CAGiversary!

UPDATE: Many CAGs are reporting that the trade in deal has been extended to the end of July! Be aware that this has not been confirmed and like everything else FYE does, may be very YMMV depending on the competancy of their employees.

Looks like FYE is running their "Brown Bag" trade in deal again.

Basically, anything you trade in (CD,DVD,Game) gets an automatic 20% bump, plus if you elect to get store credit, you get another 25% bump!!! Just be sure that your stuff is in good shape and complete...FYE can be very picky! And also be aware that like any other deal at FYE, this can be YMMV depending on how on the ball the staff is!

According to the brown bags, this promo runs until 7/18/07 so we all have plenty of time to exploit it!

THIS is the bag you need to look for:
amped is $59
Wait. Amped 3 for the 360 traded in for $59? I must be misunderstanding, because that's just nuts.

Where can you find that game?

Tons of luck in MA. It worked at the Square One Mall in Saugus and the one in Acton (Both of those took doubles if you showed them the reciept). Also participating without problems were the one in Chelmsford and the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH. Do not go to Everett, they claim the 20% bonus is only for cash back and the manager is quite annoying about it, and the one in Stoneham doesn't accept games. Good luck.
Where can you find that game?
If you can find it, some TRUs have it at $8.48. Not all of them, though, are marked down that far.

I have a personal copy that I was planning to keep, but that's hard to pass up.

Thanks...Its a little bit of a drive but I think I can do some nice 360 trade ins.

Even if it looks like you flipped? :whistle2:s
Wait. Amped 3 for the 360 traded in for $59? I must be misunderstanding, because that's just nuts.
I traded in Amped 3 for 360 and was given $12 before any bonus. I had a copy from TRU clearance.

those of u having trouble flipping multiple copies of stuff due to the store having too many copies, why don't you use the store credit you already have to buy the ones in stock, trade some new ones a day later and then return the ones you bought a day later? worked for me.

Amped 3 for 360 only shows up as $12 something for trade on secondspin.com, so unless that number is WAYYYYY off and it DOES trade in for $59, I'd say it's not worth it, since even after bump that's only.....$18 something, which to me, isn't that great a return on almost $9 spent. Sure, it's close to 100% bump over what you pay, but really, it's not that phenomenal of a bump.

I may hit this trade deal later today when I go to return 2 of the BOGO Blockbuster games, since I dislike the one and don't want the other one.

That is, unless someone wants to grab Sid Meier's Pirates for Xbox(no instruction manual) off me for $12.50 and shipping??
I think he meant that they still sell it for $59, or they just haven't updated tags.
I was gonna say because if that $59 price was the TRADE VALUE, I'd become a hoarder damned quick and flood my local FYE's with 6-7 copies of the game. And, if the $59 were just the base value.....oh hell.....yeah that would be quite the tidy sum indeed.

Either way, I see Enchanted Arms as dropping pretty quick REAL soon with all the activity on trade ins of it due in some part to CAG, I'm sure.

So far, none of my games fetches over $5-6 per before bonus when I searched on Secondspin.com and I'm just ASSUMING that those prices ARE spot on. If not and I open the damned games to trade in, I'm gonna be seriously pissed off since people like buying SEALED games.
Did anyone have any luck getting the 45% bump in MA?
The Strawberries downtown in Boston I got it a couple weeks back, along with Strider Turbulance. But, if you get Jake, you wait until two weeks before you return with the same game again. ;)
what games should I trade in. what will make me the most profit.
Ummmm, you could just try going back through the last couple pages and seeing which ones people are mentioning in this thread, since just asking about it is a kind of lazy tactic.

If you wanna make $$$ flipping games, you have to be willing to do some LEGWORK of your OWN first.

Might I suggest typing in games on www.secondspin.com until you find ones that you own which get more money in trade than you paid? But, you will have to take the amount listed there and use your PC's calculator to find what that amount +45% would be, so that's like work, might be a stretch.

Well.. taking the assload of credit I got from my old CD's, I drove to Birmingham to a store that still sold/traded video games. Offloaded Crackdown, some GBA & DS games, Guitar Hero II, Rayman RR for Wii, etc.. ended up with nearly another $400 in credit. I don't remember the values off the top of my head, but I only used one Enchanted Arms (bought at the Hoover CC on my way to Lakeshore Dr), one Dance Dance Universe, and Guitar Hero II alone got me $60(!).. but that's with controller. Walked out with a 60gb PS3, Blu-Ray remote, and Letters from Iwo Jima on Blu-Ray for $50 (basically tax). I'm fighting from doing some DVD slinging to get a PSP, but I've had enough of it. However, I was really meticulous in calculating what I'd get (we're talking searching SecondSpin for all of it, typing out titles onto Excel, doing the trade in boost with formulas, etc). I found SecondSpin to be 99% accurate on the games, and about 90% accurate on the CD's. So the questions for "flipping fodder" can be answered with a quick search IMO...

