Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack

This one guy came to my dorm 2 nights ago (completely wasted) and sang Juke Box Hero like a champ. He swung the mic around, danced and didn't even look at the screen

I hope you recorded it...

Again, the face that we have to talk about the Rock Band DLC in this thread makes me sad. I love Rock Band....but I would also love ANYTHING for GHIII.

Great. So I finally beat Raining Blood on hard and now it looks like I'm gonna be stuck on Lou.

EDIT: Wow. I can't see how I'm ever gonna beat this guy in this battle. First of all, I'm not quite good enough yet. Second, the battle is very unbalanced. He gets his first battle power just in time to disrupt my first, and if he gets a lefty flip or a double (which he seems to get most of the time somehow) then I'm pretty much toast.

The devs didn't recognize it would be a bad idea to have the last battle decided primarily by luck? You gotta be kiddin me. I'm sure I'll beat him somehow but it's either gonna take a looong time or a lot of luck.

Okay, all GH can have that Rock Band can't is killer instrumentals.

Now there are three that I would love to see, and would in my opinion breath a lot of life in GH.

1.) Top Gun Anthem - Steve Stevens (What were his parents thinking?)

2.) Crystal Planet - Joe Satriani

3.) Canon Rock - Anyone can do this one, there are tons of variations all over you tube, but they could just that Steven "What-ever-his-name-is" (the dude that did Devil Went Down to Georgia and We Three Kings) to do it.

I really like this guys rendition of it...

I know that Jerry C is the original dude behind it, but I just happen to like this guy's version more.

anyone have issues of buttons sticking/not responding? had some friends play tonight and they said my red button was acting funny. haven't had a chance to check it out, but was wondering if this was a wide spread problem and if so, if it had a fix.

Look on youtube for "GHIII easy way to beat Lou". Basically your first powerup needs to be a whammy and you hit it at a long string of green notes and he automatically fails.

I take the neck apart from the body if my controller ever acts up. Just to let the contacts reconnect in case some dust or something got in there. Works fine after most of the time. If not then usually the battery is weak.

Thanks, I'll have to try that. The problem is that I don't think I've ever gotten that first battle power, due to my suckiness and his battle power.
I love my Les Paul to death. That is all.
*hugs both his wired les paul and his wireless les paul*

I still can't beat Raining Blood on hard.

It's all about that first star power. The first time I got both of the stars at the beginning, I beat the song. There's nothing to really worry about after the Mosh.

Well I tried it today and it doesn't seem to work on hard. Back to square one I guess.

Here is a crazy question. When did they start packaging the explorer with GHIII? Walmart had a stack of them in the display case today.

It's a Walmart/Sam's Club thing; they sell those packages instead of the Les Paul packages pretty much every other store offers.

The PS2 version as WM/Sams also has the red SG rather than the wireless Kramer.

Ah cool. Thought I was losing it for a sec. Guess I won't be buying from Walmart. Would like to try the Les Paul. The explorer is alright, but already have one for GHII.

Thxs for the info Callandor.

Just beat GH3 on Expert! Yay me.

I thought it'd give me all the achievements for Easy-Hard. Now I have to beat those to? Lame... I should get them if I beat it on a harder difficulty...
This will be my first GH DLC purchase.
I read "Foreigner, Journey, & Boston DLC Coming Soon" and immediate came into the thread. More Journey would be nice, specifically Dixie Highway and Keep on Runnin'; as would more Pearl Jam, some Led Zeppelin, and a bunch of Stone Temple Pilots.

You got my hopes up, I saw your post and thought you said that more Pearl Jam would be coming soon. :bomb:

I'll confirm that the packs are up, I just saw it.

Now, I have to make the decision if I really want to get it or not. I'm trying to save my MS points for when I finally buy Rock Band, but that might not be for a while.

I need to see some vids of all 3 full length songs to see if it'll be worth it.

Edit*

Here's two that I found.
Too bad we can't sing and play drums with this stuff. I'm so spoiled by RB.
Seriously!! I was one click away from DL'ing this but I just couldn't do it. Hopefully the Journey and Boston songs are available for RB.
Got 'em and rocked at 3:30am during a diaper change.
Now that's for damn sure a sign you play way too much Guitar Hero. ;)

Six of one, half dozen of another. Chances are they would be covers in Rock Band and I'd rather have master tracks instead of some schmoe trying to sound like Steve Perry. This DLC pack easily trumps all the covers released for Rock Band. All three are solid songs and have, from my limited ability (med-hard), excellent note charts.

So I'll take the hit on losing drums and mic for a master track that only has guitar parts.

That's a good point Corvin. I'm really torn over these ones. I want them all on RB, especially Journey, but they would likely be covers. I also feel dirty paying 500 points for them, when you get 3 (well 4 really) instruments on RB for less.

FYI, are all original versions.
I hope you washed your hands before touching your guitar!:D

So awesome that these are original tracks.:bouncy:

Why do you automatically assume they would be covers for RB?

i was just thinking that we need more DLC (well we still do) but this will satisfy me for the time being. nothing like some classic butt rock, ill be sure to rock out journey soon. i really wish theyd give us more than a feeling from boston instead, even though its on guitar hero 1.

Harmonix hasn't made a strong case for me not to assume that.

Out of all the DLC they've released so far only 5 of the 22 classic rock tunes have been master tracks, 3 of which are the Police. So outside of the Police you have 2 master track Classic Rock tunes up for DLC out of 19. Also if you look at the main in game track list you would see that EVERY cover song in the game is a classic rock tune. Tuesday we get "Working Man" as made famous by Rush. The parade continues.

Stats don't lie.

I would think it's due more to the fact that no one has master recordings of the old songs that can be separated into vocals, drums, etc. If the master track is available I would think that is what they would use. Are there any songs in GHIII that are originals but are in Rock Band as covers? I'm pretty sure the songs that overlap are all the same...

I am disappointed most that the songs by Rush are covers. That is the one band that I'd like masters from.

Jukebox Hero out of this pack is a master track in GHIII but cover in Rock Band.

That's not really the argument though. It was asked why one would assume DLC for Rock Band would be covers. When it comes to classic rock, Rock Band leans heavily on covers as history shows. As much as I, and many others, would like it to be the other way around, that's just not the case.

It has me wondering now if the full albums will be master recordings or an entire cover album. If they are covers, they are setting themselves up for failure. No one will pay $20(?) for a cover band album.

I hate to discuss RB in the GH thread, but since this is being discussed here...

I really think Harmonix need to start working on 'hybrid' covers.
The only thing that often prevents a song from being in RB as a master track
is that they don't have the right splits for the drums. There is almost always
going to be separated vox and other instruments, but for drums they need
seperate bass drums, snare, etc so the correct instrument can drop out if
you are playing drums and miss a note. Well why not just re-record only
the drum part? Hell even if you had to redo guitars and or bass at least
use the original vocal track.

I'm sure eventually they will move to this model but the sooner the better.

BTW, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do a cover album. Albums have been
announced specifically as being master tracks.
