Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.

List

  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:

  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

attention all cags / n00bs:

DO NOT TALK ABOUT:
-Trading
-Selling/Reselling

DO NOT BEG AND FOR CHRIST SAKE, DO NOT CALL SEARS AND ASK FOR CLEARANCE.

Talk, ask, about your deals and report your finds. If youre from SD or FW and wants to post this list or any other list from CAG just so you can have your 15 minutes of fame, all we can say is FU.

Please trade your games in this thread from now on. if youre looking for any particular game, head over there as well. its stickied so it'll be easier to locate.

POSTING OR REPORTING YOUR FINDS :

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT SEARS, LIKE MANY RETAILERS, USES 2 DIFFERENT PRICE STRATEGIES TO DETERMINE IF AN ITEM IS ON FULL PRICE OR CLEARANCE.

WITH THAT SAID, HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD REMEMBER WHEN POSTING YOUR FINDS:

Games that ends in - .97 = Clearance Price
Games that ends in - .99 = Retail

I agree with buying the game selling a game at cost (plus a few extra bucks for Paypal and packaging, etc) I have done it for several people (recently Excite Truck 3 copies, and Condemned earlier) even though I could get more TIV at GR/BB/GS just because I would hope for the same from another CAG if I wanted something.

Do I also buy games to flip, yes, but I will check to see if there are anyone looking for said game before I flip it. Again just because I would hope that I would get the same treatment from another CAG.

I have at least another CAG and FW member in my area and hes a butt, so I buy what I see. Some for the bay(to help pay for my vacation with my wife and kids), some to flip-look at the motto-Never pay full price for your video games, gaming hardware, and more, and some to give away at the dad's site I belong to (in sig). I never have been into trading with people on the net but if someone was in a bind for a game, I would help them out.

Just like I got 2 Xbox Live Vision camera bundles at Toys R Us Sunday for 40 bucks each, one is been given away at the dad's site and the other is on the bay to cover the cost(which I rarely do).

But most places have only one or two of whatever that I purchase, I recently purchased 4 SNK Card Fighters for DS but if there was like 5 Gamecubes somewhere I couldnt see buying more than 2 or 3 and posting about the rest here(or leaving one there and hooking another CAG member up)
Perfect time to go back when there's someone there that knows what they're doing.
Great advice. I stopped back at the store (after not getting the call I was told to expect) right before closing...when everyone wanted to get the F out. When I asked a new employee about the games not being in the system he checked with a manager who said "14.99 each" without even checking to see what I was trying to buy. My new favorite retail employee said "these are pretty old, I think they were at $4.97 each at one point." Grouchy manager said "fine."

I also grabbed Final Fantasy IV Advance, and Mega Man Anniversary Collection for XBox both for $4.97 as well. Mega Man Collection rang up no problem and is on the backwards compatible list thankfully.

Also saw quite a few copies of MVP Baseball 2005 for XBox for $4.99, I know this is nothing all that new, but after the positive comments about the game from CAGs after the thread about it being sold at Amazon for $4.99 figured some people might want to grab it minus the shipping cost/wait.

Most of us do stuff for fellow CAGs sometimes, and other times we flip or buy/sell/trade games because it will let us afford/get other stuff we want right then and there, or soon anyway. Some may do more "charity work" than others do. That's their choice and vice versa, but we're all CAGs. We're all trying to game for less. So get over it and get off your high horse while you're at it if you're on one. JMHO.

So the gamecubes are supposed to be 19.97 everywhere, right? I just called Sears (yeah, I know, shame on me) and they said they had two in stock. It took them some time to ring them up, then they told me it was one hundred dollars. They wouldn't do anything else to check if it was $20, so are the Sears clearances nationwide? Also, shouldn't the current Sears gamecube price be $50, not $100? It just sounded a little fishy. And these weren't bundles.

The gamecubes I bought are the console only for 19.99. They come in black or silver. No games are included. Basically they look a lot like the ones that are 99.99 at BB or WM.
these guys really suck with their clearence prices in my area :/..
Yep, same here. All of the stuff mentioned in this thread that I was able to find was either still MSRP or like $10 off. Even when I do find stuff that is actually dramatically marked down, I never find $2 games, like some people are able to do. The Sears in Wayne, NJ really surprises me, because they have a TON of old junk. They have like two or three bins and a rack...all of clearance stuff. But it mostly all rings up at regular prices.
I've bought a grand total of 8 games from Sears for flipping. If you consider buying the only copy of STL and the only copy of Eragon at one store as "clearing a store out", then I guess I've done that. As far as selling games to others at cost or less, I have done that when I have a game that I find that I'll never play and that also can not be sold or traded for something better. I did that recently with a Gamecube game and I got iTrader feedback saying I sold it on the cheap. No, I'm not going to ship a game to someone for cost when I could trade it (to Gamestop) for more, which is also a much easier and more convenient thing to do.
But, posting that if anyone wanted xyz and abc game, that they should give you 'what Gamestop would give you, plus money for Paypal(which,GASP,some of us DON'T BOTHER WITH AT ALL), money for this, money for that, money for yet another thing' is just pushing the line of good taste.

