League of Legends anyone?

oo, mr fancy mouse :D

Another tip:

Learn to last hit (basically ONLY hitting the minion when they have low hp)

You only get gold from them if you are the last one to hit them

You can autoattack the minions, but make sure to get the last hit

Best strategy to start learning is to NOT autoattack. Autoattacking minions pushes the lane, you don't want to do that early game.

If you learn to ONLY hit minions when you are going for the last hit, you get more money of course, but you don't risk pushing your lane too far, risking ganks or pushing up to their tower and feeding them easy minion kills without any ability to kill them.

Of course while you do this you will want to try and harass the enemy champion(s) in your lane so they can't get last hits. This leads to you getting more last hits, forcing the enemy away from last hits, and keeping the minions mid lane so you can farm longer.

It takes alot of practice and clicking, you have to click to move to break the auto attack cycle but this is also a good practice because a moving target is a live target.
Autoattack? Theirs a key for that?
Auto attack is to click a minion to attack and then not click anything else, your Champ will continue to attack that minion until it is dead and then moves to the next closest minion and continues to attack.

i dont know if there is an autoattack key, but if you just attack something, you will continue to do so until you command your champ to move or do something else.

Some key words to know that you might hear your teammates say in a game:

mia (bot, top, or mid) = missing in action. Means the enemy is not on the map, so beware that they might come for you.

b = hit 'b' on your keyboard to recall to your base to heal/shop

You should learn to type mia (area) too. If you are bottom and an enemy is off the map for a few moments, just type in mia bot so people know. Pinging the map also helps. I usually ping the crap out of a map if an enemy is gone missing. I think 'g' is to ping. I dont know, im at work and its just all natural when im playing. Pinging the map makes a ping sound :)

You will see there is a 'jungle' between lanes with some monsters

The golem with the blue swirly thing gives great mana regeneration and cooldown reduction (makes your abilities come faster)

The golem with the red swirly thing gives you a buff that slows the enemies when you attack them.

There is a dragon in the bottom right of the map by the river that gives some good gold

And there is a HUGE MONSTER (named Baron) in the top left of the map by the river that gives your whole team a big buff (makes em stronger) if you kill them.

Do not solo the Baron or the dragon (usually), you need your team :)

In the shop, under consumable items, there is a green item called a ward

It gives you vision of the map. To try it out, go the in the river and place a ward. You and your team will have vision of that area for the duration of the ward. It is VERY VERY helpful to know if you are going to get ganked (enemy comes from the side to kill you) and to just know where enemies are.

Try this for an Ashe build (this is the build people always get): Dorans Blade (attack damage), Berserkers greaves (movement), infinity edge (attack, critical strike), phantom dancer (i think in the attack speed section), then you can get a Banshee's Veil (defense, magic resist) or a Last Whisper (i think its in attack speed section).

That is the staple Ashe build.

And go to youtube and look for a user called GeneralWiser

He adds games from the top LOL players. You learn a LOT by watching and how they play. Search for the champ you like to play and just watch their strategies and how they use the champ.

Its what helped me :D

Im sure in 1-2 days, you will be better than icedrake and waughoo anyway.

And listen to this advice. Learn to last hit now, and you will be better than 85% of the LOL population by the time you are level 10
I really dont understand whats the big deal about last hit? is their some sort of advantage besides gold?
Well, it makes it so you aren't constantly pushed up on the enemies towers, open for ganks.

you guys use big words, gotta explain it to the new guy more easy!

Ok. So lets say they have a jungler. Remember that the junglers job is to kill people in other lanes?

Well, if you keep autoattacking the minions, eventually you will end up at the enemy tower.

Now, that jungler is thinking "Oh boy, look how far away he is from his tower, he will never be able to run back to the tower if i come and try to kill him!!!"

BUT if you only do last hits you will either stay in the middle of the lane OR by your tower (if the enemy likes to always auto attack).

NOW the enemy jungler is thinking "oh crap, now i cant help the middle lane since the enemy is all safe by his tower."

