Gears of War 3 - Release Date Sept. 20

They haven't gone into further detail on the DLC characters. I know Bernie and Onyx Guard are bundled in the November DLC, but the content list is nowhere to be found.
 
Damn do not put any input on the Epic forums on how expensive the weapons skins are, just got a perma ban for explaining what 3600 msp could actually get you (ie. 4x 800 point arcade games and such) and how $45 is price gouging for something that is already on the disk and should be included in the game. haha I really don't care though, Thinking about just canceling this all together now and waiting for BF3.

On second thought I am still getting Gears 3 totally forgot of my $20 GC from amazon that I am just going to apply to BF3.

LOL. Typical. Pretty convenient the fanboy threads filled with pic spam are left untouched though. Ah well... doesn't matter in the end. Another year of blatant casual gamer pandering in the industry and I'll probably throw in the towel. Tired of getting thoroughly screwed in the end for supporting games I enjoy because I'm educated enough to make an informed decision and call bullshit out when I see it.

On another note, I really didn't think it was possible for Epic to screw up the Seriously achievement worse than they did with Gears 2. Somehow they managed to do it. 100,000 kills was bad enough, but some of the requirements for Onyx medals in this game are ridiculous. I can't fathom how anyone, even the biggest of diehards, will get some of this stuff.

For example, a couple of them I've seen:

Kill your nemesis 6,000 times. For someone to be your nemesis, you have to have gotten killed by them 5 times. So you have to die 30,000 times minimum to get this.

Play 3,000 matches of each gametype. 18,000 matches total. Don't like wingman? Too bad!

Seriously in Gears 1 was such a great achievement. Plenty of shooters afterwards copied it. It took time, effort, and was satisfying when you got it. Now, it's just stupid.
 
I wasn't planning on going for Seriously 3.0 because skipped that entire achievement series in the last two games. The Nemesis requirement is especially funny as only the inexperience would be cool with dying that much. Tch, people still have the nerve to think I'm paranoid for not expecting necessary nerfs in the future to further accommodate their kind. The article is a whole other beast in itself that doesn't cut them any slack as to who is truly responsible for reaming us on DLC. Arrogant much? Judging from the whopping 92 average on Metacritic I don't think a few 8 out of 10 scores will affect them that much.

A joke? Perfect way to describe the last few weeks leading up to launch. I'm sure we're only a few posts of away from a shining beacon of light casual or fanboy to let us know how unreasonable we are for continuously bashing Epic. Everytime I chill out more bullshit reports come in that make me feel stupid for buying this game new.

Preordered the game on amazon finally. I can't wait to have it. Here's to having fun playing the game on Tuesday without having to spend the last few months crying about how it wont be perfect. 8)

The cable is actually useful to transfer saves over to your PC from your 360 hard drive.
 
anyone want to get some achievements in Gears 1, mainly "Don't hate the player"? Can also try to go for some kill achievements as well as the host 50 matches one. These also help with the win on x map and seriously achievements as well.

Now, it's just stupid.[/QUOTE]On the Cliffy B quote, it seems to me that he's more focused on the point that Gears 3 got a lower score from them than Gears 2 did, which is more of a function over scoring Gears 2 too high for its own good based on the assumption mp would be fixed. In fact, Destructoid also gave 2 a 90 and 3 an 80. Looking at metacritic, Gears 2 has a 93 score while Gears 3 has a 91 so far. I can understand working really hard to improve a sequel to be much better than the previous and being dissappointed when your review doesn't reflect an increase in quality, but he has to realize that Gears 2 was no "93". I love the game, the campaign and horde mode, but mp is virtually unplayable. I thought improving my internet connection would help when I upgraded from 1.5 to 6, but it's just as bad.

Much like Seriously and Seriously 2.0, I have little doubt I will not achieve Seriously 3. Some of those Onyx medals I won't come close to. 3000 matches of EACH type. And not that it's much different, but what if you kill your nemesis 5 times in a match. It's just someone who kills you five times, not 5 times more or 5 times without you killing them right?
 
iFlak is going to upload a gun skin catalog hopefully soon. Where you will be able to see all the gun skins before you buy them. Too bad they didnt just have previews IN GAME if they intended on us paying for them. Would have been nice.

