UPDATE: Many CAGs are reporting that the trade in deal has been extended to the end of July! Be aware that this has not been confirmed and like everything else FYE does, may be very YMMV depending on the competancy of their employees.

Looks like FYE is running their "Brown Bag" trade in deal again.

Basically, anything you trade in (CD,DVD,Game) gets an automatic 20% bump, plus if you elect to get store credit, you get another 25% bump!!! Just be sure that your stuff is in good shape and complete...FYE can be very picky! And also be aware that like any other deal at FYE, this can be YMMV depending on how on the ball the staff is!

According to the brown bags, this promo runs until 7/18/07 so we all have plenty of time to exploit it!

THIS is the bag you need to look for:

Thanks. I thought as much but wasn't sure.

Do you know about the Suncoast trade in policies by any chance? I only have 1 game to trade so that part wouldn't be a big deal to me. The bunch of DVDs that I have for trade fodder is what I am really wanting the get that 45% on.
It appears they have 3 different types of Helio phones, one for $50 ("Helio Heat" - Free after instant rebate)
Instant rebate? It'll ring up at $50 and an IR will show up when? After hitting Subtotal or Total?

edit: thanks for the upc info, guys. I'm going to see how I do tomorrow at Arbor Place.

PSP: Armored Core- 12.00, Popolocrois 16.00, Ape Escape Academy 10.00, Ghost In A Shell 7.00

You know the downside to my local FYE is? They don't have any games..,except for the ones I sold them!

NBA Starting Five (PS2) is $1.99 used at EB/Gamestop and is quoted on secondspin to be trading in for $12 pre-bonus. It definitely was getting $12 in store when I tried it a bit ago, however FYE sells the game for $17.17 so a drop in trade value could easily occur in the next day or two.

Secondspin shows it as $17.17 to purchase, but still offers the $12. Two local gamestops here have it so ill try it tonight after work and let you know if its dead or not.

Do you know the SKU number for the game at gamestop?

Just so everyone knows, the PS3 is 500 at FYE. Just got back with mine, and a 30 dollar rebate. Ended being around 200 physical dollars, with all the trade ins. Thanks CAG and OP!

well i went to make one last big trade at an fye in oceanside ny a few weeks ago i had no problem flipping mulitple eragons

today i go back and its some dude working there who decided to be a complete di**, and tell me he couldnt accept boxed sets (24 series 1-5),

they took my other stuff but i took it all back and said id go somewhere else

now i know, only go when women work

I only have one bag left and I want to get in on the enchanted arms flipping before it's too late.

I think I may just drop EA and Motorstorm (which should get me about 40.00) and hold onto The Darkness as it should retain it's value for somewhat longer.

How are people getting the Helio phones free? My FYE syas there is a 2 yr contract to sign...

I just cannot find out how to spend my $50+ in credit already, without flipping EA... unless there's a way to get movie tickets to see Transformers from FYE somehow with gift cards...

Found out Drill Dozer GBA is $8 on Wherehouse, I just sent that and some other Kmart portable games I had gotten in the 30% off into them for $$.

just made some trades

star wars episodes 2, 3 - 5 each + 45%
enchanted arms 38.60 after 45%
kill bill $4
ecw most bloodiest matches $5

64 in total around, not bad but they wouldnt take 24 bc they have so many already

i may try some more enchanted arms

They must've gotten overstocked with the BB coupon and dvd box set sale... It was $10 per season of 24, FYE was giving something like $20+ for it.

yeah im pretty heated, i have been to 2 fye's both said they werent buying 24's anymore, im gonna try a couple more, luckily theres another week + in the sale so i can always try again, but my hopes for a cheap 360 have faded

I can confirm that NBA Starting Five gets $12 before bonus and is only $1.79 @ EB/GS after edge discount. Their website has a store locator that worked more than great for me (found 4 copies total in two diff stores, woot!).

Almost a 900% markup. Definately my best in a while.

