Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack
Does anyone know how the demo for GHIII is going to work with Prooving Grounds? will it be on the disk or something (ie can I rent prooving grounds and get the demo?)
I believe so, yeah.

Man, they're gonna sucker *so* many people into buying THPG for a demo for a game that's coming out a mere 6 weeks from now, and could jolly well be released by itself on XBLM a week after THPG is released.

Tee-hee.

I'm kinda pissed that the demo is going to be on Tony Hawk.

More and more games will have this instead of puting them on XBLM. The big developers like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft I can see all of them doing this since they put out multiple games per quarter.

I hope Microsoft steps in and stops others from doing this, but they won't.

There are very few games that they could get away with getting people to buy a different game just to play a demo of it. Most of the time, making the demo available to everyone is more beneficial to get people interested in a game they didn't care about before. If the roles were reversed, for example, how many people would buy Guitar Hero for the purpose of playing a Tony Hawk demo? It doesn't make sense except for with a few very popular games.

Thanks! Didn't see that list 24 hours ago in this very thread!

So, it seems that the rumors final boss is "Lou." Hmm.

Sand in Vagina? evanft?

And I'm a fan of any of "devil went down to Georgia." But I can't imagine that being good. Fiddle does not equal guitar.

Better start believing or the devil gets your soul.
Slipknot and Disturbed....ewwwwwwwwwww
That's what I was thinking. Hopefully they're fun to play, at least.

Vyse-86, a user over at Score Hero, claims to have played the game at the Leipzig Games Convention. He made a thread about it a few weeks back. Well, in the GameFAQs thread where that list was posted, he made this post:
I can confirm this setlist to be real, but like the original poster. I have no proof.

It's a long story. I was at the Games Convention in Leipzig. We were already there on Tuesday, when most booths were still in build-up state, but the Guitar Hero III booth was already up and running. I asked if I was allowed to play, the guy said yes.

For some reason, they had the full version of GH 3 popped in on that day, so I went to quick play and saw the first two tiers. I saw Sunshine of Your Love by Cream and that song was on the rumored list ever since, and the list posted here is the exact same than the one I saw in Leipzig. The names of the tiers are right, and the four songs I saw in the first and second tier in Leipzig are in the first and second tiers of this list. It's too much to be a coincidence. This list is very real.

That being said, it PISSES ME OFF that Reptilia and Helicopter are coop exclusive. These were the songs I was looking forward to the most and now I learn that I can't really play them. F***!
He reposted this in the Guitar Hero 3 Info thread over at Score Hero.
I believe so, yeah.
I hope so I've got like 15 free rentals at Rogers Video so hopefully I can grab it.

That Vyse guy made another post in that thread:

Although, it is kinda odd that Atreyu and the VR songs aren't in. I mean, I know they're not confirmed, but they seemed to be right in that area of "in, just no definitive proof."
I noticed that to. Hearts on Fire is also missing, sadly :( But that actually makes that list more believeable. If someone made it up, these songs would be in for sure...

EDIT: They could very well be DLC. So the band gave the rights to the songs and such, confirmed in Interviews that the songs are in, but they're not in the list right now because they'll be DLC, released in the next few months or so.
Of course, did you see every song in the bonus list, or anything past the first 2 tiers?
No, only the first two tiers, minus the encores. Story of my Life is the unannounced song I forgot about. I guess if I had seen the whole list I would have gotten a heart attack ^.^

The only way this list is fake is that someone who, like me, saw the first few tiers in Leipzig, took that information to make this list up. Also, Imacarrot said that One, NotB and RB are in the final tier, and they are in this list. If this list is fake, somebody spent days on researching all the facts, and it's the best fake evr.

i'm just really excited about The Fall of Troy being in the bonus...FCP has sick guitar work...yesss
Agreed. It's gonna be insane to play that song on expert.

Yeah, I'm excited to play The Fall of Troy, Metallica, Dragon Force, In Flames, Senses Fail, The Sleeping, The Strokes, Slayer and pretty much EVERYSONGONTHERE!

Vyse-86's posts in the GH3 Info Thread, where he discussed the fact that the version of the game he played seemed to indicate that the list was real, were deleted. Confirmed.

Confirmed as in list is real or fake?

Can you delete your own threads over there? Might have done it himself for a little internet fame and to get people talking.

So, to play co-op songs, will it be required that you have someone else there? If so, I'm going to have to learn to play with my feet, damn.
Can you delete your own threads over there? Might have done it himself for a little internet fame and to get people talking.
You can't delete your posts on Score Hero if someone has posted after you, so Vyse couldn't have deleted them himself.

Slipknot, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, SRV, The Who and Eric Johnson. Nice.:applause:

This game just keeps getting better and better. The extra $10 doesn't even bother me anymore.

Soundtrack CD announced.

It'll have "Kool Thing" on it, so that pretty much confirms the songs from those XBL gamertag pictures which, in case you don't remember, were:

Aerosmith - Same Old Song And Dance
Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia
MatchBox Romance - Monsters
Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
The Who - The Seeker
White Zombie - Black Sunshine

Also, XBL users will be able to use a code that comes with the CD to unlock the following songs:

AFI - Carcinogen Crush
Flyleaf - Tina
Marilyn Manson - Putting Holes in Happiness (Remix)

I always trusted those XBL gamertag pics, at least, so it's good to have confirmation. More DK is going to be excellent. Even though I'm no fan of the bands, the soundtrack unlocking extra songs is interesting, mostly because it means more sons (even at a cost).

Also, gamefaqs user Chris_Stynes noticed this in the Boston Herald: http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view.bg?articleid=1032412
“We’re trying to do lots of grassroots marketing,” Meyer said. “Things like YouTube, MySpace [website] and Guitar Hero, which will feature the Dropkicks on its next edition, work best for us. We pretty much do all these things on our own, but we don’t know how to run a label. So the partnership with Warner is perfect.”

Guess I'll have to buy a CD...atleast its better than spending 500pts for 3 songs right?

Not if you have cheap-ass points from the CC sale!;)

I don't recognize the Manson song. Which album is that from?
Killswitch Engage, SRV, The Who and Eric Johnson. Nice.:applause:
Though it's an older album, I was hoping that a song off "The End of Heartache" would be chosen.

I love KSE, but their newest album is terrible.

For the code that comes with it, I wonder if it is to redeem a DL, or if it's just like the "exclusive code" that came with each version of Transformers the Game. That was just a cheat code to unlock content. The XBL part makes me think the former, but I have to hope for the latter.

Eat Me, Drink Me, it was released sometime this year.
Also, gamefaqs user Chris_Stynes noticed this in the Boston Herald: http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view.bg?articleid=1032412
I'll do my best to avoid falling into a "Dropkick Murphys are nothing more than a paint-by-numbers-oi-band-on-their-best-day" tirade, and merely say that, while very popular, their song arrangements aren't complex enough that I could see their songs being fun in GH. Then again, Social D is in the same songwriting boat, and they made it into GHIII.

As for the soundtrack CD, man, they're gonna sucker some of y'all in GOOD with the DLC this time around. I have a feeling that the soundtrack code is just the beginning of sopping more money out of you, and, by comparison, 500 points for three tracks will look like a steal.

 I will make everyone at work green with envy when I bring those jawns in.

In all seriousness though, I think now I'm leaning to get the guitar too. Originally I was going to get rockband and use the guitar from that, but with the easier difficulty, I think I'm taking a pass on that one for now.
$200 means GHIII comes first, and Rock Band comes after a thorough round of reviews, opinions, and a giant-ass 20%+ off sale.
Add "A version with just the drums and game" to that, too, and you've got my situation.
