Forza Horizon 5

Hotfix for the points issue is up. 1.08 GB on Series X, 1.10 GB on One X, 3.5 GB on PC. Though there are reports of the game crashing on PC after the fix.

Points were awarded for everything in Summer except the Treasure Hunt, which they said they were still working on. Was able to redeem the Backstage Pass. I had earned enough points for the 20 point Lamborghini reward, but if you needed the point fix to get it, that should work, too.

They are also gifting everyone the weekly rewards from the Summer season in the message center. I had the message for the Lambo right away, the Backstage Pass came a few minutes later.

Playlist changes :

Egypt Part 1 - Cairo - S1 900 Modern Supercars - Still 3 laps, little over a minute per, 11 AI. Used the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S (887 678 660). Got into first at the end of the first lap, a couple AI stayed close the rest of the way.

Level Speedway EventLab - A800 Modern Muscle instead of S2 998 Anything. Still 5 laps, little over 30 seconds per, 11 AI. Used the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat (171 335 734). Got into first around the end of the 2nd lap.

The EventLabs checked off, as did the Collectibles. Haven't done any other challenges yet. Got 80 points for the first series reward, which also worked.

The original playlist :

Series 20, Autumn (Storm) - May 4 - May 11

Trial - Road - A800 1990s - Did alright in the 1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta (112 697 536). Was leading for most of the first race, but got bumped into the wall on a turn by the 2nd place player and couldn't get back in front. Second race, was in second behind an AI with the person that bumped me right behind, including some more bumping. Hit a wall trying to avoid him and ended up 3rd, but he finished 2nd.

East Resort Speed Trap - S2 998 Anything - 215 mph (3 stars is 200) - Topped 237 with the untuned rally 2019 Rimac Concept Two (551 707 630). Started from the Barranca Trail.

Green Hills Speed Zone - S2 998 Anything - 180 mph (3 stars is 160) - Hit 197.39 in the rally Rimac going east to west, starting from the 4 way intersection east of the zone. Hit 186.81 going west to east, starting from the dirt intersection west of the zone.

Malpaís Trailblazer - S2 998 Anything - 20 seconds (3 stars is 15) - Trifecta with the Rimac, hitting 22.954 starting on the highway where the road from the Horizon Festival passes underneath.

Collectibles - Found plenty around the Horizon Festival.

Starting from the Launch Control Danger Sign, there's one to the north. Follow that road to the Festival Speed Zone, should be 2-3 more before you get to the zone. Should be 1-2 in the Zone, then keep following the road. Should get to 10 before you get to the Giro Encorvado Drift Zone, though there'll be a bunch more.

Another one where the road splits north at the Festival Drag Strip. Found a few more on the roads north of the garage.

Hot Wheels

Forest Leap Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 1,476.4 feet (3 stars is 1,250) - Managed 1,738.45 with the rally Rimac. Left the track at 244 mph. Tried the aero tuning one, leaving the track a bit above 250, but just got into the 1,750s. Had my best runs with the 2020 Koeniggsegg Jesko (957 293 364), topping out at 1,858.12. Left the track at 255. All attempts were started at the Goliath. That turn toward the sign is tough.

Can Ya Canyon? - Hazard - S1 900 Modern Supercars - No real problems with the 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition (R35) (987 214 968). Not the best car on snow and ice when the last race went off track, but the AI cars had trouble as well and didn't really get close.

I didn't get the message to update and it wasn't in the "updates" list. I did get the Lambo in my messages.

I wonder if they pulled it because of the PC issues. I'm on XSX

Yeah, it got rolled back.

Due to severe stability issues on the hotfix PC build, we’ve rolled back the update on Windows PC (not Steam) and Xbox Consoles. We apologise for the inconvenience and will work hard to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We’ll be in touch about the next release which will correct the issues affecting progression in the Festival Playlist as soon as possible. We encourage players to continue playing Festival Playlist activities as the hotfix, once implemented, will still provide the associated Playlist points retroactively.

