Solar, Field Choke, Full Auto, Smallbore, and Final Round. It's my new favorite shotgun to use in PvE. It's definitely worth grinding for and is better than I thought it could be to shred enemies. Plus it has a higher rate of fire (edit: base stat w/o the Thunderer perk), increased range, faster reload speed, and +1 magazine right out of the gate compared to the 4th Horseman.

That's a pretty great roll you got with the increased stability and with aggressive ballistics it brings the impact on par to a 4th Horseman. Range isn't a big deal since it's better to be up close anyway and I'd sacrifice that for increased stability. I'd probably keep it if I were you since it usually takes 15-20 rolls (at least for me anyway) before you get close to something you actually want. It took 11 rolls alone before Full Auto finally showed up for the first time.

An optimal roll for a legendary version of the 4th Horseman would be:

-Aggressive Ballistics

-Full Auto

-Reinforced Barrel/Smallbore

-Rodeo

Also, while leveling my Dry Rot through Dragon Strikes late last night I finally received a Hopscotch Pilgrim drop! It seriously only took ~100 strike runs for this to happen. Good grief. :whee:

Congrats on getting the HipHopScotch.

4th Horseman still shoots faster than the Dry Rot in practice. Dry Rot is more stable though.

My 2 rolls for the Dry Rot:

Void, Aggressive Ballistics,  Full Auto, Reinforced Barrel, and Battle Runner.

Arc, Aggressive Ballistics, Full Auto, Reinforced Barrel, and Cascade.

Void for minotaurs and arc for captains. Battle Runner is amazing, you move so fast after a kill, almost walk sprinting.

Thanks man! I think I'll keep it then, I've suffered enough the reforge RNGesus and I got that at my 4th roll, I'd love to get an other dryrot in my quest to find the HP though I got a pretty solid stock constellation scar yesterday with rodeo/head seaker so I'm not sure if I want to continue

I was looking around to get opinions on the best rolls for the Hopscotch Pilgrim. There seems to be a lot of debate between Headseeker, Hidden Hand, and Reactive Reload for the last perk. I guess it just depends on preference and how the 2.0 update will effect pulse rifle stability.

After 26 rolls I finally got something decent with Red Dot, Feeding Frenzy, Braced Frame and Headseeker. I'm thinking of keeping it for now even though most say Headseeker isn't very useful on high impact pulse rifles. Maybe I'll luck my way into getting another one to drop to play around with Feeding Frenzy + Reactive Reload. Lol, yeah right.

Took a crack at Trials last night and gotta say, I really liked the mixed-up map schedule. Made the whole experience more enjoyable.

Nearly went flawless (laggers again). First loss came at our 4-win mark. Tight match but lose.

So, mercy boon used up. Roll thru the next 3 matches, some tough(came back from being down 3-1 to win 5-4), some pushovers. Go for our eighth win on Widow's Court and it was a mess. Opposite team had a red-bar who was matrix'g all over the place, but at least you could still kill him. His buddy, however, just would not die even though he supposedly had a good connection. He only took damage from area attacks, like grenades, rockets, nova bombs or titan smash. Made a good come back but still lose.

There goes flawless. Next match, more of the same. One guy who just won't take hits. At one point, I hit him with 2 strikes from bladedancer and he's still walking around with a 3/4 full health bar... sigh

Anyway next match after gets us a team of low-levels (26, 33, 34). We wipe the floor with them. Though we had a thought that one of them was trying to DDoS us just because he never moved from the spawn point for the first few rounds and there was the occasional delay in moving from round to round.

This is the sorta stuff that makes it hard for me to consider Trials a legitimate game mode.

I've noticed that going in with a big group will usually result in a lot of lag.

It's a blast being able to roll in 5-6 deep. It's some the most enjoyable PvP matches I've had but it causes issues.

Guess trying to link up a team that's spread across the US is just too much.
