What's the significance of the 12,300, anyone know?

I mean 12k units for the entire world seems... very small. This is just scalper bait.

This is going to be way harder to get then the 20th. More people are aware because of social media. It's going to draw everyone. Sony should have made having a active ps plus account for more then 2 years a requirement.

Is this sonys way of getting all the people who miss out on the $1,200 bundle. To just buy a $700 pro as consolation.

How much is that Pro going to cost? At least $900 if they are including an Edge controller?

No... people forget that you aren't going to pay MSRP of an accessory on top of a console with an already included controller.

With apple, you pay the difference of the items you're upgrading. So a $100 apple watch band is a $50 upgrade from a new in box Apple Watch. Of course the way sony is now they can just say 'screw you' to customers and they'll still buy it anyway.

Disagree. Use length of PSN account as a qualifier, not people who spend the most money on subscriptions. I've been a diehard PS fan since 1994. Grew up with that original console. Then the PSone (with screen attachment!), two PS2s, PS3 fat and PS3 slim, PS4 and PS4 Pro. Two PSPs, two Vitas, and now two PS5s (original and slim).

it almost got me interested in getting a pro..then I realized its for the digital consoles lol. that disc drive gonna ruin it. It seems like only less than 15000 will be made which is less than the 500 million ps4 pro limited edition which sold out in less than a second when I tried to get one so good luck with that and congrats to scalpers. I at least want the controller though..ps portal, maybe, I already have the white one.

I'm just wondering if these consoles will be $100 more expensive of same price as the whites. I can imagine these selling for 2k or more

I can guarantee the 30th PS5 slim will be $500. You will have to pay for the special stand, cord, faceplate and controller. You get nothing for free with sony anymore. As for the 30th Pro, $1,200 at the cheapest. I can almost Guarantee the 30th edge controller will be $219.99 to $249.99. $84.99 for the 30th dualsense.

  • Limited edition vertical stand
  • Original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing
  • 4 PlayStation shapes cable ties
  • PlayStation sticker
  • Limited Edition PlayStation poster (one of 30 possible designs)
  • PlayStation™ paperclip
  • Limited edition DualSense® wireless controller
  • Limited edition DualSense charging station
  • Limited edition console cover for disc drive
All this will add at least $300 to the Pro bundle price. I just noticed the slim comes with most of that limited stuff to so now I'm thinking $549.99 for the slim

I think we'll be lucky if more then 1 of us actually get 1. You gotta figure, they will allocate about 5k to the US. And with the regular pro going live at the same time.

The odds of actually getting in - in the first couple mins are going to be slim. I still don't know if it's best to refresh at start time or mins before, nor do I know if a refresh resets your spot

Also don't know if mobile or desktop is better. My phone loads pages faster then my laptop.
:(
I'm gonna say at least 0.0005% chance. Sony just loves being Sony so we don't have much choice at that

I just wanted to state that I am playing Animal Well on PS premium and it's really cool. A little frustrating with the save points if you die but overall, I am really enjoying it.

I have that on both the 5 and Steam Deck. I did enjoy it, but set it down for a few weeks and now can't recall what I was doing so it is slotted in my "want to play" section of my backlog (translation: never going to get back to)

I'm out of the loop, but Portal can't stream PS+ cloud games? (directly, without a console).

Anything that the PS5 plays on your TV, the Portal can handle. It literally just replicates whatever you see on your TV but you just don't need your TV on. I use mine to play my PS5 while having football games on my TV.

With that said, streaming games from the cloud to your PS5, which then gets streamed to your Portal might be result in some pretty heavy demand on your networking equipment and might not result in the best experience for image quality or lag. I literally use mine from my living room couch (where both my PS5 and pretty decent Asus GT-AC1900 router are) and I still get regular drops in image quality.

How's the remote play away from your network? I heard the wait times to wake up your console can get pretty bad.

I never used it outside of my own condo, but when I use it in my bedroom (about 25 feet/2 walls in between), it definitely seems to take longer for my PS5 to wake than when I use it in my living room couch (about 12 feet from router, nothing major in it's path).

I honestly never bothered to try it outside of my own house since connecting is so wonky...

That's what I thought. I would grab one if it could stream PS+ games without a PC or PS5.

FYI if you try and price match it with Best Buy, you might run into the same issue I did. For whatever stupid reason the lowest they could drop the price was $33.99 off retail. Tried both online with the order place as well as in store and neither could drop it any lower than that. If anyone was able to get the $50 off at BBY let me know what you did.

Gonna try give em a call tomorrow and see if they can override it for the remaining discount.

