Would CAG be better if there were 'vote to kick' option, like what you see in some multiplayer games? Or is mute/ignore enough?

I don't even know how mute/ignore works. But if I did, there might be one or two people I'd be okay never hearing from again.

No. There are clearly cliques on here who would abuse that and kick users if they just dont agree with them. Blocking people is usually enough.

If there were one, I would vote to kick anyone who made those sorts of suggestions. There are enough tribal echo chambers on the internet, I’m perfectly fine dealing with seeing people be stupid or assholes now and then if that’s the price of not having to participate in groupthink.

I am going to provide this information here for anyone else curious. I don't know how long Sony will keep saved data in their cloud system if the PS Plus subscription lapses but some apparently have reported the data being saved years later after resuming their subscription. I think we should all backup our save data to USB drives regardless of subscription status so I think this information is useful. I thought Sony removed the ability to backup data to USB drives on the newer gen consoles but it looks like it was implemented again at some point since I last tried to do it.

Not to mention there are like... 30 regularly active users on CAG. :whistle2:/

I think you've been able to back up to USB for quite a while, but it's an all or nothing back up. You can't back up one game save and restore it when you want, I think you have to do everything.

Oh man, I completely forgot about cloud saves. Honestly, even though I rarely played online, I love having cloud saves since it lets me easily play my games at home or when I visit family/don't have to worry about keep my saves with me. Plus, aren't there some games that do not allow for local backup for sales?

Yep it's all or nothing it's basically a restore option which is very inconvenient just to get saves back. I let my PS+ run out in June of last year and plan to just buy a month at least twice a year to prevent my cloud saves from going away and also to backup only my PS5 saves. PS4 saves can still be backed up locally at least but they need to let us back up PS5 saves eventually. I know it's to prevent hacking but the system has already been hacked or earlier firmwares. I wouldn't mind paying $15 - $20 a year just for cloud saves only.

I just got back to PlayStation this fall after being on Xbox since 2017 and I was pleasantly surprised to see my saves still there.

Edit: shoot forgot to insert who I was quoting

Ever have the ability to just read a person from the get-go and know they're a piece of shit? I hate being right about Jim Ryan, but that scathing tea from Shu about how he was forced to take a step down from first party games to focus on indie is absolute validation. 100% sure it was because Shu knew better than to chase trends and live service games like Jim wanted, so he demoted Shu to replace him with a yes-man: Herman Hulst.

Man did that connect a lot of dots and explain why they're in such shit shape now. Shu was the last OG they had (even if he did royally fuck up with Demon's Souls lol).

Man, you PC nuts just shit up every console thread. You're even worse than the recent crypto spammers because at least those posts can be marked for deletion. This isn't an airport - you don't have to announce your departure.
More like some people are still asleep in the terminal after their flight left long ago.

Finally upgraded to the PS5 Pro, and now the disc drives are out of stock everywhere again. 😵‍💫

I still believe sony is doing this intentionally. Limiting production to force people into digital.

On a side note, I beat astrobot recently and wanted to play one of my 110 backlog PS5 games. It seems like all games require a pro anymore. I’m no longer settling on 4k30 or 1080p60 any longer. At this point I‘m playing my older back log games that have zero Pro enhancements until sony comes out with some sort of Pro bundle or limited edition. Was about to start Forspoke last night, or Stellar Blade, or Aveum, or Control ultimate. All play better on a Pro!

Freeze Time is that you?

Tried again just now and it worked! Must be popping in and out of stock. Thank you again.
It says "Arriving March 16 - April 23", which is a bit concerning, but hey 🤣
I always feel like when Amazon does that it updates in a few days to a sooner delivery and usually shows up in like a week, but I have prime so not sure if it gets prioritized to prime members or not.

Does the Pro improve anything with the PS Portal? Because that's what I use 90% of the time
Nope the connection between the portal and PS5 will be the same as your regular PS5 no difference from what I saw people say. You'll of course get the upgrades from pro like better textures and FPS on your portal screen if that's what you want. Doesn't seem like the pro console connects any better to the portal than the regular PS5.

