Please do not post referral links in this thread. There are threads for referral links here.
In an older thread everything went to sh*t once it became full of referrals and it was worthless for anything else.
If that starts happening here, I'll delete the thread and be done with it.

Is it automatically $60 for everyone? I can't find a link from this year that states it is $60. Everything I find on the google is old.

Yeah my link is doing showing $60 since monday of this past week, pretty sure everyone's is. To your point, I tried to find an official meta announcement and weirdly couldn't find one from this year. You'd think they'd promote it. Maybe the thinking is the referrals are doing the promotion...

About the "creator link" you posted, this seems to be a new thing and has a weird term in their official TOS, just fyi:
Valid November 29, 2024 (12:00 am PT) - December 31, 2024 (11:59 pm PT). Use a personalized Creator (“Creator”) referral link (“Link”) and earn $60.00 in Quest Cash (“Credit”) when you purchase any new full price Meta Quest Device (“Qualifying Product”)

How are they going to verify full price? That's a funny stipulation to me.

Is this them trying to find a way to compensate web personalities beyond the $600 yearly cap? Or are they referring to creator in a different way (like someone who makes Horizon worlds or actual apps or something)?

I can't imagine anyone exceeding that cap, tbh. I'm no where near it.

I think they are calling youtubers who demo/promote meta stuff creators. I saw another youtuber that does a lot of quest stuff also had the same type link. I don't believe they are trying to work around the compensation limit, I think they already compensate those folks a good bit more than the $600 limit. I have actually hit the limit a couple times. It will be a lot tougher now that they have cut back on the credit you get for game referrals. That was where most of my store credit came from.

It's odd that they are acting like the creator's link is something special when anyone's referral link will give a $60 credit. Though the creator's link is a link to purchase from meta, not exactly the same as a referral link.

Creator links offering more of a per game discount than anyone else I think. 20% compared to 15% from what I've seen.

Where did you go to share your referral link? Unless everyone in your family bought a headset.

Honestly, I just posted it to some of the reddit referral subreddits with a very basic post. Maybe I got lucky, but I had a lot of people go through my link - it worked so well that I ended up deleting the post due to how fast I was getting credit. I didn't want to trip any flags with Meta. The last one I got, when I clicked redeem, I got an error and the money didn't go into my wallet, despite counting toward my $600 max. I figured it was time to stop pushing my luck (but I'm also overly paranoid)

That’s amazing. I can’t seem to get anyone to use my referral. I got a few bites around the launch of the 3, but I just figured that most people were using referrals from actual friends who already had headsets.

To be honest, after learning that it's against the TOS, I kind of regret doing it. I didn't expect the link to be used so quickly. It's nice having a big stock of credits to use, but I feel like I'm walking on eggshells in terms of my account being at risk.

For all our new meta quest friends, amazon has 50% coupon for the Kiwi k4 headstrap with battery, bringing it down to $35. I don't use this headstrap personally, but many people swear by it. This is non halo style, if that matters to you

I already have most of what I’d be interested in from that bundle, but I’ll take the opportunity to recommend the I Expect You to Die games (2 and 3 are available in this bundle), as I always do. One of these days I need to get around to modding and playing Skyrim VR, which I already have, now that I upgraded to a PC with a 4080 Super.

Warning long as hell post tldr at bottom.

What are some of the must have games in ya'lls opinion? Looking for a combination of big and small games. Due to referral and target having a gc on sale we've got $110. I know my wife really wants beatsaber so unless that goes on a sale it's really 80 to shop with. Family of 4 kids are 17 and 9. Us parents are from the nes generation.

I'm hoping I'll get the batman promo and three months quest pass thingy trial despite buying months back because the headset hasn't been activated yet. We have the 3. Also anyone think the major franchise character games (Iron Man, Vader, Ghostbusters) are worth it?

Finally what games get you physically active and really moving around? I was debating ninja legends. The whole family could use some good cardio.

Please no games that are mostly fps except maybe RE 4, something like Doom I'd rather avoid. Believe it or not I've never played Resident Evil 4 so I'm thinking of getting that on top of anything else. I know I've missed a classic but I just never got hardcore into the series due to the tank controls of the original. I do have 0-3 on my Xbox so not sure if I should play those first.

TLDR; need game recommendations both major triple A releases and smaller indie stuff.

