- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

He's right ya know. And should I get SotC for $26.50 at GR? I've got $8 in credit there, but I'm not sure if I will like it. I liked ICO, but I played the demo for SotC and couldn't get over how bad the control was. Is it better in the full game? Thanks.

awesome, things like this keep making me want to shop at blockbuster more and more. I was just going by what I read on the gamerush website. It's not like I get the memos they send out to each individual blockbuster.

oh, and just for all those people buying a 360 at gamerush. You get a 5 dollar gift card when you buy 50 dollars in gift cards. So if you still have 300 left to pay for you could always buy 300 bucks in gift cards and 30 bucks free in gift cards.

Traded in some PSP games to put towards 360 games. Here is what they gave me approx:

Madden: $27
Burnout: $27
Dynasty Warriors: $27 (WOW!)
Need for Speed Underground: $24
Coded Arms: $19
THUG 2: $19

Can you buy Gift Cards with Value Cards?
I have around $250 on my VAlue Card.....

I like to see those PSP games worth that much....especially since Target has them on clearance (some do at least)

You can buy them, but according to the fine print of the gift card offer, purchases with credit and value cards don't count. I didn't bother pushing for it, but I received no free gift cards with my purchase of $160 gift cards.

If I'm wrong, I will certainly strongly consider going back to get my free gift cards. I think I bought $100 once and $60 the second time... so in theory I should get $15 free.

I don't really know anything about it, I just noticed the big sign on the window when I was trading stuff in.

You can do it, and they should give you the gift cards. I've done it before. I had $100 in trade in credit and put it on two $50 gift cards. At the time, for each $50 gift card you bought, you recieved an extra $5 gift card.

Also traded in FarCry today and got $27.

Then I will be heading over to BB this week to return my Battalion Wars rental and get me some more gift cards.

Is this BB and not gamerush? I'm thinking about trading mine in but I don't have any game rush stores and sometimes the values vary a little.

Here's what I got game wise from trading today...

Darkwatch $27
Farcry Instincts $27
Devil May Cry 3 $24
SVC Chaos $16

And with some movies, I got enough to get ready to buy a DS (may wait for the Mario Kart Bundle).

If anyone pre-ordered Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness, do not pick it up as it is absolutely horrible. I will find out how much it is worth in trade-in tomorrow, because this thing is going back. Hopefully it will be worth $30-$35 next week so I will at least break even on it.

First off let me apologize because when i read your first post it seemed as if you meant it like we HAVE to give you the xbox 360 games for 49.99 and i guess i perceived this to the wrong way. But just in case you did mean it that way who cares if you shop at Blockbuster or not surely not me because regardless if you show up or not i still get paid by the hour every two weeks.

First off i dont mean this negatively, but it depends on when you bought the giftcards because we didnt start running the promotion until Nov. 1 so if you bought the giftcards before that then no you might not get them. You can always try the District Manager as the store staff will probably just pull out the paperwork that says the promotion started on the 1st not before hand, plus they cant just be crediting off free gift cards. However the District Manager is more concerned about having you keep returning to Blockbuster/ Game Rush and spending money than the store staff so if the days are close together from when you bought the gift cards and when the promotion started he/she may just give in.

Didn't want to deal with trying to trade my last copy of D2R2 in at GR after some of the reports. Just took it to the Movie Trading Company and received $20.25 in store credit for the game. They also offered $13 cash, but I took the credit. They are owned by Blockbuster, but only have 35 stores located in GA(5), CO(5), TX(20), and UT(5).
Is this BB and not gamerush? I'm thinking about trading mine in but I don't have any game rush stores and sometimes the values vary a little.
Yes, it's Blockbuster. I'm almost positive the trade in values are always the same though. Everytime I've seen a trade in price listed in one of these threads, and I've gone to Blockbuster to trade it in, the prices have been the same.

Eh, I'll give it a shot. I got the email on October 26, and it didn't indicate any starting date. Terms on the link only say it ends in January. Just bought them on Saturday or Sunday, so we'll see.
meaning Gamerush can preorder it now? if so ill go cancel my Preorder at Gamestop for it
If you are talking about Magna Carta, GR has it in the system, but they will NEVER recieve it (Altus game). I never got my SMT: DDS2 and only after I complained did they give me back my money, they made me wait 3 weeks until that point...

I suggest that if you want to give magna carta a shot preorder it somewhere else too. Because I can either assure you that blockbuster will either get it 3 weeks late or not at all. I preordered a copy at gamerush and gamespot. This way I'll pick up my gamespot copy the day it comes out and if gamerush ever gets it in I'll just take the unopened copy from GR to gamespot and get my money back.

Glad I canceled it the game is horrible one of the worst I played all year.

Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness (Xbox) gets $27 in trade. I'm going to wait until next Tuesday and see if it at least goes up to $30.

I traded in soul calibur III for 30

I also checked on guitar hero, it's not in the system so it looks like they won't be getting it. So even though I'm crazy for amplitude it looks like I'm gonna have to wait for a price drop or else buy something at gamerush and do a no receipt return to wal-mart.

This is generally true, but there are exceptions. A few weeks ago Xenosaga II was getting $6 at regular BB's and $12.50 at GR. Then a few days later it dropped to $6 at GR. Also, DTR2 for Xbox was getting $24 at regular BB's and $27 at GR, then it dropped to $20 at both places.

Guitar Hero is YMMV then because my gamerush got it in...

Looks like GAMERUSH.com updated the website. It appears they have the $29.99 for NEW games when you trade in 2 (the pre-order deal is gone :( that would be REALLY sad) I was there today and they still had the signage up...but I better trade SOON.

*EDIT*
Nevermind, it still says PRE-ORDER (they just have outdated games)

Looks like Star Wars BF2 is getting $35 also (for those who don't like it)

it's ironic how GR updated the look of their website, but they didn't update the info on the deals. d'oh!

kinda funny though where their first page has something like

Cheap Thrill.. all used game get 25% more.....

and they have Dead to RightII featured in one of those games..... , that's how I felt.. when I traded in my DTRII.. cheap thrill... hehe

Sadly no free gift cards to supplement my $160 purchase last week. Any chance you can buy gift cards with gift cards, and I'll just repurchase all my gift cards? Or even return them if possible.

It might work... but they'll probably just deny you since that doesn't make any sense at all....

Haha, of course it doesn't make sense, but neither does them sending out an email advertising a promotion that starts a week later, but indicating no start time in the ad or in the fine print.

What's this you speak of?

I just checked all over the GR site - I don't see the preorder deal at all any more (nor any new game deal).

Nintendo just announced some American release dates for a couple of obscure titles that have been discussed here before:

1) Chibi Robo, which is in the GR system, is being released Feb 6th, 2006 (so please change this in the preorder list). I'm kind of relieved because that was one of about 8 games I had coming on Nov. 14th-16th according to my preorder list. Don't mind seeing it pushed back a bit.

2) Odama, which last I checked was NOT in the GR system, is being released March 6th, 2006.

As soon as Odama is in I plan to preorder it - sounds interesting and strange.

On a positive note, I actually completed one of my GR preordered games (Radiata Stories) the other day, right on the heels of completing Sly 3 (also from GR) with my son. Now I'm spending all my time on SW BFII. On the negative side, I still have to crack open Shadow of Colossus, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Jak X, and Ratchet Deadlocked (which they haven't gotten in yet!) - and I've got several more games coming in the next 2 weeks :D.

Edit - Oh yeah, I haven't opened Psychonauts yet either, and I need to submit a PriceGrabber review this month for it :D.

Ditto, I'm intrigued by that one. It even uses the microphone, I think. As far as finishing games... oy... if I can avoid working till 8 or 9 every night sometime soon, I might be able to start playing Fire Emblem again. Great game based on the first 5-10 chapters, however far I've made it so far.

Speaking of release dates, is there any solid date for Super Mario Strikers? It was originally coming out next week with Mario Party 7, but EB lists it back to 12/5 now, I believe.

If you're worried this post will never end or stop being edited, good. Per the link above:

Limit two (2) copies per title per day. And five (5) copies per title in any consecutive 90-day period.
Looks like they may have successfully stopped the D2R2 bug with this new trade clause. That was a serious rush job, they didn't even bother grammar checking it.

Yeah, but that is for used game purchases using the 25% off deal (there is also the max purchase of 20 per day :D). They still only have the 2 per day of one title limit on trade-ins (the top paragraph). They do reserve the right to limit certain games with no advance warning, which is perfectly fine (just don't BAN the people who TRY to trade those in - simply reject the trades!). Why they would limit the purchases to 5 in 90 days but not trade-ins is beyond me though...

I wasn't aware of the Super Mario Strikers change. GR has Mario Party 7 coming out on Nov. 11th on their web site - but of course, that is the typical Friday response - it still should be out Tues/Weds. Hmm - haven't seen this before, but EB has a Mario Party 7 Gamecube bundle for $99.99 - great deal on a GC if someone needs one (GR will probably have it too). Yeah, EB bumped Strikers out to Dec. Again, that is fine with me as I have so many games coming in mid-Nov. I wonder if some of the DS releases from that week (Sonic Rush, Viewtiful Joe, Mario Kart) will get bumped?

I'm having my first GR preorder regret - looks like Suikoden Tactics isn't that great, and it is coming next week. Wonder if I can get that switched premptively...