Why would a company limit something? To make less monsy?

I am confused by "All games require a pro anymore"...I can not think of one game that requires it. Yes, games look better or run better, but it is kind of like a new TV. When you firts get it, it's amazing and vibrant and....but now after having a Pro I do not get blown away by it. I mean, it is not like I am playing a game on my regular PS5 for a couple of hours, save my progress, and then switch over to the Pro

I am still happy I have it because new and shiny.

Also sidenote regarding Forspoken...unless you are a big fan of old Al Pacino (unless I am dating myself here) movies were it's a consistent stream of swears I would avoid that game. I couldn't get past the first 30 minutes...just constant..and not even funny. Shame too becuase the game looks to be amazing. But I play games for the "articles"🐰

Also, 110 games? Realistically of those 100, how many do you want to play? For example, I have Mad Max in my "backlog", but I know that I am never going to play it.

I'm working on my backlog and it's a little more than 100 titles. It's just that most of the games are rpgs and those take longer to play than the other genres. Especially trails games which average 60-100 hours. I have 4 of those to play but that's because of Azure and zero not getting localized till recently so I couldn't play cold steel 3 and 4 and Reverie till I finished zero at least.

Currently playing akibas beat but I've been working so much especially during the holidays so it's been slow going.

Sony is purposely limiting the drive to keep a stranglehold on the digital market. If they control the ecosystem, they make more money. I can buy a six month old game in a store for $20, then sell or or trade it. the PS store would still be selling the same game for $60 with no ability to trade or resell.

As far as a Pro is concerned, I have a new 77 inch LG G3, capable of 4k120hz. I have finite time when gaming and usually only play a game once. I have no interest in choosing 4k30hz or 1080p60hz, since I am a “do it right the first time” kind of person. I just don’t own a Pro now on principle... the 30th Pro anniversary launch was a fiasco and I don’t buy plain consoles.

The world of forspoken looked fun to me though I did hear the writing was horrid. I do plan to play it and find out for myself. I believe I got it for $12 a while ago.

Regarding my backlog, my count for PS5 games is now 119 total, eight of which have been opened and played. Like I said early on, I buy a lot of games during sales or target clearance deals. Buy 5 for $20 each, then play one for 40 hours. Since I only play one game at a time until completion or platinum, it creates an existential backlog.

This is an ubeleivable way of thinking. If this were true why would they even have the 5 disc drive at all?

I, personally think, that the Pro being digital was a brilliant move by Sony to get rid of the obvious overstock of Drives that had for the 5 already. The moment it was announced that the Pro was digital only I bought the Drive because I have a slew of physical games and knew there would be a run by others for them.

I am sure eventually all of the consoles will go digital (like the PC market has), but for now I am quite happy to continue with physical games. Who knows maybe if the consoles went digital only we would see other things like Fanatical or Humble Bundle pop up. I know with the Steam Deck I do not have to buy everything direct from Steam.

Err, you do realize they literally stated an end of support for physical media, right? It is intentional because they are no longer producing it.

How's Akiba's Beat? That appears to be the worst of the 3 Akiba games.

The physical meida that they killed off was a very specific type...it was recordable that predominantly was used in Japan

The gameplay is a bit rough and kinda like a budget tales of game. But with cc system from graces or star ocean 3 and 4s. It has free run and back step and such you'd typically find in tales of.

It's much more visual novel heavy with portions of dungeon crawling. So in that aspect it kinda is like persona. But it has a surprisingly large amount of voice work unlike most games so in that aspect it shares with the tales of series as well.

Most of the characters are awful though. Especially the girls.

I remember getting Akiba's Beat for Vita for like $10. It's not the best game for sure and I only played a few hours cause I didn't really care for the story, gameplay or characters. Akiba's Trip 2 was the best one with the first being really rough to play as well.

I thought I read somewhere that the PS Portal may allow Premium subscribers to stream games from the cloud directly to the Portal but I could have dreamed that and maybe it didn't end up happening

It’s in “beta” technically but it’s open to everyone and available now. You have to go into settings in the portal to enable it but it works really.