You can save up to 20% on some games if you purchase them through this youtuber's site. These recommendations are just my opinion and others may have a totally different list. These are all somewhat active games except for the golf one. They all have a mixed reality mode except for golf, too.

Home Sports
Thrill of the Fight
Walkabout Mini Golf
Eleven Table Tennis
Just Hoops
Smash Drums

Walkabout Mini Golf is currently available with your Quest+ sub, so I'd put off buying that, but It's a game I've enjoyed quite a bit. Here is a list of the games that are currently on the Quest+ roster of games. I Expect You to Die 2 and Moss are the monthly Quest+ games that will leave at the end of the month. I also love Space Pirate Trainer that is on quest+, as well. I'd also check out this page with free games and apps. I haven't played Ghostbusters, but Iron man and Vader Immortal are solid games. I'd want a sale on them before I'd suggest them for purchase, though. Hopefully meta will have a decent holiday sale pretty soon. The wife may want song packs for Beat Saber, too. That can add up quickly. Have fun and feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.

As always Wampler's got your back, there's a lot of agreement with my perspective over here.

Assuming this is a holiday present it sounds like you're planning this anyway, but I'd recommend you open your Quest, go through registration, and make sure it's charged before the big day. These sorts of gifts are a real patience test when the kiddo opens it to find it has 20% charge, an initial setup/user registration process, and then a ton of game downloads and updates that have to happen first.

Okay, ganes:
You can buy Beat Saber with an app referral link or a welcome code and save 20%, minimum. Beat Saber goes on sale Very rarely, but it could happen this holiday season. The youtuber link from wampler has a discount code for Beat Saber. That game can be a pretty good workout, better as you increase difficulty. If you're from the NES era, you save roughly 18% buying the Brittney Spears pack bundled with Beat Saber, so better to buy the app with a code, then the song bundles you want.

My absolute favorite game is Space Pirate Trainer. It's like a first person space Invaders. It's miraculously on Quest+ right now. So is Walkabout Golf which is the other game people absolutely adore. Activating your 3 month Quest+ trial this month will put Moss and I Expect You to Die in your "permanent as long as you have a Quest+ sub" games list. Moss is an adorable platformer that's very fanily friendly. I haven't beaten it, but I like it.

I think I'd recommend you hold off on buying games until they're on sale and instead leverage the many trials out there.

Crazy Kung Fu is a great little exercise reflex game that is like $1 with 90% off discount code right now (https://www.oculus.com/experiences/app/3846153838783795)

I really like Ragnarock (over smash drums), but watch videos of them both. Theres a demo available for Ragnarock.

I've been eyeing Sugar Mess as a very kid friendly game with a 40% code available now: https://www.meta.com/experiences/sugar-mess-lets-play-jolly-battle/3938584826225957/

If you're looking for an impressive hand tracking experience, Unplugged Air Guitar is pretty rad https://www.meta.com/experiences/unplugged-air-guitar/4714094898617280/#reviews

----

Iron Man: my kid really liked it on PSVR1. It's way less dark and gritty (and less polished) than Batman. There's an ok variety of stuff to do. I basically considered it first person Space Harrier, coupled with walking around Tony Stark's house, plane, etc.

Most people seem to love Vader Immortal, but when you read the reviews critically it seems like there's not a ton of gameplay there. The story/world building and impact of seeing Vader in VR are probably hard to beat and you can find the bundle of all three titles on sale for 15? 18?

Ghostbusters had an 85% off code for Halloween and I still didn't get it. Apparently the nostalgia vibes are low because of some decisions they made, and I was afraid I'd feel slightly sick with the moving system as it was described in some reviews.

Btw: You're missing a whole genre of driving/racing/track building games. TrackCraft is like mixed reality RC Pro AM. Check it out.

Congrats on the Quest 3. It's a heck of a toy!

So, if I'm planning on buying best saber, is it best to get a referral link from someone first? Not sure how that works
You get it cheaper getting it through this site from a youtuber, It has a 20% discount. If you ever want to use a friend's referral you would use their referral link first and then go to the store's page for that game.

Hey, I tried that link in your earlier post but doesn't seem to work (right now?). But if/when it works do I just buy through that site or like it redirects me back to the meta store? Thanks.

