Persona 4: Released and Ready 2 Play! Metacritic Score -- A Whoppin' 93!!!
I'm pretty sure you don't actually have to equip a corresponding persona type. You just have to have one with you.
You'd be correct.

And wow... July is an interesting month.

awww man over 5 hours into this...

I jus began the first dungeon, and jus got the social link with the sports team.

addiction starts now @_@

I've only beat the second dungeon (I'm on 6/18) and I think I may end up liking this one more than P3 and I absolutely loved P3.

I'm about 10 hours in and just finished the first dungeon at level 15, really loving the game so far and it's starting to get addicting! Didn't get to the first boss in P3, but I plan to pick that back up after I finish P4.

Also got my Social Link pack from Amazon, shirt is pretty nice. I usually wear XL but this shirt seems more like XXL to me, quite a bit longer than my XL shirts, hopefully it'll shrink down a bit in the wash.

Doesn't seem to be as difficult as I originally thought. I whooped the 2nd boss pretty bad. I really like how there's a lot of reasons to raise your Knowledge, Courage, etc. this time.

So if I have a persona that is of that type, it raises the S-Link even faster?

Do I have to get 9th lvl S-Link with Yukiko to get her to be my GF?

I'm about 4 and half hours into it and I'm in love with this game and the series. I'm a little confused on the social links and persona fusions so I might pick up the strategy guide to make everything go smoother. The last thing I want to do is fuck up a fusion and then ruin the game experience. For those who have the strat guide, is it worth it?

4th dungeon is awesome.

Yes it will help increase the characters happiness towards you for the S. Link and
yes.

The only thing it's missing as far as I can tell is all the dialogue choices you get in normal conversations. They won't list the characteristic increases anywhere for them. (There are a couple minor bits of info missing for a couple things but they're not that big of a deal).

However it will still list answers to classroom questions and such. Although with some things you may need to check multiple pages as they don't re-put info in other areas of the guide to be a little more helpful.

^ The guide is nice, I recommend it. I hardly ever buy guides but I always get them for SMT games. I could see this one going up in price in a few years so in those terms it's not a bad investment.

Don't be scared of fusion. Since you're able to see the results it's hard to fuck anything up, just save often. Persona's come and go throughout the game, so don't get too attached to them. It's good to be consistently making new personas that are close to the main characters level. Plus it's always good to have a variety for experimenting with new recipes. The guide also gives tips on what persona's would be good for boss fights.

I love to play around with the fusions to get the bonus powers that I want, since it is random. When you pick the two (or three, or more) personas that you want to fuse, take a look at the bonus powers that the new persona is getting, then cancel the fusion, unselect the personas, then select them again and you'll get different bonus powers selected for the new created persona. I spent almost ten minutes once trying to pass on Mazio and Elec Bonus from Oberon to a persona I was fusioning, until finally I got the combination that I wanted.

Hmm well then it might be beneficial for me to pick it up. I have actually answered all of the classroom questions correctly so I guess I am, in the words of Homer Simpson, "the smart!" lol!

I guess I will have to play around with it for a bit. I wanted to start fusing some together but I didn't know if I was going to mess something up so I just put down the controller as slow as I could and walked away.
oh shyt! it's raining today!

jus like how it rains in persona 4!!!

addict!!!
o_O

Uh oh!!! Is anyone missing? Did anything show up at midnight for you guys? Crap, where's my teddy plushy? That little son of a... :)

Actually I haven't received my social link expansion pack yet. I ordered it when they were available for the second time around and it shipped out on the 11th and had a delivery date of the 12th. So far, my order tracking is still showing that billing info was received but nothing has actually shipped. I was also charged for it too...

so you have until 4/29 to rescue
yukiko?
I just got up to the boss on 4/19, so I have 10 days to grind? I hope so. I'm only at level 10 and the boss is pretty killer. :)

That boss can be finished off around lvl 15, if I recall.

Just grind it all out in one day, and get it done.

Great game so far I really liked persona 3, but this one will most likely be my favorite.

I got pretty much everything I'd want for persona 4 stuff now the game guide, the pre-order artbook, the official design works artbook, and now the social link yay I'm so excited sadly the social link pack will come on the one the 25 or 29th ah well as long as it comes all nice and safe. :bouncy:

good. I'd like to get ahead so I don't have to worry about time constrained shit.

*goes back to procrastinating on paper that's due tomorrow*

I read online that the best days to hit the dungeon are the first day, 4/27, and 4/29.

I always try and get the dungeon done in at least time as possible.
This way I have more time to spend socializing, and not worrying about losing and shit.

Warning: Never try to one-day a brand new dungeon unless you want to spend 30+ minutes fighting a boss.