With the reports of Concord budget being 100m short of half a billion and the director now stepping down, pretty much signals the closure of Firewalk and the headcount either being reduced or distributed to other projects. If/when that happens, they're already looking at Hulst since he apparently was the game's only fan and pushed for resources to support it. Granted, how much of that was once he took the reigns and was looking for a legacy title and how much was under Jim Ryan we'll never know. Either way, very murky on how this will shake out but now we have a collateral number that will be answered for.

On another note, I think Sony has a new plan for exclusivity rather than under the table deals and if I'm right, would explain the PS5 Pro and future direction. I suspect their boldness with price is to test how the market responds to teasing exclusive graphic modes to games on their hardware. AKA back to the old era of boasting the best framerates, fidelity, etc only on PS. If they're happy with the results, they may push hardware out faster on the cadence of being able to update annually just like the cell phone market operates. Then it all comes down to new features, performance modes for games on a PS, etc. Since software is stagnating for them and they're an electronics company foremost, it makes a lot of sense to have that constant revenue stream without lifecycle dips.

They know Xbox is largely done for hardware and quite frankly, if they were smart they'd already be talking about Game Pass on PS6.

Dunno how Concord could have possibly cost 400 million. They have to be factoring in the cost of Sony buying the studio, right? They had like 150 devs and I doubt they were each being paid 500 grand a year to work on Concord lol. Though who knows these days, these companies have lost all sense.

I can’t wait to see the AAAA slop that finally one day breaks the 500 million dollar threshold. All I know for sure is it will be something I will have absolutely no interest in playing.

Have to take into account how much it cost to make the character designs as boring and non-upsetting as possible. DEI and sensitivity training seminars, DEI officer salaries, DEI consulting, marketing and research fees, had to be at least 25% of the budget. Such a superior display of blandness took years and millions to cultivate.

Well if there's anyone like you on staff there, I guess they'd have to spend all that on DEI...

I am a generous, kind, and fair person. I’m proud of my world views and how I’ve always treated others. Have done hundreds to thousands of hours of community service that I choose to do, well before DEI was a thing. How about you? Hypothetically, what would thousands or millions spent on forced DEI seminars, like you are suggesting, do for someone that is already ahead of the curve, other than enrich and secure more bag for those cashing in, and being an inroads to try and take credit for the good that person was already doing?

Not sure how to defend myself from personal attacks otherwise. If it’s any consolation, Mr. / Mrs. / They / Them humble, i believe this is the first i have ever posted about my years of community service online or brought it up in casual conversation. It’s in a resume, on a community service section at the very bottom, for whatever good that’s done me, but otherwise it’s not like I’m doing it for social cred and standing. It’s never been posted on social media, and it‘s certainly not like I’ve made a million dollar career out of flouting it. Someone is attacking me personally, in effect saying I’m a bad person, such a bad person that millions need to be spent to adjust to their liking. I know they probably just expected me to tell them to f off or something, but beyond that, if i do genuinely try to be a good person, and consider that a core component of my personality, i’m going to reluctantly defend against that with examples of the contrary. And my last statment, I said hypothetically, and “that person”, not me, because yes, that would otherwise be presumptuous. Anyway, if anyone else feels like criticizing me, I guess we can keep going, otherwise, you’ve made your point that you did not like what I said, message received, no need to derail this further. You could instead try to make arguments for other reasons Concord failed, and discuss what contributed to its failure, if you actually wanted to discuss the original topic.

I would have taken your original post more seriously if you weren't just regurgitating Grummz/Asmongold talking points. Kudos for making a difference in your community though (sincerely).

$400 million is an insane number (if accurate). Gonna need to see the ex-director's classic car purchase history.

Completed The Plucky Squire, and it was mostly a great experience. There's quite a few glitches when it comes to trophies, so I hope the devs can fix it soon. For me, the only thing keeping me from plat is fully upgrading abilities, but I can't do chapter replay because it apparently bugs out the vendor and other stuff. Just a fair warning for anyone else playing this game.

Minecraft is getting a free upgrade to PS5 on October 22:

Seems like they're removing PSVR support from the PS4 version:

  • Our ability to support PlayStation®VR has come to an end, and will no longer be supported in updates after March of 2025. After you receive the final update, you will still receive updates on your PlayStation® and be able to play without PlayStation®VR. From this point on you can keep building in your worlds, and your Marketplace purchases (including Tokens) will continue to be available. You will no longer be able to use your PlayStation®VR with Minecraft as it will no longer be supported in the latest updates.

I have no idea who Grummz Is, and think I’ve watched up to half an hour of Asmongold content when Diablo 4 was releasing, but fair enough. The GIF was a topical joke, given my post.

Just keep in mind that just because the studio that made Concord only had ~150 employees, a lot more people than that worked on the game. The end credits run for well over an hour.

Not for nothing but regardless of one's personal feeling regarding DEI thinking anyone is spending $100 million on it (on a single game!) is utter madness that just makes you look ridiculous.