Grabbed an Enchanted Arms upstairs at the mall, opened it up, went downstairs and doubled my money at FYE

And for once, FYE's incompetence paid off...they didn't take my Brown bag and let me keep it for more 20% trades.

are u serious NBA Starting Five is $12 instore, but i don't see it on eb and or gamestop websites. i will check the stores tommorrow.

Im wondering, how are the stock of bags in stores? Could one still find them on the counter or are most of them gone by now?

just tried 2 price adjust the ps3 and got shot down. I'm gonna talk 2 the manager tomorrow, then the district...aw, fuck it...I'm emailing corporate tonight.

Has anyone confirmed a price match on a system??? I just got a 360 from FYE 12 days ago. If there is a price drop tomorrow as expected, any chance of getting an adjustment???
You gotta search for something first, then hit 'show backordered items'. Then search for NBA Starting Five.

And yes, the Helio deal is alive and well.
I tried that and unfortunately, my local GS stores had NONE of these in stock according to the usual online stock thing.

So, I'm SOL on trying to flip some really cheap games to FYE for decent return on my $$$.

Traded in *looks at receipt* well, a lot of CDs this morning. Also two games, HL2 xbox (already noted above) and Spongebob Lights Camera Pants xbox trades in at $7.50 before bump.

Later went to Kennesaw FYE at that mall to check their anime section. blarf. But I did pick up the last helio heat (gold). It's pretty snazzy looking. Before I add it to my trade list or ebay it, does anyone know if I can transfer my sim card to the helio and effectively, transfer my t-mobile prepaid account to this phone?

I'm guessing probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
FYE is a really bad place to shop. I think it's hilarious a manager/employee would actively try to discourage business by taking a literal interpretation of the "fill it up!" line on the bag.

Just goes to remind me why I haven't made any major purchases in retail stores for the past four years. Think people on the internet are bad? Real people are far, far worse.
My FYE used to be decent. About a year ago I would trade in stuff from time to time and typically would use the credit to get afew games I couldn't find elsewhere in my area (Ice Climber New for GBA for example) and when I used to trade in it was as good of an experience as one could have trading in at a FYE B&M.

I tried again today with a different worker and it was probably even worse.

1 - I was told that I had to trade stuff in just to get a "brown bag" and at that I couldn't use it on this visit if I wanted to only the next time I'm in and want to trade stuff in.

2 - I know FYE is strick about the condition of the stuff they take in but today was way harsher then I've ever dealt with at any store in person. Trading in 3 things 1 rejected for minor circular scuff marks CDs get from some crappy CD players & another for having some very minor dust or smudge (sp?) marks. And when I asked about them the lady went on to show me what was wrong with them and then went on to tell me that the one she did let me trade in was borderline as if she was doing me a huge favor taking it.

Both workers were very confitational and rude when I asked about (or challenged) how the brown bag promotion works. I can now understand (first hand) why a few people actually told off an FYE clerk during this promotion. They were definately in line for a glitter attack AND having the magazine rack kicked over :D Funniest part was I asked about having to trade in so many items to get the 20% bonus and according to this lady it didn't matter how many items I traded in to get the brown bag bonus lol

I will also mention that I can't help but think that these FYE workers were trained to be as such when it comes to trading in anymore at this store from how they reacted and treated me. They don't really get exploited bad (I checked Sunday no used Enchanted Arms or DDRU used in stock) with high credit video games and think that corperate is probably cracking the whip on this store simply because they probably get a bad ratio of people trading in and taking cash and leaving compared to what they sell.

Its just old. According to ebay it came out 10/9/2002. Theres a few copies on ebay; one being a BIN @ $7 (not as good as $1.99, but its still a profit).

When is FYE going to drop the price on their PS3s? I checked the site today, planning to go out and buy one with some of the credit I have amassed, and it still says $599.99. Any chance if I had them look at the official playstation.com blog that talked about the price drop being effective immediately, that they would let me have it at the price it is supposed to be?

They have some great deals to exploit, but they really make it seem not worthwhile with their piss-poor customer service.

I think somebody said that in the local FYE, PS3 is $499. call your FYE to confirm it before you go.