Took me that long on the third dungeon and even longer on the fourth where I encountered some serious bullshit in the final few turns of the boss barely managing to win.
Doing a whole dungeon in one day seems like such a waste of SP items. Unless you can afford the fox, I guess.
I have it Rank 9 Hermit and it'll be Rank 10 in the next (in game) day or two when I start playing the game again. It only costs me like 15k to fully restore my SP, which is less than I make on yen alone in a dungeon run between heals (doesn't count materials).

So does this game have the same time constraits as Persona 3? I know that there is a week and you can only do certain actions at certain times, but does the game end when it gets to a certain month/day still?

I wasn't too impressed with Amazon's packing.

Both the Visual Data that came with the game and the Official Design works were sent in BOXES and yet the pages were warped.

Really, it's nothing noticeable when I look at either book head on, but if I look at the bottom and tops, the pages curve up and down from the spine to the end; kind of like a wave or a snake.

Also on the Official Design Works, the strip they run across the front cover to the back cover was halfway was slid half off the bottom of the book, so it was all crinkled.

Kind of disappointing, especially since the DoubleJump guide was perfect and only shipped in the most flimsy packaging, yet Amazon ships in boxes and both books were warped. :bomb:

Wow my Visual Data book is exactly as you describe it...

Christ, finally got my copy w/artbook from amazon. Have to say they did a great job packaging it (even with super saver shipping). Too bad I don't have time to play it right now :(

It was creepy this morning. I woke up and heard the rain outside my window. I got ready for work and went out to my car and it was totally foggy outside. We don't normally get fog in AZ. What makes it even more bizarre is that I kept thinking about Persona 4 the entire time lol. o_O

How does P4 run on the 80 gb PS3? I started P3 on my PS2 but finished the game on the MGS4 80 GB PS3 without incident (I used the memory card transfer device). Anyway, I just wanted to see whether I should play Persona 4 on my PS3 or PS2. (I just got my copy from Amazon today) Anybody have any info?

mystery time!!

Damn, I think I wanna grab that strat guide for this game. As much as I like walking into a dungeon's boss room completely unprepared, I'd rather not, seeing as I have a bad habit of forgetting to save...a lot.

EB tried to screw me after telling me I was *guaranteed* to get an artbook, saying it was first come first serve.

Canceled my preorder, walked across the street and got it for $5 less than EB's price - *with* the artbook last Friday at my local indie game shop.

Lesson learned. Don't preorder from EB.

Finished Finals today - can play until Xmas! :D :bouncy:

How do you forget when there's always a warning that there's a boss ahead?
I lost two hours because I got beat by a random enemy. Why doesn't this game have some sort of auto-save function?! :bomb:
Yeah, you've got to be careful. So many times I would get hit within 30 health of me dieing only to barely survive. Especially those bullshit enemy advantages when I swear I hit him before he turned around and smacked me.

Luckily though I didn't have any major time loss deaths outside of the sub-boss in the first dungeon.

It happened a lot in P3, and it happened once already in the castle dungeon (I missed the butterfly completely).

Well I decided to start playing on my 80gb PS3 and everything seemed fine at first. After a while, however, I started to notice that the yellow/black banners in the lower left were always blank. Checking screenshots online reveals that these banners should have text. I'm gonna go transfer my P4 save and try on my PS2. Anybody else experienced this?

Edit: Yep, on the PS2 it does indeed have this text. It's a shame the PS3 version doesn't because the games looks a bit sharper than on the PS2. Oh well. I wonder if it is something that could be patched (I know Sony has occasionally released PS2 backwards compatibility updates).

Jesus tapdancing Christ. I think my copy of the game has it out for me.

I can't get past the first dungeon. I've tried like 7-8 times tonight and without fail, at some point, my main character craps out on me before I get to the mid-boss. It doesn't matter if I heal the previous round, or if I come into a battle full health, the game just doesn't want me to get anywhere. The last try tonight was fighting a random encounter where the enemy (one of those dice things that made lots of appearances in 3) used an insta-death move on the whole party (Last Resort) and everyone died. This is in the first dungeon of the game. What the bloody fucking hell. I NEVER had such bullshit happen to me in Persona 3. I think I've died more times outside of a boss battle just in this first dungeon than I did in Persona 3 for the whole game. Seriously, wtf? It's like my copy is cursed.

Sounds like you're playing a copy of Beyond the Beyond.

I'm gonna play again tomorrow. If I still can't get past this shit after like 5 tries, it's going on a one-way trip to Gamestop. I would sell it to a CAG but I don't want to sell a cursed copy to a CAG.
