The controversial Mercenaries 2: World in Flames™ sets the bar for explosive, open-world action games in the next generation. A power-hungry tyrant is interfering with Venezuela's oil supply, sparking an invasion that turns the country into a warzone. This is an opportunity for you. World powers with deep pockets are willing to pay you to create chaos and do their dirty work. Mercenaries 2 features the latest and most dangerous in civilian and military tech, everything from tanks, APCs, boats, shiny new sports cars, to even a satellite-guided bunker-busting mini-nuke. These are your tools, use them well.
You are not a soldier. You are a mercenary. Everyone will try and screw you, given the chance. They think they can get away with it, because they don't know rule number one: Everybody pays.

 • Massive open-ended game world: Larger than all previous Mercenaries combined, the world of Mercenaries 2 is jam-packed with colorful characters and environments.
 • Enhanced destruction: Bring buildings teeming with enemy soldiers down section by section, topple an overpass with C4 to stop an oncoming enemy vehicular assault, fire off an RPG at a balcony and watch as it crashes on unsuspecting enemies below. This destruction isn't just cool, be sure to use it to your advantage!
 • A mercenary's paradise: Recruit other mercenaries to build your own private military company. Each faction has plenty of work for you, from small pick-up jobs to elaborate, multi-objective missions. The world offers over one hundred unique tasks you can take on—if you're interested.
 • Cool new toys: Dozens of weapons, land-based vehicles and watercraft are available for you to use and blow the stuffing out of everything! Use the new grappling hook to latch on to flying vehicles and commandeer them in the sky.
 • Cooperative multiplayer: Play the main campaign with the help of your friends. Jump in and out of a game at any time.

Did anyone else read the forum post that said that IGN had a secret?

I actually woke up early this morning because I thought it would be GTA4. They said, "its not a ping-pong game."

BLAST!

Haha. If the PS3 was actually holding onto the fact that a title hadn't yet been announced for the 360, that's pretty pathetic... then again... I suppose some people might have been holding onto Virtua Fighter 5, too.

I am kind of dissapointed they haven't yet announced wether or not the 360 is getting exclusive content, like with GTA. Oh well.

Here's hoping there's a little more variety in this one. I absolutely loved the first Mercenaries game, but after taking down 2 of the 4 'aces' it got to be a chore and I quit.

Definitely agree.

That's exactly the reason I'm not too impressed with the Crackdown concept (don't get me wrong, the Gameplay is fantastic), which seems to photocopy the Mercenaries idea.

Supposedly this game is more story oriented, especially character driven, hopefully that will mean less "take this guy out... take that guy out... take this guy out... take her out... take him out... take that guy out" gameplay.

I wish they would make another Strike game next. I loved Mercenaries but I really had a blast after I jacked a chopper. It took me back to the Desert Strike on the Genesis.

I LOVED the first Mercenaries....never felt like a chore to me. Probably the first "sandbox" game I ever finished. I'm hoping to finish Saint's Row one day....slowly but surely ;)

SUPRISE! wait a second.................

i'm stoked i no longer will have to get a ps3 to get it, plus lets face it XBlive is SO much better. Now lets get MGS4 over here.

WOOOOOO!!!! I love the original Mercenaries on the Xbox and played it to death.

Im glad I dont have to buy that George Foreman Grill Videogame Machine to
play it on. Heres hoping for some badass online content to keep the game going.

Yo peeps I always just take a look at the post but never contributed but its time now.

Good to see this is coming to 360.

As with other posters, I enjoyed the first game. I do agree with Mr. Unoriginal though, hunting down all the cards in the deck felt tedious after a while.

Good to see theres at least some sort of multiplayer, which the original was lacked
I missed the original, but this one looks great. Probably going to give it a try when it comes out.
Same here

Wish they would make it BC since it can be found for pretty cheap now.

yeah but you knew it was coming:bouncy:

I'm hoping for an entire environmental overhaul.

The first pic in the OP looks promising.

Also the mention of going INTO buildings... SCORE!!!

I hope for Far Cry-like environments to overdeveloped delapidating cities and towns. Basically something COMPLETELY different from the rather bland, lackluster, military style of Mercenaries.

Also I couldn't give two shits about co-op. Like I've said before, games like Crackdown and Mercenaries do NOT lend themselves to co-op, no matter how many fucking times Jeff said they "beg" for it.

Co-Op just DOESN'T work on these types of games. Ever since Halo, co-op has been done to death, and I'm fucking sick of it.
actually i would like co op online..
I'm not saying I wouldn't take it, but the game just doesn't lend itself to such a feature.

Think about it. You're running around and blowing up stuff. Just like in Crackdown your jumping around and running and driving cars fast and exploring things and finding things on your own... it's more of a large experience than a small, intimate one. While co-op is fine, it's limited on the outset by the fact that it simply isn't the type of game that co-op would shine in.

People get so fucking caught up in MP that the HUGE benefits of a SP experience are being overlooked.

It is kinda weird that this game still has so little buzz. I still think it will be huge. Like Crackdown but better, which is saying something.

I beg to differ. I had an insanely fun time with Crackdown's 2-player co-op, and I found it to work incredibly good for a sandbox game. Honestly, how has co-op been done to death..? I don't recall to many co-op games in the past few years.

I personally love co-op, and would like to see it implemented into sandbox games.

It's because it keeps getting delayed

I honestly think more games would benefit from being released over the summer. A lot of kids with a lot of time and summer chore money waiting for new games. Look at Dead Rising's sale numbers for example.

It depends on your audience. The average age of a videogame player is 29 and the average buyer is 36, so summer vacations don't really apply if those stats hold up.

Nintendo should release a ton of games in the summer...I have to presume that their average player age is much younger.

That said, between this, Haze, and Alone in the Dark I think I'll have plenty to play this summer.

Wow...hope to Christ that Mercenaries 2 is better than AITD and Haze!

Hey, don't worry too much. EA's publishing it. I expect The Promo Push to start right...

...about...

...

...now.

Well, okay, probably right around the release of NCAA or Madden (maybe a new trailer on the discs?), but if you watch SportsCenter, expect to be sick of this game two weeks before it ships. Did anyone see how heavy they pushed Bad Company?? Jesus!

What is Pyro smoking saying that co-op isn't meant for crackdown and Mercs 2? Team destruction and cooperation in completing objectives isn't enough for you?

I honestly don't care about no co-op slitscreen (in this day and age, this is a game I would only want to do online) but I'm not liking no flyable aircraft.
