Sweet. I've honestly grown tired of spewing out disclaimers for every new invite I accept. Usually when people join parties unannounced they assume the worst from minor slang then say something real slick or stupid. I let them know straight up I'll only vouch for you once, but you police yourself. You run your mouth or get kicked I can't help you.

Like I said before in the past though we don't care THAT much about skill level so long as you're honest about it. We're a mad chill bunch. We'll carry you. Again... just act civil and we're straight.

That flag is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. If they cover for the standard edition wasn't so ugly, I would just switch my LE reservation to that.
 
No skin off my back. Green is one of my least favorite colors anyway and I've got a feeling the contest will involve tweeting or scavenger hunting of some irritating sort.

You can check to see if your Best Buy is doing a Midnight Opening for the game by mousing over the icon here.

No word on what, if any, bonus will be available at their Midnight Madness. It's already been stated that it won't be a DLC or any sort, as they don't want the fiasco of the gold weapons skins from Gears of War 2 going for insane prices on ebay. Instead, it's rumored to be physical content, like a shirt or other memorabilia. Hopefully more details will arrive before the start of next week.

Amen. Seems crystal clear to me only Onyx and Gold Omen will be worth a damn in this game. Everything else screams "I got money to burn", "I bought at launch" or "I got into an XP event just in the nick of time!" Meh. I wish they hadn't wasted all the in-game unlocks on a million character skin variants of Delta Squad and asinine medals just to ream us for DLC, but it is what it is. I have half a mind to troll with a flame shotty and Gold Retro until both sets are predictably up for grabs in a future map pack.
 
I really wouldn't wanna deal with the mongloids that go to BestBuy at midnight much less Gamestop, in my past experiences with midnight releases, WalMart is where its at as far as having the least hassle and getting in and out.
 
Yeah im kind of disappointed in the whole Vetran Gear business. Rod first talked about how awesome the reward was and how you would be mad to miss out on it if you didnt get your wings. But it ends up being gold weapon skins for all 5 weapons, that you can get in other ways. (with the exception of gold gnasher) I mean you get 2 of the 5 gold skins just for playing the game in the first week after release! Not to mention they are whoring out the XP to anyone and everyone. Just really disappointed that someone like me who spent months of time to get to rank 100, means nothing really. The most XP event i had was 6x i believe, before i got my wings, then they started all the 20x 30x events every no and then. Vet Gears doesnt mean anything much anymore.

I completely agree, losing more and more respect for Epic as we get closer to launch, can't believe they were the ones who created the first Unreal.

We're all gonna get the game without a doubt but now it's like, I don't know, I feel a little less excited with all the hand out bullshit going on, what's the point of having unlocks anymore? Just have everything unlocked as it is when we put the game in for the first time at this point.

A lot of people invested so much time into the first 2 games, for one because we are fans and enjoyed the franchise and two to hopefully get rewarded on the 20th. It sounds stupid to complain about because it's a video game but it's just like any other product on the market.

Pretty much hence why I'm breaking out my Gold Gnasher for couple games then permanently retiring it. I didn't put up with three years of agonizing bullshit just to have my "reward" shared with every Tom, Dick and Harry who happens to pass by in hopes they stick with the game. We all know they'll quit multiplayer within a month and blame it on the Gnasher. Then what's left of them will probably bitch on the forums for a tweak inviting the regulars to ream them out thoroughly. Judging from the current flow of events I bet good money Epic will cave for them regardless.

If they don't then it's a win-win situation for the rest of us. Less players means less stress on the servers and less lag/host advantage overall.

Really want the deadly cute package, but I know everyone and there mom is probably going to want o kill people with pink gnashers. Not sure what skins I am going to use now. Maybe flaming? Kinda kicking myself in the nuts right now for not entering my Gears 3 controller code ASAP.
 
I'd go with Flaming or Chrome. The first week is probably going to be nothing but all gold and paid weapon skins with the occasional omen. They should have made VG gold unlocks completely exclusive with Deadly Cute trading spots with week one Gold Ham & Lancer IMO. I still can't believe we have to pay for that skin out of the entire selection. It's Pink for christ sakes. I mean I can anyone seriously recall an early mp screenshot or trailer where they weren't shoving that color down our throats? Geez.
 
Going to need to find more people who actually play Gears haha. My entire FL is all from CoD : /. No one I know are picking up Gears besides my brothers.

I think only Onyx will be the real weapon skin that shows dedication, since you can only unlock it through kills in competitive play (for now). It's only a matter of time before they start bonus XP weekends for Gears of War 3, though. This is especially true when Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 release soon, just like Halo: Reach had to do last year, in a last try to keep some of the online community.

