Probably my favorite Final Fantasy game, and according to gamefaqs, it has a scheduled U.S. release date of:

02/05/07

Best Buy: $29.99 Available 2/6/07 – 2 PM
Gamecrazy: $29.99
Gamestop/EBGames: $34.99

If you've played the Final Fantasy 6 rom hacks, you've probably seen it all. Apparently, most of the things in those hacks are now in the GBA version. Gilgamesh, Czar Dragon, Omega Weapon, others that were in rom hacks. There's new stuff such as the fixed evade bug, no more vanish/doom on bosses, a new dungeon, new espers, new bosses, and a few other things I don't feel like digging up right now.

There are a few unconfirmed rumors that might suprise people.

I can probably make an updated list in this post of all the new additions and changes if people want me to.

You could hack your way into the game and get him as a character, right? I mean, with emulators and/or cheat devices. I remember hearing about a "dummy" item that led to all sorts of chaos. Then you could use that awesome Shockwave ability or whatever he had...

Anyway, WAY looking forward to this. VI owns all other FFs like the little bitches they are. IV puts up a good fight, but it just can't compare.

Yeah, you could get Leo in any version of the game by cheating, but in the gameboy advance remake, you can revive him legitimately, without cheating/hacking.

I wonder what the deal is with not wanting people to die in the GBA remakes. FFIV being the big perpetrator of this.

Anyway, FFVI is gaming perfection.

All we need know are Chrono Trigger, Lufia 1/2, and Earthbound (translated/released in the US). Afterward, there would be no reason for any game development of any kind to continue on the GBA, as it will have reached Nirvana.

I'd rather have Final Fantasy VI made for the DS so that the other screen would be in use, even though it would be worthless, but the gameboy advance remake is better than nothing.

Now if Square remakes Chrono Trigger or any of those other games, they should be made for the DS. When I play a gameboy advance game and one of the screens is blank, it just doesn't seem right.

I don't really care about Leo, but I'm sad they fixed the evade bug. Having invincible chracters was awesome (and pretty much necessary for a low level run).
I will so buy this game. Locke > Cloud
Wrong.

Locke > every FF character. Now and forever.

Though Setzer and Shadow give him a run for his money. Cyan and Sabin after that.

everyone has there own opinion on there most favorite final fantasy

To me it is FF 6 aka FF3 (when it was released in the states)

It'll be cool to see Gen. Leo as a playably character (non-hack)

When it comes out you can find me chilling in the dinosaur forest.

I wonder if they're going to keep the reflect/ultima trick

Locke? Please. Maybe you mean Locke is a bigger pussy than Cloud.

You fuckers best stop dissing Edgar, lest I have to "throw down" or something like that.

Though Cyan wins for "licentious howler."

Mario RPG. Square SNES lineup that didnt make it out of Japan would also work.

I wish they would make for the DS, the FFVII that the N64 was supposed to have before Square jumped ship. Remember seeing FFVI guys in 3D! back in the Gamepro days?

Fixed :D

FFVI is fine and all, but the 2-D & 3-D FFs are in completly different leagues.

I hope that price that EB has is right-$34.99. That means maximum of $30 with GGC, and you know there'll probably be a sale somewhere, so it's more like $25 realistically.

Definitely.

Indeed.

2D vs 3D FF games are like comparing Mario Bros 3 to the Super Mario Bros Movie.

It's just painful.

Definitely.
More likely it will be $30 everywhere else, much like FFIV and FFV.

And that was an excellent analogy Strell, though I somehow enjoyed the SMB movie.
no more vanish/doom on bosses,
fuck that. Thanks a lot Square for fucking with a classic game once again. First they totally fubared the difficulty in the FFI: Dawn of Souls version, now this. This "glitch" didn't really screw with the game; it was a fun little quirk and they shouldn't remove it. Why was it not removed from the other versions like the PSone version if it was a glitch? Again, fuck that. If they screw with the game further I will not be purchasing it.

Yes, I'm overreacting, but I wish Square wouldn't screw with a good thing.

