I'm about 6 hours in, and I can honestly say I miss having a "regular" controller. I'm bored of having to swing the Wii remote to slash the sword, it sucks doing it when I'm laying down or sitting in my recliner playing.
The begining of the game is flat-out BORING.
The graphics on this game are bad, and not in the whole, "OMG IT LOOKS LIKE GAMECUBE" way. I wasn't expecting a "powerful" system. What I mean is everything blends in with everything else. Not enough variety of colors, everything's to fuzzy and washed out. Just shades of green, brown, and yellow everywhere blobing into each other.
Also, in many parts of the game I feel like Nintendo made certain areas big just for the sake of being big. Huge chunks of land that are empty, and really serve no purpose. I remember older Zelda games, especially the 2D ones, every section contianed some sort of secret, hidden hearts, cave, special item, ect. It sort of ruins the sense of exploration once you realize that a lot of areas are just barren except the one part that pushes the story on.
I don't feel like it's an open, living, breathing world. I feel like I did when I played Fable... the games trying to emulate that sand-box style feeling, but for some reason everything feels very empty to me. I really think the little loading between ares hurts it. In OoT it wasn't so bad because there weren't many areas, there was Hyrule Field, the Castle, the Desert, ect. In TP though, it hits you with the changing area screen almost everywhere you go, not just for major environment changes.
A lot of the overall design feel uninspired to me. In a way the game really reminds me of Fable for some reason, except with Zelda style dungeons thrown in.
No doubt the game is still VERY good, but it's definitely not going to be my favorite Zelda if it continues on this way. Hopefully it picks up though, and some of the places I've yet to discover are more interesting then what been shown to me so far.
We must be playing a different game. I could never go back to a normal controller. It took me 9 hours to get past the first temple.
No Zelda game has had more to do, just to get to the first temple/dungeon. Uninspired?, its the exact opposite. The loading happens very rarely. You must be running around in circles that would expain most of your post. I never post like this, everyone has their own opinion, but you are just so off it seems like you have a different game.
