Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts

Man I dunno if I want to get this game just seems like you play through it and thats it. Might wait for gamefly to have it in stock.
May be the first time I've ever agreed with you ;). I find the CAG game completion time estimate thread to be particularly hilarious. I think I take, on average, twice the time a "normal" CAG takes. So maybe Mass Effect will be worth it to me as I ought to get a good 30-40 hours out of it.
We have a game completion time thread?

Had already planned to spend a ton of time on this. Good to know that there will be achivements dangled in front of me like a carrot should I need any motivation. :applause:

Anybody know if this game is going to be region locked? I bought a 360 in Japan while studying abroad, and it's run every game I've tried to play on it (with the exception of Fight Night, stupid EA), but--as much as I'm looking forward to this--I don't want to waste $60 on a game I can't play.

Your best bet (but it will take longer) most likely would be to order the Asian version from playasia.com. I would just double check though, it usually says in the product description on playasia.
From that link:

In the US and Canada the Limited Collector's Edition is ONLY available through online orders. It will NOT be sold in stores.

What am I missing? You have the same opportunity to get the LE as Americans.
They edited it since I first looked at it today.

Only retailers in the list so far up here is EB (no online store in Canada) and BB (not in their system) :\

amazon?

I'm not really sure which class I will play as. I usually play as the basic class first (combat) but I might try one of the others since I loved using the force in both KOTORs.

All Asian version 360 games will run on your console.
Too bad you didn't order earlier...the pre-order price was $40 until very recently.

Anyone else not have any audio on the "inside mass effect" section of the pre-order disc? Every other video plays fine with audio, and there's sound on all the menus, but that particular featurette is silent for me.

Try quitting back to the dashboard and/or popping out and reinserting the disc and then try to play it again.

I don't have the disc, but I have heard other people mention the same problem. Some were saying that it might have been a problem with the master disc.

Audio on "Inside Mass Effect" works for me

Ah; sorry, didn't make myself clear...I appreciate the help on that, but I'm trying to find any info on whether a US version will run on my Japanese console. I returned to the US in August and kept my 360 (they would've only given something like $120 for everything, including two games), and so I've been playing American games on it. Nothing except sports games released by EA has given me a problem, but I really want to get ME launch day. Thanks for the help, though, CheapyD!
I got the bonus disc yesterday at Best Buy with $5 deposit for pre-ordering the game. I mainly got it for the free gamerpics/themes. They're ok...just ok.
I finally got mine today (first one got lost in the mail lol) and I agree about the gamerpics. Seems like they were really lazy. If my sig shows up you can see the red outline that each of the pics has. It's really annoying. The themes are decent enough.

Mine has audio.

I was wondering what's the best place to order the LE. I read that GS/EB would definitely ship the LE to arrive on the 20th if I pay $10 s&h. I'm new to these forums, but I remember also reading that there's a "free shipping" code from amazon.com, but it may arrive later, and I heard that amazon messes up/delays orders a lot. That's not really a big deal to me, but, to be brief, my situation is as follows:

I'm a student living in NYC, and my "home" is long island. I'll be home for thanksgiving, but I want to be able to play Mass Effect at my apartment on the 20th. My concerns are: 1) If I order it to my apartment, it may not arrive on the 20th and I'll be away for a few days, and the package would be hanging around loose in the mailroom. 2) If I order it to my house, it's guarenteed I won't be able to start playing until after thanksgiving, and if it doesn't arrive thanksgiving weekend, it'll be a pain in the ass to have to come back to long island to get the game, but I know the package would be "safe at home" at least.

Right now I'm leaning towards ordering from amazon, and having the package shipped to my house. Should I be concerned about the order from amazon arriving on the 24th? Should I be worried about ordering from GS/EB and having it delivered by the 20th? (would they even deliver to an apartment?) What do you think makes the most sense? Thanks, please help a n00b.

This is correct. I had the same problem and a reboot and reinsert of the disc fixed the problem.

And to Binturong, please break up your paragraphs so we can understand your post and answer your questions, thanks.

Binturong, I've ordered from GS/EB using the one day option before when I was living in an Apartment. Unless you've had problems in the past getting one day delivery there, I'd say its very reliable. I usually get my stuff that day as promised, but usually not until 4-5 in the afternoon.
what's with all this sex controversy with the game? Who cares! it's not like sex dosn't happen in space.
yeah and the aliens are asexual anyway so it's not even real lesbianism :(

Does anyone know if the pre-order disc that comes with the regular edition is the same disc that is included with the limited edition? GameStop states that by pre-ordering the regular edition, it comes with a bonus disc filled with bonus pics, trailers, etc.

But it lists the same description for the bonus disc that is included inside the limited edition. So by pre-ordering the limited edition, you get the bonus disc that comes inside the case, and the extra bonus disc that comes with the regular edition, essentially getting the same disc twice?

The reason I want to know is if it is the same disc, I'd rather order from Amazon. But if it is a different disc, I'll cough up the extra $6 and order from GS.

Well...looks like my other games have been put on the back burner for a while. Picked up Mass Effect this morning at K-Mart. This also makes it easier for me to hold off on Assasin's Creed as I was going to use that game as a hold over until Mass Effect came out the next week.

I ordered from lions, so I will have to wait, but I will be the same way. Once Mass Effect gets to my door all other games are put on hold. I'm like half way through a bunch of games to, but I have been waiting for Mass Effect since I bought my 360 at launch.

Just finished the prologue and am loving the game so far. Can't decide though if I want to keep going with the coldier class or go back and take a look at the other classes before I get too far in.

IGN had a podcast about Mass Effect.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/833/833596p1.html

They said that you are able to change you class at some point in the game. Meaning if you wanted to later you could change from soldier to Adept, but they had not done it and did not know whether or not you stats will be changed.
