Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Updated lists and database. Just a heads up, when this post gets to the 2,000 or slightly over I will be rolling this over to a new thread. Also, only have a handful of states left we need Tax/No-Tax information when paying fully with EDGE card.

No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia
No intention on getting Red Dead Redemption ? What are you crazy?
Didn't enjoy GTA4 very much and I'm mostly over open world games.

It's been a few years since I've been up that way, but I'm pretty sure New Hampshire has no sales tax at all anywhere in the state (not just Gamestop stores, I literally mean everywhere). Never had a chance to buy anything there with my Edge card through; will be going to Vermont this Summer, might just take a little drive that way and give it a try.
Can you change your pre-order from Red Dead to something else on the spot after you've traded in? I have no intention of getting it, but I do want to get that $40 credit.

Also, anyone have any luck of a store letting them use the credit towards something that WASN'T a pre-order?
I had to go back to the store a second time when I did that. I traded some PS2 games in, and the employee told me to just preorder RDR to get the 25% bonus, and that I could just come back in that afternoon and cancel it.

I'm not sure about on the spot, but you could definitely go back the next day and do it.

So if I bring in the email, am I only going to get $32.50 w/Edge for FF 13, or will I get around $42 for the 30% + Edge? Does that email constitute the one promotion to attach with Edge?

I must be very lucky!

My receipt says:
Final Fantasy XIII -42.00
930399 930/000 -1 @ -30.00
Bonus: 9.00 Promo #8913
Bonus: 3.00 Edge Card 10%

It shocked me because I was just in the store a couple days earlier and the board said $25.00. I went in on the 28th and didn't see the price there. I thought the probably lowered the price. I was very surprised to get $30 base.

Hey guys, gamestop.com sells Monster Hunter used for $35, and lists it as an "Online Only" price. A local gamestop has it, does anyone know what it would be in store? do they match the online only, or would it be $45 like most used games? I'll call them tomorrow, but curious if anyone knew off hand if local stores also have "Online only" prices

Do you need the complete email? Or just the coupon? I got an email for the same thing, but it was a different program three weeks ago.

I wanted to know if I used the email to add the $5, would I get the 30%+EDGE also to make it $42, or would it just be $32.50 ($25 x 10% + $5)? I think I got my answer and it looks like the latter. Seems that the 30%+EDGE is a better deal than the email.

It seems that you're not really understanding what "online only" means. ;-)

It'll be $44.99 in-store. It's not even in-stock used online.

ok, I was hoping FFXIII was at $30. Maybe I'll get lucky.

4/30

ffxiii is still 25 today for the ps3

i went in yesterday and was hoping for the 30 base. i resigned myself to 25 and went back this morning and traded it for the 25 plus bonuses.

Traded in a bunch of stuff today to upgrade to the DSiXL

Base Values:

DS
Original DS ("phat"): $35.00
Brain Age 1: $4.50

GBA
Super Mario Advance 2: $6.50

Xbox 360
LEGO Indiana Jones/Kung-Fu Panda: $2.00
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009: $7.00
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010: $12.00

PS2
WWE SmackDown Here Comes the Pain!: $2.50

Gamecube
Metroid Prime: $0.85
Super Smash Bros. Melee: $4.25
Star Wars Rogue Leader: $1.25
Resident Evil 4: $4.00
Legend of Zelda OoT/MQ Bonus Disc: $10.00

Just a bunch of stuff I'll never use mostly because I either have superior versions on other consoles, or just newer versions in general.

Overall with the $25 DS Trade-in towards new Hardware and 30% Bonus Trade-in on current-gen games I saved $122.50 on my DSiXL purchase.

Best gamestop related day ever, at my first gamestop, ended up returning a SF4 Fight Stick (Paid 39.99 for it), and somehow the trainee at the register screwed up and i ended up with 69.99 on my Edge Card.

Then i went to another gamestop, traded in Rock Band 2 (360) for 10.00, and Dragon Age Origins (360) for 15 (Before 40% bonus), and used the SSF4 25% Coupon to get Halo 3 ODST/Forza 3 for only 32.50.

THEN i somehow got lucky and got a copy of Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 (360) for 17.99 (The employee said "Wow your lucky, someone must have accidentally put the wrong sticker on it, because thats 17 dollars off price")

THEEEEN i went to another gamestop and used the coupon again to get Bioshock 2 (360) for 22.50, and finally used it a 3rd time at another and got Demon Souls for 22.50 ^_^

Best gamestop day evar

question about trading in multiple copies.. do any gs employees know that if i trade in multiple copies to different gs stores using my edge card, will it show up on a file what copies i have traded in?

Went in today, to trade by PSP2000 for the Big Boss bundle.
Got home and looked at the receipt, gave me the amount for a 3000($80). Credit doesn't apply to preorders apparently. I called and asked, he said I got lucky and explained the bundle comes out after the deal expires. Either way, I got $80, so awesome.

i know they take xbox 360's with broken dvd drives , but will they take a RRoD 360 console with 1 wired controller ? and if so how much .

I am not very good at reading the first page because it kinda hurts my eyes for some reason

so about how much would i get for odst with a $9 base+ 30% bonus and edge?

thinking about getting rid of it while i can since i already got into the reach beta
boo well might as well pair it with my AC22 copy and get $40 off one rdr galaxy 2 or ufc
Why didn't you just trade in Rock Band 2 for $40???

For you Pokemon Gold/Silver NDS traders - do you include the pedometer with it as well (the $20 is for the complete package or just the game?)

You can trade in Rock Band 2 ( Game only) For $40 towards read dead redemption, UFC 2010, and Super mario. and if you don't want any of those you can just trade it in for $40 and cancel later on.

Do not have to trade in the pedometer.
Oh, and do they take Rock Band accessories (no game, just the guitar, drums etc.)
Only accessory they take anymore is the mic. The drums they never took and guitars they have stopped taking.

Working on updating right now. Been playing with my new HP Mini 311 and got distracted.

We are now up to date.

Pokemon HeartGold $20 base.

Which means + 30% + 10% edge it was $28 trade in. They are selling it used for $27.99.

By the by, I asked this earlier. The pokewalker gets no additional trade value but if you include it most stores are at least passing it on to whoever buys it used.
