Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack
Sure, dream on might be easy, but I really enjoy playing it.

Thanks for the title update...I would of missed out on the free dl.
Yes, I agree with you. I also must thank you if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have checked it out and got it for free.
Is this really how it works? My wife and I also completed Co-op this weekend and she got an achievement and I didn't. I assumed it was because I somehow got signed out of my account for a couple songs in the middle. Our intention was to go back and replay those songs over the coming days, but is it really the case that I can't actually get the achievement this way?
I wouldn't purposely mislead you. If your wife was the primary account, ie, the person that hit start at the title screen (and therefore the saved game is under her gamertag), that would be why she got the achievement and not you.

I can't find the page right now that explains it, but eventually someone will find that page again.

Thanks, I'll look as well. I just wasn't sure if you were reporting that you experienced a bug, or if this was "as designed."

Sadly enough, as much as this ticks me off it won't even put a dent in my playtime of this game. This is my first "guitar game" and we pretty much think about it, talk about it, and play it non-stop since we got it.

The only reason we've played so little Co-Op is because one of us (read *I*) have to play with the gamepad. I know I want a second guitar, but I want another wireless. Once we get one though, we'll be playing through with me as primary player!

hrm. i was stoked on dream on until i actually played it. the second time around on hard, i gold starred it. that and the realization that it was new, crappy aerosmith covering old, awesome aerosmith put a bit of a damper on it.
New peripherals, I imagine. Three months and days from now, I would expect them to try to compete with Rock Band. They probably don't want to appear to be behind in the race for a complete band game (though they already are behind).
As long they have a game only package and don't skimp on the guitar tracks on songs (only played one song on Rock Band but it was super easy on expert) - ill be cool

yeah..no doubt. Dream On sounded like a crappy cover. I assume this means that they'll be ruining all of their old songs on this game. Looks like a rental to me.
(only played one song on Rock Band but it was super easy on expert)
I'm not a fan boy and I don't want to start a war, but if the one song you play was one of the warm-up songs, then even on expert it's going to be easy. For a challenge, try 'Train Kept A'Rollin' on expert. that said, I do agree that GHIII is more difficult than GHII or Rockband (In my humble opinion.)

The next DLC pack is a No Doubt track pack. No idea what songs yet, but thats the artist. To confirm this information, (this is for those of you that are registered with guitarhero.com) go look at your scores, use the drop down menu to scroll through all tiers like usual, but at the bottom, it says "DLC- No Doubt Track Pack."

No link with a credible confirming source, mainly because I have yet to see it announced, but here is a link to my Flikr showing the webpage I am talking about

I'll definitely pick it up if all 3 songs are from "Tragic Kingdom"

Two songs should be Hella Good and Spiderwebs and throw in another cool one. Man I just got GH3 and I love this game. Its been 3 or 4 days now and I'm on medium, finished on easy, and I just did Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's one of my favorites and its def a good song to practice hammer ons and pull offs. I couldn't get those through my head at first but overtime I'm adapting to them. I haven't picked up any DLC for this game yet. I also thought the story was funny and nice short cutscenes.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I agree.

Now there's a classic
Songs included in the track pack will be Don't Speak, Excuse Me Mr., and Sunday Morning. Songs taken from the main scoreboard page on guitarhero.com, photos listed below.

Spiderwebs should have been included and would have been fun to play.

I've been thinking that Rock Band needed Spiderwebs, I'm Just a Girl and Don't Speak

Honestly can't say that any of those has a strong enough guitar part to be good for Guitar Hero, but I'm not making decisions, am I?

Well i love no doubt from tragic kingdom days, and i love those songs....but i dont know if the guitar part will make them fun. I will need to see a video of them first. Anyone got any ideas on which songs to buy that i dont have?

DLC i dont have:

Classic Pack
No Doubt Pack
German Song thats not Die Fantastischen Vier - Ernten Was Wir Säen
German Song thats not Die Fantastischen Vier - Ernten Was Wir Säen

Which of these are the best, or most fun to play? How would you order them from best to worst. I just bought a 1600 points card.

As for the difficulty of the No Doubt pack, ide say its gonna be pretty easy with Excuse me Mr. being that hardest followed by Dont Speak and then Sunday Morning. Sunday morning will probably be like that linking park song with constant doubles.

In that order, if you plan on buying them.

it's to the point that i'm disappointed when they announce gh dlc. i'd much rather have don't speak in rock band and it still bothers me that i can't just buy the individual songs. i would actually purchase a couple of the dlc songs but there's no way they are shoveling me these packs.
Wait does No Doubt even have that much guitar in it? Seems like a strange choice for Guitar Hero.
Old (read: good) No doubt does. And since all 3 songs are from 1995's Tragic Kingdom, yay that.

"Excuse Me, Mr." should be the best for guitar.

