If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.

Sorry if I missed this, but does the 10% come off the original price before any other discounts or credits are used, or does it come off your final cost?

Thanks for your help.
It comes off the original price.
I noticed the original post states that the coupon codes will expire on 9/30? Will they be adding new codes at that time or is the promotion over? I don't want to jump in for a month and then lose out.
I would like to know too.
I would like to know too.
add another to the list of curious folks. i'm sure i've already spent enough to get my money back on the deal, but my membership goes beyond that end date.

Last batch expired 6/30, had a bit of problems until the new set came out, but they did. I can only imagine more will be coming, hopefully without any hiccups.

Is anyone else noticing when they cancel a pre-order and then reorder the same item again, that the promo is already being applied? I have also noticed this on some other games I ordered that the 10% is being applied w/o me inputting it.

Hahah, weird, I was just going to post this.

Yep, same thing here, I literally just pre-ordered a few games just to be safe, and surely enough, the ECA promo had already been applied to each...

Yup, as soon as you 'apply' a promo code it gets tied to your account. I hate it! It stays there until you buy something. You can't remove it! At least i haven't found a way to do so. I even tried clearing browser data and cookies. Its all on their side.

I applied a 50% off code but i don't want to use it yet. I just wanted to see what game items it would work on. The problem is that im now stuck and can't buy any of the smaller items i want!!!
Japakneez, pre-order something that's months away(thus applying your codes), make your smaller purchase, cancel the pre-order.
Thanks. I have emailed a CSR about this and the issue totally flew over his head. He started talking about 3rd party sellers and then told to me to uncheck a radio button to remove the code....if i uncheck this radio button it will also remove my amazon credit. He didn't get it. Arggh!

I'm awaiting another reply from a different CSR. But i will go with your solution if all else fails.

how can I contact amazon if I haven't received my 50% off code?

I would like to do it by email but can't find the proper email address.

There is no email address. You have to submit an email through the site.

- Look at the top right corner of the main page and click on 'Help'
- Then click on the 'Contact Us' button on the right. You will be able to email or receive a phone call from there.

hey i am curious what would happen i f i canceled my preorder on rock band beetle i used the 50 percent off coupon would they just refund me money to my promotional money or what give me a new coupon?
hey i am curious what would happen i f i canceled my preorder on rock band beetle i used the 50 percent off coupon would they just refund me money to my promotional money or what give me a new coupon?
The 50% promo code is automatically tied to your account so it'll be applied to your next game purchase automatically. Read a few posts above in case you decide to not use it and want to save it for down the line, but have a few games you wanna order without using it up.

Not sure if this has been brought up but it seems like Amazon automatically takes 10% off for me now. I noticed this the 2nd time I attempted to use the coupon and today I confirmed it in my account. It seems whenever I add a video game related item into my account, I get 10% knocked off.

It also seems Amazon automatically applies coupons for me (such as the $30). Just wanted see if this is happening to other people. Do you think the ECA is able to tie accounts to Amazon?

If you activated a code prior, then your account remembers it until it expires or is used. Did you happen to do that with both codes?

See that's the thing. Amazon automatically applied my 50% off code, and a $30 code without me ever applying it. I never copied and pasted the codes into my account.

Same with the 10% off code. I only put it in one code for a previous order but now whenever I purchase a video game related item I get 10% off automatically applied. This has happened for the past 3 orders so maybe it's just a fluke?

o_O ... I am stunned, I have no clue now

Yep since a few days ago, Amazon auto applies ECA code now for me, I done purchased 4 games, and discount applied automatically....I like that :)
Is it possible to use the ECA discount on an order that has already been placed?
Not through the normal process. You would need to cancel the order and place a new one. However, you may be able to contact customer service, provide them with a valid code and have them discount the order.

ditto

Well, I've been placing orders every day the last 3 days and it is NOT auto-applying for me.

One question - do all you guys have ECA and Amazon account emails that are the same? Mine are different because I used my old (very old ;)) grad school .edu account for ECA signup.

That's the weird thing. My ECA email account is a different one from my Amazon account and I'm still getting the discount automatically applied. So I'm not sure how they tied the two accounts together. I'm wondering what happened to all those ECA accounts that were selling their codes to other people...

