Josh, Quick side question to everything is K-mart carrying DC Universe tomorrow? Either reg or CE on either PS3 or PC?
PS3 only, regular edition. Should be there.
Not to get all squishy here, but I like how this is working out with the community. KMart is making an awesome effort to woo our hard earned dollars. It worked. And, of course, like all well laid plans, things still went somewhat wrong. But rather than throw the baby out with the bathwater like so many others and just shut the whole thing down, KMart solicits our feedback and mixes it with their own to figure out how to make this whole thing continue to be win-win.

Other retailers should take note. They probably won't, but they should. Well played, KMart, well played indeed.
Thanks bud, the community's feedback will always matter.

Just like coupons, people will plan there SYWR points. You don't go to kmart with out planing with your coupons?? Were all CAG and we want to save money. So changing it to SYWR isn't going to change much. Only problem i have with it is using only a little bit of the cash, instead of it all.

At the same time, retailers who throw out the babies with the bathwater, so to speak, keep people from taking advantage of them.

In any case, I'm sort of numb to the possible changes, because most of the deals I'd look forward to are post-Killzone 3.

so I should wait a week and pick up Dead Space 2/LBP2 at the same time?

Or can I get LBP2 then bring the receipt in and get half off of Dead Space 2?
Wow...I think I'm going to skip Kmart as well :(....

I think the best option wud be to have unique one time use coupon codes...Is that too hard for your IT guys to implement????

SYWR sucks because sometimes we forget about it and the kmart employees don't even bother asking about it at all (At BB I have always been asked, do you have a rewards card?)...and also once I bought a game from Kmart.com and it was supposed to come with 25000 points. But I did not get any points, bought the same game at the store(got the points this time), and then returned the Online purchased game, and it just took off the 25000 points from my account..assuming it was bought at the store/and returned at the store...eventho I had the online receipt when returning..I had a tough time calling more than a few times to get it back.....and also SYWR is not accurate, dependable & reliable and some of us have had problems in the past...

Just my .02...
I don't think we should rule out a viable option because sometimes you forget. Stop being stupid.

I've been having major problems trying to get 2 of the $15 coupons redeemed on the website. I just noticed this post. I'm hoping to get things resolved. I wish I'd seen these post before calling/emailing customer service 4 times. Why is this information not on the website and why is the site so buggy?
Excactly what I requested but the emailed receipt option is considered a higher priority than my area.....
There's a higher priority than the gaming department?!? Blasphemy!!!

Personally, I get enough junk in my email. I don't need receipts in there too.
so I should wait a week and pick up Dead Space 2/LBP2 at the same time?

With the latter part you would have to return and rebuy with DS2 to get half off. Its best to get it on the same transaction when they both come out.

Exactly, if you know the game is going to give you say $25 in points then you should know to use the card. If a person doesn't its their own fault, its not like its all that complicated especially when you go for a specific deal.

Ok i just came onto the site and saw that it is crazy right now. What happened and how does this affect the coupon offers for jan and the future? So there will be no coupons for dead space 2 and me2 now? And our all of our coupons currently in our possession still allowed to be used? I will start looking at previous posts now but just wanted to write this first to try to get an idea more quickly thanks.
Excactly what I requested but the emailed receipt option is considered a higher priority than my area.....
In what way is getting an emailed copy of your receipt any good when every time I've gone to Kmart, I get a paper receipt anyway? The first thing I do with the emailed receipt is make sure it matches what I got at the store (for example, make sure I'm not missing any coupons or anything), and if it matches up, it gets trashed from my email.

It's pretty sad a corporation thinks that giving customers a digital copy of something they already have is of higher priority than keeping customers in your store. Then again, I don't have a business degree (although, for some reason I doubt some of your higher-ups have one).
SYWR would be the best from now on. I never had a problem and its easy to use and less a pain.
I like SYWR points being the solution. I think it's right now the easiest solution.
Plus, sometimes you can get get lucky and combine points you receive from a purchase with a bonus points offer. For example, a few weeks ago they were having 10x points week. My dad got a new battery for his motorhome, and I got $14 in rewards points. Win-win for the store (they got a purchase), my dad (he got a battery he needed, and it was a good price), and me (I got rewards points).

Again, while it sucks that KH is losing its coupon deal, I think that the fact that, amid these problems, we're still being asked for feedback and everything shows that Kmart is at least trying to please us. That's pretty damn rare.

Josh, thanks for what you do. Like I said before, I'm still debating picking up KH: ReCoded from you guys. Now it's just down to a matter of logistics. I don't have any use for a Toys R Us gift card (I'd likely just give it to my nephews or something).

Is there anyway that you can do a deal on KH:ReCoded in the near future? If not, that's cool.

The first rule of CAG is read before posting. If you had read, you'd have all of your answers already.

I agree. If it goes to SYWR points only, it's up to the customer to go "oh hey, there's a deal on this involving my SYWR card. I should probably remember to have them scan it, so I get the deal."