A side note.. I'm really surprised at the number of clearance games that were in stock at the Hoover/Birmingham CC, as well as being told at FYE that nobody had been trading in games lately (at least at that location). They said that they literally have stacks of PS3's (both 20gb and 60gb).. so if anybody is looking for new 20Gb models, they're at the Lakeshore FYE. I believe they are a $100 cheaper, but don't quote me on it.
wow :applause:
I sure am sorry, its just a question!

does secondspin.com have about the same trade in credit as F.Y.E, I would trade in enchanted arms then.

Usually, you can rely on secondspin to be fairly accurate in the trade values being spot on with brick and mortar stores, but there are a couple glaring exceptions. One of which is ONE of the Timesplitters games for PS2 I think. It lists as $15 or so on SecondSpin and Wherehouse's(another TW store chain)sites, but gets $1.00 or so in store.

And Gamer2007, most stores don't even take IN used guides anymore, not the big chains anyway. However, if you have a Half Price Books in your area, you may want to check there, though I hear they give horrendous values for trade IN's.

EDIT: Timesplitters for PS2($16.00 on SecondSpin.com for trade, $1 in store usually):

http://www.secondspin.com/games/sell-product-detail.jsp?id=1042597

Oh and before I forget, the FYE stores(and probably most of the Transworld, or TW, chain) are pretty anal retentive about condition of the games you trade in. Most will want them to be complete and won't take them in if they even have a couple tiny surface scratches. So, definitely make sure your games are in near flawless shape before trading them in.

Well my FYE finally got the 20% bags last week and in the past two days I've raked in about $400 in cred which cost me about $100 in flip fodder. Not too bad.

Sorry if this is a repost but GC Zatch Bell: Mamodo Fury pulls in $16 before any bumps. It's $9 at TRU if you can find it. Picked up a bunch for flip fodder. I've received anywhere between $25 and $27 for it in store cred depending on who is ringing me up.

I just called all around my area.....only gamestop had one copy of it I can't seem to find anymore...I'm tring to look for penny guides too!
How do you make $400 in credit?! All I got was a little over $100 bucks!
Lots of DDRU, Enchanted Arms, Rayman, Mamodo, and DVDs
What are the Cheapest Games you can Buy?! Where can I find them?
If you want to know so badly, read the thread like everyone else had to.

traded 4 seasons of OZ i got from a flea market for 25 bucks and got 60
enchanted arms still give good prices.
Def Jam availavble at BB for 30 didnt like it got 39 for it
i got 250 altogether with all my stuff they have games there b3 g 1 free so i got oblivion new, fight night r3 for ps3 used , motorstorm for ps3 used, call of duty 3 for ps3 used and resistance for ps3 used plus 2 BR movies so i had a good day. I also traded in 3 crappy 360 games to EB for VF5

Is there an official link to this info? My local store guy on the phone knew about the sale but hadn't heard about the addtl 25% for credit. Figure I'll be safe with some sort of printout.

I did SMART one!:applause:

Found a new king of the flip:

CD - Everything But the Girl: Best Of EBTG

I bought 5 of these from FYE over the weekend for $0.25 each (they were having a sidewalk sale and these were in the bins!), they trade back in for $18.11 EACH after the bump. That's over $90 in credit for $1.34!

Is this going on for every state or just yours?

saw the very first fye that has enchanted arms for $19.99 new, the one in willowbrook mall lower level in wayne, nj. don't do your trades there cause they have no clue about the 25% extra. and the one upstairs does not take trades at all. both fye's sucks at that mall.

anyways, the 2 good flips i found was

Metal Saga ($10/8 TRU) for $15
Samurai Champloo ($5 TRU) for $15

dont trade your precious rpgs. Like Grandia III was only $9 ($10 @ TRU), they didnt take my Phantasy Star Online for GC, came up as a penny. Max Payne, Siren, Arc the Lad End of Darkness was all $1 ea. Although they still have Arc the Lad EOD for $49.99, i really don't get their pricing strategy. I traded other crap as well so I ended up with $150+

Very impressive.

i'm planning on trading in a bunch of CDs, sorry if this has already been posted but are they picking about having the case and cover art? Can I just come in with the disc? What about secondspin.com, are they picky?

Thanks!

edit: nevermind found Secondspin's policy, still what about fye?

Obviously you didn't see the three posts of great games to flip on this page alone.

To contribute to this thread, there are some great things you can flip if you buy them off of Amazon.com marketplace to trade in:

Homicide: Life on the Street Season 3 is selling for $7.99 and is trading in for $19.00 pre-bonus

Homicide: Life on the Street Season 4 is selling for $9.74 and is trading in for $19.00 pre-bonus

Homicide: Life on the Street Season 7 is selling for $9.14 and is trading in for $21.50 pre-bonus

And thanks a million for this thread, Brian. I still have about 50ish CDs left to bring in, but the credit I've earned is... well, quite a bit by my standards. I added up my cards and was had to re-check my math for a moment. whee.
