Battle and Story demos are out now for The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II:

Battle: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP1063-PPSA26104_00-EDKURO2BTLDEMO01
Story: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP1063-PPSA26102_00-EDKURO2STDEMO001

The Story Demo supports carrying the save over to the full game at launch.

Every time a new Legend of Heroes game comes out, it reminds me how far behind I am. The new games look good but it feels like I can jump up to Daybreak having only finished Sky 1 & 2 and 1.5 Cold Steel Games

Ikr? I've only played cold steel 1, 2 and zero. Brightside the sky trilogy remakes are all but certain so depending on those I can play through them as well. Given that the only other option would be pc versions. It doesn't help that they take a long while to play through.

Supposedly Daybreak is a good place to start if you want to start playing the newer games. I'm severely behind on it and the Yakuza series. I'm only really up to date with some roguelites/likes and some visual novels. I'm eternally behind on everything else, which is helpful for indie games at least since they get bundled pretty quickly nowadays.

I've played every installment. My opinion and recommendation is that Daybreak should be played last. Yeah it's latest point on the timeline of Western releases, but the real reason is that it's the single lowest quality Trails game. Im not saying don't buy it - I'm still buying the Daybreak II LE, for example - but I really do encourage new players to enjoy the previous, cheaper, and superior games. Today I would advise someone new to the series to start with Zero since we currently await the remakes of the Sky arc.

Is there a specific section or way to see available demos in the PS store? I know there's been more demos being dropped lately but honest hard to keep track of what's available...

Meanwhile I'm over here barely slogging through Sky FC on Vita. I'll play it for a bit and then set it down and forget it for months. I need to get back to it lol.

I kept pretending I'd start the series and have been collecting the games, but now the Sky remake will actually make me do that. That said it sucks though because I'll have to wait several years for the other games in the trilogy to get remade...
Well the one upside is you only have to wait for 2 really to start zero. since 3 is supposedly not as super mega important to play before zero/cold steel 1 from what I've been told. Though I'm not sure how well 3rd will get handled given some of the content in that.

I only have cold steel 1 and 2 and zero completed out of them. Since cold steel was localized long before zero but I played up to 2 since I was advised that they take place at the same time basically. Whereas cs3 cs4 are after that and have returning characters from both previous games so it was important to see zero before then.

However I'm considering skipping Azure entirely as what my one friend said of it she hated it especially how heavily sexist Lloyd banning is. And tbh it ended on a decent enough note with most of the stuff addressed. Plus I already have some vibes that it's like most second half anime (7 samurai , iron blooded orphan, guilty crown etc) that get worse after the high point in the middle. And should have just ended there.

So, a lot of that is hearsay so I will chime in having played every game multiple times (different translations, Evo versions, etc). 3rd is a solid game and is worth playing. Even though it heavily recycles assets from the previous games and that can definitely drag, 3rd does other things with excellence (soundtrack! character development!) One of the primary plot elements in Zero (and the most emotionally charged one) is a direct continuation of something in 3rd. Zero has great world building but the plot points themselves are weak compared to what they were setting up for Azure. Azure is the single best Trails game and what I personally describe as my favorite game ever. Sexism.. that conversation won't be productive because it rests upon widely varying presuppositions. To me, Lloyd saying things like "I want you to stay here where you'll be safe while I go into a mafia den" isn't treating someone worse due to their sex; it's treating them better.

I can say Having played 1 through 4 the story and the pay off is amazing. Each game took me around 80 -100 hours to complete (and I am not a completionist) Having said that Azure and Zero i can't get into and Daybreak is still sealed....of course I am looking foward to Daybreak 2, but I don't know...kind of exhausting and games like Metaphor, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Age are clicking with me more. Sucks too because after the Trails games I will dig the world and the history.

I could not imagine just jumping into a Trails game. Definitely not like Y's

It's like starting One Piece in 2025.

The English dub for One Piece is so far behind at this point. Netflix has up to episode 628 that was dubbed a couple of years ago, but they're getting the newest arc of dubbed stuff on Saturday that covers maybe up to the 700 range of episodes that was finished most recently (but were originally released in Japan in 2015). They also have the newest Japanese dub episodes in the 1089 to 1122 arc, which just finished up last fall.

I'm using a filler guide to move past the non-essential stuff that helps, which I'd also recommend guides for the Trails games to avoid wasting too much time for the older games if you'd like to catch up at some point.

Reading One Piece feels like a much easier investment than playing a bunch of long ass JRPGs, but I'm admittedly biased
Even watching the show wouldn't be too bad if you stripped out all the massive amounts of filler and them blowing up that same building 5 times an episode during water 7 arc.

Having watched it myself between the opening theme, Ed theme, recap, synopsis the episodes were 4 minutes -7 minutes long.

What? I dunno about Netflix, but the dub is already at the latest animated arc, the Egghead arc...

This is why I gave up trying to find good anime anymore: 90% is just filler/repetitive. At that point, I'd rather watch something more cohesive.

The Final Fantasy Collection on PS4 is on woot again for 44.99 also.
Great deal, I'd strongly recommend it.

I held off on the pixel remasters for a long time because I figured the difference wouldn't be that big over the originals to warrant the price, but it's totally worth it for the QoL improvements alone (with the new VFX and multiple languages being a huge bonus).

Does anyone know of a link or can directly suggest games NOT to play without owning a PS5 Pro? I have a huge backlog and don’t want to ruin my experience with games like Stellar Blade, FF Rebirth, and more. Currentlay I’m playing astrobot and debating on what to start next. I have SW Outlaws, Stellar, Ragnanok, Rebirth, Spiderman 2, and essentially every major release owned and unplayed. Right now I’m focusing on older titles that I know are not Pro enhanced.

I'd wait and see first, but they have to do something, and there are a lot of ancients cultures with lots of gods out there. It's better than rehashing the Greek gods and running dry on ideas and stories.

You know, all the flack they got at release for how much wasn’t in the game, it really ignited something in that team to prove everyone wrong didn’t it?

At this point they could re-release it with everything for $100 and I wouldn't even flinch at buying it. They've beyond redeemed themselves. Their next game I'll buy day one in support.

AKA Hulst just got thrown under the bus for Jim Ryan's mistakes but equally for believing too hard in Concord. Either way, dealt a bad hand.
I wonder what level of involvement Hulst had in approving Sony's big games as a service push that has failed spectacularly even beyond Concord

Similar to when they stopped offering Vita games, though seeing it till next year it has a lot of months to go. I am excited for the Pac-Man game as it looks like an OK remake of a decent old game.

I don't think I played more than half the PS+ free games I got on my PS3.. and prob less than 80% of the ones I got on PS4. Don't think I played a single PS5 freebie.

Periodically check as sometimes they just don't have the padlock anymore due to some glitch and become free without having plus. I have a few on ps4 including yakuza 6 that randomly did that.
