Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack

Am I the only one who's noticed a distinct lack of info on the PS2 version? I mean, we've obviously got tons of info, screens, etc. for the 360 version (which also kinda means we have the same thing for the PS3 version), some info and screen about the Wii version, but absolutely nothing about the PS2 version.

Very, very odd.
Thanks. It's just crazy that they're still cranking out games for that system.
I think the Wii is ending up being the PS2's life support system .

Which is why the Wii is so underwhelming IMO .

And where's my AC/DC ?

Ask AC/DC. It's not really up to Red Octane if a song is in. They obviously want them, but AC/DC just didn't let them.

It has a 100 Million install base, and games are still selling well to it.

I'll be buying GHIII on the PS2 as I already have 2 controllers and the first two games, so it makes more sense just to buy the game only version.

Only other option is the Wii, and I don't want a third controller, or waiting until I get a 360 down the road--but again really don't want a third controller or hassle of trying to sell the PS2 games/controllers for a decent price.
Did somebody say Satriani? How about Vai & Petrucci? G3 Soundcheck
Steve Vai would be a great addition, too. I'm just so flippin' ecstatic that they've included a track by SRV.

Went ahead and ordered the bundle at RedOctane. I could use the Gig Bag to put the Xplorer in as well.

I haven't ordered from RO before, but I'm assuming they're able to fill all pre-orders in their first shipment? Anyone able to fill me in if you've pre-ordered bundles from them previously? Thanks.

Though, this was only the version for the 360, so I'm not sure if there's more demand for GHIII.

I only pre-ordered the game from RO a week or so ago, so I'm in nearly the same boat. But, I've got no reason to think they won't pull it off, so we should be safe (I hope).

Sorta unrleated but funny story...I was born in '81 never listened to AC/DC...My co-worker was driving as we were going to lunch and a song by AC/DC came on....I said "oh so that's what they sound like", he was like "WTF!, you never heard AC/DC?" I told him..."I probobly have but I can't tell you what songs they play, I wouldn't recognize them off the bat", he was so amazed and pissed off he said he was tempted to kick me off the moving vehicle on the freeway

Anyways....here's a crappy look at the faceplates that will be coming soon after the game:

Also, the December issue of OXM will feature the GHIII demo, and appearently some people are getting this magazine early: http://forums.xbox.com/1/16049760/ShowPost.aspx#16049760

LOL. It's amusing to me how the young 'uns in on this site have never heard of some of the bands in these games. Alas, I've probably never heard of some of the music you whipper-snappers like today.

Those faceplates are all pretty crappy looking, the Jolly Roger one isn't too bad though.

It'd be nice if they would release a clear plastic one, then we can make templates online and then print and cut. I doubt they would do that though, because then we wouldn't buy theirs!

ORLY?

I like the metallic one, although I'll probably just use the exclusive one I'm getting from Red Octane or paint the original faceplate to look like Zakk Wylde's guitar.

Painting is the way to go. ;)

So will we be able to use a battery pack with the controllers?? Or am I going to have to give my firstborn over to the Energizer bunny?...

Even if no battery pack, just get some rechargable NiHM batteries.

Every house should have several of these around. Saves a shit ton of money in the long run in the age of digital cameras, battery sucking Harmony remotes, wireless game controllers etc. And they last a lot longer than regular batteries to boot.

Screw all that. I'm goin' to Hobby Lobby for an airbrush kit. My Gee-tar's gonna get a Unicorn on it.

Actually, regular Alkaline's will last longer in a remote. NiMH are horrible at holding a charge over extended periods of time like you would have with a remote. My harmony doesn't eat batteries at all, of course YMMV depending on use. I don't channel surf so that probably helps. I have some NiMH but the recharging cycle hassle is a bitch. Love my 360 quick charge kit... which brings us back on topic:

Does anyone know if the guitar will use the 360 battery pack?

I've read no. Can't remember where I read that though.

