Just finished up silent hill 2 remake. Really well done. It might have been like 2 hours too long, but still really enjoyed it.
Did you play the original? Was it too long compared to the original, or in general?

I played the original like 20 years ago, and have only been watching streams of it, but not one that's past like the 2/3 mark

Just played the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. The game is really fun and a treat to the eyes in graphics mode. The performance mode is a mess. Looks like a switch game. It's only a beta and there are 4 months for capcom to tighten it up though. Graphics mode is 30 fps but it's very playable and looks great so far. I'll be playing on PS5 Pro. Looking forward to see what that have planned for the upgrade.

It's been a very long time since I played the original but if I remember right it was like 8-10 hours. Remake I finished in just over 16 hours. There's a trophy for beating it in under 10 hours so it can be done quicker, but I definitely was exploring and getting collectables and stuff. But I just think by the time I got to the end I was kinda ready to be done. Was planning on going for multiple endings but I'm going to shelve it for a bit. The combat and puzzles just got a little samey by the time I was nearing the end.

I played it on and off for a handful of hours yesterday and had a lot of fun with it. This may be the first Monster Hunter (of the 3 I've put any time into) that I haven't quickly settled on a weapon.
I think that will be a game I sink a ton of time into when it releases.

Death note got a game? That's weird after all this time.

Guessing it's like Phoenix Wright and such games? As I can't see it working as anything other than point and click visual novel. Unless they lean heavily into the cop aspect and make it fps/gta

Yeah I don't understand the gameplay much via text. But from what I gather it's team based with 5 on each team and somewhat crossed with clue. But since there's the team gauge you can win that way as well? Seems convoluted.

Ghostwire: Tokyo
Death Note Killer Within

Ghostwire Tokyo is very good! I enjoyed it a lot but won't be for everybody. I enjoyed the first Hot Wheels game as well. Fun arcade racer!

In case anyone is interested, today's supposedly the last day to get LittleBigPlanet DLC before it's all delisted. All games, all systems. Most of the licensed packs were delisted long ago, but the Journey Home dlc for lbp3 and tons of costumes are about to vanish...

I was going to buy the journey home until I saw you can only play the new characters they added in it. It's only 3 levels with each level specific to one of the new sackthings. I didn't hate LBP3 but the new characters were the worst part of it to me. I have a lot of costumes and level kits from the LBP1/2 days so I think I'm good. I did buy a physical copy of LBP3 for $10 before the prices go up on it.

Coolest part of the Journey Home is that it revisits some levels from earlier games with the new characters. Adds a couple minigames and some trophies too. Haven't played it yet, but I tend to buy in panic mode when something I might like is about to be delisted...

Just bought Dreamlight Valley thinking I could move my cloud save over from Xbox. Apparently I can’t. I downloaded and booted up the game on PS5. Can I still get a refund or am I out $42?

People are going to pay big money for those items if they are exclusive. Might be a cheap way to get a PS5 if you want to sell the code. I know people were paying over 100 for the Nintendo switch fortnite code.

Playing through Star Wars Outlaws right now and don't kill me but, I actually am enjoying it 🫣

Don't get me wrong it has it's issues and isn't perfect. The main characters voice actor just doesn't match the character model like at all leaving this uncanny feeling sometimes during cut scenes. The main character looks like this kind of gruff, pack a day, scoundrel. But the voice is... Not that at all.

The core gameplay is solid though and I really enjoy the "syndicate systems" in the game. There are four syndicates you are doing different missions for throughout the game and some missions will improve your standing with certain syndicates, but could hurt your reputation with another. You can also go into a mission doing one thing, but get an option at some point to double cross that syndicate and give the data or Whatever your stealing to a different syndicate to improve your standing with them. If you have a bad reputation with a certain syndicate it makes their "turf" stealth areas to get through because they don't trust you. If you have good standing you can walk freely through their turf (aside from restricted areas with their faults and stuff). There are certainly a lot of "Ubisoft" open world elements in the game, but doesn't feel as bloated as some of the assassins creed games. There's also some space areas to explore that mix up the gameplay nicely.

I got the game for $40 from QVC at launch but after its issues I waited for some patches to roll out before playing so my experience is probably different than those at launch. I honestly think if you were playing as Han Solo or Bossk or something people would have gone ape shit for this game.

I think Ubisoft games are fine. Heck I enjoyed Farcry 5 for what I played of it (just got bored and stopped after a long while). They're just a bit derivative is all, and usually why people wait for drops on digital editions to buy them especially gold editions (this guy!). I have that one on my wish list and will get a gold edition when it's $25 to $30 just like Avatar and probably the newest Assassin's Creed's games too. Just the way it is with that company.

Yeah I think part of why I'm enjoying it is that it's just good timing for me. After finishing silent hill 2 which is sort of claustrophobic and somewhat linear it's a bit freeing now to play something that's open and I can tackle things in whatever order. Definitely think Outlaws is a game that needs to be on sale. $70 for it when it has a season pass and stuff is just way too much. $30-$35 on black Friday would definitely be worth it though.

Apparently today was Killzone's 20th anniversary and Guerilla Games didn't acknowledge it.

Sad. Feel like the KZ series just got off to a bad start with the first game (I think that one's advertising was "Halo Killer"?), and the second one's 'target footage' trailer. But man, KZ2 actually looked awesome, had a pretty great campaign and the MP was a fucking blast, saying that as someone who's played and enjoyed very few MP games. KZ3 was awesome too but I couldn't get into the MP for that one for whatever reason. And I dunno why Shadow Fall seems like it's seen so unfavorably, I enjoyed that game for what it was (early PS4 launch game).

I'm still hoping for a Killzone 1-4 remaster and a Resistance trilogy remaster for PS5. Take my money Sony!

Someone from Guerrilla talked recently with Gene Park from the Washington Post about it briefly:

Roy Postma, Guerrilla’s art director, said "We were done with it as a team. As a studio, we needed to refresh the palette," Postma said. "It was, by choice, the opposite of Killzone. [Horizon]"

But yeah a bummer there isn't any sort of acknowledgement of the anniversary

Waiting for that inevitable Black Friday Ubisoft discount before I snag it

I thought the game got a bad rap for what it is. I wish there had been more of a penalty with the syndicate system. It was fairly esay to get to "good" status with all of them and of you are any good wit hstealthing made some missions laughably easy.

That is unbelievable that they are actually the same size. So this was definitely a conscious decision to make them not compatible which is infuriating
Just a follow up since the plate situation angered you. I knew close to launch we would get more context with true comparisons. The tops plates on Pro are actually slightly larger. They are not the same size as the Slim covers. The PS5 Pro has a different chassis to accommodate the new fan and vents. That's seem like the reason new plates are needed. Hope that helps.

6:34 for the comparison.