Now, if the lane is pushed to YOUR tower, feel free to autoattack a little to protect your tower, but make SURE to get last hits. Lets say each minion gives 10 gold. And you have 20 more last hits than your opponent. That is an extra 200 gold in your pocket against your enemy.
I really dont understand whats the big deal about last hit? is their some sort of advantage besides gold?
Basically early game you want to keep the minion waves about halfway between your tower and the enemies, or a tad closer to your tower. This way if another enemy comes to gank you, you're close enough to your tower to escape. At the same time you are keeping your enemies further away from their tower so they have less chance to escape.

ONLY last hitting minions helps do this by not causing them extra damage from auto attacks. Also whenever you last-hit a minion, you get the gold for that kill. Gold is REALLY important for most characters because obviously more gold = more items. However if you're laning with your team's carry, and you're a support or tank, you may want to let them get most of the last hits because having them stronger is more useful than you. In these cases you want to just support your carry as much as possible and try to keep the enemies from getting last hits.

Now in a case where you are SURE you dont have to worry about ganks, you should auto attack and push the lane as much as possible. This way you force the enemy under their tower. The tower will now steal many of the minion kills, denying them gold. And obviously you're now doing more damage to their tower. Just watch out for incoming enemies (BUY F@$*ING WARDS!), listen for MIA calls, watch for warning pings on the mini map.

Thats basically "The big deal" in a nutshell. I however just ignore all that and kill everything that moves ;)

Gasp, waughoo had a better explanation!!

OH, and for the longest time i didnt know what the hell a 'carry' meant

Basically, its the champion that will do the most damage and "carry" the team to victory.

You like playing Ashe. Ashe is an AD carry (AD = attack damage). Some champs use ability power (AP), so they would be an AP carry if they are designed to do lots of damage to the enemies.

When I made the post, your post was on top of mine, so I was refearing to yours : p, but both of you had great explanation, thank you
I really dont understand whats the big deal about last hit? is their some sort of advantage besides gold?
Last hitting is immensely important as Waughoo pointed out. It's the main income of gold early game. When I first started playing, I rarely ever last hit and it showed. Then I played Nasus (he has to get last hits to make his Q spell more powerful) and it made a huge difference.

Also, you mentioned earlier how you don't get many kills. Don't worry about that. I remember when I was first playing, I'd have a crappy KDA. As you play, you learn when to go for kills, when to push lanes, etc. and it will reflect in your score.

i actually much prefer to constantly attack to push into their tower and score a couple hits on it while making it more difficult for them to last hit when they have to compete with the tower.

of course i also ward my side of the map when i'm doing this. i also know what all the champs do and which ones i can safely do this against, but if everyone is accounted for, i say push it into the tower. now they have to worry about your harass AND trying to get last hits while that tower takes out massive chunks.

Me, CK, and Duskwraith just had an awful game we won. Our Leona was rushing Trinity Force and our Teemo fed early. However, their Malz built no AP and built 2 Banshee Veils after their Vayne rage quit. It's fun to win games you shouldn't.

Just started playing a couple of days ago (only Coop matches so far) and been using Tristana since I could get her for free through Facebook. I'm starting to get the concept of last hitting down, but half the time I'm still leaving minions with a sliver of health and letting my minions get the kill.

Feel free to add me, Genocydal. And if anyone has an extra retail copy, I'd be happy to buy it off of you, even just the champion unlock if you used the points.

It's almost always more beneficial to zone when you are in control of a lane, instead of pushing to tower. They can't last hit until the wave finally reaches their tower, and there's a good chance you can zone them out of experience as well. Constant pushing gives them more waves to farm while worrying less about harass, given the tower. And a ward isn't going save you from a gank if you're pushed to tower.

Also, if any new players want to play, I'm down. Add holdthephone. I'll help you learn without making you jaded and senile.

The retail copy just comes with one card with a single code that unlocks the champs, runes, skin and RP. So they can't be seperated.

Best place to pick it up retail though is Best Buy, only $19.99 which would cost you around $30 if bought through the in game store.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/League+...dows/9460727.p?skuId=9460727&id=1218108382862

Can't order it online for shipping, but you can ship to a store. You can also still find these in the store, I just picked one up yesterday.