Even when I ship out guides, I do it for a flat rate of $11 per every four I send and while I have routinely sent via Media, which is the slowest and cheapest shipping rate available, I've also been shipping via Priority Mail flat rate box lately.

In the end, it makes me $1 something per bundle, but since the closest post office is like 3 miles away, I don't much care about tacking on for 'gas costs, etc' since it's SO CLOSE.

Hell, I don't even think I've thrown out the words 'something for my time' when making deals on here before, but that's because I was typically going to the stores for myself anyway and I decided to pick up stuff for others while there.

Some gouge on price(like the one CAG I saw who found DDR Mario @ Sears and posted it on their TL for $75-100 or more) and some do not and I have chosen to avoid those who gouge like the plague and only do trades/deals with those who don't.

It's a personal preference, but if you're going to be a pushy motherfucker and put out that you EXPECT xyz amount for getting stuff cheap for others, then don't even bother offering because that's just a disgusting practice.

It's not so much the flipping I have an issue with really, it's the assholes who find a 'zomg rare' game(like DDR MARIO) and put it on their TL for $100+ after listing in the Sears or whichever thread that they found it for $10-15.

I mean, it must be a phenomenal game to go for such a high price, but to me if you got it for $10-15 and you're going to spike the price by 1000%, then fuck you.

You want $100 for it, list it on Ebay. THAT is what actually aggravates me more than the people saying they bought up 3x game 1 and 4x game 2 to trade to GS cause even I've done the flipping thing before, though not in over a year.

I bought "Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin" for like $2.78. (I don't have the receipt with me, but it was definitely under 3 bucks!!!) Unfortunately, there were no copies of Elite Beat Agents left. Time to try a different Sears!!! :D

Well if someone is going to try and sell one of those rare games for full value on a site called CHEAP ASS GAMER then they're just stupid. I don't have a problem with someone putting a rare item on their trade list like Mario DDR and wanting to get fair trade value for it though.

I saw two surprising drops for 360 today in the ATL area:

MotoGP 07 29.97
White Wireless Headset 45.97

Seems a little early for Moto to clearance already, but I hope it hangs around until it's sub 10 and I'd like the headset, too, but weren't there build issues with those like the mic had static in it or something? Sadly this store had been extremely pillaged. All copies of Neo Contra and Project Snowblind are gone now. The only cheaper clearance games were the DS Capcom Card Battle game and Xenosaga.

LOL...100% spot-on. I really have no problem at all with whatever people ask for their games on their tradelists. That is their entirely their business. But it is funny to see people ask eBay prices for stuff on here, especially when they say stuff like, "This goes for a lot on eBay." Yeah, well, that's why we come here...so we don't have to pay insane prices.

Absolutely.

WTF - 2.97 (got 2)
SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters - 2.97 (got 2)
Ape Escape 3 - 3.97 (got 1)

left a couple other items behind, like Neo Contra since it was still 6.97

I just started working at Sears again, so here goes...

Here's some insight into what's going on with the Gamecubes. Stores will drop items from the system if an item has not sold in a predetermined period of time. These have to manually repriced, which often does not happen for video games (last in the list of priorities for going through the process). If a price is dropped on a game through this process, it is done on a store by store basis. The amount that the price is dropped BY is set by the computer system which is shared by a region. All of the stores in DFW that I called while being yelled at by a customer were either priced regularly, or 19.97 and *had not been in stock for over a year*. This means if you find one in stock at a store where it is priced 19.97, you can go to another store first and (as long as it remains in stock at that price at the other store) buy out other nearby stores at that price first. Some (many) stores won't price match video games.

(For general edification, price matching requires the item to be in stock in the store you are price matching to.)

Just for the record, these $19.97 Platinum Gamecubes are incompatible with both the Freeloader and the Action Replay, so no import fun for me until I dig my original Gamecube out of storage. I bought one the other day for just that reason. Later on, I found out that those boot discs only work with the original black and purple Cubes.

But I ain't giving it up though!!! I bought a used Game Boy Player at Gamestop, so it'll still get some use.

Finally got a Gamecube for $19.97. It was Jet Black though I kind of wanted Platinum but for that price I can't complain. On SD, someone said they checked and it was OOS but I'm glad I stopped there anyway.

The YMMV on prices is getting ridiculous, someone posted a few pages back Virtua Tennis 3 was $1.97 at their store, $39.97 at the one I scanned the UPC at!

i went to another Sears and I was soooooooooooo disappointed! Elite Beat Agents was $23.98!!! :( I had them scan twice, but no luck. How can I tell them, "Please drop it to $1.97 because it was reported on cheapassgamer.com"

Not sure if it's clear in that post, but if it doesn't sell for a while in one store and it's manually repriced, it won't apply to all stores.

