Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team DS or GBA
Too many good DS games out all at once

I would have gotten it but Dragon Quest Rocket Slime this week and Mario vs DK 2 next week means I'm gonna hold off for awhile.
same with me, i haven't touched dragon quest yet
Is this still on sale at Circuit City? If it is I just may pick it up.
Nope. One week sale.

two thumbs way DOwn on this game from me.

game plays just like azure dreams. or Curse seal (ds)

i was hoping this would been a good game but its just a clone of other types of games out there. Im shocked they would give this game a high rating but give a low score to Curse

its the same type walking game but now its got pokemon

it would be a good game at 10 to 15 bucks but nowhere over 20

if you run on the ds the game moves so fast the DS cant keep up

im about 2 hours into it and it reminds me alot of

FFTA for the gba with the job system. and Azure dreams with the battle system.

I think im going to return it to gamefly tomorrow and probally end up buying it later on. i doubt i will be able to beat it in a few days if people are playing for 30+ hours and have not got to the end .

well you can beat the main story part in about 12-15 hours. but after the credits roll is when the real game starts. before that your pokemon can't evolve, and a lot of pokemon don't even show up yet for you to catch.

so the first 12-15 hours you get the main story plot and solve the crisis (although there is still more later). then after that the pokemon-collecting and evolving part.

DOH should of read this. I ran out and got it today for 30 bucks and send the game back to gamefly. At least pokemon games hold their vaule so i probally can resell it for 15 to 20 bucks in a few months

well it's totally worth playing past the 15 hours. i misread your post and thought you weren't interested because it was too long haha.

but yeah the first part of the story mode just kinda gets you going. it's really engrossing, i always want to keep playing and playing. i haven't logged this many hours into a game this fast for probably 8 years. pokemon is a drug i tell you. i'm prob around 40 hours now. i'm working on trying to catch ho-oh.

hey guys i'm gonna wait for a price drop on this, but for the time being would you recommend it? i haven't touched a pokemon game since fire red, and this sounds alot like tao's adventure which i havent' touched for a while too

i dunno, but i've put as many hours into this in one week (40) as i did in three weeks of playing ff3 (37 or 38). and i really liked ff3.

this pokemon game is just really compelling. i haven't played a pokemon game (except trozei) since BLUE, and i quit playing that when i got to the town with the slot machines, so i'm no pokemaniac. this game has been really drawing me in though.

it might be that i'm really old school, because i used to like rogue a lot even though i sucked at it. i've downloaded roguelike games (angband, nethack, etc) multiple times in the last 10 years or so maybe i just like the exploring format.

I just bought this game today, and I gotta say that I'm very pleased. I'm a Totodial with a Bulbasaur as my team mate. I'm not too far in, but is there a way to "catch" Pokemon to add them to your team? Also, how do you restore power points? I cant use scratch, so I'm forced to use my "less xp awarded" attack.

yeah they show you how to do all that (catching pokemon, etc) as you advance through the story mode.

power points get restored every time you go into a new dungeon. inside the dungeon, you have to use a max elixir to get them back, but dungeons won't be long enough where you have to start doing that until much farther in. eventually you'll get a couple more attack moves so scratch won't be your only one.

Hah. Alright thanks. Yeah, I just saved the two Magnamites, so I'm really not far in at all. The only trouble I'm having with it is I keep forgetting it is turn based. I keep hammering the attack butten when it's basically pointless  And is your teammate supposed to level up a bit quicker than you do?

generally, the stronger pokemon take longer to level up than the weaker ones. but all the starters are usually around the same strength. who do you have for your partner?

im about the same place. even though i got the game a week ago no time to play it since monoploy is coming out (having to hand write envlopes taking hours)

i got it over at FYE for 30 bucks. i figured i really only cost like 5 to 10 since i got tons of credit over there an nothing to buy

I'm totadial and my partner is bulbasaur. But I'm already planning out who I should be/who my partner should be on my next play through. That is definetly a sign of high replay value. Also, I'm at the point where I need to beat up Zapdos, what level should I be around to be well off in the fight?

Okay, my Bulbasaur fainted, and I don't want to start this dungeon over. Can someone give me an A-OK code or whatever they are?

I was at around level 20 and took it down with a bulbasaur and a psyduck.

Heh, I got sick of waiting, so I just restarted the dungeon. Totally blew Zapdos away. Same thing with Moltres, but I'm not using any real strategy. I'm only about level 22 and I'm heading for Articuno now, or so I'm assuming. It seems pretty obvious though. Fire mountain- Moltres, Snowy Forest - Articuno. And I'm pissed to hear about that seed strategy, because I've lost all my seeds from dying damnit!

well seeds show up all over the place, and you prob only need one for a boss. likely you'll pick one up in the dungeon anyway

Well, I started playing it today and I didnt quite know what to expect, but I'm glad I picked it up. It's a fun, unique game that makes a great addition to any DS collection.

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon how do I actually rescue Pokemon? I was supposed to rescue Rattata but then I went up to him and nothing happens. Thanks for your help.

I bought it this week in the buy 2 get 1 free thing, but I'm wondering if it's a mistake or not. I was originally excited by this as I love Rouge-like games, and the idea of a turn based Rogue-like with cute characters appeals to me, but then this has gotten mostly horrible reviews.

Is there really much to the game? Can you really build up your character, add new powers or whatever like in a normal game of this type? I mean does this tap into the same vibe that Nethack, Diablo, Champions of Norath, etc. all tap into?

And what's happens after you beat the game? It sounds like it takes 15-20 hours...but tons of basic features aren't available until after that? So does that mean the story continues, or are you stuck just playing the same areas again with no story? I need SOMETHING compelling me forward-exploration or story or something. I don't care about finding all the Pokemon or anything, I'm more interested in building up characters I DO have.

While I'm at it-are Clubhouse Games and Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 worth it? I'll mostly play Clubhouse Games single player so I'm not sure. I'm *still* looking for games to get my mom into gaming though-tried to my whole life...seems like this could be a gateway game.

Oh, and since people were listing it, I'm 29, and haven't played a "real" Pokemon game since the first one. I wasn't a *huge* fan as I don't like the "gotta catch them all" thing, and the whole thing of capturing animals to have them fight kind of creeps me out.

I like that "SOS" idea! That's really cool. If I get into this game, I can see rescuing other people from CAG. Could be kind of fun!

after you "beat" the game, you only have about 30% of all the dungeons. plus you can only recruit about 10% of the pokemon before that. after you "beat" the game, it lets you evolve and opens up all the hard dungeons. you still have levelling, evolving, TMs, new moves on level ups, and all that stuff. i loved the game. if it didn't review well it's just because the reviewers aren't into the old school crawlers.

What's weird though is a lot of them seemed to be-they just acted like there wasn't much to the design compared to other Rogue-like games.

Is there any story past when you "beat" the game? I'm hoping there's something to keep me going beyond just finding Pokemon. I guess exploring the other dungeons, except I guess they're all pretty much the same? I mean do you actually find cool loot or something in the extra dungeons?

EDIT: Banpeikun, I just reread your one post about it, and it's making me a lot more confident about liking the game! I'm a big Rogue-like fan too, and not a huge Pokemon fan (I'm not against it, just not nuts about it).

The idea of a cute Rogue-like game sounds like a lot of fun to me!

yeah it is a lot of fun. there are additional story elements past the "ending" including a few standalone missions that unlock friend areas or other dungeons or legendary pokemon. there is a final conclusion to the story revealing the true identities of the parties in the legend, but i haven't done that part yet.