For some reason BB has the best price on this, it's $29.99 at Amazon.

Thanks for the tip, none of the local stores are available for ship to store, so I might head up and check BB/TRU/GS out this weekend. Funny story about Amazon: I asked three of the used sellers if the product came with the code. Two of them pulled their listing and the third responded and said it did -- after they raised the price 6 bucks. At that point I'm not going to buy it on principle.

Tried out Leona last night. Things were going terrible until I figured out that Q and W were more or less spammable, then it was fun to pick off strays and watch my teammates go to town. Also got my first ace with a lucky Zenith Blade!

If you go to Best Buy, they have it in-store for $30 but $20 on the site. Make them match that price (what I did). Usually Amazon's is around $20, they're only listing 3rd party sellers so don't bother.

I just had a fun game as Warwick, want to try getting good with him. Got a good gank top early and got the turret with the help of our Singed (who had to mid since we had a lousy team comp). Our mid game was awful, got aced a few times b/c I couldn't get in range to ult their Miss Fortune. We got Baron, then 3 or 4 of us died. Then their MF was pissed at them and just farmed sidelanes. So we got some kills. Then got Baron, I ulted MF and it was GG from there since we pushed into their lane and just started killing them as they respawned.

Warwick is so awesome when he's tanky, he heals so friggin much when he gets Visage.

I bought it yesterday, it rang up 19.99 in store. Even has a $19.99 price tag on it.

You guys see Riot wants to nerf supports and their heals? Apparently they don't like the support+carry lane that has become standard. They don't like how you can't harass in the lane because of the healer and don't think it's fun.

You know what's not fun? Crowd control. How can I have fun when I can't move, attack, or use spells?

Isnt watching you're character hold still while their health bar drops fun? Theres lots of bright colors and stuff till you die.

Is there any way to combat that? Was playing a bot match last night with an Annie and Cho'Gath in lane and loved getting stunned by Annie followed by airborne, silence, and death as I had no way to escape from the slow and no way to fight back without abilities. By far the most frustrating game I've played to date.

You can not combat Cho'gaths pop-up.

You CAN combat annie's stuns with mercury tread boots or other tenacity items (it lowers the time of the crowd control).

Tenacity reduces the duration of Crowd Control effects by a percentage. Having 25 Tenacity means Crowd Control effects on that champion will last for 25% less time. The same way, having 35 Tenacity results in 35% reduced Crowd Control duration. Only the duration of the effects is affected.

Tenacity WILL NOT HELP WITH: Knockback, Knockup, Suppression

thanks for the headsup on HoN, only played a little in beta and can't remember if i liked it or not.

all i remember is that it looked like a graphical mess, so i went back to DotA

Most people say no. He has a bug with his Q. It's supposed to shred 30% of armor, but it's only shredding 30% of base armor which is at most 18 armor (absolutely nothing on a tank). Wait until he's free to try him out, he'll probably be buffed by then.

Yeah, that armor reduction bug also exists on Jarvan, Kayle, etc... Any champ that has an ability which reduces armor only reduces the base. It's incredibly broken (in a bad way) and has been for awhile. Riot, as usual, refuses to acknowledge it.

How long have you had those Flip? Cause I'm reading a bunch of reviews where they went to shit after a couple months. Also it sounds like theres a lot of white noise on them when you're out of game, do you get any with them plugged in but when you're not running a game?

I went on a hunt for my old Antec Lansings I used to have, cause those were awesome. Unfortunately they dont make them anymore, and the ones I can still buy new are like 7 years old.

I'm using a cheap-o pair of Logitechs I got from Gamestop for like $20. The foam on them has disintegrated, and I'm losing the left side sound if I mess with the volume too much. I want a decent pair if I'm gonna spend money on new ones.

I've had them for a few months. If you dont remember, I bought a set at amazon, was going to return it, but then my dog ate it so i couldnt return it. I got these instead.

I did have a part from the headset that my dog ate that lets me connect both the microphone and headphone cord into a USB, which just plugs into the USB port.

I never hear any white noise. I will use them tonight and try it again just to be sure. But the quality seems really good and so does the sound. Maybe the USB part plays a role into why i dont hear white noise.
So is Wukong worth the ip?
Wukong is really fun. I wrote about him a few posts ago.