I'm very pleased to see the love for FF6 on this forum. I'm so psyched for this this one! ;) Had no idea it was coming so soon too, I figured it'd be this month next year.

I told myself I'd level 99 everyone in FF4, but didn't. FF6 is a different story, I will do everything and anything to max that game to hell. Seeing all the extras is going to be a religious experience...
Isn't the thread title a spoiler?
It's a rumor that probably isn't true since there isn't any actual proof, just screenshots.

Then again, if you haven't played this game before, it would be a spoiler. But who hasn't played Final Fantasy VI?

With Game Genie you could pretty much play anyone you wanted. I remember having Kefka, Leo, Gestahl and Magitek Armors on my team at one point. I don't know if I dig the Vanish/Doom trick being pulled away though -- it was the greatest thing ever when gearing up for the Floating Continent with those Intangirs.

Oh well. The only other thing I hope they add is an explanation of what happened to Bannon. He just kind of disappeared after the world ended.

*Raises hand*

I didn't start playing RPG's until way after FF6 released (like in 1999 or so), so I only recently been catching up. I did beat FF4 recently, and plan to tackle FF5 and FF12 ASAP.

I held off on FF6 since I liked playing FF4 on the GBA more than my TV.

*gets pelted by numerous tomatoes*

lol.. I guess I'll change it then.

psh, I never used any of those cheats... in fact I don't even know of that running away cheat, and Vanish/Doom? Beat it once with it, then forgot about it and beat it the 2nd time on Emulator. Man I loved that game. Had Ultimate weapon and had Ultimate on almost every character. And you guys got it all wrong. Celes was the best character, bar none.

I just wish they'd release an updated version, like FF3 for DS. I've played the same 2D FFVI like, 3-4 times...

There are four new espers now:

Gilgamesh
Cactaur
Diablos
Leviathan

The bonus dungeon is apparently also going to be able to be explored by three seperate parties ala the Moogle Caves.

I'm obsessed with this game again like I was in the 1995. And I've dragged Roufuss down withe me. :whistle2:( Even with an awesome Wii and DS, I've been fighting the urge to load this up on my SNES. Any of the three save files I have would do.

And I don't care if the bonus dungeon is lame. The strategic battle in the moogle caves remains my favorite part of any RPG, and if it can be developed with that in mind, I'll love it.
Not bad choices on the new Espers, but the new dungeons they add for these GBA releases are lame, so I'm not holding my breath for that.
The bonus dungeon in FFV is fucking horrible.

The one for FFIV was pretty decent, imo.

LMAO, that was good.

But seriously, it's like comparing Doom to Gears of War.

Unless they do the same thing with Chrono Trigger, this game is the nail in the Game Boy's coffin (because, yes, I've given up on Earthbound).

I haven't played this game for about four years, and even then was the load-tastic PS1 remake, which I tolerated for about four hours. I'm long overdue for a replay.

Put my $5 reserve at Gamestop tonight for it :)

I slightly want to find a really cheap GBA SP. I have a DSLite..but, I'm not big on playing GBA games on it. The other screen just sitting there kinda urks me :(

I'm going to wait for some bonuses before I preorder it, if there are any. Did Final Fantasy III, IV, or V have preorder bonuses?

::shrugs::

That sounds good. I'll cancel it and wait until end of January lol :)

No, no, and no.

FF VI is my favorite FF game ever. This is a day one purchase for me. I cant wait!

Now all I need is Secret of Mana advance and Chrono Trigger advance and I can die a happy man.

Even knowing the time sink, I might drop whatever I'm doing and start in on this when I buy it. Just need to avoid any games that will take me longer than two weeks to finish now.

Holy crap, this game totally flew under my radar. I had no idea the release was so close. :wall:

Between PW2, Hotel Dusk, and this game, I don't know where to begin. And I have yet to even start FFIII and FFV. *Shakes fist at Nintendo*

Stop buying games is a good start ;)

I'm not even bothering with PW 2 or Hotel Dusk... I'm just holding out for FF 6 advance.

Was the shit about Leo ever confirmed?