Just got this yesterday. Can anyone tell me what the "campaign" leaderboard represents? Is it the combined score of career and quick play?

The track pack definitely needs the first two you mentioned. I'm really happy that "Sunday Morning" is in the pack, since it's my favorite No Doubt song.

I'll have to pick up this pack sometime in the next week or so.

Really, a good song to have for GH3 is Strength of the World by Avenged Sevenfold, perfect guitar song. Bat Country would also be a great song for this game.

I was wondering the same thing. I got GH3 for the wireless guitar but I heard GH2 was easier than the third. It would be smarter to start with 2, I would think but I've also heard that the timing is different with the game as well.

GH3 is alot harder then 2 yes.
GH3 guitar is great. The wireless part is really great, i didnt think too much about it over the wired version but now i cant imagine it being wired.
It also works with rock band too on the 360... sorry PS3 owners.

Omg I just beat the game on medium, yea you suck, I know I do just started and had to play Lou three times before beating him. After that I got two voice messages from Dexter Rhiley?! Never heard of this dude or know how he saw that I was playing GH3 because he said that and something about a Led Zeppelin song. I googled the name and Dexter Riley is a character in a old 1969 movie as a human computer. It's very suspicious to get a voice message after I beat the game, maybe Developer? Whatever, I'm tired, goin to bed.
I would have bought it if it had Don't Speak and Spiderwebs, but I don't care for the other two songs.. Maybe Rock Band...
It has Don't Speak and Sunday Morning is a fun song at least.
I am assuming the wireless takes batteries then?
Yes, and I believe they released a battery pack for it as well (controller battery won't work), if you don't want to purchase separate rechargeables.

I didn't know that even though it's a pain to get another battery pack but that's good to know. Still on the batteries that came with it.

How many people have beaten Through the Fire and Flames on Expert? I've been practicing it, and it seems the hardest part is the intro. Anyone beat it and care to discuss?
How many people have beaten Through the Fire and Flames on Expert? I've been practicing it, and it seems the hardest part is the intro. Anyone beat it and care to discuss?
the intro is extremely easy in comparison to the ending. Hermin's solo on to the "What The...???" part is pretty rough. There are a lot of youtube videos on the intro to TTFAF, just tap normally. Dont be some weirdo who elbow strums or whatever. I am sure you understand how to do the intro...so no reason to repeat it but practice and relax. I spent awhile trying to do the intro by hitting the frets hard or whatever but i kept screwing up. Relax and take it easy. I know a lot of people fail at the end where you have tap like the intro for Red, Blue and Orange. Again practice and should be easy flying.

After you learn the intro you can probably waste most of the 12 year olds that pick the song and fail at it. Almost @ the 100 wins for "Long Road Ahead" Achievement, just painful playing TTFAF 3 times back to back on pro-face off with people who score around 150k total for the song...blah!

Take this Life's intro is harder then TTFAF imo...probably because its not played as much.

Holy hell the final boss batlle is a bitch! Even on medium. Only tried 3 times as I was getting tired as I'd been playing for a while. But damn, the songs' tough enough and the battle is hard as it's such a fast song you don't really have time to look over and time your attack so you block him from getting an attack to use on you (which was how I got past Slash).
I can beat TTFAF, theres a couple parts that give me problems but I can generally do ok. Only reliable way to really beat the intro is to learn to tap. Here's a link to what I used to start getting used to it, in all I was able to tap the intro in a few days.

Haha omg that is insane strumming with your elbow. Well I'm no wheres near that as I'm trying to master Hard. I feel there is a big learning curve from medium to high. Man not only the added orange fret but also the new chords and faster pacing is kicking my ass. Maybe I should grab GH2 before I continue on with the harder difficulties.
How many people have beaten Through the Fire and Flames on Expert? I've been practicing it, and it seems the hardest part is the intro. Anyone beat it and care to discuss?
The hardest part is near the end. I think I get like 80% or something before fatigue sets in and I fail.

Does anyone think that the intro to TTFATF is easier on Expert than Hard? I can generally do better at fast notes (even when there are more notes) when I can tap them, and on Hard they don't allow hammer-ons or pull-offs, which is ridiculous.

Yea I cant really do much on the intro on hard, but can nail it on expert more often then not. Really dont understand why they didnt make it hammer ons for hard. The section is even called THEY'RE HAMMER ONS!

The Hard intro is pretty easy to pick up when u miss a note. On expert if you miss a note u gotta wait for a repeating section to come up to get back to tapping..if you miss it and you probably will probably fail.

Obviously fc'n the Hard intro is much more difficult but its much easier to fail on expert.

How many gold stars you guys have? got 7 on Expert myself. slowly grinding for that 20gs achievement.

I've been practicing tapping on TTFAF on expert. I can get it most of the time on slower. I'm going to move to slow today. It's a lot of fun to do, as it is on a real guitar, but it's hard to wrap my head around the change in finger placement.
