Diablo III / Diablo II Battle.net Thread

the patch actually looks pretty good.

add in free roam mode where you can travel around the acts ala d2 in the same game, open pvp, and lower cooldowns on everything and i'd play.

Gotta say, the patch is a step in the right direction. I feel it's too little too late though, Blizz has lost too many players now.

Yeah the patch notes look good. Hoping Blizzard delivers but not counting on it. But their timing is interesting to say the least lol.

Oh you mean how everyone will be too busy playing GW2 to care?

Haven't touched it in 6-7 weeks at least. Sad...I wanted to like the game but never even made it through Hell. I actually went back and started playing Borderlands since Steam had it on sale. Wow. Maybe 1.4 will get me to play again.

very happy about the MF change, was the reason I have been playing by myself throughout most of inferno. Too many people on coop games didn't understand MF avging, and I couldn't "pick" which games I joined so it was a roulette wheel of whether I would get anyone with any MF or not.

Again, a good change for the game. I'll probably actually try the patch when it comes out and see if it's worth playing again.
Now that it's a f2p starter, I can join the pixels!
welcome to hell (normal).

maybe your time in sanctuary be legendary.

Lol, just imagine how many people will put up their shitty 1.0.3 legendaries at maybe a mil or two less hoping to catch some sucker not paying attention. The AH is going to be a troll-fest because most people don't think to use search parameters for legendaries. This is what happens when you release a game unfinished.

GG.

^ It's rare I ever hit an auction house in games. COH and LOTRO and those were 5 min affairs at best. I play by drop.

GL in this game. Oh wait, you're doing a trial and will probably never even drink a health potion. Nevermind!

personally i want to see crappy set item legendaries on the AH so I can get the friggin set item achievement done with. I've found my 3rd Tal Rasha chest piece last night and 2nd pair of IK gloves. Even if I were able to sell them it's about the cost of brimstone...so I'll just keep the brimstone instead. if the frequency im finding legendaries is like this, i'll be fine finding the same crap over and over again after patch cause I'll probably be able to sell/trade for different stuff.

if ppl make unresearched purchases in the AH it's on them. pretty much every new legendary will have some form of proc affix, so i'll be looking at that but likely never buying anything. I'm find w/drops...and still enjoying the d3 experience. Fortunately I run with some friends that don't care about the AH either. My buddy gave me 2 jewel plans, the 1st ruby and the 2nd tier topaz because he got doubles.

as far as a game unfinished, honestly if the game was where it is next patch ppl would still find things to complain about. I still have my pet peeves about some of the things in D3 but I'm trying to focus on the positive.

After beating the game 1 1/2 times and then remembering i had Diablo because of that blizzard fiasco. I figured i might as well play it, since it is a bigger security risk then geraldo drawing in the sand (Am i right!). I don't know where all the fun came from, but i am enjoying it now. Shortage of people to play with.

It would've been an entirely different game, trust me. Nobody would have ever chest farmed and we'd all have been playing together to farm gear on act III. The final idiotic mechanic that needs to go is the NV buff, because it hampers where you can farm efficiently. Basically, they need to throw out every innovation they came up with and go back to D2.

They're almost there with this next patch.

a bit extreme, but I can see where some of your suggestions hold merit.

the NV buff is just so ppl dont swap skills on the fly to gain an advantage vs. a situation. i don't think it's a big enough deal as the buff is a MF buff and nothing more. if you feel compelled to farm w/more efficiency (what happened to i before e) NV gives you guarenteed drop options. You can farm anywhere...I look for trash mobs when I have 5 stacks and a MF character because that's where most of my legendaries drop. if you want more efficient farming play a wiz and teleport past trash, some ppl find enjoyment in getting their farm in under a certain number of minutes...if that's how they want to play the game, hey now.

my biggest issue which is being addressed is build diversity and next patch seems that will happen. The new patch will certainly prolong the D3 experience for a lot of players...and eventually we'll all be geared enough to feel there is nothing left to do.

what will likely happen is, we'll all get geared and then get bored...then blizz will release PvP. Ppl will come back, get their fix and then get bored...then blizz will release more crafting plans, maybe new gems, or even change up abilities since there is no doubt the new ones will likely be bugged and/or ppl will find incredible ways to deliver insane dps unforeseen.

if you didn't notice in this thread, Diablo III is just a huge whine-fest. People nitpick just about everything, and at both extremes for christ sake.

for example the loot drops.

