Guitar Hero II - General Disscusion - Indie Pack #2 - 3 Songs Up Now
What you have to remember is who owns the Beatles' music rights - Michael fucking Jackson. It's not up to the Beatles, it's up to him. I can't think of whether he's ever licensed his songs for games (Moonwalker notwithstanding ;)) or not, but that could be an indication of if it could happen.
Just Vice City.
Yes, very soon. I was going to buy an HDTV first, but I won't need it for GH, so I'm putting all my extra cash towards a 360 right now.
Excellent. I look forward to kicking your ass ;).

This game can't come soon enough. It's one of my most anticipated 360 titles this year.

A bit high and pricey, but from the looks of it totally worth it. Hopefully some good 10-12% off coupons come for BB around the time it comes out. Still, to have the chance to play both GH1+2 + bonus songs will be awesome.

I like those achievements. Some of them I know I'll never get (5-star Expert), but will motivate me to play better. I think that's the most valuable part of an achievement.

is the price really that bad, it is $10 more then what a guitar hero 2 and a guitar would cost you for the ps2. I have come to expect paying more for a similiar current ( i guess last gen) game. It also hasn't been ruled out that the guitar would be wireless...I have read and heard it on podcasts that they are trying to work it out with microsoft and that is was still possible to come out with a wireless one.

they've been saying that for months now, but M$ wants too much money/just wont give out the wireless info (one of the two I remember reading in an article somewhere) I don't think its the latter as they are allowing Nyko to make a third party wireless controller, but I seriously doubt it ends up being wireless, especially so close to release.

Mark my words...there will be a wireless guitar for GHII 360.
Most likely, it will come out a few months after release so they can double dip into your wallets.

Exactly why I'm waiting. Cords don't bother me as much on regular controllers, but if I'm rockin out, so to speak, I can't be held down by a bothersome rope.

To be fair, guitarists have put up with it as long as there have been electric guitars! Get a USB extension cord?
So does anyone have any videos of it in action? specifically of "Trooper" hopefully the cover singer isnt too bad.
Theres a couple short videos on YouTube

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tcWV0gLUfq4

That one is about 10 minutes long. (On stage demo @ CES)

It's a mixture of short clips of the game in action, but mostly an on-stage interview.

I don't see any of the new songs listed in there. That is probably the PS2 list.

I don't think their listed because they are supposed to be the secret unlockable tracks.
OK. I'm not going to pick it up on day one now. Why?

Confirmed: Guitar Hero 2 on XBox 360 will NOT have online play

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/23/confirmed-no-xbox-live-multiplayer-in-guitar-hero-ii-update-po/

Was that confirmed before? I missed it if it was. This is so lame.
You seriously expected online play? This was pretty much confirmed at E3 last year in a stage demo on GameSpot. They shot down the idea of online play because lag would destroy the game.

I'll still get it since I don't have a PS2.

As long as they offer new downloadable tracks, it's a must-buy. I didn't expect this to have online co-op, and I don't expect Virtua Fighter 5 to either. Sometimes games are good enough so it doesn't matter.

You also ignored this part:

Elsewhere, RedOctane has suggested that a multiplayer update (via Xbox Live) is possible. Apparently, iffy co-op play prevented online multiplayer from being a launch feature.

As cool as online play would have been, I'll just settle for downloadable songs. Especially if the first set they sell are GH1 tracks but updated to take advantages of the new GH2 game mechanics.

I'm brand new to the 360 forum.. this is my first look around here. I am a xbox noob since I never owned or got familiar with the xbox1 and I just bought my 360 last Friday.

So there are songs exclusive to the 360--including a Maiden song? Nice.

But I won't know for sure if I'll be buying this or the 80's version for the ps2 (which will be much more convenient with hd loader). The tracklist for the 80's hasn't been released yet, has it?