That's a little too hardcore for me, man. I'm just putting glittery My Little Pony stickers on my guitar, that's as far as I'll go.

i might have missed it, but did anybody hear what they are going to be doing with their new guitar hero site... could be great.

FTA:
After the game launches on Oct. 28, player will be able to create or join a group on the site to compare scores along with tracking and finding friends. The press release isn't exactly crystal clear, but it sounds like the site might be a bit like Bungie's Halo 3 site, meaning that it could track scores, which is a fantastic idea for Guitar Hero 3.

I registered a few days ago, but wanted to change that part of it. I'm guessing that won't be available 'till the site officially launches, if at all?

More companies need to take Bungie's lead and do this. Glad to see Activision getting in the ring.

So there are still some tracks to be announced then? Here's hoping for The Offspring, Green Day, Linkin Park, KoRn, Story Of The Year, Papa Roach, Chevelle, 30 Seconds To Mars, Sum41, White Stripes, Thrice...

Hopefully Green Day or Korn. IMO, it should really be a band that has at least 3 or 4 albums out, and has been around for a good long while. Otherwise, I don't see how they can be considered "legends" otherwise.

While I'm a Linkin Park fan, they really don't belong in Guitar Hero. Maybe Bleed It Out or something, but........

A little birdie visited me today and gave me a nice present:

s25q9t.jpg

It's got "Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benetar, "Lay Down" by Priestess, "Evenflow" by Pearl Jam, "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by The Scorpions and "The Metal" by Tenacious D, in that order. I ripped through Evenflow on hard with very little difficulty, same with The Metal.

Any fears I have about this game have been squashed. It plays exactly like GH2, it feels like the same developers, everything's great.. the only distracting thing is that after 25 or 30 notes in a row, the counter drops below the score multiplier.. I keep checking to see what number i'm at.

The song list is seperated by three tabs.. setlist, downloaded and bonus songs. Nice touch. Load times are very, very, very fast. Much faster than GH2. Graphics are greatly improved.

Anyway, check your local EB/GS/GC/WalMart.. it should be running in every 360 kiosk shortly, along with the new black guitar (which has a switch to flip to put more faceplates on the guitar). GH2 guitars work fine, though I really, really like the one for GH3. The demo also has multiplayer. Not over live, just on the same system. The guide button on the guitar is very tiny, so no more accidentally hitting it (Yay!)

What's the health warning? "User should stretch properly before playing this game. Improper stretching of the wrist and forearm could cause carpal tunnel syndrome"?
What's the health warning? "User should stretch properly before playing this game. Improper stretching of the wrist and forearm could cause carpal tunnel syndrome"?
I dunno. Probably the same health warning at the beginning of every instruction book. Playing games too long will make you grow fat and ugly, incoherently mumble and randomly yelled "noob".

Thanks for the heads up Scorch!

I really really really want to play "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". I'll have to see who in my area has the demo running.

Those two things contradict each other. Korn hit it big in '99, a whopping 8 years ago. The only ones that actually fit your criteria out of LinkinPrime's list are the Offspring and Green Day who hit it big in '93 and '94 respectively. I'd love to see something from Smash or Ixnay from the Offspring. Those could be a blast to play.

As for the others, there is one or two tracks off of Linkin Park's newest album that could be interesting. Sum 41 is a joke, they've even admitted they suck as song writers and basically rip other artists off, IIRC. Korn and White Stripes would depend highly on the song. Papa Roach? Did they have more than one song? Same question for Chevelle. Haven't heard of the others.

As pointed out though, Tenacious D is in it so it's not like they are sticking to the whole 'legend' thing very strictly. Of any recent artist I'd love to see more than anything would be Kenny Wayne Shepperd. Hasn't been around too long, but is already a legend.

"Bad Habit" would be a good one from the Offspring. "Smash" is by far their best album.

Also, Korn's first album was in 1994, so "Blind" would be an ideal track. I realize that they didn't really get mega-popular until 98-99, with the release of "Follow the Leader". All lot of great stuff on that cd, too.