There's one camp who complains that loot is too few and not like D2.
The there's the other group who complains drops are too loose, deflating the values of their items on AH.

Then difficulty.
Some say its too hard and too reliant on AH.
Then there's people who say its way too easy (and still getting easier). The game should take months, years even, not a matter of 2 weeks to beat inferno.

People just bitch way too much
People just bitch way too much
This seems to be true for any/all established franchise. I wonder if people not be this way or bitch less if the sequels were new IPs.
Not to be pedantic, but if they were new IPs, they wouldn't be sequels :)
That's my point.

.......and my axe.

you know...that's quite a bit of bleed damage, they ought to name it hemorrage.

I see ppl complaining upping the trash mob hps was too much of a monster buff even though they are lowering pack hps, coop monster hps, and even nerfing monster affixes. Once you get a legendary or two, it'll be gg act 1 > 4.

...gee, dat axe has +192% crit damage. Add to that an emerald, and all your gear? ppl could easily hit 400% - 500%. My guess, they will lower the crit damage values on items (not gems). Only allowing high numbers such as this on legendary items. Not a complaint, just a prediction. ppl will find a way to get around it...they always do.
You can farm anywhere...I look for trash mobs when I have 5 stacks and a MF character because that's where most of my legendaries drop.
You can't farm anywhere because having as little NV downtime as possible is the key. Act III has the best chance for ilvl63 items with the largest pool of rares/elites to farm from. Once your stack is at 5, you want to kill as many as you can per run. The real issue is MF, which should have just been dropped from this game TBH.

Barbarian preview is up. Wizard should be up sometime today. Rest tomorrow.
Reading it now and it's hilarious how they completely ignore sidearm as a big reason why people use frenzy. Increasing the damage on bash is pointless when you consider frenzy is used to LL and keep mobile. Upping Cleave is pointless when you factor sidearm is far more versatile. Frenzy will always be king, no matter what they buff.

It's clear to me they don't even play their own game and are just playing the numbers game. Very unimpressive preview for this retired Barbarian. :\
wizard up

lol nerfs. eat a dick blizzard.
Lol damn, poor wizards. I think you guys and DHs have had it the worst since launch. Just re-roll Barb IMO. It's the best class in the game right now.

Looking for more people to play with, don't mind helping you if your a lower level. I mean i know everyone wants to play solo, but games are like voltron.

The more you connect the better.

I think their reasoning is valid, if WW coefficient proc stayed after the legendaries buff, you'd be near invinicble + proc legendary procs like mad. Hopefully as stated high CC players will not notice the difference much, mine is 41% currently having a sword that adds +5% to WW.

...again, aside from the change this also promotes build diversity. personally I enjoy both the blizz/arcane hyrda (i like the explosions) and CM/WW builds. It'll be nice to see some new builds that are viable and not focus on what used to be OP then got nerfed.

Rerolling a barb isnt really the answer as powerful as they are, if we could exchange all our CM/WW gear for WW/sprint barb gear that would be different...most of us cannot. I look fwd to the patch even if it forces me to change my playstyle to be as affective as I used to be. Nothing wrong with that tbh since there isn't any PvP yet, ranking, and/or rewards for playing outside of personal enjoyment.

Ultimately I just wanna roll as the Archon w/my wiz...but I'd have to probably triple my unbuffed DPS first. That's likely be w/a legendary wpn with high CD, a socket, and high DPS...along with 300 more int.

If that's true, once again they're making decisions based on GEAR and not skill. The more they wrestle control from the player to be less open-ended, the more they fail at making the game better.

i'm glad we can agree on a few things. I've seen some well geared players suck donk nuggets. (grins)

that said, monk preview is up.

