[quote name='dallascowboys']If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.[/QUOTE]

[quote name='slickkill77']You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.[/QUOTE]

[quote name='major morgan']Should be almost instant. I tried signing up with my .edu address and didn't get anything. When I changed it to a yahoo email, it showed up almost instantly.[/QUOTE]

Intersting. I tried using my ISP Email (Bellsouth.net) and i dident get anything about the checkout. I switched it to my gmail, hit resend and it showed up right away and i was able to checkout...:)

Thanks for the tip!

I just used one on the Xbox 360 black wireless controller which is down to $29.99 right now. Got it for $26.99 shipped. I needed a fourth for my son and his friends to play not to mention that one of the 3 I have is going a little batty (left stick tends to drift one way or the other on it's own).

The eca sent a confirmation to .edu address almost instantly but when I try to check out it won't allow me because of this error and I know my info is good. Wanted to know if anyone else had a problem.

We were unable to process your credit card payment. Please verify your card details and try again. If the problem persists, contact us to complete your order.

Woo!

Signed up using my University address and just pre-ordered 4 games for $152 shipped from Amazon:
Wii - Metroid Prime Trilogy (w/poster)
Wii - Muramasa The Demon Blade
PS3 - Katamari Forever
DS - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (w/exclusive sleeve)

So I'm basically getting KH for free! :D

I love being a turtle!.........er..........CAG! ;)

I'm about to purchase Wii Sports Resort (w/ ECA and $10 off coupon), but I have a question...

What is all this talk of people having games in their Goldbox? I can't find a goldbox other than the one listed under "Today's Deals" at the top of the page.

Is it an Amazon Prime thing, or am I just looking in the wrong area?

After you click today's deals, scroll down and you will see a section with [your actual name] quick picks that amazon chooses for you that day as goldbox deals. You must be signed in for this to show. There are usually 3-8 things listed for 5% off the price that the item is selling for that day.

On the "Today's Deals" page - scroll down under the Deal of the Day and Best Deal's sections. If you're logged in, it should say: "Bobby's Quick Picks" which will have 4-6 items there. The prices are slightly lower there than they currently are on the site. This is what people are talking about.

I couldn't get the Gold Box trick to work right, so I just spent 30 minutes making sure my recommendations were based off of just PS3 games. Lo and behold, Uncharted 2 pre-order in my Gold Box today :D :D

Received a nice package from ECA for stomping on that ebay user.

A very nice thank you, and glad to have helped. I assume others recieved a similar package by Fedex?

I got one today too - very cool of them to send us a little something for helping them out.

[quote name='guyver2077']does this work on xbla games? how bout ms points?[/QUOTE]

It doesn't work on digital stuff and it'll only work on physical points cards.

[quote name='Celsius']I signed up at http://www.theeca.com/ but I don't see a place to input my CC info. Where do I have to go to buy the membership for $15?[/QUOTE]

I had the same question before. Wait a few hours I think and they will send you another e-mail with a link to sign up with your credit card.

Thanks for answering my questions about the Gold Box. All I have in mine are books, likely from the wife ordering a golf book for a college class. Boo. I just purchased Wii Sports Resort ($30.49 shipped w/ ECA and $10 off coupon) though, so maybe that'll help change the offers?

Click on "we have recommendations" at the top of the page and then you will see "see all recommendations". Click that. It will bring up 100's of your recommendations based on what you have bought or looked at in the past. Go through it and check not interested on items you dont want in there. (non-video game items) Under that not interested box, you will see "Recommended because you purchased xxxxx and more (Fix this)". Click on fix this and tell them not to use that particular item for recommendation. You have to go through 100's of items to make you have a better chance of getting games in your quick picks.

Also go to "improve your recommendations" of the left column of that page. It will show items you bought from amazon. Click don't use as a recommendation on non-game items there as well.

Finally go to your browsing history and delete all non-game items there.

Doing all this takes time and does not guarantee just games everyday, but you will have a better chance of getting them in your quick pick gold box.

....And I get Hannah Montana The Movie 3 disc set in my gold box. Really Amazon, really? They have one messed up system when it comes to picking gold box items

[quote name='slickkill77']....And I get Hannah Montana The Movie 3 disc set in my gold box. Really Amazon, really? They have one messed up system when it comes to picking gold box items[/QUOTE]

Thats funny because I have the soundtrack in my goldbox now.