I think I read that FYE doesn't like unopened DVDs? I don't open a DVD until I'm ready to watch it (in case I have second thoughts it's easier to sell as "in factory shrinkwrap")'. I know every store is different, but will they hassle me for having unopened stuff? I would have no problem opening stuff before handing it to them, but i don't necessarily want to open them with no guarantee of trading it.
Also, is Second Spin a reasonably good source of tradein values for FYE?

second spin is a good indication for trading in dvds

in a matter of fact, i traded in kill bill yesterday and it said 4 on the site but was 5 in person

i havent traded in unopened dvds, but if u are unsure just unwrap them then, unless u plan on returning them to the store should fye reject it

I was in FYE this morning and when I asked about this deal, I was told it's 20% if you want cash and only an extra 5% (25% total) if you get store credit. How confident can I be that the clerk is wrong, and that I'll get the full 45% if I want credit when I go by there later?

By the way, I can't believe I skipped over this thread so many times... it's effing amazing. :D Thanks, OP!

Just called my store (an FYE), he said
"Cash value is still the same, store credit is normally 25% more, with the bag its 20% on top of that" and he specifically mentioned the figure "45%". Time to trade in some of this stuff that's been sitting around.

That clerk is wrong, try it again later with a different clerk. I don't know if it'll be a clerk thing or a store thing, but let's just hope it's a clerk thing :)

And if he tells you it's only 25%, act like you're the one who knows what you're doing and he doesn't know. You explain it to him, then ask to talk to the manager (which will probably be a worse experience).

I went to the FYE in Tampa,Fl and didnt even need to mention the 20% +25% trade-in.The clerk told me about it.Easiest $50.00 I eve made off old games that were collecting dust.I dont remember who the OP of this thread is but many thanks to you.
:applause::D

Sounds good! Thanks.

I can't believe that I can trade some games that I bought for about $40 in the past few weeks and they'll give me $60 cash or $72 store credit for them. Sweet! \\:D/

Now if I can find NBA Starting Five on the way home from work...

Wow, I had pretty good luck. The FYE clerks gave me the bag back and said if I had any more just bring them in. I found a few more dvds at BL , but FYE won't take Panda Z. Oh, well. ^^ Now if I can only find NBA Starting Five.

Are FYEs picky if you turn in multiple of the same item? I found a GS about 16 miles away that has 3 NBA Starting 5, and I was thinking about flipping them, a few Enchanted Arms and maybe a few 360 Rayman Raving Rabbids, would they not like this? Also, FYEs ask for a license and phone number when trading stuff in... Do they keep records of what you traded in or anyhing?

I'm trying to get a PS3 for cheap, so I'm really gonna whore out this deal if I can.

I don't know about multiples, but certainly they keep a record of what you turn in. How long they keep it, I don't know, but I think virtually anyplace that accepts trade-ins does, to provide some trackability in case theft is suspected.
The bag has two items of fine print that could be used for you or against you based on the whim of the manager:
"Quantities are not limited"
"Trades subject to manager's approval."
Trade mine no problem, they took pretty much everything I expected them to--they paid drastically less than I expected for two items, but overall, based on what I paid for the stuff, I "made" about fifty bucks, just based on stuff I had to get rid of, plus now I have credit (for a store I don't go to often, however) instead of dvds I am not going to watch. I don't have the energy to travel all around creation to buy stuff to flip :)
Though I certainly wouldn't mind getting a PS3 "cheap" as well.
Just got back from FYE in San Fernando, CA; there are giving 25% more than the trade in prices. Tony Hawk Wii got me $27.19 credit.

go here to check trade in values: http://www.wherehouse.com/sell.jsp

then add 25%, for in-store credit.
Warning! Here comes a stupid question from a newbie. What store/site exactly is "FYE"? I live near San Fernando, CA & have never heard of FYE, yet now find out there is one very nearby.

They're part of a chain which also includes Suncoast, Coconuts, and possibly Wherehouse as well. My FYE used to be a Coconuts.