Basically you need a bottom lane with someone that has CC or good burst damage

Flippr and I were in an interesting game. I was Warwick in jungle. We had Singed top, Nunu (Flippr) mid against Cass. Our bot was Garen and Monkey King vs their Taric and Cait. Their jungle was GP.

We thought, "Shit, we have no range to combat bot, no champ to mid, and a top that's hard to kill."

It didn't help that they were all getting wards, too. I got First Blood about 12 min in when I went to their red and got their GP. Early on we'd die a lot. We got one good fight in at mid and killed them, though I died while GP barely escaped.

We got another good fight in and their Cait rage quit and I think Taric went AFK, so we just pushed lanes, got baron, and they surrendered.

It was a tough game since we had a shit team comp. When I saw it'd take forever for our lanes to farm, I knew it would come down to me being an at least decent jungler in ganking, pushing, and getting dragon. And once we got tanky, there wasn't much we can do.

I also HATE that GP can use his W to get out of my suppression. Cleanse, fine. But suppression is supposed to be the most powerful CC in the game and only 2 exist.

I been pondering this for the last 20 minutes. I am about to purchase my first champion, I have 1,400 IP. I am leaning towards either Tryndamere or Singed. I really want the hero to be able to Solo. Any suggestions? or even sugessions outside of those two are welcomed.

I decided and bought Tryndamere over Singed (Though I had several sugestions from others, that he is a better choice). I only had 1,400 IP, and I wanted a strong Melee Solo champion, Does this build look good for Tryndamere?

Infinite Edge
Berserker Grieves
Ghostblade
Bloodthirst

not sure what I can add to those 4 items (I need two more items for ideas)

Needs lifesteal. When I play Trynd, I rush a Wriggles, then Grieves, followed by an IE. Those three items will let you rape hard, especially with the new Trynd. Phantom Dancer is great too. The last items you can adapt to whatever is needed.

So I started playing NuNu the other night with some buddies and was doing what I feel was decently well. I went with a support/tank sort of build using items like Rod of Ages, Banshee's Veil and Merc. Boots. And if I had the cash endgame I'd get either Sunfire Cape/Force of Nature/Randuin's Omen. But in the past few days, I just noob it up with him like any other hero. For instance I went 9/8/27, 2/3/18 and 10/2/24 just a few days ago. Lately I've been doing 2/3/7, 2/3/5, 1/3/4 and so on.

I sort of know how to play NuNu and use his abilities to help the team. Ice Boly the runners, Blood Boil the DPS, Ult. in a big group and I help our caster get blue in the early game since I have Consume. Does anybody have any other tips on how to play NuNu? I'm tired of sometimes being a burden to my team and wish to carry my weight a little more.

I haven't played Nunu in a long time, but build Rabadon's late. Ice Ball has a 1:1 AP ratio and his ult has the highest AP ratio in the game (if it hits that is). Try not to use Blood Boil or Consume when you have your passive up to use a free spell.

If you aren't very good yet, I'd recommend something instead of Bloodthirster since you lose all your stacks upon death (which is possible even with his ult).

Wriggle's Lantern would be good. Grievous Wound if they have a lot of healers/self-heal (ie Warwick). If you want defense, Atma's Imapler and Force of Nature, Quicksilver Sash, or Banshee's Veil (though he's manaless, still worth it for HP and spell shield) are decent. You can also get a Last Whisper if they have a lot of armor.

score is irrelevant to what you're actually contributing to a game. but if you do actually feel that you aren't being effective:

play what your team needs. if you guys have no beefy characters, then the regular items you seem to be getting are fine. if damage is needed, go for a death cap or something after Rod of Ages. Playstyle is pretty damn simple for him. if you're tanky, then you start the fights and run into the ideal spot to ult, a decision that can win or lose you a team fight. if you're more damage focused, let someone else do their job as the initiator before you run in and do pretty much the same thing.

Really just run around and ice people if you're laning or ganking. He's Nunu, there's not much too him or any other LoL character for that matter, whether you're a top player or not.