It would redirect you to the game page on the meta store when it's working properly. If you're not in a hurry, there will probably be a holiday sale in the next week. You can't count on Beat Saber being cheaper or even on sale, just throwing that out there. Party on!

It worked when I tried it for my alt account just now.

Ok, I got it to work on my phone by going direct to the site and it popped up a 20% discount for best saber. I wonder if this would stack with a store sale? Guess I'll wait a week and find out.

Initially I bought walkabout mini golf before realizing it was part of plus. Clicked refund and it gave an error and told me to contact support. Did that and long story short I got both the refund and a $20 credit added to my account.

Got Elysium Trials since it was 90% off. Will get beat saber, golf plus and resident evil hopefully with a sale.

Holiday Sale is live! Some amazing, amazing prices on games!

One note: most of the "bundles" they have are a few bucks cheaper to buy the games individually. Not sure why they would do that.

Edit: It looks like Quest+ subscribers get a bonus discount on some games. But Bundles those games are included in do NOT get discounted, hence cheaper to buy individually IF you're subscribed.

Can you post a link? Since I wasn’t eligible for the last two sales I’m probably not eligible for this one either. I don’t see any sale when I log into the horizon app, a to try would be nice to know for sure

You could try clicking this link. Interestingly, it looks like there is an additional discount for Quest+ subscribers too.

If you want to gut-check further, here are some random prices I see on sale.

  • Dungeons of Eternity - $14.99
  • The Light Brigade - $14.99
  • Ghost Signal - $7.99
  • The Climb 2 - $14.99 (13.49 for Q+)
  • Vendetta Forever - 18.99 (17.49 for Q+)

YAY! I wasn't eligible for the last sale either, but it shows the sale for me in the Horizon app. Quite a few on my wish list aren't on sale though, like Iron Man, RE4, so that's a bummer. I also have 5 additional people that accepted my referral, but haven't activated yet (thank you!). I'm guess they're Christmas gifts.

Quick shout out to this thread and everyone that contributed to the "referral bonus" explanation.
Made it real easy to understand the steps.

Respectfully,
Quest 3s newb-berry

OK, I need some help understanding: if you have Quest+, is it not possible to buy a game that's on Quest+?

I don't plan on subscribing past the included 3 months, and a couple games like Until You Fall are on sale and in Quest+, so I can't buy those games until after my sub runs out?

Unfortunately, there is not a way around this. If your Quest+ expires in the next 30 days, I believe you could gift the game to another email and then redeem the code after your sub expires. Considering the sale goes for the next 21 days, if your sub expires before February 5th, you could wait until the last day of the sale to buy the gift?

It's very dumb and annoying, I agree. I'd happily buy a few games on sale (thus giving them MORE money) if they let me.

Wait. What? They show a further discounted price for Quest+ subscribers on some games but you can't actually buy those games if you have any active sub? That's really weird!

Geez. My sub expires February 28th. Yeah this makes no sense. Maybe their thought process is people will stay subscribed? I'm almost more inclined to never sub again if it means missing out on sales.

Only if the game is part of the Quest+ catalog. Other games that aren't part of the catalog are also getting discounts for subscribing.

But since I redeemed Moss as one of this month's games, I can't buy it. I'd buy the bundle, but it reduces the price for just Moss 2, but then I didn't purchase Moss 1 so when my Quest+ sub runs out, I won't have Moss 1. It's so screwy.

It’s a Christmas miracle. I actually have access to the sale. So far I have purchased:

Assassin’s Creed Nexus
The Last Worker
Star Wars Pinball
I Expect You to Die 3

Shoguns Empire was reported as free by someone on Reddit. So I snagged that too

Thanks for mentioning Shogun's Empire. I would have missed it. Several of the reviews describe it as VR Total War - that's high praise. I wonder why it's being given away.

You get it cheaper getting it through this site from a youtuber, It has a 20% discount. If you ever want to use a friend's referral you would use their referral link first and then go to the store's page for that game.
I can't get this to work. I've tried pasting the address from cag and using the link here and in neither case can I get a beat saber with a discount. What am I doing wrong.

How far along in the process are you getting? Can you get to the point where you're clicking the Beat Saber button on the site? If so, what do you see next?

Make sure you select the right region when it asks if they selected the right language. I had to select English(US) or it sent me to the wrong region.