As a result of this rollback, players will be prompted to install an update of about 3.5G.

My PC download was 3.5 GB, but the Series X download was 7.7 GB. Haven't tried starting the game again after it downloaded.

New hotfix is out. Looks like it fixes the playlist issues. Treasure Hunt from last week is completed and I'm at 70 points of 70 for both weeks.

1.10 GB on Series X, 1.12 GB on One X, 3.5 GB on PC.

Original series :
Series 20, Winter (Dry) - May 11 - May 18

Trial - Road - A800 Track Toys - I generally try to use autoshow cars for events, so I tuned the 2002 BMW M3-GTR (617 827 997). I think the event started with 5 people, but there were only 4 about midway through the first lap. Didn't catch the AI PIs, but pretty sure they're not tuned given how quickly we all got into the lead. I finished 3rd and 2nd. First race, someone in a Manx FE couldn't handle the late lap turns at the traffic circle and fell back, allowing me to move up a spot. They also spun out and fell back in the 2nd race, while someone else missed a checkpoint and quit.

Blue Lagoon EventLab - S2 998 Anything - 5 laps, little over a minute per, no AI. Some sharp turns you'll need to be careful for.

Basejump Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 1,738.8 feet (3 stars is 1,650) - New PB of 1,997.62 with the untuned rally 2019 Rimac Concept Two (131 655 301). Started from the Hilltop Descent, bounced at the top of the hill before the ramp but still hit the ramp at about 200 mph.

Tulum Speed Trap - S2 998 Anything - 190 mph (3 stars is 170) - Hit 203.06 with the Rimac starting from the north entrance to the Apex Outpost.

Camino De Montaña Drift Zone - S2 998 Anything - 130k (3 stars is 120k) - Made 3 runs in the 1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution (780 472 164). First was east to west, starting from the curve south of the east end. Hit 145,660. Set a new PB of 151,778 on the west to east return trip. Thought the top of the CAG leaderboard (162,550) was within reach, so went east to west again and hit 168,198.

Racing in Style - Road - B700 Vintage Racers - Used the 1926 Bugatti Type 35 C (268 350 225). Car's handling is pretty slippery, but it's the cheapest of the type in the autoshow and I already had one tuned.

Original playlist

Series 20, Spring (Hot) - May 18 - May 25

Last week to get the Oval Track Freeroam accolades under the Evolving World tab. The race related ones should remain obtainable.

Trial - Road - A800 2000s - Used the 2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe (434 156 224). Car did pretty well, though had to wall ride some turns. Came in 3rd in the first race, behind a person and an AI. In the 2nd race, was in 2nd place going into the left turn around the 80% or so mark, and someone in a Hot Wheels Deora rammed me from behind, driving me into the wall and losing a few places. I decided to stop near the finish so the team would lose the race. Guy was ramming again in the 3rd race, shoving me from 3rd to 4th, so I decided to stop again to tank the entire Trial. Would've worked, except the person in last dropped out, giving the team a 50 point win in the race and the Trial win. Guy told me in XBL chat after the Trial I should learn to use my brakes. I asked why it would've mattered, since he rear ended me while I was braking going into a turn. He claimed he was a racer IRL, I told him he should learn to be a better teammate. Jackass.

Canyonball Raceway EventLab - S2 998 Anything - 3 laps, about a minute per, no AI.

Origami Park Day EventLab - S2 998 Anything - 5 laps, sub minute lap, no AI.

Heights of Mulegé Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 984.3 feet (3 stars is 850) - Hit 1,271 with the 2019 Rimac Concept Two (551 707 630). Set a waypoint at the Danger Sign and fast traveled to the dirt road north of the expressway for my run up. Cleared the ramp at 180 mph. Coincides with Tuesday's daily.

Pantano Pass Speed Trap - S2 998 Anything - 180 mph (3 stars is 165) - New PB of 227.4 with the Rimac. If you travel west from the trap, a dirt road merges into the paved road at a bend. Starting from that point, I got 222. Going back along the dirt road, when it bends, an unmarked dirt road continues on into the trees. I went back into the trees to begin the run up.

