The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

if you ment xblaz its 17.xx for a likenew from awd http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00IA2O0W4/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&qid=1414388659&sr=1-3

generally ln from awd is new and sealed in my experience.

Get BB GCU cheap this week, then use it to order them online. 20% off these niche titles is probably your best bet anytime soon. They might go on sale if you wait till Black Friday, but just as easily go out of stock, or be harder to replace if it has shipping damage. Its what I'm doing for Senran Kagura and Tears to Tiara.

Thanks. Got one of the copies of xblaz even though I probably shouldn't with all the stuff coming out in the next couple weeks..

Picked one of these up too... hoping for a sealed copy... but not a big deal if it isn't. I just hate taking off amazon stickers with the condition though... the goo gone works great, but it's still a pain to have to spend a few minutes on each game this way.

I have been a GCU member since July. And I want BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma.

There's a fan translation, but it's incomplete. Looks to be at a playable state, but yeah, an official release would be better.
It's definitely playable as all story related parts are translated. There's a few untranslated side quests and the newspaper articles if I remember correctly.

Help a brother out: Freedom Wars, preorder or not? I've been waffling hard on this game. I've always wanted to get into a Monster Hunter game (yes I know this is a clone) but the last time I tried was on the PSP and that camera... It looks decent enough but I haven't seen any reviews yet and I would like to get the bonus goodies if I'm going to pick this one up anytime soon.

Should I just skip it and wait for the Monster Hunter that's coming to 3DS next year?

Wait for it to hit $15 or less. By all accounts it appears to be one of the worst hunting games on the Vita, which is saying something considering how awful Soul Sacrifice Delta was. Save your money and time for Monster Hunter 4.

Soul Sacrifice wasn't a bad game. People keep expecting these hunting games to be carbon copies of Monster Hunter when they play a lot different. And I agree if he's just looking for a straight Monster Hunter game might as well just wait for 4.

Was Delta not good? I liked the little bit of the original release that I played.

I've heard a lot of good buzz about Freedom Wars, but pre-release buzz doesn't always mean a good game is coming. I just wish we would get a Monster Hunter game for Vita already. Trophies are just the incentive I need to get into that franchise.

I'm not necessarily looking for a pure Monster Hunter game (especially since I haven't invested more than a few hours into the franchise in the past decade-I wouldn't even know if it's a straight clone or not), just looking for a fun game.

From what I gathered most people had complaints that the game was too hard. I think I read that there a big patch which also added Internet co op. So the game should be a different experience than what people had at the Japanese launch. I guess the only way to really know is to wait for impressions. I think the digital version allows a week to purchase the game to get pre order bonuses.

I liked Toukiden, have you considered that? I got it for like 15 bucks and it's been pretty fun.

Soul Sacrifice is a great game. That guy is trolling or just wrong.

Picked it up for $17 when Gamefly had it on sale a little while ago. If I hadn't just started playing FFX I'd probably toss that cart in. Might go ahead and shuffle it in anyway.
I've never been huge into these kinds of games so I was really helped out by the tutorials and training missions. It's really easy to pick up and play for 20 minutes.

Cool. I'll try shuffling it in between FFX and My Singing Monsters tonight. I have no idea how I got hooked on the latter, but it's my first 100% in a while I think and I don't think I'm going to stop playing it for at least a few more weeks.

I will curse anyone that doesn't whine at every single person on their steam friends list to buy it until they cave and buy it.

I mean if it sells a million copies day 1 surely VC2 would come out on PC as well, and if that also sells a ton then 3 obviously would come out... and then they could make a 4 :p

i lost hope on sega, i am just hoping some day sony buys sega, due to bankruptcy of sega or something.

Psh. VC HD Collection pls.

Yeah right. Lol

But Sega owns Atlus now. Sega must survive. I rather have Capcom go bankrupt.

Opinions, how do they work?

About the only good part of the game was dressing up my avatar as a badass, bloodthirsty bitch (coincidentally this is also why I'm suffering through Lightning Returns right now). The Evil/Good/Neutral system sucked (really? tying weapon drops to your alignment?), the battles were unbalanced, and the levels were overwhelming (I mean there were way too fucking many of them for anyone with completionist tendencies to handle). When the only way to progress in a timely manner is to go online and leech off of groups doing Alice runs, there's something fundamentally broken with the game.

I planned to throw a bunch of time to the game (since I bought it at launch thanks to opinions in this thread) but ended up dropping it when I realized after a night of grinding that I had accomplished absolutely nothing in the time.

While Monster Hunter is a flawed series, it's a whole lot better than any of its knock-offs I've played.

Have you seen the Steam thread here? I put in recommendations for games and nearly all of them but a very small handful actually consider purchasing it. At least until it reaches hefty discounts. They're basically slightly varying levels of Scrooge McDuck over there.

In case you hadn't figured it out, my Steam friends list is comprised of mostly CAGs. Many of which frequent the Steam thread. It'd be like pulling teeth.

sega has been doing great on the PC front though... they are one of the japanese companies actually pushing PC stuff and in general have been doing well as long as you ignore their localization work of phantasy star >.>;

Beyond that, while sony is likely at the top of my console maker list right now... In general for the industry it's much better with a third party making games for all platforms then exclusives are. Beyond that odds are much much MUCH higher microsoft would buy out sega before sony could because microsoft has a lot more money... and sega is likely well out of the price range of sony as sega itself is worth quite a bit and are currently very very successful and in much better shape then sony as a company.

>.>

That's a good threat for my friends... if you don't buy it I will pull out your teeth one by one until you do.... most of my friends are friends with each other so after I pulled some teeth from my least favorite friend the rest would fall in line MWA HA HA HA HA >.>

obviously kidding :p

And I get having issues talking people into buying the game when it releases... but it should be pretty easy in most cases when it hits 75% off... as a lot of those people who don't buy steam games unless they are on sale, then turn around and buy a ton of games while they are on sale and never play them... the end result usually is they spend more on games they never play then if they had bought only games they would enjoy and play on day one :p

This. I can see it already. Silver Trophy - "Eye of the Tigrex" - Kill a Tigrex without being damaged by it once.

One can dream, but Nintendo pretty much has a lock on Monster Hunter / Crapcom. Wouldn't be surprised if a Monster Hunter character became playable for Smash lol

Monster Hunter is on Vita in Japan, no? I think there's always a decent chance to see it come stateside.

Um it is not.

Closest you'll get to Monster Hunter on Vita is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Still one of my favorite games of all time!

Besides the ones on PSP, Monster Hunter Frontier is the only one. It also sucks.
Thanks guys that clears up absolutely nothing. There is not one release, only Freedom Unite, only Frontier? Unless those two are the same game but called different things in different regions? All I know is I found two releases on Play-Asia so I assumed they were actual games and not vaporware: Monster Hunter Frontier and Monster Hunter Frontier G6. Are they the same game? Either way that should mean there is at least the one release, no? Quality of the game is secondary to this argument.