I don't have some 10% always applied discount either. Used one code on Demon's souls, which I cancelled and then used on a batman: AA order. Just used another code this week on a ps3 controller. Added something to my cart and nothing showed up. My amazon e-mail and eca e-mail are two different addresses as well.

I just bought something else (Sands of Destruction for DS was in my gold box picks - only $23 after that + ECA) and did not have it auto applied. I don't care, really, as long as I can continue to get codes from the ECA site.

I think I'm done with this ECA crap. I can't seem to get a reply on signing up. I feel like a total retard for not seeing the pay info to get these codes.

Are you clicking on the link in the email and getting a cart with an amount shown but no way to check out or pay for it? That happened to me (and many others I think). I just kept trying and about 2 days later it worked - finally got a place to enter payment info.

I got Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach in my gold box today. Ordered both with the ECA discount.

Edit: Does anyone know if the $10 credit from Halo 3: ODST will be automatically applied to another preoder? It says: "This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders."

I am not sure what that means.
If I cancel a pre-order that has the %50 coupon on the order, can I use code again or am I screwed?
Just cancel the order, the coupon will appear automatically when you add the next game into your cart. Of course these do expire august 31st? So don't hang on to it for too long.

It means you get the 10$ credit no matter when you pre-order it. You can't use it or actually even get it probably until the game ships.

damn i'm still trying to get the following in my goldbox:
batman: AA
Ultimate Alliance 2
Modern Warfare 2
Mass Effect 2

all for xbox, anyone have any luck with these?

I have toy story mania in my GB. Nothing on my second account. Not one nintendo or wii related item that I'm actually using for recommendations, as per usual, of course. All I'm looking for are upcoming 360/ps3 games and still have yet to see one after uncharted 2 weeks ago.

What the hell. The closest thing I have had 360 related was MS hdmi cables. I have everything rated high/ I own it relating to 360 on Amazon (minus the stuff I want) and yet I continue to get pens, bug zappers, dvd's etc...in my gold box. My recommendations are all 360 related though.

I had Mass Effect 2 and Ultimate Alliance 2 in my Gold Box BEFORE I had ECA. I cancelled the pre-orders hoping they'd pop right back in like a few other games did, but the past few days I haven't gotten ANY games in my Gold Box :bomb: I never got Batman because I pre-ordered that one quickly and re-did right away when I got ECA because it had only been at the $52.99 price point. I don't recall ever seeing MW2 but hadn't been looking closely because I had done the Best Buy pre-order on that one.

It's still possible to get games that you already preorder into your gold box again. I just got Metorid Prime Trilogy in my gold box today even though I preordered the game about a month ago. If you want Batman to show up tried rating the guide a five star so it can improve your chance later.

OK so I just bought this ECA membership today and I have a few orders pre-ordered and the codes they are giving me aren't working. I haven't used any codes at all today yet and I have made sure that it is typed in correctly. ANyone else having similar problems. I tried using this for mana khemia 2 and for dragon age collectors edition.

nevermind I figured it out. I had to cancel my existing order and replace it. I had a bunch of games preordered. I got the membership for 15 and I have already applied 23.10 in discounts off of games that I have preordered. This is a sweet deal.

Nope, no cart or anything.

I've gotten 4 emails. One to confirm. One that says it's been confirmed and 2 with a bunch of links to news articles. Thats it. I go to the benefits page, and log in and get nothing. I click all over the place, FAQS, everything and never get an option to enter credit card info.

I'f someone can take a screencap of what i'm missing. The help would be appreciated.

For Anyone who signed up for ECA lately - How long did all these emails take? Signed up an hour ago and all i got was a confirmation email for some newsletter right away. No "Cart" email or whatever im supposed to get. Tried to have it resent and nothing so far.

Should be almost instant. I tried signing up with my .edu address and didn't get anything. When I changed it to a yahoo email, it showed up almost instantly.

For those canceling pre-orders to use the ECA discount. Did you even bother trying to contact customer support to apply a code for you? I just asked them to do it for me and they did it without hesitation and hassle.:bouncy:

Not trying to condone anything here.. but if you call to apply a coupon and your order is in a state where it cannot be changed until it gets delivered, they will typically just give you a gift card to make up for your "troubles". This gift card ranges from $5 to $10 for normal priced games.