River Run Speed Zone - S2 998 Anything - 115 mph (3 stars is 110) - Managed 115.90 going north to south and 115.26 going south to north with the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR (173 153 818). Rimac couldn't handle the turns while maintaining speed. Started from the bends in the road past each end of the zone. One of the few main map stunts where the threshold was above my PB. I think this was the first one since they set a 1 million point target for the big drift zone on the east side of the volcano.

Got this by clearing the 3 star target on the Drag Strip Speed Trap at the festival with the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR. Was the first Retro one I tried since I had just finished the Speed Zone.

Had to bring this over from the XBL thread. Series 45 reruns Series 18. Spring was Mar 2-9, 2023. Rally Adventure released after this series, so the challenges for that are new. EventLab restrictions appear to be the same as the original. They're gifting a car for one of the challenges.

Trial - Street - B700 Evo or Impreza - Used the 1998 Subrau Impreza 22B-STI Version (157 143 552). Not an autoshow car, but has been available in the Forzathon shop and as a playlist reward a few times. I picked it because it had the best rated acceleration of the eligible cars I had already upgraded. Despite the AI not being upgraded, this was a bit sloppy because of the fog, road spray and other traffic. Finished 4th (2nd person) in the first race. Team was losing when I finished, so not sure what happened with the AI that allowed the team to pull out the win. Hard right around the 60% mark caused issues, and I think the person that was in the lead shortly after that missed staying on a bridge and fell back. They might've recovered enough to get the win. Second race was better, team finished 2-7, with me in 4th.

Utopia Gardens EventLab - S1 900 Rally Monsters - 2 laps, about 2 minutes per, no AI. There are a number of jumps you'll need to be going fast enough to make.

Castillo Scramble EventLab - S1 900 Hoonigan - 2 laps, about 1:30 per, no AI.

Valle Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 984.3 feet (3 stars is 750) - Hit 1,611.84 with the rally 2019 Rimac Concept 2 (551 707 630). Started on the paved road NE of the sign, near the XP board. As the road bends right toward the intersection, I turned harder toward the sign. Was already airborne as I passed over the sign at just under 220 mph.

Orilla Del Rio Speed Zone - S2 998 Anything - 120 mph (3 stars is 110) - Hit 125.91 with the rally Rimac. Ran it south to north, cutting on the inside of the opening bend. Was at around 135 when entering the sweeping right to the end and basically drifted through it to keep above the target.

Cascadas Trail Blazer - S2 998 Anything - 27 seconds (3 stars is 25) - Hit 37.145 with the 1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution (780 472 164), shaving about 4 seconds off my PB. Short run up, started on the other side of the paved road from the gate. Just past the gate are 4 trees. Went between them, 2 on left, 2 on right, to get on the paved road. As the road bends left after the Granjas De Tapalpa icon (this week's Trial), I stayed straight and nearly jumped the river. Then it's dodging trees and stream rocks until the finish gate. Entered the back of the gate and it counted.

Instant Classic - Dirt - C600 Classic Rally - No problems with the 1983 Volvo 242 Turbo Evolution (209 662 367). Didn't know it when I picked that car, but winning a race with it completed one of the Dirt accolades (bottom of 3rd last column).

Hot Wheels

Forest Edge Speed Trap - S2 998 Anything - 260 mph (3 stars is 240) - Using the 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione (179 735 371) I hit 267 going north-south and 263 going south-north. Also hit 295 with my RWD 2020 Koeniggsegg Jesko (957 293 364). Neither of my Rimac tunes could top ~255, just weren't getting any help from the turbines. Made some tuning tweaks and got one (167 202 516) that hit 289.47, better than the other Rimacs in the CAG leaderboard. Trade off is it doesn't handle as well as my other tunes. Also took those lessons and tuned a Hennessey Venom F5 that topped the leaderboard.