Also the team update was released last night. So you wont lose any gun skins now, but it might corrupt your campaign checkpoint. But all you have to do is load up the last chapter you were on, in case anyone was playing the game early.
 
How does the BestBuy preorder DLC skin work (Mechanic Baird)?

Can I go to Bestbuy today and put $5 down and they give me DLC code?
Do they still place the DLC cases in the empty preorder boxes?

Most places have a 14-30 day return policy. I bought the cable, used it, then returned it two days later. I know Best Buy allows you to return them opened as long as you still have everything that came with it originally.

With BB, you'll probably get a printed card that comes in the game box when you pick it up, not printed on the receipt or in the preorder box.

I like how everyone is complaining about DLC being a "rip off" yet a lot of people will buy it anyways. If it's not worth your money then don't buy it.

Preaching to the choir. People are complaining about it as if Epic is tacking an extra $45 onto the price of the game, but the skins are OPTIONAL purchases. I'm not getting the hate...
 
LOL Liquid metal looks like Ocean and Onyx I think except Liquid Metal looks better, these are REALLY not worth the money. The chrome or whatever it is look exactly like the regular skin of the gnasher, ridiculous.
 
$45 for roughly the equivalent of what was free if you put the effort into it in Call of Duty since number 4.

I wasn't the biggest Gears fan before, but this kind of thing turns me off. I know it's optional. So is my purchase of the game.
 
I think it's funny how people are trying to defend epic for them charging $45 for all the skins. Heck, even charging for weapon skins period. You get those free in black ops, but to each their own. No need to pay for them, i'll have some to unlock in gears of war 3 plus for having gears 1 on pc and other achievements. At least it's optional.

Kind of reminds me of people who pay for avatar items. You could unlock and get some free from within some games instead of paying for them but hey it's your choice.

Technically in Black Ops you had to use CoD points to buy them :p I actually liked MW2 over Black Ops. Even though MW2 had that huge falling out with IW and basically caused them to not support the game anymore I actually enjoyed unlocking my camo through challenges and such. I know it promotes boosting but it was quite rewarding when bam! I had X amount of head shots and I unlocked X camo compared to Black Ops buying whatever color you wanted. I just wished Epic would of left them as unlocks through challenges much more rewarding then just outright buying them.

PS. Don't say anything bad about epic on there forums you get instant perma ban. haha. I was voicing my opinion on how 3600 is ridiculous price for something that is just a "skin" and how I could buy three 1200 MSP arcade games for that price.
 
I just started playing Gears 2 again today after awhile and my rank got reset back to 1 =/ Will I still get the veteran rewards in 3 since I still have the achievement?

Lesson learned here? Can't please everyone. I'm with you though, it's more rewarding to get 100 headshots and get a reward as opposed to a bunch of points.
 
Sweet Jesus does Gold Omen scream some middle school student's idea of cool. Pretty embarrassing. I would have preferred an achievement or customized emblem for the weapon skin upon reaching 100. Distressed, Pulse, Active Camo and Flower are the only skins I'd go out of my way to unlock so I feel even more content on skipping them all. Kind of wish I hadn't missed out on Infected Omen because it's starting to grow on me a little.

Tomorrow will mark the last night I'm forced to fall asleep without Gears 3. Still a little hyped because it's Gears and all, but that's about it. ;\
 
Watched the videos a few times now, a lot of them are really similar except with different names, the desert camos are pretty much the same, the Imulsion one is basically an animated desert camo with next to no animation, the oil slick, onyx, liquid metal, haze and ocean are nearly identical, the solid team color ones are lame, and the thunderstorm/lightning ones are too subtle in my opinion.

One thing Halo Reach got right were the armor effects, they didn't stick out really bad yet subtle enough to still be noticeable, I was expecting thunderstorm and/or lightning to be similar to the armor effect in Reach, but it's barely noticeable on either skin.

The Locust skins look very cool though.

I'd probably just end up rocking Liquid Metal still if I buy the season pass and go for Liquid Green whenever they announce how to get it. They didn't already announce it did they?
 
Zero announcement on the contest for Green LM, Season Pass contents and character skin price. Very annoying. I'm not going to sit on these excess points for much longer when there's plenty of DLC available for other games.