And I'm really disappointed by how weak the Chrome skins even are. Legacy unlocks sounded promising, until you saw the simple achievements they needed. The Chrome Retro Lancer wasn't even for playing as Dom in the entire Campaign of Gears of War, only for playing in 10 chapters. And the Chrome Lancer just led to people boosting to unlock "Don't Hate the Player," rather than actually earning it.

But the most insulting is the Chrome Sawed Off. Not only is it the only unlock for Gears of War PC, but it's for a gun that most people who have played the series will use least. I don't have Gears of War PC, and even I thought they should've had their own weapon skin set. I want the weapons and character skins to tell me your story as a player, not be basic unlocks for everyone. That's the whole point of legacy unlocks; you reward those who stuck with the series, not to anyone who puts the disc in their tray.

I'll use my Flaming Hammerburst and Gold Gnasher, as they're the rarer skins I've earned. By the time I finish with the Gnasher, I should hopefully have Windows # whatever on my Mac to play Gears of War PC, and then use the Chrome Sawed Off to work towards Seriously 3.0. I can only hope Flaming Weapon Skins and Thrashball Cole stay Beta Exclusive.
And as for the Midnight Release, I'd rather not go, as I really expect it to be filled with people I wouldn't want to be around for half-an-hour, but if they're giving away things like shirts, or even a giftcard like Best Buy did with Madden 12, then it might be worth it. I have it pre-ordered at Best Buy and GameStop, though, so I'm debating which of the two is better to go to.

Of course once the complainers realize the gun functions as intended they will return to blaming the Gnasher for their shortcomings. :roll:

My take on the whole weapon skin/unlock/veteran gear situation is this: I got my GoW2 wings before I even knew what the Gears 3 reward for it would be. I don't really care that there are other ways to unlock the Veteran Gear skins in Gears 3. It's just a paint job for your gun, so it doesn't remotely affect gameplay. Really, what's the point?

I suppose they're a cool way to show of your skills by unlocking the skins, but we also have ribbons, nicknames, and achievements for that too.

I played Gears 2 to get my wings for fun and to show my dedication (and mastery) of the game, not for some carrot on a string. Gears 2 had ONE alternate weapon skin for two of the weapons, and nobody complained about it.

werd I'll still be maining the retro as well. Loved that weapon. Epic forums is terrible I only visit the GOW 1 section or GOW 2. GOW 3 is nothing but fucking bitching. Last thread I saw was some guy complaining why aren't there lights on the gnasher but on every other weapon?
 
LOL. I can't say I'm surprised. I found the light addition to the Sawed-off equally moronic, but won't affect me in the slightest. I'll still switch to rifles or flank when zoned out. Did you notice they seemingly toned down the hard aim recoil in that video? Just caught on to that. Oh yeah... definitely going to be quite a few nerf petitions in Oct. ;(

Well when you hard aim an enemy you click the right analog stick to mark them. Should they die while marked you score assist points from the kill. Pretty awesome they chose to borrow the mechanic from the series. It came in handy a lot in the beta speeding up otherwise campy or slow finishes.
 
Actually you click the LS in, not the right. But like ink.so.well said, you have to be aiming down the sights, have your reticle on them, then press the LS in. I agree its a great feature.

Gunn: Yeah the XBL community as a whole is responsible for that. I always play without a mic by myself and still can't seem to avoid receiving random hate mail from a game's MP top 100. Hell... I had a guy threaten to report me yesterday for modding in Dead Space 2 MP because he knew next to nothing about the game mechanics. Unnecessary stress man.

I wish you could specifically block incoming text and voice messages from randoms without auto-muting them in game chat. Because of that I have to use the block feature after I receive/repond to a retarded message. I've never been one to shy away from trash talking but I honestly don't play Bioshock 2 or DS2 multiplayer competitively. I do it to chill the f*ck out. Not for you to overcompensate for whatever social or physical defect urged you to rub your dick all over my profile.
 
I wish I had the ability to at the moment turn off message sending. I send nasty shit to people who skip story mode/non ranked mode and just play ranked and either quit or glitch off the map. I always feel bad when I send the messages but I continue to do so.

Yeah I know I'm an asshole but I only do it to glitchers and people that quit on GOW1 -- I won't care as much in GOW 3 because of bots.

I'm actually striving for hate mail in Gears 3 because of GoW 2 host bridging clans who know my gamer tag by heart. I want them to know exactly what I knew back then - they suck at this game. Random hate in every other franchise though when I'm not a try hard... not so much.
