GOG Deals Thread

Jack Keane wasn't the only anchor in the Insomnia sale.   Towards the end, every third game was taking 4-5 hours to sell out.  I learned to sleep inbetween stinkers.  The worst ones were the ones that sold half out in minutes then drug out the other half for an hour.  It was a living hell I tell you, a living hell.

I hope they do it again soon.

I went Random.

It rolled Defcon for $1.99.

{stares at my retail copy of Defcon sitting on the shelf}

Yeah, not interested.

{shrug}

You only have about 30 minutes left to grab those last few million gift copies of the Fallout Collection that you wanted to get before the freebie promo ends.

2013 Winter sale day 03

RECOMMENDED DEAL

66% Off The Joy Of Platforming
Pandemonium! - $1.99
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - $4.99

COMMUNITY DEAL

75% or 50% Off Ultraviolence Uberpack

Blood (One Whole Unit) - $1.49

Blood 2: The Chosen + Expansion - $1.49

Carmageddon Max Pack - $2.49

Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now - $2.49

Hotline Miami - $2.49

Postal - $1.49

Postal 2: Complete - $2.49

I just want to say that these stacking sales on bundles with games that are only tangentially related is complete bullshit. I already own the first Carmageddon game and the two Blood games. So if I wanted to pick up the second Carmageddon game at the 75% discount, that means that I gotta pick up the other games too. Hotline Miami wouldn't be so bad if i didn't already own it a couple of times over. But forcing me to buy those shitty Postal games? Weak.

I chose the classic gift box again.. Got I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream for 66% off. Who do I kill to stop this from happening?

BTW if someone gets lucky and gets Re-Volt from the gift box, I'll buy it from you.

Looks like D&D will win tomorrow's vote.  Spent yesterday downloading all the stuff I bought in the insomnia sale, looking forward to filling out that collection at 80% off.

Picked the Mystery Mystery box today, got the Book of Unwritten Tales for $3.99.  Think i'll bite.

Now, will those be 80% off individually, or do you need to buy them as a set? I REALLY want to get Baldur's Gate 2 Complete, but probably not for only 50% off.

You need to buy the whole set. But you don't have to repurchase stuff you already own on GOG, so for me, theoretically i'll be able to purchase a "bundle" consisting of Icewind Dale 2, Temple of EE, Dragonshard, and Demon Stone at 80% off. Ala Carte purchases are regular price.

Or know someone with the all the games...they can then gift one game from the pack and receive 80% off.

At least that is how it worked in the past

Judging by the post on RPS, the Fallout series free deal was to end today at 2:00, but it's already over on GOG. Is this a site error that's worth checking back on, or is this an "I don't know how to use a calendar error? Thoughts?

I'd say its a calendar thing. It was 48 hours from when it began which means it ended around 4 hours ago.

I don't remember what time the sale started but their website definitely says the deal is expired. Did you miss out on the deal or are you just looking for extra bundles to gift?

Hmmm... that might still work for me then.

Thanks!

Pretty much this! I'm not interested in another Hotline Miami copy, and I'm sure as hell not paying for postal.

Can you buy a pack on GOG - and take some parts for yourself; and gift other pieces to others?

Or is it "All or nothing" - whether it's ALL for either yourself; or ALL for whomever you gift it to?

You should put some ads up on your profile page. With how many views you're getting, you'd be getting all of these GOG packs for free anyway!

Edit: Holy shit.. You were at 85k last I checked.. Now you're at 117k?!

If you already have parts of the pack, you can regift the extra and keep what you don't have. If you have none of a pack, its all yours. You can't pick and choose what you keep and gift from a pack.

Ex. A pack consists of Master of Magic, Master of Orion and Master of Puppets. You buy the pack and already have Magic. Orion and Puppets go into your library and you get a gift code for Magic to do as you please.

I on the other hand have none, and I buy it. They all go into my inventory.

Asheskitty owns them all and buys the pack. They get a giftcode to gift all 3 games as one pack.

Good to know.

Awesome - thanks for the info. :D

Oh yeah, my Classics was
Total Annihilation: Commander Pack - $1.79 (70% off)
...supposedly a good RTS, but I have so many RTSes in ye olde backlog, and I haven't played one in a very long time.

Yeah, I heard it was real good. I got it for 1.50 during the Insomnia sale. I missed the spin off though, maybe that'll come up for me tomorrow. Not that I'll get around to it anytime soon.

I went ahead and got Soul Reaver.

Make sure to download Fallout before the end of the year, because Bethesda will take over the rights to the game. That's why they all went free most likely, Interplay's final F U to Bethesda over their long court battle years ago.

They'll likely stay in the library anyway, better safe than sorry though.

Another more recent example is XIII* was removed from GOG at the 1 Jan 2013... a number of CAGs picked it up, including myself.  -- Still downloadable.

*PC version is supposedly better than the PS2 version (also backlogged, for $0.90).

I bought Carmageddon II at 50% off because Carmageddon II is basically the greatest driving game that ever existed.

Pedestrian Repulsifier!

I'm able to get Baldur's Gate 2, Dragonshard, Demon Stone, Icewind Dale 2, and Elemental Evil for $10.

I only really still wanted BG2 and IWD2. Are the other titles worth it?

Or perhaps someone wants to trade/buy those last three from me?

I have BG2; IWD2; and TOEE (from Retail).

I barely played TOEE - can't give much of opinion. It's turn-based, BTW. If you are going to play this, I would suggest you install the Circle of 8 Mod Pack for it. Something got in my way of really playing it. Another game that I should get to, some day.

Didn't touch IWD2, since I never finished IWD1.

I really liked IWD1 - it felt like a more linear, more action-focused BG type of game. Other stuff got in the way. I need to go back to those games, some day - especially since we don't get many full-control party-based RPG's anymore like BG1+2, NWN2, DAO, etc.

BG2 is great - and so it's TOB expansion. BG2:SOA is one of the best RPG's ever made + BG2: TOB is one of the best RPG expansion packs ever made, IMHO. If you loved DAO, this one's a no brainer - you should get these games.

Never played Dragonshard or Demon Stone. Don't even own those - so, I can't speak on those.

My game of the day is I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream 1.99.

I already have the game from the Vodo bundle ages ago.

Got some steamfriends who have been raving about this. Planned on picking it up during the winter sale there if it hit 50% off. Thanks, GOG!

Filled out my D&D collection, 5 games for $9.15. Tomorrow's roguelike bundle is tempting, but not 75% off tempting...especially since I would be triple dipping on FTL.
