I am curious of those "high quality" games leaving the service how many of them have you played/ beat? (for me, only Gotham Knights, which I bought and rather enjoyed it).

I feel the point of the service (and even game pass, except for their first party software) is an extended demo. I personally do not have the time to play all the games offered, but if I like a few would turn and buy those games I enjoyed.

I know this is CheapAssGamer and it isn't ConplainAssGamer-That can't get games for free (yeah the extended title doesn't flow real well) 🤣

Feel like Sony is getting hammered for every step they take now. If those games are leaving it stands to reason other games are being added.

Which high quality games are being added to PS Plus? The highlights of the past few months have all been indie games.. Dave the Diver, Dredge, Cult of Lamb, Plucky Squire. That's still just one game a month compared to dozens leaving every month so you're better off just buying these little indie games on sale, that way you get to keep them forever. Last month it was Horizon Forbidden West and Trials of Mana, before that it was Lost Judgment, etc...we're losing high quality AAA and replacing them with Indie games.

I think paying a little bit extra for PS Extra over base PS Plus is fair but let's be honest, most of us wouldn't be paying for these services if we weren't forced to, just to play online.

I 100% completed Gotham Knights. Great game. I WAS in the middle of trying to 100% both Dragon Quest Heroes games. I had planned to do another playthrough of Dragon Quest XI at some point as well as Dragon Quest Builders. Can't expect these games to be in the service forever but that just proves that you're better off just buying games on sale and playing them at your leisure instead of worrying about them leaving a service. I guess if playstation is your only console but having multiple consoles and subscription services vying for your time makes it even more difficult manage.

I don't know the sale prices by heart, but any one of the games you mentioned is $20 on sale. There may be a few of them that are $15 - that's just for one game. PS+ Premium is $120 on sale, and you get to play hundreds of them. You rent the games until you finish them, lose interest, or they leave the service. You can think of it as paying $60 for the old PS Plus, and $60 for PlayStation Now. $5/month for each service is pretty great. What can you buy for $5 in a physical store? Junk. I'm still sometimes surprised at how cheap digital entertainment is, like music is virtually free to listen to. If I actually had time to play all the games on the service, I might be willing to pay even more.

It's really a bummer that first party Sony games leave the service. I just beat Forbidden West last night before it left but didn't get to do everything as the game is huge. Yeah yeah, I should have played it right when it was available on the service. But again, I didn't expect it to leave so soon. I won't make the same mistake with Ragnarok. That's definitely an area that game pass is superior in with no debate. Most of the first party games are on the service day one and they stay there.

I would rather own 6 games of my choosing that I can play at any time for the rest of my life than get a single year’s worth of access to hundreds of games that can be changed at any time with little prior notice. Those 6 are significantly higher value to me.

I understand how great it is that Xbox first party titles go to game pass right away, but how is that a successful formula? I can not recall the last time I bought an X game. Now they also win because I do still subscribe to Game Pass (wife plays CoD on X). Now that CoD is on game pass that will be one less game I have to buy....although tbh the last CoD still sits sealed on my PS5 shelf and I do not see me returning to the series.

Wasn't there an article about God of war Ragnarok coming to PlayStation premium this month or next month? Did I just make that up or something? I googled it and can't seem to find it. I could have sworn last month or the month before I read an article that stated Ragnarok was coming to the premium service in September or October.

You sure it wasn't an article based on a Reddit prediction thread?

I think you might have gotten it confused with the PC release which is coming out this Thursday.

Probably one of those or both. Damn it. I was looking forward to playing it. I really wish Sony would put their first party games on the service within like a year of release. I get why they don't want to copy Game Pass and have it day one but man, paying for Premium should get us more brand new first party games much sooner.

Sony has already started informing retailers it won't be able to fulfill demand for the disc drive in a timely manner. You know this was intentional. They are trying to force digital on us. As of this post, every retailer in the US is now sold out.

Can you imagine if the Pro was coming with a disc drive? The price would be, for arguements sake (and keeping it simple) $799. People would still be in for getting it, but then Sony would have all these detachable disc drives sitting around. From a Sony perspective offering a purely digital Pro with an optional disc drive did two things. First, it kept the price of Pro down and secondly, it allowed their stock of disc drives to be sold out It is a really good move for the company (not so much for the consumer, granted).

Also, if digital sales really are on the upswing vs. physical, then Sony is following where the money is.

Did I already buy the disc drive? Yes. Did I already buy the vertical stand? Yes.

Am I having flashbacks to when Sega released the Sega CD and then the 32X, both of which I bought (oh hindsight how clear it is). Did both fail miserably and lead me to go with this new Sony Playstation vs the Saturn? Yes.

Relax bro. It ain’t that serious.

Oh you wanted a Bloodborne remaster? Nah son, you're getting Horizon Zero Dawn remaster instead. Probably why they pulled HFW from PSPlus.

This has been rumored for quite some time, but then people thought it was actually the Lego game. Funny to see that it's both a remaster and a Lego version. Sony is really milking this franchise

I do not get who the Horizon Lego game is for? I enjoy the series, but the issues and such I can not see being conveyed through a lego game. Like, who asked for this? If Sony were listening they surely would have figured out how to resurrect Bloodbourne. I suck at those games, but I understand the popularity (and I have tried all of them). My son is huge into them, even snagged a ps3 so he could play Demon Soul's (which back when that was released I was actually decent at).

OH MY GOD, buying five more.

you can't be too careful these days. Thank you Sony, for producing these disc drives.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a great game I enjoyed it a bunch I think it is a better game story wise than the sequel but I could think of so many other games that deserve a remaster.

Bloodborne, Infamous 1 & 2, Sly Cooper Collection, Jak and Daxter Collection, Ratchet and Clank Collection, Killzone Collection, Resistance Collection and Ape Escape Collection.

A few of these that are on PS2 got some basic ports recently but figure out a way to remaster or port native PS3 games.

What is there to milk? There are only 2 entries. With a sequel that sold half as much as the first.

just got one at gamestop

I'll stick with my PS5s I have and spend the difference on a Switch or PC upgrade. Don't think I'll tolerate another round of Sony hubris, more so if Microsoft is exiting the hardware scene.

If everything moves to coming to PC, then I only have to deal with GPU pricing hubris instead... D:

It's corpologic. Naughty Dog has dropped the ball this gen (and Insomniac is busy with licensed Marvel games) so they've been positioning Horizon and GOW as their front and center AAA franchises. They saw the money Microsoft is making with LEGO Minecraft and Nintendo with LEGO Mario (and later Zelda) and not having enough faith in Astro Bot at the time, figured Horizon was their best big franchise to collab with (since they've abandoned their other kid-friendly franchises).

I believe the 20th anniversary was more expensive than the regular consoles were they not?

So my guess is well over $900. They will probably charge more for every individual product included. I'm guessing. $1099.99 perhaps more because the stand and disc drive plate look to be included too.

I bet $1100 for the Pro Bundle due to fanciness on top of it. Maybe more because shipping is going to be a lot, as I doubt Sony Direct does free shipping (never ordered).

Yes, it would have to be at least $930 just for the Pro, charging dock and Edge, but I am guessing they will bump it up to $950 or $1000 with the other stuff.
I think even more than that. Individually it would probably be $799.99 for the Pro, $250 for the Edge, $40 for the stand, $90 for the drive cover. Just raising the price on all individual components for cosmetic costs.

They do actually have free shipping for consoles. But you're probably right, given the added weight, $1100+ is probably the correct price.