Shadow Realm - Hazard - S1 900 Super GT - No problems with the 2017 Ferrari 812 Superfast (332 517 723). All routes stay on the track.

Rally Adventure

Canyon Rush Speed Trap - A800 Alfa Romeo - 155 mph - Squeaked by with 155.11 in the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (507 795 945). Kept getting between 145 and 150 coming from the south approach, so I tried the road to the west of it to get a little extra boost coming down the hill. Started from the hairpin and stayed on the gas the whole way.

O Romeo, Romeo - Apex Predator - A800 Alfa Romeo - Used the Quadrifoglio. AI was aggressive. Had one on me until the end of the first and third races, while I needed a full speed wall ram to get the lead on the final turn of the middle race.

Reading through the playlist thread on the Forza forums, the Rally Adventure challenges are from Series 33 Summer. Looks like I didn't manage the Speed Trap with the normal tune, but switched to drag tires for a bit more power and cleared the target by over 4 mph.

Canyon Rush Speed Trap - A800 Alfa Romeo - 155 mph - Had to tweak the tune used for the championship, kept falling short. Swapped in drag tires to drop the PI to add a bit more power and lose weight. Hit 159.46 with 164 824 961. For my run up, I went up the hill off the road south of the trap, near Senda de Montaña.

La Cruz Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 754.6 feet (3 stars is 650) - Hit 904.75 first try with the untuned rally 2019 Rimac Concept Two (551 707 630). Started back at the 3 way intersection NE of the sign and left the cliff at 226 mph. Try to angle your approach so you're aiming to land outside of the left flag. The ground slopes downhill that direction and can keep you airborne a bit longer. If your front end or either side is angled down, let the jump play out. You may slide / roll when you hit the ground and extend the jump. Tried more with my different Rimac tunes. The tuned one (167 202 516) hit 1,064 in a clean attempt, then 1,094 when the car somersaulted after hitting the ground but it didn't fail. Race tune (131 655 301) managed 1,113. Then back to rally and hit 1,126.21.

Caballo Blanco Speed Trap - S2 998 Anything - 160 mph (3 stars is 145) - Hit 165 with the untuned rally Rimac. Started back at the stream past the bottom of the hill.

Panoramica Drift Zone - S2 998 Anything - 77k (3 stars is 50k) - Ran once each way with the 1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution (780 472 164). Topped 80k going uphill and 90k going downhill starting from the intersections at each end.

Cráteres Secos Speed Zone - C600 1990s Toyota Celica - 58 mph - Used the 1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185 (168 807 983). Going clockwise, hit 58.53 on the first attempt starting from the bend just past the end of the zone. Took a few tries going counter clockwise. Got a few 56s and 57s before finally hitting 58.25.

Royalty of Rally - Grit Reapers - C600 1990s Toyota Celica - No problems with the '92 Celica.

EventLab setups are the same except there are now 11 AI opponents.

For Cordillera Lapras, I used 1973 Alpine A110 1600S (745 185 224), which is the reward from the Trial. Got into first making the hard left at the easternmost point of the route. AI stayed close for the next portion, briefly passing me coming out of the western hairpin along the north side. Finally created some separation coming out of the final turn at the westernmost point.

For Mangrove Rallycross, I used the 2014 Ford #11 Rockstar F-150 Trophy Truck (575 074 100). Got into first at the first turn of the second lap, but went back and forth with a Baja Bone Shaker. It was ahead nearing the end of the lap, but appeared to get caught on a lip of the outer wall after a jump that lead into the final turn. I got by it and it appeared to hang up the other AI, allowing me to build a lead for the final lap.

Mostly a repeat of Series 18, Winter, with Rally Adventure coming from Series 33.

Note that the weekly challenge car is not available from the autoshow. It's available from one of the week's EventLabs and is the reward from the accolade for getting 5 car drops in a single game of Eliminator.

Trial - Dirt - 1973 Alpine A110 1600S - Used 321 960 106. AI wasn't tuned, neither was half my team. Team finished 1/3/5/7/8/11 and 2-4, 6-8 to take both races. I finished first and second.