If you're not mentally capable of doing so, then I think that pretty much any alternative that Josh and crew come up with will be too difficult to comprehend.

Ok and i really have time to sit here for a half an hour find where he posted all the information with all the chaos going on? and you know the answer but will not just give me a yes or no? Wow real mature and what a way to welcome a new member!

I like the ideas behind SYWR points, but I have not had much luck with it in the past. About a week ago, I finally got my SYWR bonus points from the Black Ops deal. I don't want to be sending emails to customer service and waiting 2 months each time I buy a game.

Done. Just spent my last $20 coupon from Epic Mickey (FYI they expire Sat.) on $20 PSN card which fortunately was $20 and not $19.99 like the MS1600 points card. finito

Thanks to everyone on this forum. The main thing I learned is NOT to buy games at release at MSRP. So many games dropped in price, many sales at TRU and Amazon. Clearance at Target (S&P Succsoor and WKC for $12.48 each) and the monthly Gamefly sales. While my coupon train - Ensaved, Wi Party, Kirby, Pokepark, Mickey - surely saved me $ I'm not sure how much over all the other options. Patience is a virtue and it can put money in your wallet as well.

Wow, just read through all the new posts, sucks to hear about the coupon deals being cancelled for this month, but it's exciting to hear some of the newer deals coming down the pipe like the 4 week ME2/LBP2 50% second game. I'm really hoping Dead Space 2 gets some extra love as I was really banking on that $25 off coupon for me to use on Killzone 3 next month, best of luck to you Josh in sorting this out!

You joined in September. You have been a registered member for 4 months. You stopped being a new member 3 months ago.

It's not that much reading, I promise. If you don't have half an hour to read, that's your problem. Josh posted the answer to your question twice already, and one is within 20 posts of yours.

That's not "a half hour" of reading.

I agree. I have no problems whatsoever with my SYWR card and actually just cashed in $130 on it on a recent purchase. Works for me great!

Yes I joined in September but only just started using the forums today with the coupon issue being posted at the top. Up until today i would just come on look at the deals and sign off. So in terms of using the forum i am new.
May have exaggerated on the reading but it is hard to find a specific post when you have no idea where it is was my point. May have been helpful for you to say it was only within 20 posts beforehand.

Ok glad to see existing coupons are still allowed to be used because i have my last couple i am planning to use for mass effect 2 next week.

Josh since February is a short month is ther ANY posible way to extend the LBP deal thru february? Killzone 3 comes out the 22nd, and it'd be KILLER DEAL to get lbp and killzone for b1g1 deal.... so what do you say???
You have just confirmed part of the reason why I feel like humanity is doomed.
And you have confirmed that you're a jerkbag. Oh noes, a thousand apologies intertubes master for my faux pas.

DC Universe Online is the title I was referring to, but of course you knew that.

Josh, I don't know if you'll acknowledge this reply, but I figured I should say something regarding the current status on the DS2 deal:

Whether or not you decide to include an older Visceral game for free w/ DS2 (e.g. DS1 or Dante's Inferno, as was suggested in an earlier post) or do something different altogether, I think it would be even better if you could keep the $25 deal in terms of SYWR (so 25,000 bonus points). I'm currently saving for the 3DS launch in March, and the fact that a relative gave me a $100 Sears gift card for Christmas coupled with the 1-year expiration on SYWR points would potentially clinch my 3DS purchase at Kmart!

Additionally, I could then use the $30 in coupons that expire the week DS2 comes out on DS2. This is a real issue for me since I'm probably one of the few hardcore gamers who doesn't care much for LBP2, at least not until much later, if/when it drops in price.

My point was the fact that the answer was in the post right before yours, not because you abbreviated the title.

Since other people got what I was referring to, I'll just take that as evidence I was correct in my thinking.

Would have thought a simple answer would be best solution. I can kinda see the want to do electronic receipts and offers from corporate viewpoint. But anytime the printing of coupons is left in consumers hands it will be abused. If the offers, including coupons were given a specific number in the system and a line of code added that offer number 1 (for example, but being whatever # the coupon offers would be assigned) would not be included in the email sent. Then people get receipt and the wanted offers but no coupons to multi print.

Here you go.
I just fired off your suggestion. I'm hoping it sticks!

All it would say in big bold letters. "Do not accept printed versions of this coupon upon pain of death." or something like that :) Should curb issues until the fix.
Hope this comes to be since I'm trying to get LBP2CE so can't wait for DS2 for b1g1 half off deal

Hmmm. There seem to be about 6 coupon issues and not one easy fix.

If you decide to go the points way instead of the coupons, is there a way to deduct the bonus points if the game is returned?

You also said that you couldn't stop the emailing of receipts, but isn't there some way to just email the receipt and not anything afterwards, kinda like a page break? There was one week I got 4 of 5 seperate emails for one purchase; the receipt, the coupon, the dishnetwork ad, another ad for bonus points or something and I think there was one more - seems like that is something that could be controlled.