On a side note, that guitar looks fucking bad..
I played this for a good chunk today at CES (this and Shadowrun) and I must say that it is fucking awesome and I can't wait till it comes out. My Activision lady rep friend was there on hand as well and I spoke to her and they haven't set a price point yet for downloadable songs, but there will definitely be songs available and that fans have really been asking for GH1 songs so they are seriously contemplating making some GH1 songs apart of the first batch.
lol.. read this just now. GH1 songs with the GH2 songs? Along with a wireless guitar? I have to buy this.. no matter what.

AND you played Shadowrun.. you mother fucker.

Looks like I picked the right time to buy a 360.. and it only cost me $420 after tax, with madden and gears of war.

Is it me or is the tracklisting for GH2 crap compared to GH1? There are some excellent standout tracks like Sweet Child O'Mine, Jessica and (yes) Freebird but for some reason I think the overall Guitar Rock God feel is missing. It's still a great game though - and freaking impossible. I can barely suffer through the songs on Hard - nevermind Expert.
woo day before my birthday, guess ill blow my birthday money in a day :p

*hopes delay means wireless controller*
I hope so too. I might wait this one out until the holidays or something in hopes that a wireless guitar will eventually get released. I already have this for PS2 if I'm dying to play.

I also just checked out the achievements - they are pretty well balanced. Some of them are going to be impossible for me to get... like beating anything that has to do with expert.

They're both fine to me. I'd probably favor the second game just because of sheer volume. Also because it now has the added power of Iron Maiden. I'm just praying they are not retarded and release the GH1 songs for download.
You seriously expected online play? This was pretty much confirmed at E3 last year in a stage demo on GameSpot. They shot down the idea of online play because lag would destroy the game.
I was expecting online play. This is hugely disappointing for me.
If I can have 8 people on screen fighting on GoW with bullets wizzing by and smoke and frag grenades going off with no lag whatsoever, I should be able to have some notes scroll by.

I'll do you one better. I can play Call of Duty 3 with 24 people, tanks exploding, and shooting, don't forget the air strikes raining down all over the map. But no online play for GH2

I'm buying this when it comes out. I've tried to learn the guitar unsuccessfully. So all I have is Guitar Hero.

Why would online play be fun? Co-op and multiplayer how it is now is fun because you are right next to the person you're playing with. You can trash talk and offer advice all in the same breath. It really feels like a team effort. Playing online, even with friends, will never ever be as fun because they aren't there with you.

Why is everyone bitching about this not having online play? It wouldn't even be fun. Multiplayer GH is all about having a friend rocking out next to you. Leaderboards and downloadable songs are the only online-related features GH needs.

To the two posters above me, some of us don't have two guitars, or friends that play or even care about Guitar Hero. Online play is that closest some of us will ever get to trying out the multiplayer mode.

I know I'm not spending $40 or so on a second guitar so one of my friends can play the game once and never touch it again. None of my rl friends are gamers in the least bit...

You guys comparing FPS games to GH2 and complaining are kind of off here - an FPS game does not require split second timing - and even then, how often do you hear people complain about/blame lag during their game?

It hurts a shooter to be laggy, it KILLS a timing-based game like this. Don't believe me? Imagine trying to play GH2 with the delay correction setting that you can tweak in the options switching every few seconds to a random number.

Same goes for Virtua Fighter 5. Completely understandable that they would not include online play if they didn't think they'd have it at an acceptable level in time for release.

I'll just hope they can get it out eventually. Until then, the regular game is fine with me as long as they keep the downloadable tracks coming.

90 bucks is a lot, but since I don't have a PS2 the sting doesn't hit me as much.

people complaining about lack of online play must really not have ever played GH, a split second off and you can basically lose the song.

Everyone thats bitching about us bitching about no online play, is forgetting that not everyone's friends live right down the street. Some of us have friends in other cities, and states. The only way to rock out with them is online play.

I don't know a single person in "real life" that has a 360. I have no problem with them taking out the online play for now, because it WOULDN'T WORK PROPERLY. It wouldn't even be fun. Why is this still a point of debate? It's just not something that can happen right now.

Make new friends. :D

wasn't there a story recently on how they were trying to perfect the online play for launch, and they were hoping to have it ready for launch. (most likely as a DL)
