Gears of War 3 - Release Date Sept. 20

Its already been confirmed that its not for a limited time, so you can wait a while. Besides the first DLC isnt until November, though i believe you would get the liquid silver weapon skins when you buy the pass. Im also using bing rewards to get the last 400 ms points i need for the season pass. Im 357 points away from getting more points. So probably get em in 30 days or less.

Awesome, thanks for that. Bing Rewards FTW, haven't bought MSP in a year!

I'm less concerned about the liquid weapon skins than I am about the actual maps/campaign content, so if the first round of DLC isn't until November, then I'll just wait to get it until I have enough Bing points.

Can't wait to play on Xbox Live again. I just dropped some serious cash to get the 2011 Astro A40 headset to replace my currently non-existing headset :p.
 
Hammerburst = long-range
Lancer = mid-range
Retro Lancer = close-range

Each rifle excells at their respective ranges. It's not that hard to wrap your head around. Why do people want the Retro Lancer to be as strong/broken as the Beta Retro Lancer? The point of the beta was to discover what needed to be fixed (nerfed) before the retail release. Idiots...

The people getting raped in that vid clearly fall into one of the following categories:

New to the Beta at the time
Never used the Retro
Bad
Stupid


I was doing the same exact shit in the beta with that gun. Why? Cuz why not? It raped. Then I got tired of it and switched to the HB and raped with that, the difference was that I changed my play style depending on the gun I used.

If I had to guess I'd say most if not all the people dying in the vid were really bad because most tried to stand with this dude, those that weren't as good at hip fire strafing died while they used the retro and the others that weren't using the retro died because they though they had a chance heads up with him.

I'm personally glad they nerfed it because the majority of my deaths in the beta were from people strafe firing the retro, now that that's been taken care of I don't see why anyone has any excuse to say something is unbalanced or overpowered.

I wish there were more videos of multiplayer, MW3 has a shit ton now in a short period of time cuz of their XP event and I don't really like COD.......cant wait for the 20th though.
 
As with any MP game there are guns that people cannot use well so they complain, or its a commonly used gun and they complain, or they just plain suck and get killed by everything and complain about every weapon. Personally I think the Gears 3 beta was quite balanced, especially considering it was a beta and I'm sure things will only be better when it comes out.
 
I think im going to have my own Gears weekend Sept 16-19 replaying the story in Gears 1, then Gears 2. Hopefully that is enough time to get through them, ill have all day during that time to play so that isnt a problem. Im not even sure ill get the game on Sept 20th, because i ordered them online (bestbuy & walmart). Hopefully ill get it on release day or very soon after.
 
I woke up this morning just so fed up already because Gears isn't out.

I took some PTO for the 20th and the 23rd to play all day on those days. Gonna be on at midnight of the 20th.

Can't believe it's almost here, a week and a half.............

I think you'll be surprised how quickly you can race through Gears of War, even on Insane mode...even solo. 1 day should be plenty of time.

When the game first released I thought it was short. But especially now I'm amazed how short the campaign was, though still well received.

Also, anyone else who is planning on playing through the campaigns before the release of Gears of War 3, please attempt to host or join a cooperative campaign play through if you do. I've gone back to Gears of War sporadically during the summer, and people are still playing the campaign, some of whom are stuck and need help beating chapters or entire acts. You'd be doing someone a favor, while also getting refreshed on the story.

I need Chrome Lancer, never really played Gears 1 MP too much. Can that be done with friends? I wont get Chrome Sawed-Off since my PC cant handle the game. :( All the rest i have or will eventually have.

Seriously, just play the ranked multiplayer. "Don't Hate the Player" is not a difficult achievement to get.

If you really need help getting it, just host the match. The connection advantage you get should allow you to get the most kills, and thus the most points. Plus, most people quit out of games when they start to lose, usually meaning the opposing team you're hosting, so they'll either be overwhelmed by your team numbers, or they'll just quit out and the game will end early, with you hopefully having the most points.
 
Can someone speak to how matchmaking works in Gears 3?

I always liked multiplayer in Gears 1 more than 2 for the simple reason that you could join a game and just keep playing as it rotated maps. You could, potentially, go hours never seeing a lobby screen if you played player matches. Gears 2 wasted a hell of a lot of time in lobby screens between each match which quickly grew old. I actually had 2 friends that were die-hard Gears 1 players refuse to play Gears 2 for this.

Its pretty much the same way as 2.

The only thing I won't have is Chrome Retro, never did Co Op in Gears 1.

I wonder how many people will go out and try and get a new unused copy of Gears 1 for the PC just to get the skin, I'm a little upset I gave my copy away but I have 4 achievements from it so w/e.
 
I assume you'd have to register your copy online somewhere so the reward would transfer to your Xbox? If so, I'm pretty tempted to try to run it on this relic of a computer. Since this is the end of the trilogy there's a lot of incentive for me to collect as much as possible.

you can buy it new on the xbox live (pc) market for $20 for the pc. I got a copy off of amazon for $5.99 free shipping. got it to run so I have 2 achievements. plus it came with a 1mo xbox live code. so not bad

It's a games for windows live game so you sign in with your XBL email and it's literally the same as XBL. You'd use your same exact XBL account and you register the serial through G4WL.

Just make sure to register/sign on with your XBL email and not a burner email because the achievements will be tied to that email.
 
I was pretty hyped for this game until today. I went out and got the Limited Edition controller. Now that it's in my hands, I'm fucking batshit crazy hyped! I'm about to pull a Cartman and freeze myself until the 20th.
 
FYI, Gears of War 1 for PC is $19.99 for the download from the Games for Windows Marketplace. Cheaper than the ridiculous prices sellers are charging for new on the Amazon marketplace.

Could always get a group of friends and boost the Gears 1 MP achievements. I was on Epic forum boards a lot of people making threads about creating groups to boost the MP achievements from Gears 1. I definitely would be down for some Gears 1 MP achievements but not until I get my Veteran Gears achievement! Feel free to add me GT: Taniwha, So close! Well not really at level 40. haha.

I'm in the same boat for chrome lancer. I don't even own Gears 1 anymore. Well, I have the PC version. I wonder if it checks there as well for the chrome lancer achievement?
 
I don't even care about not having some of the DLC, I'm sure I might once the game is in my hands but man I can't believe I have to wait 1 more whole week and all I have to do to kill time is work and study and finish Deus Ex and crush noobs in Halo Wars...............

I was also hoping the Chrome Sawed off would be more of an "exclusive" since relatively speaking not a whole lot of people know about Gears for the PC nor do most console gamers have a gaming PC, but now everyone knows that there's a skin for Gears PC achievements. That's one way to spur your sales for extremely out dated products.
 
I had a used copy of Gears 1 in my Amazon queue last night. Already to buy it to go after that chrome lancer. Then I slapped myself into reality that I don't really need a chrome lancer in a videogame. :)

I am still thinking about walking over to Best Buy during lunch to see what they are charging for used copies of Gears 1. :D

If they have them they'll probably be $10 but the website says $7, the Gears triple pack is $30 at BB.
 
MS is hosting a GoW3 review event today for gaming press in San Francisco, which I'm attending. I was told I'd get an interview slot with Cliffy. Anyone got any questions you'd like me to ask him?

Is it just me or did they give Sam more of a tan colored skin? She used to be white, but now she always looks dark tan. Her picture even changed from what i can tell in that new video.

Unlocking Superstar cole might take some time. Wonder how many kids will want to boost to unlock him LOL.

Those are good questions. He will dodge the first though.

I'd love to ask him why they won't bring back the eternal player match like Gears 1 had, but maybe I'm in a minority of people that loved that. Lobbys suck.
