[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

You know making it harder for those of us that use the thread by hiding gems amongst all this banter, will just defeat the process. Maybe the gems should be moved to the Wiki and not the first post, I find it hard enough some days to remember how to get to the wiki, so that may deter a portion of the "for profit" browsers. But I really think this is just sour grapes and conspiracy theory. I had not even noticed the kmart thread for the first 6 months of it's existence, and I can still find things. I actually enjoy the treasure hunt somewhat, but I don't have time to read every single post. That's one reason why the thread op's and the mods exist, to clear the wheat from the chaff. I still go to FW when it suits me, and as of yet they are not trying to exclude me from their deals.

Picked up today in Springfield, IL (the Kmart right across from the mall)

They had TONS of stuff there. I would go get a list and pick stuff up for people but I was only there for the day visiting my brother.

So if anyone lives in Springfield, IL go to the KMART as they had quite a bit of clearance stuff. I can't remember the titles but I think there were 4 or 5 different 360 games for $12 or less.

Edit: I do remember Moto GP 06 and Just Cause being there.

Not that I'm defending hoarding, but the "go get a real job" garbage is just that - garbage. It's a free-market, there's no rules to any of it, and it's not even 'unethical' like some of you holier-than-thou types would like to believe. So you left a copy of Disgaea 2 because you weren't going to play it - good for you, you deserve a fucking medal, huh?
 
I saw Bust-A-Move Deluxe PSP tonight that scanned for $10. Didn't want it at that price, much less the $32 it was priced at.

a manager had a price-change list sitting on the counter (not for public use) and i noticed PS2-Tales of the Abyss was on there for either $22 or $25, in case anyone cares.

Also, Disgaea 2 rang up $25 at my store, but she found it on that list for $12 and manually priced it for me. So they should theoretically have a list you can ask them to check, if you have problems getting a game for the right price. Dunno if this is common knowledge or not.

That is exactly what you're doing, defending hoarding.
Maybe you should buy all of your stuff from ebay from now instead of trying to beat the system by buying loss leaders.
 
luckily the kmarts i visit are safe from hoarders. and its very true that most of these games are pretty much all gone. occationally youll find em somehow since it probably had slipped to the back of the case. heck i even found 2 copies of ICO at one kmart but it was priced at $29.99 so I passed. im sure someone else was happy to have found them after i took them out of the case and left in the shelf. i came back a week later and sure enough, they were both gone.

but as Oxygen stated, i also do love to do my kmart runs.. although i must admit that i am disappointed about 60 to 70% at a time when i visit a new kmart since they don't have what i wanted. but its all good.

They're items they're trying to get rid of. If this clearance was part of some Kmart marketing scheme to get people to buy other things at kmart, it isn't working very well.

However, the sale ads are loss leaders.
Items such as the penny guides are also not loss leaders
(they're suppose to be trashed).
The point is that cags are trying to "beat" the system,
by not paying market price for anything (ahh.. mainly videogames).

How are clearence items 'loss leaders'? This isn't standing in line for a Black Friday deal to run home and sell online immediately here...

:roll: Just because your narrow point of view leads you to believe that your finger pointing and designation of 'hoarding' leads you to think that anyone that has a contrary viewpoint doesn't make it so.

It's funny though, people go to a Kmart and don't see a game they heard could be available for a clearence price, and when they don't see it, they proclaim the store has been 'wiped out' by 'hoarders'. In my, and most people's experiences with Kmart, they're quite hit or miss on stocking games to begin with. In a lot of cases, they most likely never had it, or were sold out of it long before it reached the 'rock bottom' clearence prices people are looking for. Deals like these are always going to be YMMV, and it isn't purely 'hoarders' going and buying up clearence items.

Some of the CAG Morality Police here seem to think that these clearences should be a perfect little world for you- that you should be able to walk in, buy one, and then leave the rest there for this magical other CAG member or just gamer in general to go in and buy one, and no one else will ever know about the deals, or if they do, they will be 'ethical' and only buy one for themselves. That's not how it works - people are douchebags. I'd rather buy the 3 copies of Disgaea I see and come here and offer them, and if they don't get picked up here, they go right off to eBay. I make a reasonable effort, and when they don't go, I end up paying for my copy by selling the other two. fuck it...free market. If you wanted it, you should have been there, and it has nothing to do with 'real jobs' or whatever oversimplification you'd like to put on it.

Noob. Apparently you don't realize how the SD'ers and FW'ers operate. They're like a hoarde of Locusts that consume everything for petty profitting, leaving none for anyone, even those of us who actually collect and play the games.

We (more others, I've only contribibuted a little) researched and made a huge, organized list and they copy/pasted it to their forum. They took someone elses work, stole it and passed it off as their own.

Guys Chill out, hoarders are everywhere, you can't avoid them.

Even if you tried to hide the deals in some fashion, other people will collect the deals to post elsewhere, most people post the deals on fw for the recognition of posting a good deal. Here it's a little different, I think most people post the deals to actually share with each other. However we all hoard in some fashion or another, I know I've bought multiple copies of items in the past to flip to other game stores, all with the goal of buying even more games.

The only thing I hope for is that people don't x-post deal to SD or FW that are first posted here (at least for the first few days), that does nothing to help the folks who truly appreciate games.

Disgaea 2 is ringing up at $7 for me finally, as well as Rogue. Took long enough (my K-Mart seems to be about 4 months behind everyone else or something). However, the Kingdom Hearts was ringing up at $3, not $14. YMMV on this, I'm sure..

Disgaea 2 should be $12, and Rogue Galaxy $10 with the latest drops. If you got them for $7 then far from your Kmart being behind, it would appear to be well ahead ;). Or it has some local YMMV additional discount/pricing scheme.

Im not ashamed to admit when i saw four Gameboy players new at Kmart for $5 i bought them all and then turned around and sold them for $150 each. ;)
 
I'm confused. We have 107 pages worth of topic here. Can't we just keep an updated list hidden somewhere in here? I doubt anybody who is just here for hoarding is going to have the patience to search through the topic if they don't know where the list is.

Wow! thats awesome. I havent had THAT good turnaround on my money, I think the best I did was flipping new Mario Mix DDR's on Gamecube and turning my $50 into $150 each last christmas.

Those are all greatest hits copies. I've seen a few that were properly labeled as originals - 1 was a set of both games new with guides for $170, and one by itself for $96

Anybody know what Burnout Revenge 360 is going for? I saw one, but forgot to have her scan it. It was out on the regular shelf (not in the glass) like it had been discounted.
 
Found a Rouge Galzy for $10 tonight which is wierd cuz last week it was 32 and non of the other clearance games were changed. but the disgaea 2 they had last week was also gone this week. But rouge galxy was the only game i was after anyways. they also had tales of legendia marked at 15. there was no way i could price check anything. the lady was acting like i was gonna steal games. so i jsut grabbed rouge galaxy and left.
