CAGiversary!
ALL INFO AND DEALS FOR GAMERUSH (pm/post with any suggestions)

If your in the Oklahoma City area stop by my store at Nw 50th and MacArthur (for now). If your a flipper/scammer at least spare my store the crap titles unless its for presales...thanks. If your good I may hook up with with a special "modification" to a current deal that you may greatly enjoy...

Please note in the next few weeks I will be changing stores to Hefner and Rockwell. They needed the help and while I like my store the pay raise was justifiable and my current sm is moving to pittsburg.

Current Deals

Trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game (LAST DAY IS MAY 16!)

Beginning March 15th till May 23rd, trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.

You may be limited to 10 per day though YMMV.

Trade 2 games and get New Releases and Pre-Orders for $29.99 til September 5th (subject to change)

OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

D'oh! Replied to this and it went to never-never land...

What I said was: I certainly wasn't referring to you or athiest when I said it was deteriorating :D!

And I certainly do appreciate Cory and the one single solitary GR that I have - I try to be good to them as I don't have 11 other ones to go to if this one fails!

This thread has been invaluable to me - I would have never known the ins and outs of preordering (especially using the GR deals) if I didn't have this resource. Now I will have a steady stream of games to keep me and the boy busy all year (not that my wife is happy about it mind you!).

One REAL (I hope) question for Cory - haven't heard much about the continuation of the trade 2 for $29.99 deal (since everyone is going on about the $5 PO deal)and doubledown just got some possibly conflicting info (though probably the clerk he talked to assumed it was ending since the $5 bonus ends and the others start at the same time). As far as you know it is still a go? (I realize it might very well not go to Sept - as long as it hangs out for a few weeks after E3 I'll be happy!).

Thanks in advance Cory :D!
Abuse is abuse. Who did it "more" doesnt change the fact its wrong. Its a lot easier for Grush to keep tabs on the employees vs. the public, wouldnt you say?

And why somebody who seemingly has been suspended (by asking all these questions about it) is going to try and argue the employees are the bulk of Grush's problem is beyond me. Deflecting blame? Oh I think so.

I obviously have some idea but if nothing I am looking for was on the shelf, Im not going to assume they have it, its just behind the counter.

and

Why dont you PM him instead of cluttering the thread? As most of us ARENT suspended, this info is of no importance to us therefore doesnt need to be plastered all over a public thread.
i have not been suspended i was just asking a questiion. and i could give a rats ass who did it more, i was stating a fact i heard. so i am sorry if i offend you or made you upset, i would never want that to happen

so you mean me, considering tre fact you dont know a damn thing about me, dont question my morales

The trade deal is still going on till September far as I know. Didn't mean to vent so much earlier just I still remember last time it was really bad in this area.

We had the ebgames people telling their customers to buy their psone and take them to gamerush and how to flip. So bad in fact our DM had to talk to them about it.

It sucked for me as I would have several different people inline when I had things to do (such as clean, straighten, organize, chat with people) and these would trade in 10 ps1 games and get the new ones. it was crazy.
Uh oh... I feel this thread deteriorating a bit...

I just want to hear the stories about how/why (specifically) people have had their accounts closed - strictly for the entertainment value, ala the "Employees of ALL stores - Stories about 'special' customers" thread in the Deal/Shopping Discussions forum. I bet there's been some real bonehead moves on the parts of some flippers (like trying to bring back 5 games they just bought the same day to the same clerk, etc).

I'm pretty much done trading until new preorders get added the the system anyway, so hopefully reading these stories will tide me over :D. It certainly seems like everyone else is in a holding pattern anyway (judging by the lack of posted trade values recently). I don't have much interest in the $5 PO sale since I have just about all the new or relatively new games I can handle now! (Though if a used Star Wars III for DS shows up I'm all over that).
Nah. I think people are letting out a little steam. If you notice, with the talk of the new deals and next generation consoles, people are getting more brash and annoying in thier flaunting of the holes in the rules, and then copping an attitude when people call them on it. There's usually a level of reason with these things. If someone builds up a few hundred dollars credit off of about a 100 dollar expenditure, that's not too unreasonable. When you have people talking about financing the purchases of a new console, a portion of the launch lineup, and perhaps a handheld or another console off of an initial 50 dollar outlay, you're really pushing the boundaries of reason.

^^ Agreed. It always seem to get ugliest around new console time. The DS was bad, the PSP was worse, the 360 (if flipable deals exist) will be nightmarish. Im sure we'll see at least 3-5 braggers saying they scored $500+ off of Grush. If thats your great contribution to the world, please feel free to check out now.

Thanks, Cory. I missed out on the whole PS1 trade-in frenzy but I've seen plenty of references to it here. I've just been glad they take GBA games for the deals!

I went into my GR tonight after seeing a movie and there were 4 employees working, including the new manager. I've been asking this week to see the MAP to see their preorder list (since they showed it to me a few weeks ago when I asked about preorders). They haven't gotten one in 2 weeks, and have no idea when it will come in. For the first time, I heard them mention their "District Leader" (who is the one not sending them their MAPs), so I guess my GR is attached to a district, though it must be an outlier in that district (the manager a few months ago said they never get to attend meetings with other GR's).

They also have NO knowledge whatsoever of any of the deals mentioned here. I told them of the 3 for $5 PO deal and they thought that was great, but had not heard a thing about it! So we'll see come Tuesday what they know about it. I browsed (yes, some of us do browse the used section!) through the used games and there isn't a thing I'd get with the deal anyway, but I'd like to know if they have it so I can keep checking back. What I want to know now is if regular blockbusters will have either the 5 for $25 or trade 3 for $5 PO deals? My local BB actually has a better selection of higher-priced used games than GR does.

Shipwreck (and others in the Dayton-Cincinnati area), I was able to double dip in the Middletown store. The employee actually encouraged it.

I came in with games in hand and he saw that and asked me if I brought 3 or more, because I could get $5 more for each game and a new game for $30. Pretty sweet.

Now for trade-in values, after $5 bonus where applicable.

Xbox:
Power Drome - $16
Future Tactics - $5.75 (still got the $5 bonus on this one for some reason)
New Legends - $8
Amped - $6.50
Group S Challenge - $12

PS2:
Extermination - $1 (no bonus)
Power Drome - $12

As for double-dipping it actually in most ways isn't much of a loss to Blockbuster.

Quite a bit of the Blockbuster clientel is really big on the cheapo games. Say you take the lowest price Blockbuster will give for the extra $5 which is $6.99. Times that by 3 you get $21 (roughly). Then take the $50 for a new game minus the $21 you get none other than $29. Blockbuster will have paid $6.50 for credit on each of those games.

Take that time 3 and blockbuster paid $19.50 for 3 games (in credit).

$21 - $19.50 = $1.50.

So if my math is correct (and remember I'm taking a remedial algebra this summer for college) Blockbuster may still be okay. Nothing profitable but nothing at a loss either.

Granted some of the games will be more credit but the margin increases on the credit difference.

Blockbuster sells it at $7.99 the only paid $6.50. Blockbuster sells it at $9.99 the only paid $8. Blockbuster sells it at $12.99 they only paid $10.

It gradually increases. Also many people choose to leave their credit on the account or lock it up in preorders.

This keeps people coming back. Many of the people that come in to buy the cheap games also get a coke or rent a movie and will end up paying for that in cash. Same with other people who are just doing the deal for the deal itself.

So really double dipping...in most cases (ie not exchanging it for $50 credit...etc) isn't as bad as most would think.