[quote name='gi60']What's in the package? :)[/QUOTE]

They sent me a a 2XL ECA T-shirt (won't be wearing it since it's too big for me, but that's okay), an ECA pin, an ECA pen that's the size of those big Crayola crayons, an ECA membership card (same one you'd get if you signed up for your membership through Target or Walmart) and a flash drive.

It was a nice little surprise considering I didn't go after those scammers looking for anything in return...just wanted to make sure those punks didn't ruin the Amazon codes or make money where they shouldn't.

[quote name='Dahk']Sorry for the noob question...

If I have rated something, does that mean it wont be in my quick picks?[/QUOTE]
That's my understanding. They assume that if you rate it you must already own it.

[quote name='gi60']What's in the package? :)[/QUOTE]

[quote name='y2jasper']ya i want to know too![/QUOTE]

a runner backpack, kinda like a simple bag with straps that tighten the top and can be worn like a backpack. (Currently my lunch sack) It has the ECA logo on it.

Tee shirt - sweet shirt of their last campaign on games and how they don't make me a killer.

8gb usb drive, nice quality made by Patriot Xporter

ECA Pen - HUG pen, it's like a big fatty marker size but it's just a ball point pen, with their logo.

ECA membership card - New card, for one year. I guess to extend my current sub or maybe to give to a friend. I've seen these at ... can't remember, but some retail store.

I probably should have snapped a picture of it.

FINALLY... Heavy Rain showed up in my Goldbox... $48.xx, absolutely great price!

Now I just need The Last Guardian to show up.

[quote name='dansoccerball']can u use eca on playstation store cards?[/QUOTE]

Nope, I couldn't get the code to work. I'm not sure if it's because the cards don't qualify for the discount or if it's because it isn't being sold by amazon (it's target.com).

[quote name='Vinny']FINALLY... Heavy Rain showed up in my Goldbox... $48.xx, absolutely great price!

Maybe tommorrow, I got Heavy Rain yesterday and today Last Guardian. I'm still waiting for Fallout 3 GOTY and COD MW2 HE.

I've been getting some sweet goldbox items the past few days. ODST, Professor Layton, Wii Sports resort.

Today I have Uncharted 2 in my goldbox for $54.14 ($48.73 with ECA!), but I still cannot justify buying it with such a massive backlog and not much time to game. :(

[quote name='jeffpm']I'm trying to purchase the membership, and I'm a college student. It's giving me the 19.99 price, how do I get the 14.99?[/QUOTE]

You need to sign up with your .edu account. Otherwise you have to pay full price. However, you may not even receive the sign up/registration email at your .edu account (like me and several others). If that's the case, you may be stuck paying full price.

Interestingly enough I got Heavy Rain in my Goldbox today too. I watched the Amazon trailer, but really know nothing else about it. It sort of reminds me of Shenmue (which is one of my favorite series ever...).

Anybody want to convince me to buy it??

Still waiting for Demon Souls to pop back up...last time it did the codes were down...

Thanks, it worked!

Hey, I think you should buy Heavy Rain. It's like Shenmue, kinda. O:)

wow, ordering kingdom hearts 358/2 really influenced my goldbox today. i got golden sun ds, mario & luigi: bowser's inside story, professor layton & the diabolical box, suikoden tierkreis, and muramasa too! i'm thinking about grabbing golden sun (since i loved the first 2) but it doesn't come out until feb. and seems a little early to pre order. all the other games i would rather buy when i can find them cheaper then ~$30.

also it was weird, for about 10 minutes i had dragon quest v in my goldbox as well, but it then dissappeared, like a hallucination.

is the membership not working at the moment for anyone else? i was about to generate a new code to use for golden sun and it keeps giving me the same code that amazon says is already redeemed. and my friend just signed up for it and for him it isn't showing a link to click to generate a new code at all.

[quote name='Manoleke']does the code works on PS3 slim?[/QUOTE]

No, it's for games and gaming accessories.
I just pre-ordered a PSlim3 if you're wondering how I know.

To get code:
1)Log IN
2)Go to Members Area
3)Under "Discounted Games Sales/Rental Offerings" it should have Amazon.com
4)"Click here" to get another offer code

edit: receiving the same code also