Would it be possible to require all coupons to have a rewards card scanned (I remember one promotion did already), and then just allow one redemption of a specific barcode per card? I guess you could still have people that just get like 10 rewards cards, but it'd be a pretty big pain in the ass.

Dave

Man, this whole situation sucks. A few months ago I posted an almost exact question about this asking how long the coupons would last. I had my fingers crossed and hoped it would continue indefinately. Alas, it was not to be.

Put me in the column of someone who absolutely hates the SYWR program and have nothing but trouble with it. I don't trust the program, their IT dep't, website, tech support, etc. WHat with all the updates, glitches, lost points, etc. I have been told so many different things and have seen the hundreds of posts about problems with the program.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. It seems the simplest solution would be to make the coupons have a unique bar code that can only be used once in the system. Although with Kmart's weakness with technology this probably wouldn't work either.

Anyway, best of luck Josh and there's really no game that was a 1st day buy til the latter part of Feb. Was thinking about DS2, ME2, and LBP2 but with only SYWR I will take a pass.

I trust Josh knows more about the nuances regarding these issues. From my point of view, it so sounds like there's only so much he can do given what he's allowed to do. It's like having a less than optimal or an imperfect system, and you're only allowed to do so much with it, which is why I'm lost in this whole hodgepodge of lunacy. Just kidding.

The only offers i've ever received in my email are the dish network advertisements. None of these email coupons.

As i've mentioned before, using SYWR instead of coupons makes us spend a little more due to SYWR points not deducting the taxable amount. One way to work around that to get the approximate coupon value would be to increase the SYWR multiplier for those specific games. As an approximation, I got 20k + 4x, 25k + 5x, and 30k + 6x. Of course, that may be asking for too much, but when you're asking for the opinions of cheap asses, you'll get these kinds of results.

Now, when it comes to instant points, are those instantly removed if you were to ever return the game? Like with WalMart, i've had people take advantage of their GC promos by buying an item, then buying the same item with the gift card offer, then returning the first item and keeping the second item, second gift card plus the additional discount they received from the first gift card. Associates in CS don't seem to give a damn about any promos like those. Now with Kmart, it'd be something like what BB is trying to avoid with their rewardzone points. Unless the points are just a general pool and never tied to specific transactions.

I'm also interested in how that ME2 deal is going to work on the 30th. Would it come out to $45 + 59.99 - 30? Or is the overlap purposely done in case any ME2 is left in stock? Hell, if you were to buy both a copy of ME2 and LBP2, would both games receive 50% off, would there be another open slot, or would one of the 50% offs just be voided due to already being in the transaction?

I know this has probably been asked already, too many pages to look through, will Kmart be carrying the collector's edition of MvsC3? And, will the $20 credit apply to it, as well?
With the latter part you would have to return and rebuy with DS2 to get half off. Its best to get it on the same transaction when they both come out.
That's awful. There should be a coupon to get half off the next game you buy. There's no guarantee I could get LBP2 the week that Dead Space 2 is available, and it's a HUGE chance because all of my coupons expire on the 28th. Sigh.

So then you don't get to buy both and take advantage of a deal, tough shit, pick another game.

Are we 'preordering' when we email stockboy with our the game we are looking for and the store's address? I am really after the the LBP2 CE!!

No, you are not. All you are doing is telling them that you would be interested in seeing copies of the game at your local store. The system is just so the SHC team can gauge interest and try and make sure that certain stores get enough stock for those interested.

As for the LPB CE, store allocation was done weeks ago. If you're just now messaging him, it's not going to change what stores get what.
So then you don't get to buy both and take advantage of a deal, tough shit, pick another game.
I have to agree with this 100%.

Although, I also have to point out that a lot of the "problems" that some people are having ("oh no, my coupon expires 2 days before XXX game releases") are solved by those two words.

Yeah, you're right. I'm being greedy.

It's still frustrating, though.. I know that Dead Space 2 comes out on the 25th.. but I have a feeling they won't put it out until the week after :(

I got some info on the LBP 2 CE allotment and I can give you a few details.

- 792 copies for 1308 stores
- Most stores that are getting them are getting 2 copies
- 910 stores are not getting any copies
- the allotment is heavily skewed towards NY/NJ/PA where more than half the stores are getting them
- The Pacific NW (where I am) is getting almost none (1 out of 10 or 15 stores)

This is all the info I have - hopefully that helps a few people plan accordingly. I will be sticking with my Amazon preorder and not even worrying about tracking one down at Kmart, which is too bad since I have $80 in coupons to use. I'm not sure what I'll get with those now.

^^ wow very scarce for something so heavily sought after. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it and thanks Atlantis for the quality answer..Ill know for next time
- 792 copies for 1308 stores

That's stupid. I know they're using data from past CE sales to decide what stores get stock of the LBP CE and how many they get, but LBP is a title marketed for everyone, so you can't really use data on sales of CE's like Halo Reach and Assassin's Creed for a game like this. I'm going to miss out on a LBP2 CE because Fatso McHoarderton grabbed three Halo Reach Legendary Editions at some K-Mart in NY to try to turn a profit on.
