Thanks to Frisky for all of the hard work that he put in for the previous deals threads (and continues to on this thread!)

Feel free to post here about the newest Nintendo eShop deals, My Nintendo rewards and discussions about the previously mentioned items.

Since there are users in this thread sticking up for the price of switch 2, are you also sticking up for the fact that welcome tour is $9.99 and not just included with the system? Are you sticking up for the fact that breath of the wild Switch 2 version doesn't come with the DLC? What about the price of Super Mario party jamboree and Kirby being $20 more than the switch version?

I just vote with my wallet. The $500 console plus mario kart world seemed reasonable to me so I grabbed it. The welcome tour looks like something that is lame and should have been included with every console for free, so I won't buy it. The price of games will be on a case by case basis. Donkey Kong, I will probably end up spending close to MSRP on because I want something else that is new to play on my Switch 2. I already own Kirby, so I might buy the upgrade if I feel like going back to that on the Switch 2. It's just a case by case basis and voting with my wallet on if I think myself or someone in my family will enjoy something and I can find it at a price that seems "worth it". Metroid Prime 4 with all the development it has been through, I will probably wait to make sure it doesn't have issues and maybe look for a decent deal on it or a deal on Nintendo Space bucks to buy it digitally.

Costco usually has Nintendo money for 20% off once or twice a year, so if that continues, it'll help with digital purchases at least.

Rakuten pretty frequently (every few weeks) has Nintendo $50 codes at $45, so that's another good source for discounts
Same with newegg. If you don't mind there being some risk involved you can find them on gameflip frequently as well, and with the app installed it should give you a coupon every day or so that helps with the fees. Discounted eshop cards are pretty easy to find usually

For those interested in swtich upgrades who don't own the switch version, there's also still the switch vouchers. That might not make sense for BotW, since it just makes it the same price once you add the switch 2 upgrade, but it might make sense for TotK at $70 which becomes $50 and then the $10 upgrade pushes it to $60. There might be other games that the vouchers make for a tempting path.

Assuming it's added to the voucher program, that might be the best way to do Metroid Prime 4...

Question on the switch 2 controller: there’s no difference except for the two back buttons and the c button right? I already have 4 pro controllers and I don’t want to spend any more on the switch 2 if I don’t need to.

As of now, the Switch pro controllers will not wake the console from sleep mode so that might be an issue

They won’t. I think they’re talking about buying the Switch 1 versions if they don’t already own them with the vouchers then paying the upgrade fee.
Yes, that is my (potential) plan with regards to Metroid Prime 4. If they OFFER the Switch version with the vouchers, I'm looking at (less than) $50 + $10 upgrade fee... theoretically. No tax, and cheaper than any other method.

I'm all about physical copies so I'll just get Metroid and Pokémon at GameStop using my coupons, so I guess $65 each.

I would be very surprised though if it's left out of the voucher list. They are cross-gen games at the end of the day. If Nintendo was that strict about preventing any loopholes, then Tears with its $70 MSRP wouldn't have been eligible for it either.

they know Americans are too lazy to get up and will buy the new controller just for this feature.

And that’s the whole point. Everybody should vote with their wallet.

If it doesn't sell well enough because it’s priced too high, Nintendo will adjust the price and the people in this thread that can’t afford it at this time can pick it up if and when the price drops. And if it sells to the big N’s expectations and they don’t lower the price, the folks in this thread that can’t afford it can do without or get a better/second job.

I had a brain fart and meant Newegg, don't know why I typed Rakuten. In fact I got an email from Newegg this morning that they have the $50 for $45 eshop codes going today.

People waste their energy complaining about prices. History has shown us that if a product is too expensive and underperforms that the price will drop (3DS for example). If you think Switch 2 is too expensive then don't buy it. If the market agrees with you then the price will eventually drop. If it sells well then the majority clearly think the price is fair. There's really nothing more to it than that.

That's a decent enough deal for some eshop credit. Thanks for the heads up about it. Now I'm flush with credit for whatever upcoming digital purchases I want to do. There's one game on sale I was already wanting to get.

People on a website wholly dedicated to being cheap asses are wanting lower prices?

Mate, are you new here or something?

This site is about sharing deals. Complaining about prices aren't going to make them drop. The reality is gaming is a very expensive hobby across the board right now. Whether it's PC, PlayStation or Nintendo.

If you have a Costco or Sams Club membership, the 10% off is the everday price:

Solid deal for those who have those stores and pay for those subscriptions to get those deals. We don't have either where I live. But I'm also not subscribing to any other stores either. No prime or walmart+ or any of that. I can usually find better deals.

I think the Wii U got a $50 price cut too if memory serves

Don't think many consumers responded to that price cut.

Much like shingles, Nintendo. Doesn't. CARE!
Why do we want deals, though?

Because the prices are bad!

I think if you find a sort of discussion fruitless, just subscribe to Wario64s feed and not come here. Or just not comment on the topics others are engaged in.

And yes, Nintendo is in the hubris part of their business life cycle. I really don't think a $500 system has legs with what's coming, but that's dependent on macro-economic factors they cannot escape.

When Costco has little to no inventory on shelves, I don't think people will be caring about video games.

Could be wrong, though. They're historically durable during recessions, but there's also never been such a saturated market with free to play stuff that runs on toaster.

Which Microsoft will remind you that it's also an Xbox.

There’s only two things that matter in society: bread and circuses. Nintendo is providing the circus.

And if you think about the hours of enjoyment, video games are really tops in ROI.