I hope when the WD preview comes out they address the biggest problem.

...angry chicken (rune).

I totally want to rock that rune effectively and not for lawls when helping friends level up their alts. I'm surprised they didnt add an achievement for killing X monsters w/the angry chicken rune.

Monk preview is pretty underwhelming.

"We don't want to change One With Everything because that would would upset monks who geared up for it" nerfs Wicked Wind Wizards. lol

When PvP is put in, I fully intend to make an angry chicken based spec, buffs or not.

To be fair though, I've seen guides to gear up for WW/CM wizard that costs around 2 mill and can do act 1 & 2 inferno without too many problems. So it's not like you need to spend you entire fortune to gear up for specific builds.

I spent maybe 500k to switch from just a regular MM/Arcane Orb wiz to a WW/CM wiz.

Still crazy disappointed that they nerfed WW proc rate.

Damn - I was enjoying the game then I went into Defiled Crypt and my character is stuck and can't move. :( Any tips besides reloading.

I usually just try to go back to town when that happens. I think I might play again when the new patch comes out. I would like to see how the changes for the WD builds work. I started the class for the pets so maybe I can use them when they release the patch.
I started the class for the pets so maybe I can use them when they release the patch.
This, I was a summon necro in diablo 2. It was like i threw my own party where i was the only guest and i had 50 bouncers surrounding me and i would pick fights in the center. I swear diplomats and presidents didnt have as good a security detail.

Witch Doctor pales in comparison, i dont find the role particularly powerful and i find my self getting by. D2's necro touched me in a way other pet classes in other mmo's fail to do.

changes look good on a whole, I think the haters and QQ'ers are making me look fwd to the patch more. The ppl on the blizz forums are very...quick to comment.

30% mana regen from VQ when you deal damage? hahaha...that's awesome, add to that the mana regen buff that WD are getting already? You could spam rain of toads now and probably Dire bats (I end up kiting w/that anyway after a few casts), throw in a few this and that, and still save your CD's for big fights. Heck yeah. I'll take the steady stream over feast or famine. We still have the 15% mana regen in spirit walk, additional mana regen sources, and beefed up dawgs so you can regain your focus. They didn't mention if/how they changed dawg runes or gargles. I'm sure blizz is keeping some prizes for the actual release of the patch so all the underwhelmed ppl will be pleasantly surprised for 2 seconds...then go back to complaining.

funny...no one really mentioned that they are glad casting animations will be faster.

I liked the d2 necro, though blizz's iconic summoning class was that. the necro...the WD is a hyrbid class, it's more like the druid is. They even share similar abilities. I also think the WD has greater survivability compared to the necro. If fetishes weren't melee but ranged blowdart spitters much like the necro's skeletal mages I think a lot of summoners would be happier.

At this point, I welcome the change. It'll mix things up, keep the game fresh, and once you get your hands on a legendary or two you may soon forget that .25 coefficient is now .125.

So happy they're buffing WD pets, that's pretty much why I rolled WD to begin with. As of now, I only use my Gargantuan because the Zombie Dogs are worthless. There was nothing more satisfying in D2 than having an army of skeletons with a golem.

the thing I miss most about D2's summon is the option for ranged summons. the skeletal mages were awesome...and if you were lucky enough you could get the cold mages out if you recast enough. If they only did that with the little fetishes and had a perma duration vs. a few seconds of burst dps.

I think the WD pet build and say Monk w/armor mantra and/or Barb shout is going to make them all crazy buff.
^^I must have been playing wrong...I used to recast to get the cold mages. I liked to slow down my enemies.
not at all, i think the wording was just confusing on my part. I recast skeletal mage until I got all cold mages out on the map.

Interesting a lot of people seem to be upset with the cyclone nerf on Wizs but everything seems good so far (outside of maybe the WD vision quest to? whatever.)

I believe I also read Monks can dual wield two handed weapons as well.

Haven't seen the DH notes yet.

I read that as being able to equip 2 handed weapons, I didn't see anything about dual wielding them.