LOL. Yes, it makes sense. I was being sarcastic. :) Imagine me asking that question in real life, and only if they said, "OH! You saw it on cheapassgamer? Sorry sir. We'll adjust the price right away. There you go 1.97. Have a great day!"

I loved when I got a gamecube there last week. The people ringing it up practically shit themselves and had to check it four times to confirm. They were pissed as well that they couldn't get one too because I took the only one they had in stock.
Not a clearance but I found Tetris DS for $29.99. It's freakin' hard to find.
I swear, the sears by my house had like 3-4 of these.
When I went back to buy one, they were all gone :/

I've been looking for someone who knows about this for several months now. The short version of the story is that I got a Wii in April (I didn't have a GC before that), then I bought Animal Crossing, then an Action Replay to unlock the hidden NES games. Problem is I bought the Action Replay two weeks after the update that blocked them. So I then borrowed my girlfriend's GC (it's Platinum) and tried it, and it didn't work either. I tried to find an answer on Google, but all that came up when I typed in various combinations of Gamecube, Action Replay, and Blocking were stories about the Wii firmware update.

So, the problem is just that my girlfriend's Gamecube was too new then, eh? I've actually been wanting to pick up a Gamecube just for a Game Boy Player, so I guess I should specifically look for an older one so I can start using my AR too. Is there any way to differiate between an old purple/black one and a new one?

(Sorry for having nothing to do with Sears.)

I think it's because of all the people saying it's rare (and I guess it actually is rare now) because these were all over the place just a short couple of months ago.

Has anyone been able to get a :gc: Metroid Prime bundle for $19?

I was at a Sears yesterday, and the electonics worker told me that only Platinum and Pokemon :gc: were on clearance.

I have tried using the Action Replay with Animal Crossing on my Platinum Gamecube and it works... I did get it used a few years ago, though. Not every title works the Action Replay, however.

None of the Sears in my area have had the bundles for 1-2 years. I found 7 or 8 GC at my sears, but only bought 3.

The Metroid bundle has scanned for $99.99 at 2 Sears I have been to. It doesn't make sense, I guess their reasoning is it has a game with it but if system with no game is $19.97, what makes them think someone is willing to pay $80 more for a game GS sells for under $10 used. They should have marked those down to $29.97.

I could definitely be wrong, but I thought that you just needed a newer copy of Action Replay? You might see if you can find a newer version. The Action Replay you bought may well have been an older version. Again, though, don't shoot me if you get the latest version of AR and it still doesn't work. :) There's reason to get an older Gamecube anyway, to have the component out option.
I scored "Burnout Revenge" (360) for $9. I wonder it worth every pennies or NOT ??
I paid $9 for the game on the original XBox. Well worth it, it's a fun arcade racer

Nah bro. It actually rang up a higher price but the tag on the product was marked at like $3, so the cashier manually changed the price and gave it to me for that much.

Yeah, there is an updated version of the Action Replay you can buy, but I'm wondering if it's cheaper to just buy a pre-owned Cube from Gamestop (not for me, I'm just too lazy to go through 20 boxes in my storage unit to find my Cube). The thing that gets me right now is that I purchased my Freeloader for a penny from EB Games back in the BG days (that stands for Before Gamestop) and my Action Replay from Toys R Us for $5 two years ago. At this point, I'm sure it will cost more than it's worth for me to find a newer model Action Replay.

BTW, the component out Cubes are the only ones that work with the original Freeloader and Action Replay discs.

I'd say screw Nintendo and its continued paranoia about people pirating its products, which is the reason why the Wii doesn't allow the Freeloader and AR to work properly for import GameCube games, but I just bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl the other day, which kills my argument completely.

And the 1st party stuff and wavebirds all sold out about a year ago around here I think. I don't know if it was an official SEARS clearance or a YMMV manager special, but they were gone at 24 :(

There have definitely been March drops. I finally got Burnout Revenge for 360 at a sweet price:

360 Burnout Revenge 6.97
PS2 Neo Contra 6.97

BR still had the February 13.97 sticker so it had a March drop. I never saw Neo Contra there before and thought I missed out when it disappeared from my other Sears, so that was a great find, too. I was so hyped BR actually rang up cheaper I forgot to go back and get Project Snowblind to see if it dropped from it's 8.97 FEB price. Maybe next time.

Just got back not long ago.

Scored:

Superman Returns - $1.97
Elder Scrolls Oblivion - $29.99
Elder Scrolls Shivering Isles (& Knights Of The Nine) - $14.97

What was the brand of the third party controller? I need to know because maybe they still have it at my sears.
