Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Just a little further clarification. The stickers I was referring to are different from the picture above. They do not have the yellow band with "Clearance" written across the top. They are all white with the price on the sticker. So, does the rule above still apply. Thanks again.

Scan a few games. I scanned both Armored Core 4 and Dynasty Warriors Gundam and both were $14.97 each, thus still at January's pricing.
 
Stopped by a Sears today, but it was still Jan pricing. Saw a SW Battlefront for Xbox. Is there any real Single player value and does anyone still play this (or SWBF2 for that matter) online anymore?

No drops on mine. I did pick up lunar dragon song for .97

I saw a few more but they wouldn't sell it to me since it was oos. Good haul for 2.97 damn!!!!

Manassas is always good for at least one clearance game. So maybe I will try for an Armored Core or a return Rebuy of DW Gundam for cheap
 
Went by 4 sears today, 2 had Jan pricing (And a bunch of stuff I want, so I will be going back soon), 1 had Feb Pricing, and one had nothing worth even checking. That last one had the worst game section ever in a sears.

The pink stickers have "jan" or "feb" etc. on them.
 
I went to one sears today and asked if they had marked anything down yet, and the manager said they didn't get their "direction" yet, so they wouldnt be doing february now and it varies from sears to sears.

i went to a second store and it was still january pricing. However, the chick had a palm scanner thingy, and she did a game, it looked something like this

Curr. price - $14.97
blah blah blah
FUTURE PRICE - $4.97
Future price effective 02/05/09

Of course, I pointed out today was that day, and after talking with many employees, it was decided that the drops happen tonight, and would be active first thing in the morning.

Anyone else encounter one of these scanner thingies, and/or can confirm/deny this?

This is not always true. It just means the month the sticker was printed. For example, at the Sears I visited today there were a few FEB stickers that reflected January's prices. I imagine they just stickered them during the first couple days of the month and will probably resticker them (if they're not lazy) when the prices go down later this month.

Checked my 2 Sears near me one Sears Essentials and one regular Sears attached to a mall. Both were still on January pricing, but I did find 2 Gripshifts at one so it wasn't a total loss.

So I gather these price changes have to be manually implemented at store level? Thats kind of weird. I've worked in retail for a long time (grocery store though so no game deals unfortunately) and our price changes are always automatically implemented across the chain by corporate. Then its up to us to manually change stickers on the items. Too bad Sears isn't like that.

When I used to live in NJ that store was the $hit (or just $hit depending on how you look at it)! I got many great clearance deals at that Sears including 3 copies of the original non-GH Sly Cooper about 2 years ago for $0.97 each. The secret is now out! :)
 
im gonna call my sears today and find out if it's on the new pricing...hopefully ill get someone who won't try to hoard all the games i ask them to scan lol

I was thrown off by that too. I had always thought that Sears prices updated all at once.

If what MightySlacker says is true of all stores and all these Armored Cores and Eternal Sonatas drop to $4.97 today, I've got some (more) driving ahead of me.

Interesting...though I know lots of games are marked clearance at full price, I hope some of the Feb games I saw with pink stickers do drop in price. MGS Essential Collection and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia were two new pink stickers that I would like at a lower price.
 
I can confirm the sticker date thingy, when we were investigating, she printed off a sticker and it said feb even though the price hadnt dropped yet.

Ah, I remember a year or two back (before I moved to NJ), coming to this Sears and not really finding anything interesting... but lately I have gotten some good stuff here. Maybe the difference was you moving away! ;)

The palm scanner, or "SNC," shows you the date of the night the prices turn over (after closing, of course), so if her scanner said 2/05, the prices will be effective 2/06.

I have been watching some price drops in my SNC for a while now, so I plan on raiding the games this evening when I go in for my shift, provided a CAG-savvy customer hasn't already beat me to it. I'll post the deals I pick up, as well as any noteworthy finds, because I'll be doing the stickering all night, and I'll have a pretty good idea of what there is to find.
 
guess ill be updating the op tonight. im really jealous of these 2.97-4.97 finds. yesterday was a bust for me and the 1 sears i went to had december pricing still listed when i scanned them. i guess i'll have to wait patiently.

I'll have to ask around about this, but I think the biggest reason so much of it is "YMMV" is that the stores that have outdated prices probably don't have good signing people/MCAs. A lot of adjustments seem to be made manually, so if someone doesn't set 'em up, they won't get done, and you'll still be stuck with old prices.

My store has more copies of Mercury Meltdown Revolution than we know what to do with, but they're not the fun 0.97 kind. They're still $14.99. They're not even on the floor, actually. I'm waiting patiently.

Wow what a store.. we have items ready for sale but we dont put them out lol... Hopefully your Sears wont be one to close in the future because they are closing a few but I think its going to be more in the future because not many people in general shop at Sears/Kmart with Targets and Walmarts now.
 
i've had a feeling that some of the employees at my local sears have been hoarding clearance games for a while because it was once a gold mine, but it has been absolute garbage for over a year. so i was pleasantly surprised to finally find some deals this morning.

re the drops, yeah i kinda have known that sears have a habbit of "we'll get to it" before. so its no surprised that some stores have sat on clearances markdowns since december. but thats sort of what we expect and what we've known for over the years and its really nothing new. i actually prefer it since we'll never have the good clearances that we have now if all games are priced as marked. :)
 
I took on the responsibility of doing the markdowns myself (stickering, not putting in the system), but the first time I did them, they ended up going down even further a few days later, so I grudgingly waited a whole month to do them again. Today is the day they'll be right again, but I am glad I didn't mark them right before this, otherwise my deals wouldn't still be there today (they might not, actually, with the exception of Metroid Prime: Hunters for $4.97, which I put in the back a long time ago, because we had too many).

It seems like advance knowledge of clearance prices is worth more than the associate discount is at this point.

They've been mixed in with the clearance at my store, but I haven't had them scanned yet (mine is the store with no price scanners anywhere in the store - my kmart is the same way). I can have them scanned later today and post my findings, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone knew already. Thanks guys.

I'm relatively certain that Elebits is down to $4.97 right now (as of today). I'll check MLB: The Show 08 when I get in this evening, and hopefully have a response for you before tonight is over. Let me know what system you want it for, too, 'cause some platforms get marked down sooner than later.

Elebits was $9.97 in January by me.
 
Got Tomb Raider Anniversary 360 for $4.97 but it was incorrectly labeled, rang up $29.99. Since the sticker was inside a plastic security shell they guy said it was their mistake and gave it to me for $4.97. I was ready to buy this game at gamestop this week too!