Crop Circle Stadium Rally EventLab - S1 900 Hoonigan - 2 laps, little under 90 seconds per, no AI. Provides the weekly challenge car.

River Rush EventLab - A800 Unlimited Offroad - 2 laps, about 3 minutes per, no AI. Route splits often, so you don't necessarily have to follow the driving line to get to each checkpoint.

Stadium Jump Danger Sign - S2 998 Anything - 1,312.3 feet (3 stars is 900) - Hit 1,955.92 with the rally 2019 Rimac Concept Two (551 707 630). Started at the bend downhill from where the road splits and the right takes you down to the ramp. Hit the ramp at 230 mph. Can be tough taking that split turn at speed. Starting at the split and heading downhill should give enough speed to clear the target.

Rocky Hills Speed Zone - S2 998 Anything - 85 mph (3 stars is 70) - Hit 86.7 with the 1986 Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution (780 472 164). Ran west to east, taking the inside on corners. Took a few tries, not an easy zone.

Quebrada Trail Blazer - S2 998 Anything - 33 seconds (3 stars is 30) - New PB of 36.905 with the RS200. Started from the dashed dirt intersection north of the gate. Then I gave the rally Rimac a whirl - 38.873.

Rally To Rumble - Dirt - B700 Modern Rally - No problems with the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (127 056 759).

Sprint Finish - Road - B700 Homologation Heroes - No problems with the 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 (119 788 399).

  • Copper Canyon Sprint
  • Dunas Blancas Sprint
Treasure Hunt
Used the 1999 Ford Racing Puma and ran the Cascadas Danger Sign near the Horizon Wilds Outpost. Car was already upgraded to just C600, started from the Gran Pantano Sprint and only jumped 500-600 feet, but it triggered the chest. No idea if it can be tuned enough to jump the mouth of the river past the Runway Danger Sign.

Photo - Fast traveled to the Playa Azul Circuit, drove south. Lion mural is on right before you get to the Goliath. Switched cars, photo registered.

Hot Wheels

Ice Cauldron Drift Zone - S2 998 Anything - 175k (3 stars is 160k) - Topped 207k going clockwise, 198k counter clockwise in the RS200.

Zero to Hero - Hazard - A800 Sports Utility Heroes - No problems in the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo (119 662 635).

  • Forest Gorge Hazard Sprint
  • Canyon's Drop Hazard Sprint

Rally Adventure

Devil's Pass Speed Zone - B700 Mini John Cooper Works - 73 mph - Used the 2012 Mini John Cooper Works GP (147 301 248). Starting 2 turns past the north end, I hit 74.53. Starting from the first turn past the south end, hit 75.07.

In the Works - Apex Predators - B700 Mini John Cooper Works - 3 wins with the 2012 Mini John Cooper Works GP (147 301 248), but the AI didn't make it easy. Particularly the middle race.

The Crop Circle EventLab was replaced by East Mangrove Circuit, which was pulled from the Spring season this series. Judging from the playlist tiles, it will be used again next week.

Originally, the weekly challenge car was awarded from the EventLab that was replaced. The new EventLab awards a different car. Besides the Series 18 EventLab, the 2016 Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 was awarded in Series 5 Summer (Trial). It's also available from the Hoarder Eliminator accolade (get 5 car drops in a single game).

East Mangrove Circuit EventLab - B700 Modern Rally - 1 lap, took me 4:11.487, 11 AI. Used the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (902 752 165). Got into first around the internal hairpin on the east side of the route. Created a little separation after the cross over, but the AI closed again near the end.

For the River Rush EventLab, I used the 2014 Ford #11 Rockstar F-150 Trophy Truck (575 074 100). Kept mostly to the route line, though I did take the left route at the first split of the second lap. Leads to a jump and shortcut, though it didn't really save me any time. First lap was around 2:45, second was a few seconds longer. Got into first during the first lap at the westernmost end of the route. Created some separation, but never fully pulled away.
